Finished one of the 3 mdf custom paintjob boards, can make 6 for the price of 1 dnd paper map...that includes the spraycans (I do have a lot more terrain/hills/forests, just wanted a quick test after the hour of hand drawing the grid)

it took 5 minutes to paint them, with the layered texturing you see
then one hour, maybe less, with one one meter ruler, and an inch square base just to make sure its all square
the one inch base just needed to check each long line three times before perma marking
so why? better product in the end, lasts years more than a paper map, is also sturdy enoguh to hold lots of terrain and mini's whislt carrying it otu to surprise players during encounter

already got 2 other boards drying their paint for dessert, stone, ocean and tundra
and main reason, better looking end result for 6 map boards, for the price of buying one of the dnd ones

I grabbed a warhammer blackorc on a one inch square base, just to get the correct thickness, then used a one meter ruler next to it, then slid the black orc to the middle and to each end to make sure the thickness was constant, then draw a long line

dnd mini's are made from softer plastic than nearly any other miniature so they can take a punishment, so its easy to store them in plastic boxes

you'd notice a massive difference as vallejo and army painter paints layer in their bottle into three seperate parts
a manual handshake rarely does the perfect mix with them

have you ever noticed you squeezed out a clear liquid before the colour comes out?
thats the paint thinner, thats what makes it smoother and better application for the actual paint
if you've ever seen that, need to mix more
I just preferred a 5 second shake over a 30 second which is usually required for the thinner to be mixed through

Diablo 2, it seems to me impossible to describe in words the titanic significance of this game for the entire industry. This is my next attempt to pay tribute to the memory of a great masterpiece. I gave a little free rein to my imagination about the contents of the tents, otherwise I tried to recreate with accuracy.

I've found that the best single method to study art is to try to copy real things
study an object and draw or sculpt what it actually looks like
you catch a lot of small details you'd miss if you tried to draw or sculpt it from memory
also, looking around on the internet for blogs or videos about artistic techniques is a pretty nice way to pick up some ideas

@toxic loom Nice Mandalorian piece. One quick thing you can do to make it pop is to have the area of greatest contrast be behind like the head of the character. squint your eyes and look at the image and see where your eye is drawn. Right now, there are two areas of high contrast for me: the red laser beam (color contrast since nothing else in the image is red really) and his silhouette by the right side of the image (light/dark contrast)
