In my first few minutes with Anomaly, I was hunting some bandits to get patches for the scam art-I mean, Sidorovich and got into a firefight with three of them at the car park. Said firefight wound up attracting not only a cat but a snork as well. I managed to get a few lucky shots off on the snork and killed it while the other bandits and cats all stepped into an anomaly and exploded.
All in all, not a bad start so far.

What I think happened is they wanted players to start the game fighting low level enemy’s to introduce the faction war system so they went with bandits but later one of two things happened. One they didn’t want two of three faction wars to include bandits because it would lack variety but they didn’t want to create an entirely new faction so they branded one bandit group the renegades. Two they were fine with two faction wars including bandits but had to make a new faction due to glitches. I think the first theory is true
It could also be the second theory since they share there models with bandits and become friendly when you join the bandits
