Dearest anon, religion is generally a pretty complex thing to navigate and i totally understand how pondering over the philosophical aspect of things can send you down a spiral of thoughts. It's good that you question things to find the truth, however, when you keep questioning and questioning even the tinest most irrelevant things you end u doing yourself harm. I would suggest you write down the major questions you have about whatever religion, and then having them answered by well versed, authentic scholars to clarify your confusions. Later, you can even do your own research, but as someone who has tried to learn more about her own religion using the internet, there is so much propaganda and culture and personal opinions that have been presented as authentic info online, and it really confuses and appalls you. If religion is something you are interested in, and considering you are a theist, you do believe in some kind of Higher Power, you need to know that religion isnt meant or created to be difficult, but rather to bring peace and hope to your soul, heart, and mind. It's in a human's nature to have hope for the best, and the concept of a God who loves you more than your parents, who is there for you always, who wishes and does the best for you, who can and will rescue you through anything is a huge source of hope. Even if in the end after you die, no God or afterlife exists, you will still not have lived a life in vain and depression without any hope for the best.

Another thing anon, is this misconception that we must raise our kids to live in a God fearing society. That's wrong, we should live as a God loving society. We should do things because we love Him not because we fear him. And why should we love Him? Because He loves us. You mentioned feeling conflicted because of your sexuality. At the end of the day, God loves you and is more forgiving than you can imagine. A sign of his forgiveness is how He hasnt hardened your heart from the fear of consequence. There is always going to be some kind of middle ground you can find between your sexuality and religion, because God doesn't leave gray areas in religion. Like for example, in Islam, having queer feelings is not haram, but is something completely normal. However, acting upon them is haram. And when you are actively avoiding those feelings for the love of God, you get rewarded for it more than you know.

I think for now you need to give yourself and your mind a break from thinking so you can focus on your exams. like i mentioned, such thoughts can send ur mind down a spiral which is not good for ur mental health or studies. both God, and you want the best for yourself which right now is getting good grades, so whether its God you want to please or yourself, the goal is always the same. Don't worry, once your exams are over and you have summer break, you can conduct more proper research in a healthier way to find the right path. Everyone struggles with religion, and that is part of being human

#

holy shit stress cooked

#

but listen anon

#

religion is something that u gotta ponder on

#

what i've seen is that

#

people take religion as a chore/task rather than to actually follow it with your heart

#

don't get me wrong, i too used to be like tis'

#

getting annoyed when i had to pray, going to juma'a namaaz

#

(as a Muslim)

#

but than, I slowly started to actually think that what ever I read in prayer etc

#

What does it mean?

#

And what ever I heard/read, the meanings were just beautiful

#

So it really helped me connect alot with my religion

#

You living in state of fear and anxiety is osmething I too go through every day due to reasons which doblerone has told me not to talk about

#

but i know that

#

my Lord is watching over me

#

protecting me

#

you see

#

thats the beautiful thing about religion

#

someone that watches over you, your Lord, protecting you

#

So whether your chrisitan, hindu, muslim, sikh etc

#

i don't know alot abt other religions

#

but find something that puts you at peace

#

if u think about it

#

if there's no god, then how was the first ever thing made?

#

nothing can spawn out of thin air

#

someone needed to do something to make it spawn out of thin air yea?

#

Anon, love yourself

#

hope you find your answers one day

Good advice given but overall, do your research. Find what resonates with you the most. Im not gonna preach my religion to you, but it stands with all religions, homophobia exists. But not being straight doesn't mean ur not part of any religion, whether its considered a sin or not. It doesn't mean the rest of the work you did is false or your ideology is false. Reflect. Stressed gave some goated advice and in the end of the day its completely ur choice what u follow.

#

Don't think it's the right time to deep dive into religion and start researching but give yourself the peace of mind that they aren't going anywhere

#

U can always reflect and research after ur exams

#

It won't send u to hell or smth since u do have other priorities

#

Sexuality is scary and so is connecting with religion

#

Wish you the best

#

Look anon,

#

At the end of the day, it's up to you

#

The religion you follow,

#

The life you lead,

#

The people you talk to,

#

The future you build.

#

It can never not be your choice

#

It's your life and you drive it

#

But notice how

#

When you were in distress

#

You felt the need to rethink your opinion on god

#

Maybe it's a sign to draw closer to the almighty

#

I personally

#

Have always felt my religion as a safe place

#

And even though, just like every community

#

There are toxic people here too

#

But it's better to just look at the better side of it
