Anomaly is basically a mega upgraded version of coc, with 3 main quest lines which together with the difficulty of the mod, will get you wayyyyy more playtime than coc, plus it's way more enjoyable

don't pay any attention to what saintjester says about it, he has his opinion and he dislikes anomaly alot so he's biased, i suggest you give it a try

There's also SGM, but it's quite buggy at times, plus there's some questionable design, but I was mostly having fun nonetheless. Mostly. Even with all the annoying mechanics

And then there's OGSR which I actually haven't played through fully, but as far as I've played it, it's a very good mod, the only thing I dislike about it is the annoying medkit mechanic where after a few medkit their effectiveness decreases and you have to drink some water to get the full effect again

#

its important to have an open mind and not be a constant critic when playing games, to have fun, so try things out - most of the time what other people say might not even apply to you

Hahaha, so, they went to collect rain water from a building, to throw some purification pills and drink it.
The knew that in the same building they settled there where other people, heard voices and noises.
They where secretly covering the windows to not attract any unwanted visitors, suddenly they hear steps and scare the S up!
two more Stalkers come out of the darkness and they start shaking hands.

I am playing CoP and I just finished the unidentified weapon mission with captain Tarasov and his squad: I did some research and found in wiki and reddit that if you dont interact with Tarasov at the start of the mission his squad (including him) stay in the same place, I did that and it worked, I killed all the monolith and got the weapon and returned to Kovalsky. In the dialogue with Kovalsky I only had the option to say that some men did fall during the mission (which Im guessing is the squads sniper since his fate is always death) but in the hideout I dont see Tarasov hanging around nor the others from the squad. After leaving the mission area I saw Tarasov standing in the same place from the start and left him like that, the other squad members were gone. So did I acutally save him and his squad or not? (I am running vanilla+atmosfear+absolute nature 4, I doubt it makes any difference)

Oh and as for stealth... Forget about it. It doesn't work. You can do things like turn torch off in night so you can hide in the dark a little. But trust me. Enemies will see you eventually

Trick is to shoot before they do. Use the environment around you, don't just rush forward blindly. Use your brain a little and engage just a little tactic and you'll breeze through the game trust me

You'll get used to the quirks of the game sooner rather than later. Just keep one thing in mind, spraying like a madman doesn't work. Aim for the head and use short bursts with automatic weapons. This also helps to conserve ammo early in the game.
