There is a successor mod to CoC called CotZ (Call of the Zone). It makes a few tweaks one may or may not be a fan of, but it’s one of the best experiences I’ve had in modded Stalker.

It’s not any more stable than CoC and has its share of bugs.
Most the tweaks are very subtle, so it’s hard to say what exactly is different. It’s not an overhaul like Anomaly or Misery.
A few things I can say from memory:
-Health for everything is lower, Pseudogiants just about die to a Armsel Protectica’s worth of buckshot, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen, even in misery and/or anomaly.
-there are a lot more radiant quests with a lot more variety.
-a lower NPC spawn rate. This has its pros and cons, but I appreciated not having to fight something every 2 feet like in CoC. CoC always felt like a constant battlezone.
-Dynamic Anomalies. This is a change I really enjoyed. Gravity anomalies will appear around after emissions, sometimes blocking common paths.
Generally, I found that it significantly more fun. The CoC-based mods usually have a dearth of actual things to do in the interesting world of the zone. CotZ gives you more to do and makes doing it a tad more interesting, in my experience.

Ads tightens spread even on shotguns. It's weird. Easy to test on the wall at yanov. Try to hipfire from 20 feet then ads you'll see the shots tighten

I've never had that problem, personally, although I have heard it can happen. Mercifully, Pripyat isn't too long so I would just make a hard save prior to Pripyat and save a lot (in different files) throughout. Give it a go and let us know how you get on! 👍

it never happened to me. Make a hardsave before Pripyat and try it out, if it does break your save just install ZRP and load the hard save before Pripyat.

As a new Stalker, what should I carry with me? What should I stash?
Other than firearms, of course.

In my personal opinion always try to carry more than 150 bullets for an assault rifle, 90 bullets for a shotgun and just in case, 50 pistol ammo if you need a backup weapon.
At least 5 medkits, more than 5 bandages, 3 anti-rad medicines and 4 sosej, 3 bread and 2 cans of food. Medkits and stuff like that shouldn't be too hard to get. This overall comes down to like 30-35 kilogrammes depending on what armour you have.

depends on how you play. I like to travel light and carry a sidearm, usually a Kora-919 with 60 rounds. And an AKM-74/2 with 300 rounds. Half FMJ, half AP. 3 portions of food, 3 medkits, 3 antirads and 10 bandages

Now SoC Nimble has no info on CS Nimble because CS wasn't even being worked on when SoC dropped. When you save Tolik, you can read on the PDA about his deeds in Agroprom, but not Nimble, because in 2004 plot there was no Nimble, Tolik was the one who had the info Sidorovich needed. But i suppose it is now established that they are the same person

@still ridge, as i know, Controllers, Burers, Poltergeists, Bloodsuckers and Pseudogiants(and Izloms, if they are canon) are all results of a series of experiments called "Universal Soldier", C-cons was testing influence of noosphere, psi-emission and radiation on people, Burer and Poltergeist got telekenesis, Controller and Izlom - telepathy, Bloodsucker - invisibility, and some other details, after the second explosion on the Generators, all these mutants got escaped, also got some new abilities, and became a part of the fauna of The Zone.

Alternatively, the mimic looks like a Strelok. Alternatively, the laboratory was working on a "universal soldier" project, experimenting with prisoners (by-products of the project - controller, burer, mimic). At the end, the player finds information about the successful completion of the experiment - a superfighter was created that looks exactly like a human. In addition, there are records about the last minutes of the laboratory's life - the superfighter broke free and released other "prototypes".
this is all the info we have on it, and it never happened. So, at least for now, it is simply cut content. Although i'm not against using it as a headcanon

@grand pendant, welp... Anyway, we have confirmation that C-cons experimented with people and all of stuff like this, so there is a possibility, that experiments like these are... um... potentional. Also i don't think that mutants like Controllers could've mutated just because of radiation and some noosphere affect.
