Great Big World

A remake of my old mod of the same name, totally repurposed to become a modern alternate timeline mod. I've been inspired by mods such as NSSS & BTA, but wanted to take advantage of features, improvements, & tools in the modern game.

I've been developing this on/off for over 2 years now, taking bits & pieces from old & half-finished projects. I haven't really showcased it much as I wasn't sure if the project would ever reach this point but I'm happy to say that it is finally just about ready. Well, Phase 1 is. There's much more to come.

Key features include:

  • The Alterworld Dimension
  • Ancient Portals
  • New Temple Structures
  • Overhauled Equipment Upgrades, Smithing Table, & Anvils
  • Overhauled (& to be expanded on) Enchantment Tables
  • Knowledge System

And there is so much more included, & much more to come in the future. I'll be posting pictures below with the above & many of the other features!

Above is the Ancient Portal. You need to sacrifice some sufficiently enchanted items (1 for each pedestal) to activate. This is a permanent access point to the Alterworld Dimension

This is a smaller Ancient Portal, which can be brushed to activate. It is a temporary access point to the Alterworld

The Swamp & Ice temple are two new structures that can contain the smaller, temporary Ancient Portals. Desert & Jungle temples also have them.

You can also find loot here, & spawners & traps in the swamp temple

The Smithing Table & Anvil reworks-

  • Apply metals to equipment in the Smithing Table to upgrade it
  • Use Dyes to color item names in the Anvil. Anvils are also now used to apply Armor Trims, which are now colored using Dyes, not material items

Horned helmets can be made in the Anvil with Goat Horns. More cosmetics will be added in the future

Here is a natural cave painting strip. You can brush these to learn knowledge, such as Pottery Sherds, Armor Trims, Enchantments, or Banner Patterns

Cave paintings can also be silk touched & recolored using Dye to use decoratively

Nature enhancements:

  • Fallen trees can generate across small gaps to form natural bridges
  • Recolored water (aka new river biomes) to match surrounding biomes
  • Mud on river floors
  • Sculk Sensors/Shriekers generating on walls & ceilings
  • Stackable flowers & other plants
  • Lavalogged dripstone (& other blocks)
  • Forest clearings
  • Snowy plants & leaves

New options when creating worlds- specify the start time, weather, & season (seasons only affect the Alterworld). You can also change the world size, & use the classic Bonus House from ages ago. Its damn ugly but thats on Notch
