How to practice incinerator

I've finished the game and want to try to do it hitless on the rerun, but if I die in the incinerator I can't just directly retry or even just go back to the latest save because it initiates the death battle first, is there a better way to practice or will I just have to endure an inconvenience of at least half a minute every time I die?
