Plot takes place at the end of Shadow of Chernobyl after Brain Scorcher disable. A group of scientists from O-Consciousness was destroyed, but despite this, recruitment into the so-called Monolith Agents continued and many stalkers were brought under control. Most of them were losing their minds and turned into zombies, while others received tasks known only to them and were transported to various parts of the Zone. One such agent was a stalker "Nameless", who repeated the fate of the legendary Strelok when he found himself near the Death Truck on the Cordon. Nameless doesn't remember who he is or what he is doing in the Zone, so he has to study the laws of these places again, to survive and to learn something about himself. At this moment, his only lead is the Death Truck, which he was driving.

I've been playing anomaly for the past week and I can confirm that the guitars and harmonicas do play sounds but they have no animation(you kinda just stay transfixed in place while the song plays), I'd suggest you check your sound settings maybe you turned something off by mistake
Or maybe you're running an older version where they haven't added in the music yet, I'm playing on the current latest version but I know nothing about the previous versions so I might be wrong

Ive been trying to play this A.R.E.A. mod and i need some encouragement
cause the first impression is rather bad, maybe im playing it wrong
like every second load the game crashes
and thats where i come to the gameplay itself

they spawn you right south of the military checkpoint
the military has like 1 km engagement distance and they hit almost every shot
so yeah i died like 15 times, and half of those loads crash the game
its a really bad first impression

That's basically any CoC fork mod expirience.
And yes, A.R.E.A. is pretty buggy, despite the fact that call of chernobyl is buggy on it's own. This appears in choosing some character characteristic, using some items, and turning on a few settings.
As i remember, there are several A.R.E.A. versions by different people, simply just CoC forks, but based on another CoC fork, various can be less/more glitchy.
By the way, this mod is just difficult. Not the NLC 7 3.5 expirience, but still not for everyone.
(you still can customize the game for yourself, there are a lot of settings, as in any other Call of Chernobyl modification)

Firstly, you should choose the game folder, right? Then choose any other folder for Gunslinger Mod, you can even create Gunslinger folder inside your CoP directory.

@green gorge I'm trying to play OGSR, the one you put up on moddb. I put all the main and database files into a folder and attempted to launch it through the Configurator but I always get an "The application was unable to start correctly (0x000007). Click OK to close the application." Error.
Even had to download a .dll file beforehand but the error, which you can see above started popping up.
Any advice on what I'm doing wrong?
I can send screenshots if needed.

Valley of Whispers: good CoP mod, have very similar atmosphere to the CoP itself
Spatial Anomaly: nice modification with two new locations and interesting story
Another Zone Mod: nice short modification with good atmosphere and quests
Also you should try NLC, difficult global modification with unique design.
And if you like trash mods - try Zaurus Crew modifications

@swift cairn What it says on the tin, a mod that a myriad of people have worked on, with the point of it being to cram as much content into it as humanly possible. Thus it is called peoples soup. This of course means that quality of alot of the stuff in the mod is... rather low to say the least. As you can imagine it is an administrative nightmare to keep track and balance, fix and improve upon all the content. Due to the quantity of content you will easily reach hundreds of hours of playtime. Also the mods tend to be autistic levels of hard, and you will usually have to think outside the box to resolve an issue

There are some really good and atmospheric modifications, for example:
Oblivion Lost Remake - modification restoring S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Oblivion Lost 2002-2003 design documents ideas, gives vibes of "that" Stalker game.
Valley of Whispers - short CoP based modification with atmosphere as close as possible to the original CoP.
Spatial Anomaly - modification with 2 new locations and interesting storytelling
Another Zone Mod - just short atmospheric mod.
And yes, for the long durating gameplay i'd recommend some "soup" mods. Narodnaya Solyanka 2016, OP 2.1, and some others.
Also you can try mods as "Game of Souls", but those are medium quality

Opinions are very different from person to person, most people i've met loved Goldsphere, but it's only machine translation (hand translation is in the making). Game of Souls is brilliant but no translation
i'd recommend SFZ Project - Episode Zero, which is just a demo of an upcoming mod, but it'll give you 3-5 hours of great immersion and a unique atmosphere. + a mode called "Escape from Cordon" in it.

It is drawing the icon, as far as I can tell. What I assume is the indicator icon info is still present in the HUD file, along with it's correct alignment (compared to stock CoP), so they're not pulling a fast one on me by just making the icon appear off screen...

If you like slow progression, survival elements and challenging gameplay then Dead Air is great. The mod isn't story oriented but there are some goals you can give yourself.
Example:
- get better loot
- progress further north
- explore and loot all the labs and underground locations
- setup a camp
- meet the wish granter
Getting better gear is tricky, since npcs drop broken guns all the time. Occasionally they drop a weapon that isn't in condition to be used but repairing it could save you some money and effort. Traders restock on loot every week or so, but they won't offer you good weaponry. If you give the traders of factions documents from labs, they will offer you better guns, armor, etc. You can also "exchange loot" with normal stalkers, depending on the price of the items.
The best ways to make money imo are doing jobs, selling mutant parts and later selling artifacts.
You can setup a nice camp, where you can place a sleeping bag, a backpack to store loot and some light source (lantern, glowstick, flashlight). You can do this anywhere but npcs can steal your loot so you must place the backpack in a safe spot.
If you get yourself some decent gear, then you can progress further north via the Red Forest, which is extremely radioactive and full of fog. Your PDA doesn't work there and mutants are out to get you. If you somehow get to Zaton, Jupiter where artifacts are everywhere to get hold of, you're gonna make some good money.
The story is very basic, you meet the doctor somewhere in the west of the swamps, you get the psi protection helmet in Yantar, you go to the CNPP and make your wish.

So let's see. OLR and Dead Air run standalone, which means I can shove other mods onto the actual installs of each game...ZRP with Autumn Aurora ontop for SHoC, SRP then OGSM and Absolute Nature for CS, and then I have no idea for CoP mods beyond AtmosFear and Absolute Nature
