I hope you don't mind me asking several questions on same post.

  1. Do we have to use Nvme as a storage or can we use like a 2.5 ssd drive instead? I have a dell T7810 that has no Nvme. perhaps I could use one of those Nvmi to PCI adapters (Any experiences?)

  2. Does all storage to be in the same drive or can you use a PC with a mix of {256gb nvme + 500gb 2.5 in ssd}
    Will salad be able to see and use the second drive?
    Windows will be on nvme.

  3. In terms of realistic chances of getting containers, what would be the minimum size suggested for storage? I have a couple of PCs with single 256gb sticks nvme storage (that is the reason I posted questions above), but would be salad ok if I use a single stick of 512gb?

TIA

You can use a SATA SSD, no problem. It's just not recommended to use HDDs because they are so painfully slow for boot drives nowadays, plus it'd probably negatively impact container performance.

You can't currently split Salad's storage usage across multiple drives, though this is a feature that Salad is looking to add in the future. For now, Salad will only use space on your main boot drive, C.

Salad will typically use up to 50-100gb of space, and will gradually grow to use that amount over some days or weeks, as it runs container jobs. A 256gb drive might work fine, though I usually recommend at least 512gb so you don't have to worry about it.
