there's a lot of mods built on top of it but as of now the major ones worth paying attention to are Anomaly and Dead Air

There's this thing called the time_to_hit variable that makes people think that where basically the first shot does full damage and subsequent shots do less within a certain amount of time, besides that just janky ballistics and early game weapons being trash

#

That's why every STALKER player develops the habit of shooting guys until they stagger, waiting a moment, and then shooting them in the head. It's kinda dumb but in mods with better gunplay it's different

People saw their bullets don't seem to do damage sometimes and spread a rumor that the game does a RNG roll on every shot and that's affected by the difficulty, where supposedly on master both you and enemies have a higher chance of hitting. Idk why this still circulates when you can look at the actual game files.

Difficulty doesn't change anything about the damage you do, you just take less damage on lower difficulty, but the reason you feel you're doing better on master is you're playing smart, it's placebo

Yeah, this is why I tend to prefer the atmospheric mods and then I add in some weapon realism addons that make everyone more lethal. A lot of the hardcore difficulty mods just drop you into bruteforce scenarios like that, and I mean, I can do it... but it's not what I consider fun.

Someone needs to make an appreciation reddit for NatVac (SoC) and Decane (CS) for the amount of time they put in for fixing the stalker games to its true vanilla potential. CoC is more or less in limbo. I do believe there are devs working but not coding, if that makes sense. There is the hope that a team will come together in May or June and finish R7. Then here's hoping addon creators will get busy.

me and a couple of friends (4 of us) enjoyed the stalker saga the most , played a shitload of mods and even made self-challenges for the game. the point is that we founded the multiplayer to be really fun and we just were curious if there was any mod or maps for the MP mod
