#Stuck at Volume Menu

In Everhood, when I open the game, I am stuck at the volume menu. I saw a Reddit comment from Chris from around a year ago saying to disable Steam Cloud Sync, delete the autosave from LocalLow, open the game, close it, and reenable Steam Cloud Sync. However, when I try to do this, it still generates the autosave vdf file and the game is still stuck on the volum menu. If you need any more info from me, please let me know, Suggestions welcome.

Try not to re-enable the steam cloud sync!

#

re-enable it later when things are working!

I'm not even reenabling it. It just keeps generating the file anyways

#

That's the confusing part

The Steam version of Everhood can be run as a DRM-free game directly from executable. Try closing Steam, deleting the file, then running the game directly from the executable. (For some reason running the game directly from executable while Steam is running will run it through Steam, so again make sure Steam is closed.)

You can see which game folder the game is in while Steam is running, right-click it in your Library -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Browse. Then close Steam.

The plot thickens

#

I closed Steam

#

deleted the file

#

Tried running the game

#

and it's still frozen on the volume sliders

#

F3 does still enlarge the window though

Tried the language test and speedrun branches. Neither work. The Steam overlay FPS counter changes values so it's not frozen frozen

Try verifying the integrity of the files?

#

Right-click the game in your Library -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Verify integrity of game files

Did that and also tried installing on different drivers, no dice

#

Also tried running it with a bunch of different Unity command line launch options (different graphics renders or whatever and other stuff) and nothing worked there either

Uninstall the game and then go into the local low folder and delete entire folder!

Then restart computer just incase (lol)

And then install the game without the steam cloud on.

That should hopefully fix it for sure!

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the suggestion Chris. I will try that and report back here once I have

#

That appears to have fixed it! I am now presented with the language screen and when I select a language, I'm at the main menu. Thanks for the help!

There must be something corrupted with my Steam Cloud save because loading that back up again causes the issue to reoccur. I'm just going to have to overwrite it I guess
