The difference should be that you die slower, but you still die. So my tip is: don't go into anomalies. (I can't really help, because I don't know about this, I haven't been stepping into anomalies, but radiation protection artifacts definately works for me.)

anyone know how to get through the tunnel at spawn with the electric anomaly?

There's basically a pattern for it which is pretty easy to remember. When an anomaly disappears, move into the tunnel and wait until the next one disappears. These dots represent the pattern
