Not an issue with my save, but a friend's who isn't in the server, and she's holding off on playing much of the game until its fixed.
Most bosses have music, but theres zero ambient music in any area, and fights that are tied to background music like the boatman sections and other similar sections are missing music as well. Validating integrity of game files and reinstalling the game somehow didn't fix it :/ music volume is default in the settings too, just a really strange bug and I don't even know how it could be replicated :(((

this did not fix it but apparently setting battle music and overworld music to be the same volume did? at least its working now 
oh it mightve been her changing the battle music volume. changing it now works as expected
she left it at default initially and there was never any music for most sections of the game askljfsd
well it works now
