Hi, I had a question that has irked me for the past few days. I am starting AS levels in the coming days and I had a question regarding my subject selection. My school gives us the option to take three subject with a pretty hefty fee for any 4th subject that you want to take. So, I had decided to take Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. However, later I decided that I would be better off giving Maths privately for quite a few reasons, but my father says that I should take Maths through my school since if I venture into a field such an engineering ,where Maths is a required subject in Uni, the Uni would prefer to have my mathematics scores in my schools, as in not my exam grades, just my academic performance. He claims that if I take Maths privatel, I'll be undervalued compared to other candidates who have the same grade and PUM as me but have chosen Maths as a subject in their school, any ideas or input on this whether is it true? Sorry, it's quite a long question 😅

I keep on telling my dad this
But he's obstinate that there is some influence of school academic scores on your chances of being selected
If you could please provide some sort of proof that I could show him to debunk this myth??
I'm not sure about proof but
You should be able to find the Cambridge marking process video online
The papers are anonymised so the marker has no clue who you are, where you came from, or whether you're a school or private canditate
Ohhh, that's good to know
Perhaps, it will make him change his mind
