Dear Moderators and Members of the Discord Server,

I hope y’all are having a wonderful day/night/whatever the heck happens in Greenland😂.

First of all, huge congratulations to those done with the FM series. IGCSE EXAMINATIONS ARE FINALLY OVER GUYS!!! 🥳

As a member of this community, I have been very appreciative of the help and support I have received from this server. I would like to take a moment to express a concern that I have regarding the current system for asking questions.

As we all know, this server is a valuable resource for students seeking help with their studies. However, I have noticed that doubts are asked sometimes without providing any context, thought process or working of the person asking the question. This not only makes it terribly difficult for the people helping to identify if the other person has FULLY grasped the concept or not and also may give rise to malpractice in tests and homework if the answer is simply “given away”.

Therefore, I would like to appeal to the moderators and members of this server to consider implementing a new system for asking questions. Specifically, I would like to propose that when people ask their doubts, they are required to provide an explanation of their thinking process and the work they have done so far. This will not only enable helpers to identify if the students have understood the concept fully, but it will also encourage students to think critically about the material and engage in active problem-solving.

I was inspired by the approach taken by the Mathematics Discord server, which includes a "how-to-ask-for-help" channel that encourages members to include their working and thought process. I believe that something similar could be implemented here, and it would greatly enhance the quality of the support provided on this server.

I would appreciate it if you could take some time to consider my proposal and provide your feedback. I would love to hear any suggestions or alternative ideas that you may have on this matter. I believe that by working together, we can create a better learning environment for everyone in this community.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
@fossil current

So do you want us to create a similar how-to-ask-for-help channel, or do you want us to post an update telling members that they should ask questions in the suggested format
