Simple to understand. I died, I was sent to the alien world, and upon return the visual effect for the healing aura remained. This persisted after reloading the game. (It disappears upon starting the boat ride)

Dying might not be necessary (unless you mean to get sent to Everhood), it was like that as a default state for me when I first recruited Savepoint to the vessel.
