blockbench's anchoring system is not the same as in-game. you should make sure you're using a feature renderer and see if you can get the player's model part matricies

try using the cape feature renderer for a baseline. it seems to have all the variables you'll need

assuming you're using intellij, double-tap shift so you can search for the cape renderer class, then look at as much of that code as you need
