From an early age, I was fascinated with the world of programming. I recall being just 10 years old when a colleague of my father's would visit our home everyday during winter break. What set these visits apart were the interesting programming questions he used to present to me. It was a challenge that I was excited to show him the next day, and the sheer delight of watching my code execute perfectly was immensely gratifying. Yet, as I delved deeper into the world of coding, I began to contemplate whether there existed more practical applications of programming.
My curiosity led me on a journey to explore the different areas of computer science. Along this path, I stumbled upon artificial intelligence and image processing, and the fact that computers could possess the capacity to learn always left me captivated.
I reached out to companies for internships, and I had the privilege of collaborating on a research paper: AI-Assisted Digital Pathology for Computational distinction of adenocarcinoma vs squamous cell carcinoma, which helped distinguish two different types of non-small cell lung cancers. It was in this project that I was introduced to the complex world of Neural Networks (NN), specifically Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). While the process of constructing the model was intellectually stimulating, it was when I thought about the profound potential of applying such technology across diverse fields that I truly grasped its significance. The boundaries of AI are not confined to a singular field of study; the prospect of using these skills to create something revolutionary ignited this interest within me.
