#Corrupted windows install from salad 1.5.8 update

My cousin updated salad on his PC and it caused continuous blue screen errors, now I am in safe mode when when I try to run the uninstaller it just flashes the taskkill command prompt open and close continuously. Outside of safe mode it instantly blue screens with CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED as soon as he logs in. Any ideas how to fix this?

My solution:

  • enter safe mode
  • remove all salad files and processes manually
  • sfc /scannow
  • dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
  • reboot out of safe mode

SFC identified corrupt files and repaired them successfully, it appears to be stable and working again. I have not yet reinstalled salad.

He has tried to install salad again and the behaviour persists, it does not install and gets stuck flashing command prompt windows so quickly that the other windows just flash

Hmmm. I wouldn’t even bother with it now. Not worth the hassle. Money making is so low the idle time is just too long.

But if you want to fix it. You will have to clean install windows most likely.
