#Why is there geometry in my algebra homework?

Can someone help me with these problems and explain to me how I can easily solve these? I can't wrap my head around them..I'm dying.

First example:

Distance from ground to center = 60 (given)
Radius = 45 (given)
Degree per second = 360°/120s = 3

Eq: d=60+45sin(3t)

Then plug in 15 for t on the second part

For the second question i think u have to convert the radius from radius form to degree form or just set ur calculators settings to rad (dont quote me its been literally like 10y since ive taken alg)

D = 125 + (whatever the radius is) sin(360/130 t)
