Hi!!!! First off, thank you so much for including my mushroom in the game! I felt a meaningful interpersonal journey forming inside myself as I played Everhood 2 that had simply never happened before. I wasn’t sure if my mushroom was included (I hadn’t drawn publicly in years and was super self-conscious about it,) so the pseudonarrative crafted by the dev gnomes talking to the player at the beginning of the game really impacted me. I felt like the developers and I were having a connection across time and space to create the world of Everhood together, this greater thing of beauty. The feeling of “being wanted” was so powerful, I couldn’t believe the developers were able to create an abstract experience like that. I am so grateful everhood 2 exists in the beautiful perfect imperfect way it does, just like life.
On to the topic of the post, my mushroom name was changed!!! I don’t remember what I had it as before, something about density or quantum mechanics. It was changed to “Tan Lan.” I’m just so interested in what that phrase means.
Having a creation I made given a unique name is so meaningful, especially from someone involved in something as personally important to me as Everhood 1. It would mean so much to learn what the significance of “Tan Lan” is to the person who chose it. It would especially mean a lot to know what about my mushroom made this come to mind, but I know there was 600 of these guys so if there’s no reason in particular then there’s no reason. It’s just so cool when someone interacts with something you made, so I’m really interested (and flattered.)
Just in general, thanks to everyone who worked on the game so much. I played 1 at a very low point in my life and it was part of the reason I reached out for help. Now that I’m healthier, seeing my creation added as a joyous “part of that world” is just really, really cool. Also the game made me think about life a ton. So thank you so much!!!
