biggest ethical issue: selling cosmetics
biggest security issue: downloads an unvetted (by a third party) jar from, presumably, their server to load in the game instead of using the jar that you install from curseforge

how do you install essentials without download the essentials mod from the essentials servers? on first load, it downloads the initial mod. the mod you get from CF is just a downloader

you can disable autoupdate, but you have already downloaded unvetted software from an unknown place and run it
