I'd say it's less of an attachment and more that we see a lot of potential; there's a lot of stuff we don't know about them that could be really interesting, and GSC are (in my eyes) fantastic storytellers so building on them in a good way is likely.
Take Strelok for example, especially in SoC, he strikes me as a very haunted man even before dicovering the C-Con. And his compulsions to continue heading north don't seem to be based purely on greed or burning curiosity...
And Scar certainly has (had) a lot of experience behind him that could be expanded on.

- No... The decision about leaving it or cutting will be made only on the "polish" stage, but now we think that it's useless to make it in some "local" variation. Multiplayer is such a thing, that... Quake, for example, had great MP, but SP part wasn't the best. It's impossible to make both of them equally good. You should choose one. If MP is good, we will release it of course, it's not hard, but we want to make it special. Counter Strike can't be imagined without the SP part, so Stalker MP is like a "superstructure" for the SP. I think it don't take us long time, if we won't count the first add-on. It will be the MP you would like to see.

Fun fact - developers (and even Griga himself) knew that their guns only based on the real ones but a lot different from originals, that even the bolt is placed on the left side instead of right on rifles, like AKs and etc. During that time (and I think now) they didn't have any gun expert or military guy. In that interview Grigorovich also said, that they wouldn't change bolt's position, because it would take him some time and money to reanimate that thing.
So stop asking them to make the guns look accurate. It's part of the Stalker universe.
