i doubt that she'll be accepted since my first ever tryout of a game is on wednesday, but the day i'm in an actual campaign it'd be killer to make her a thing! (she's a barbarian because she was raised by barbarian dwarves/halflings rather than her own kind)

This is a character I played for only 2 sessions, before he was sucked into a bag of holding put inside a portable hole... Shalazar the Kobold Lore Bard pretending to be a stunted dragonborn. So much potential.

At a ball on a boat. Snatched a bag from a wealthy looking woman. Was indeed a bag of holding. I was stealing stuff and playing songs aplenty. The party rogue came over to me to remove the evidence from me, and since he didn't know it was a bag of holding, he shoved it into his portable hole, causing both of us to be sucked into the astral plane

For anyone interested, the image I shared above is a piece from my dark fantasy setting called Driftwood Archives (http://www.driftwoodarchives.com). I'm currently working on the ruleset to get it up and running for D&D 5e using the OGL. Currently, it lives through the art, but I also write all of the lore and short stories that go with it. I also have an artbook that just got funded end of last year (will be up on the site soon) and gaming playmats.

There are many reasons. My reasons are: Accessibility (you can just start drawing on your PC if you're already on it, and don't have to get paper first), ease of sharing (I don't have a scanner), precision (I tend to shake a bit most of the time, and that matters less for digital art) and quality of colors (drawing colors will never be as full as digital color, except if you pay a high amount of money on colors). @ancient wyvern

I just find that conventional art is easier to be proud of from the artist’s own perspective. But that could just be me and my dumb self still using paper & pencil because I have crap tech.

It's not about being better. It's just a fact that more people tend to digital art nowadays.

Actually guys, I know loads of artists in the industry that still work traditional, even for Dungeons & Dragons and Magic the Gathering. Just as many of them, I'd say. It's just another medium. Oil, acrylic, gouache, graphite, charcoal.... digital. One isn't better, they are all just tools to communicate ideas. Sure, they are different and have pros and cons, but in the end, just use what you are comfortable. You aren't behind for not going to digital any more than they are ahead for switching to it.

Also, more people aren't tending toward just digital, it's actually across the board. It really just depends what a person is comfortable. My opinion? Try everything and anything. Paint with a toothbrush just once and see what it's like. Try every medium you can. Oil.... markers.... prisma pencils... anything. Art is about you're relationship with the viewer of the art. Doesn't matter how it's created.

(I actually know a lot of professional artists that do both, and switch whenever they feel like it or depending on the project. Art is art.)

Easier to be proud of? Nah. And don't listen to people who say digital is cheating or easier or any of that. Digital uses the same rules. I actually learned how to paint like I do using oil painting videos (I'm actually a traditional acrylic painter as well, it's just not my main medium).

Art is art.

@dry radish, I just stay busy. I'm a full time illustrator, so I pay the bills by doing commissions mainly and I work on Driftwood between that. I decided to use it as a D&D setting so I could professionally push it toward my other love, tabletop roleplaying.

Additionally, the hope is that someday I'll land some work with Wizards and get to work on some D&D or Magic paintings, and get to give back into one of the things that is integral to my creative journey over my life.

Also, I didn't mean to hijack the channel.... if I'm talking too much, just let me know. Haha.

I work really long days because I love what I do. I get up at 11am and other than breaks for food, if it's a work day I'm just painting and writing until 5 or 6am the next morning. Bed, wake up and repeat

I'm just a little extreme. There are days I don't feel like painting and I take a little bit of a break unless there are commissions lined up. That's the beauty of working from home, I can make my own hours and adjust as needed. Downside is I have very little spending money, haha! But I wouldn't trade it for my old job ever

Nel - My graves cleric. She always has a shovel, walks in her bare feet because she loves to feel the dirt beneath her toes. She follows Urogalan. When she sees any dead bodies, she will stop and bury them, friend or foe. Thus why she always carries a shovel.

I also made her a spiritual weapon in the shape of, of course, a shovel.

Also, made her a Spiritual Guardians Spell grid with a fey corgi (Urogalan's symbol is the silhouette of a dog) holding a...shovel.

Honestly if you want more comics the best way to get is to let Todd or Adam know, or post in public. If money is tight one option I use is from patreon called printable heroes. The artwork is great, and constantly getting new stuff, and you can have basic cut out with scissors or have a cutting machine and you still end up with some great minis.

My Wood-elf Bard, Kelban. Grown up as a hunter-gatherer in the Northern Kingdom, he eventually left his mother behind (who gave up the outlander-life at some point) and ventured around. At some point, he got into the Barony Baristava, where elves are discriminated (since the Northern Kingdom, where the elves live, is at war with Baristava). Ever since then, he has started to spread joy, healing, and his service in general, in order to get rid of the bad view of humans against elves.

Finally designed my D&D Homebrew Weapon, a longsword called "The World's End"!

*"You gain a +5 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

While holding this sword, your Strength increases to 20.

This adamantite lightweight longsword looks black in color from the tip of the blade all the way to the pommel and can be wielded by any class at any time. Red draconic runes are glowing across the blade's length, especially when attuned to a Wizard."*

Yeah it's a Wizkids Pathfinder Deep Cuts Gargantuan Green Dragon, they released red, green and white

a black dragon was rolling in his treasure hoard of gold for so many years he appeared as if he were a gold dragon

when he asked adventurers for help, they were like "Oh a gold dragon needs help let's do it!"

then they messed up a bunch of great people, paladin lost his powers

and they were very confused and went and eventually fought the dragon
