Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with me and the rest of our Talking Trek team about the events of the last day or two. I'm pleased to be able to share these announcements, compounded with our teaching related to the new mechanics.
1.) Gaila's ability will be reactivated as she was, allowing to her to function as she always has with any of the armadas she's ever been used for.
2.) Cardassian Armadas will be modified in the following fashion:
a.) Uncommon Armadas will retain the increasing crit chance ability, which means that gaila will CONTINUE to be a viable strategy for players, f2p and spend alike, to engage fully with this new feature, from this point forward.
b.) Rare and Epic Armadas will have their ability REMOVED. This allows a hybrid of strategy. Gaila COULD be used here, in the SAME FASHION she's used for exchange, in that if you remove all of the crit damage, then 20% of all shots can still shoot zero damage. OR you could use Troi and remove all crit chance, and attack the armada with 100% normal shots and zero crits. THIS choice will depend on your strength of team, as the DPR of these armadas is strong, and attacking and killing it quickly REMAIN the desired outcome. This WILL increase the difficulty of Rare and Epic armadas as compared to yesterday with Gaila. HOWEVER, The DS9 crew will still ultimately be the better option when players are able to obtain them.
editorial note; despite MANY HOURS of debate, and conversation back and forth, and with respect to ALL members of the community whom have issued their feedback, Ripper and I both personally agree that this outcome is the best that we could have come up with given the demands from both sides of the aisle.
3.) The mantis sting will be fixed today. Bubba's loan fell through.
4.) Miles O'Brien was launched with an error in his configuration that allowed for both infinite stacking of his ability AND his ability activating outside of armadas, which was not intended. His ability has been corrected to only work for armadas, AND his tooltip will be adjusted to account for his 'cumulative' nature. Miles O' Brien will continue to have a cumulative effect, but EACH proc will have a life of only 3 rounds.
Ie, ship has base shots of 2:
So, it triggers in round 2. A buff now exists with +100% for 3 rounds, so
Buff A
Round 2 - +100%
Round 3 - +100%
Round 4 - +100%
If a second buff triggers (Buff B) on Round 3 a second buff now exists
Buff B
Round 3 - +100%
Round 4 - +100%
Round 5 - +100%
So, with both Buff A and Buff B active, you’d have
Round 1 - 0% -> 2 Shots
Round 2 (Buff A) - 100% -> 4 Shots
Round 3 (Buff A, Buff B) - 200% -> 6 Shots
Round 4 (Buff A, Buff B) - 200% -> 6 Shouts
Round 5 (Buff B) - 100% -> 4 Shots
Round 6 - 0% -> 2 Shots
If it triggered 3 rounds in a row you would have (Buff A, B, C) - 300% -> 8 shots
You have to be lucky and have it trigger 3 rounds in a row to get the max 8 shots
Players who have purchased this officer WILL be offered a gift chest to compensate for any confusion on the matter of his stacking ability, as well as his configuration being broken upon release. This compensation chest will include 55 Miles shards.
editors note: Again, ripper and i consulted with game design HEAVILY on the 'intent' of this officer and after many hours of discussion, felt this was the best outcome for this officer. While it may be disappointing to some players who had a different interpretation of a poorly written tooltip, we are pleased that we were able to advocate for a STRONG comp, and keeping SOME of the stack & improving your proc chance per round with thecomp. Additionally, this adjustment was made QUICKLY to repair the config file for all players impacted without weeks of delay.
Special thanks to Eco, God King, Old Man, and many other player advocates who represented our positions well enough to find this resolution. I appreciate your advocacy.
We will continue to provide info and insight as we can-DJz
