This is sort of a random D&D character I made up and I kind of want to play. He's a human Blood Hunter and his right arm is essentially a magma claw surrounded in obsidian and has sharp stones on the end of the fingers to cut and tear through flesh. His magma arm can burn through enemies quickly however does severe internal damage to his body as part of his blood magic.

Went to the Tolkein exhibit at the Morgan Library here in NYC yesterday. It is GORGEOUS. He did so much of his own artwork and dust jackets and all of his designs are so weeby it's amazing. Basically, this exhibit made me much more comfortable with the thought of how much work I put into all of my projects. The wealth of detail can be exhausting, but to me is fun. This is to say that for anyone else who is worried about "no one seeing something", I think he's sort of a testament to the idea that yeah, lots of people won't. But he said that he enjoyed the act of it more than it needing to be there. So enjoy your stuff. Also, if the exhibit makes its way to you, go see it. So many of his design choices never made it in because they were "too expensive" or "the American market won't get that". Make your art, compromise seldom, and be comfortable with the thought that it may just all be for yourself.

My warlock I haven't gotten any backstory done, but most likely she had some kind of trauma which led her to becoming a kind of monster/bounty hunter

Only dragon I've worked on was a spare green I got from a tyranny of dragons blind box, already had one, so converted it the best I could into a blue, and may actually make additional changes to make it a frost dragon.
I just figured there was no sense in having two greens, and I could always use a different color for future encounters.

I am totally blind in that eye. It is an eyepatch with reflective tape over it so when photos are taken it gives the glowing eye effect. A quick solution when I was on a con crunch and didnt get the LED rig finished in time. Lol

Its amazingly to see that sort of detail. I was 'half' expecting to see a normal eye in the socket and the effect in the previous picture a 'photoshop' trick. That's really the sort of detail that makes something go beyond just a wow and gets you to study it.

First up is to complete a set I had commissioned for each of the players of the D&D campaign I DM, artwork for a replacement character:
Warforged of unlucky circumstances. While still in stasis, a cultist family had unearthed it, and attempt to bind it to them through blood rituals.
Though the ritual ultimately failed, Iris was awakened to the anguished screams of murdered souls bound to her. One of those souls is actually the player's former character.
They act as a battery, its Warlock Patron, though Iris's quest is to finally release them.

Unfortunately for me I pretty much either order from Amazon or get shafted/just don't get products. As there are no Hobbie Shops left within 50+ miles of me.
That said, I paint the base in various shades of brown in varying patterns, mixing and blending as I do this while the paint is wet, gives a decent appearance of dirt. I then glue the flocking down wait for the glue to dry then a few spots I apply some more bits of brown paint or other colors to give it some different looks so it's not a consistent appearance through out. I was going to do some gravel with made of clay or purchased but for various reason it didn't happen.

I find myself barely making use of the little paper slips since I have all the statblocks in the booklet now, but it was an interesting exercise. My main tool is a laptop and referencing physical books.
That box is going to get another coat of paint. It's taking waaaaay longer to fully dry than advertised so I managed to mess up the gloss by handling it
Some day I'll make myself handy charts that will live semi-permanently on the screen.

(Also thinking about options for some nice stencil art on the box. Some monster like a dragon, hydra, or beholder would be classic. I tend to have griffins as a personal favourite so that would fit me. Or I could do a symbol of some faction, or the old school "green devil face with open mouth". But also important is that that box doesn't have a way to hold it shut yet, and I use a pair of rubber bands)
