#Suggestion from me and my community in regards to the campaigns

I was talking with my community today and all though the recycled events are cool for the new players some of us players/captains who have been around for 2-3 rounds of these events could be getting bored with them. I know personally I am. Is there a way to get maybe 1-2 new events to split up the recycled ones? Like in june and december maybe?

For sure! How about even an Arena Kingdoms crossover event? Are you guys able to drag over some of those assets to Raiders? Maybe an event like Petcapades with just a ton of the pets as enemies. Maybe our "kills" are really just symbolically shipping them to the land of AK where they live in a box until we find one. gPbbt

This is one of the most requested things in the survey we had some months ago. Sadly, until we can stop focusing on Arena Kingdoms, we won't have the resources to create a brand new Campaign.

Agreed. I am getting bored as a player as well! Some new events or even some themed maps (Christmas) would be nice. I notice myself playing less and less. Especially now that low level units seem to do best in dungeons, there is just no need to grind your way to multiple lvl 30's so no need to place in a lot of campaign battles to get scrolls.

@dull field I do understand that a lot of work is going into Arena Kingdoms but I do fear for Stream Raiders if things continue the way they are going

Here is something I'd like to mention regarding this. During a dev stream shortly after the first layoffs for CTV, we were all talking about the future of SR. Kermond asked if we would be ok with "a couple of reruns of events" until the company was able to manage things. Of course we all agreed because a couple means two. I think we are going on 2 years of this now. There is a lack of excitement. I hate to be the one to say it, and maybe it's just me. I hope it's just me. But I haven't even opened SR in days... the first time in years. 😦

There is so much more that can be done. For me the problem is captaintv decision making. They don't seem to see the potential of the game. I hope they can sell it of to a gaming company who is interested in the product. Simply ignoring can not be done for to much longer. We are losing good captains left and right. We all chipped in during the ctv skinathon and the time to start to deliver something back is already overdue. Losing hope here.

The other thing I noticed is it’s always the same few reruns. Why not rerun the ones we’ve yet to see yet like Abduction? Really old ones nobody except super old captains/viewers played? We def need new though, no doubt about it!!! At least one new event every 3 months.

I am honestly tired of playing the same reruns over and over and over again. It also doesn’t give any incentive to show the battles on the stream anymore because once you’ve seen one you’ve seen them all. There used to be an excitement about showing battles on stream to see how our units would handle the enemies. Now there is no such excitement. Nobody cares. The only excitement MIGHT be in dungeons and even then, it’s seriously less. Versus and duels are not exciting to most people. Should reward us with more rubies for time spent, at least in versus. Same amount of time as dungies and seriously less rewards. I run Vs more than dungies cause I don’t have the brain capacity to sit ON and thinking about every little decision for 8+ hours at a time. But I can run versus. Make the rewards more appealing and more people will play.

We LOVE stream raiders. I personally feel you probably still have more people PLAYING sr than arenas. Why not split your time and effort between the two? I don’t understand.

Stream raiders made this community and y’all have been pretty much abandoning it for other endeavours that seem to eventually all get yanked from under our feat like pirates and now the dead nitro….. So why not focus on sr half the time, now that it’s ACTUALLY profitable, and start making it MORE fun and new and exciting again and profits will rise cause more people again and more frequently. It’s not rocket science. Give people what they want. We’ve been telling you for years but seems to fall on deaf ears.

Also there’s things you can already implement like: Add all the previous mini-thon variations to the unlocks for skins thons, instead of just the old 3 holo and diamond and gold. That right there would be great incentive for communities to hit that goal too.

You already let us choose our skin genre for boosted, that would be another great step ^

Making more variations for new mini thons would also be good idea.

We really need a breath of fresh air blowing through raiders to help keep folks around and playing otherwise this community will eventually be a ghost community, no matter how good arenas is.

nimble frigate
#

That's one of the main problems. They start things and then abandon them to restart them backup in a worse form. The cost for skins are covered now by raising the cost up to a 150. Then why in the world is it a problem to organise a mini-thon? And it's for a recolour!

#

We had a problem with dungeons running for ever. What do we do? Hell mode. New unit amazon introduced. Takes on legendary boons. Well, not anymore it does! We had range boons and AOE boons for them. Well, not anymore! So now there close to useless. Dungeons has become a freak level 1 drop show. Vibe markers barely see level 30. Doing great CTV!

#

They had a great pvp community back in the day. Well not anymore you do!

It breaks my heart that THAT is the answer. Now, this is coming from the biggest Arena Kingdoms House Leader and I'm probably one of the FEW streamers that still does Arena Kingdoms live (but even that is disappointing but those are post for the AK discord..). My game is Stream Raiders. At the beginning of the year we had a CTV Skinathon and we raised a TON of money for CTV. I love that, it was fun, but it went towards Arena Kingdoms and some minor SR fixes. I would LOVE to participate in another STREAM RAIDERS SKINATHON that benefits STREAM RAIDERS.

Arena Kingdom doesn't build or reinforce the community that SR has, the ONLY thing that is keeping SR going is us streamers and our communities. Please listen to the above posts and help us help you guys make SR amazing.

Let us have the Mini-Thons back (Christmas is coming up!), let's get some new campaigns in rotation, and let us help OUR GAME.

#

I say all this with absolute love and understanding, I am fully aware that you guys are running a bare bones crew. We just love SR and we want what is best for YOU GUYS and our communities that love the game.

If when the developers first floated the idea of recycling campaigns to save money, I had known they were going to stop ALL new campaigns for over 2 years... I would have pushed hard against it. I had presumed that they were talking every other month, or at worst maybe releasing 4 campaigns a year. The worst part is of this situation for example what happened with the Polterhiest campaign. This was the first event I for SR that I played, and it had a bugged superboss map as the escort book would get stuck behind everything. I reported this back then. Nothing was done, but I shrugged and said well the event is over now and it is not a problem. Then you bring the event back 2 years later, still not fixed. Reported yet again and still nothing was done. Then for some insane reason, you stick it into a dungeon, STILL bugged. You pull it out eventually, but the damage was done. You can say we need to focus our resources into a new project all you want, but how can you expect people to poor resources into CTV when it seems like you have abandoned Stream Raiders? I've stopped buying the battlepass, and I assure you I have no intention on buying another unless you figure out how to support an existing game that your player base clearly enjoys while developing new games. I'm not going to say that you need a new campaign every month, you don't. But you can't NEVER release new events and expect people to keep giving you money. I love Stream Raiders, but your making it hard to continue to support.

the lack of captain-to-community interaction is kinda what drove me away from arena kingdoms, like it doesn't feel like a community game in the same way nitro and pirates were. Feels like there is little incentive for me to run a house, when the arena kingdoms discord already exists then what's really the point of us as captains. I was really afraid that AK would take significant resources away from SR, and my fears appear to have been confirmed. I know I have only been back for a few months, and honestly I'm happy to be able to experience events that I missed in the 3-and-a-half year break that I took from the game, but it's clear that a good amount of players that have committed to the game for longer are feeling burnout from a lack of fresh content. I'd say speedruns would be great for returning events and that full-length events should be fresher content.

#

Especially now that you've monetised AK, it can be put towards furthering development for both it and stream raiders.

To be honest, I am dumping the equivalent of a full priced AA title into SR every month since end of 2020 (battle pass + 50 US$ skin gifts for the event skins).... and this was the first month I was questioning myself what I do this for... some endless reruns of the same content, paired with FOMO on skins because I can't keep up with the grind for rubies and tickets and on top scrolls for Necros and Warlocks are being kept sparse for no apparent reason

#

I really want to love SR as I did before, but it's getting harder

Old events that lack much depth should only come back as speedruns. A month of Tabletopia isn't where I wanna be, and yet I'm here. Clash weekend helps, but I'm not looking forward to this, and that's sad...

When I saw that 3 out of the 4 loyalty skins were from the previous Tabletopia run I was definitely let down, if you're gonna do a full length event you gotta do something to make it worth it i reckon

I started back in SR because the ability to grow as a tiny captain in AK (no pun intended) is practically nil. But SR is also suffering. So many great suggestions mentioned; that could go to the top of the tickets and be there in some shape for the holidays.

#

Because AK is just one type of game with a specific group of players and you experienced first hand what putting all resources into one game can do.

#

At least small captains in SR have a better chance at growth for them and the game. Feels like there needs to be some redirect

#

And the high cost FOMO model is terrible.

#

It shouldn't even be implemented in a game that is trying to keep players and bring in revenue. Because it is proven to do the opposite unless you have a strong steady stream of new players. Which Arena Kingdoms is also not providing as an opportunity to see other CTV games.

little wind
#

There was a great suggestion for a cross-over event. That could be a 'simpler' task - change up assets. At least it would be different!

amber copper
#

I am hoping that season 2 of AK brings in features that are good for streamers so the game can grow more. I have mostly stopped playing SR because I can only focus on one game at a time, and the non-timed (except for when arenas run) nature of AK works better for me.

I see a lot of requires for live 1 on 1 gauntlets in AK, that would be the type of thing that would benefit streamers.

Adding a little more to this, we're 4 days into the campaign event and I'm already starting to feel burnout, might just wait for the next dungeons event at this point.

I imagine we will become important again in a few months time. It's turning into an unhealthy relationship where it's taken for granted that the SR community will keep on ticking on.

But for all the people who have offered suggestions, responded, or shared how they feel in this thread - there are multiples who haven't shared here but within their own communities/streams.

Hey all - wanted to share some insights into my pov here.

I've shared a bit of this on past dev streams, but some may not have seen them or have forgotten.

We have been doing everything we can to keep Raiders going despite it not being profitable to do so. (and possibly at our own expense). Just to be clear, that means that Raiders does not contribute at all to the salary of the team members that are working on Arena Kingdoms (myself included).

Without being profitable, we've had to try and find paths that could allow us to sustain the business (and not have to shutdown Captain.tv, including Raiders). To do that, we have to find people willing to give us money to invest in our games or new games.

You may think 'you should not have raised money to build games if that meant you couldn't focus on Stream Raiders'. Well, we should all be thankful that we did raise money, because that paid for us to be able to quit our jobs and build Stream Raiders in the first place!! But raising money from investors also comes with expectations for growth + a return.

You may think 'just take a bet on Raiders to grow it'. A few things... A) we did for 3+ years fully staffed B) we need capital to do that (i.e. to pay our salaries while we try and figure it out) and not all investors are willing to give us $$ for a 5+ year old game C) we have existing limitations from our past investors (i.e. this isn't just my company)

You may think 'you should have done or should just do A/B/C differently'. Fair! There's a lot that I'd do differently knowing what I know now 🙂 But, we do always try and do our best to make awesome games and support our players, community, and streamers - whether it feels like it or not. But keep in mind, you should not take it out on the team - if you have feedback or feel like things should have been done differently, you should point that at me 🙂

You may be disappointed that Raiders isn't our focus or that it isn't reaching anywhere near it's potential. Let me tell you, we share that disappointment! There's a reason we still are trying to keep it, and CTV, going! It's fine to be disappointed, mad, upset at that.

It's not as simple as 'just go do this one thing and it will grow'. We love the ideas for ways we can keep things fresh or improve the Raiders experience, and I'm not ruling out that we'd ever be able to do those or come back to building more than we do today in Raiders. But we've tried to be very clear with expectations for what we had to do to keep moving forward in the past 6-12 months to have a shot at that happening down the line! We'll let you know if/when we have news on this front.

I will say, now that we've launched a game on Discord and Twitch, and because more game platforms are comign out, we've been able to have conversations with MANY different platforms + teams about our games. ex: we never had the chance to talk to Twitch about our games (including Raiders) before, but just had the chance to this week to talk with their CEO.

Lastly, thanks for being here, for caring, and for pushing us to build the best games + experiences we can. Sorry if you're dissappointed, but I appreciate you continuing to care and support us by playing these games. I know that all the above messages come primarily from a place of love for Raides, the community, what we have, and what it could be. So thank you!

Thanks for the reply, Brad.

I don't think it actually addressed what people have said, more highlighted the current focus path, and defended decisions made since the CTV skinathon.

Which is fine. Some people may not have known the deep lore. But it does clarify for me intentions with SR, and I guess the future of the game rests on further investments.

Good luck! The community deserves a future; they are awesome

# ashen hatch Tl;dr: they don't make money so they are spending what they have trying to grow ...

maybe i'd tweak to say 'we raised money so we could keep going by saying your money investors will go to launching a new game (arena) on a new platform (discord) to start'. mostly trying to illuminate that it's not just that we have a pile of money we could put anywhere and hate stream raiders so much that we won't spend a dime on it.

also, that we've made sacrifices to try and keep raiders going.

Yet again, told one thing then told “we know what’s best” when sheet hits the fan.
Year(s) ago I stopped butting in here but man, everything I said was happening just keeps on.

This business tactic is only good on paper and the backs of the community(FOMO), what happens when the community no longer wants to be the backbone?

Is there At least a strategy so that if you can’t keep doing SR, someone else can? So The Community doesn’t lose out of their skins and other things that helped them AND CTV?

Or Are you trying to keep hold of stream raiders so tight that you are willing to have US lose everything if you stop? Like Pirates? like Nitro?
You held pirates after the outcry from the community and claimed you did it to bring it back, but imo you’ve proved that’s not the case; you’ve proven you don’t have the finances or the motivation to host such a game anymore that CTV is gone; Competitive CTV took over.

There is a game most people in your Active Paying Community wants and has spoken out on on numerous occasions, and you are refusing to release it to the public to have or work on it yourselves.

"You may think" To keep treating us like we are ignorant to how business works or how investing does, is imo just belittling after all these years.

Years of us offering crowd funding, paying for PVP(And other Types) Passes, events for fundings, etc accepting SR isn’t profitable STILL should be shameful to even say to any investors yet alone the community.

The pity parties are over.

Most of the captains are not converting to Project Arenas(cooler name imo) and most if not everything told to us has changed to something else without YET AGAIN transparency.

“Entitled” is what some of the bigger streamers and influences (not influencer) on CTV called us when we spoke out before, with the state of things today; I hope putting down those who cared a lot was worth it.

Also we are all adults here stop apologizing for speaking your truths and feelings, if they are not respected or acknowledged that’s not a fault in you. We are a strong community, you advertise this game play it stream it invest in it and so does your community; you have a right to speak and stand up for your beliefs. Be proud you had the guts to speak up against something you love but feel is being mishandled, mistreated or misrepresented. I’m proud of some of you for speaking up. Keep up the good work 👍🏾

one last note since I broke my hiatus of speaking up here;
Is it possible to add a clause in our TOS/Partnership agreement that if you guys file for bankruptcy captains get rights to their respective skins before any form of liquidation or transfer of rights? Some peoples communities put in a lot of effort, financially, mentally and emotionally into the skins. I’d hate to see someone fumble so many peoples desires and efforts…again

When and about how many times did you make it clear that the Ctv Skinathon was actually to benefit Arena Kingdoms? @cursive summit Strangely enough, I can easily recall the many times you vocalized that Stream Raiders does not make any profit. 🙄When a mistake is calculated, is it really a mistake⁉️🤔 Deceptive behavior is not something that I want to be associated with and I also don't appreciate being talked down to. We as Captains don't need a business degree to see and understand that something isn't quite right. 😒

Moving forward, I will choose to put my time, money, and support elsewhere. Your words and actions show that you really don't appreciate or value the Stream Raiders community. 😔 I cannot in good conscience encourage my community to give their hard earned money to a company that refuses to invest in it's own product.
With all that being said, I wish nothing but the best for all the Captains🫂

I feel you Jazzi and many of the comments in this post. I still feel like a new kid on the block when it comes to Stream Raiders because a lot of these repeat events are "new" for me. I imagine it's frustrating to the older captains that have been a part of this for years.

I love CTV, I LOVE LOVE Stream Raiders and I am enjoying Arena Kingdoms. I will be playing Raiders until the very end.. My community loves and supports me with it and I'll continue to support all the new captains, affiliates and partners because most of us are here FOR THE COMMUNITY.

That right there will keep the game running. The new content is our skins that we release, but I'm a tad nervous because the past few weeks we have skins coming out that are incorrect. I know in the past months of at least 6 errors only because I showcase skins on Friday's and have comments coming back from that content. Again, I know we are dealing with a small team, but if we encourage our communities to spend money, then we need to get what we promise.

I am not a business major, I was a marketing major. I know how to advertise and keep a brand fresh. This isn't it. I sincerely hope that this changes but.. I'll be playing Raiders until the end. I hope that isn't soon. I adore Stream Raiders. Please please hear us.

Let us have another Variant Mini-Thon (bring back an older one if we need), and let us have another Skinathon for Raiders. I'll be glad to help again, I'm sure many of us would. Let us have another Crawl! Those were chaotic and fun. (Maybe turn down dungeons a tad.. once a month is a lot and may captains use saved dungeons to help their affiliate/partner pushes, it removes the excitement of dungeons to have them at so frequently.) Again these are just small things to help a bit, I only know what I see in the community and these things have been asked for quiet a bit.

Thank you for the games, thank you for the community. It's not all doom and gloom, I personally see new captains DAILY in my stream excited to become a part of this amazing community.

Some other critical SR feedback:

  • boosted skinathons. These are when the community gives away CTV "exclusive" skins. If Meistar and I didn't voice concerns a year ago, we would've had 1.5 years of the same steampunk skin set which had nothing exclusive about it beyond its expiration date (3 months...). Who would pay for that?! So we could dip back into the old stash - thank you - but that is also beginning to turn stale again... because while there are new players, a lot of the people who drop bank into SR HAVE all these skins from the many boosteds they've previously supported.
I know making new skins costs money, but these events also bring in money. You can look and see poor performance of boosted skinathons due to which skins are being used - things everyone already has and doesn't need or want. Instead of prioritizing skins for tickets, why aren't we prioritizing skins for boosted skinathons??? Things people pay for a chance to unlock - in the THOUSANDS. I am just mindblown by this oversight. If you can afford to make new skins for rubies, you can afford to make them for boosted skinathons that actually pull in money for the company...
The math doesn't support this whole thing either. Boosted rules say you can only win 1 time during an active skinathon. What happens when the majority owns those skins already? A community spent 750 worth of SP to unlock that boosted and can't actually celebrate? One way to offset this is to allow captains to use their own skins for boosted, I guess, if you have no plans on making new ones. Otherwise it is just a waste of money invested in hitting that milestone.

I agree that the crawls and minithons helped to breathe more life back into SR when they occurred and I know it takes time to set it all up. But you gotta nurture this game with love and not just think the community will carry it forward - that's what got us into our current state. I opened SR only to support friends in 2 recent skinathons and closes it again. We need TLC here. It's on life support.

calm radish
#

This 10000% this. We worked so hard to get the Boosted rewards changed and that was awesome AND proof that this community cares and wants SR to succeed. But other than the Twitter post/banner Boosteds aren’t worth it. I have one coming up scheduled and I don’t even want to give those skins away.

New campaigns, new skins. Yes it costs money we are all aware, but my gosh how are we supposed to support? Help us help you. Pleeeeeease.

I typically don't respond to things but after reading on everything above, I wanna put my 2 cents in.

I do really like the idea of an Arena kingdoms/Stream Raiders crossover event. Like Meistar was saying, it wouldn't be as much like starting completely from scratch. The assets are already there and the idea of the heroes maybe becoming the bosses, and then the enemies are all of the smaller common and uncommon units. It would be fun and it would bring attention to both Stream Raiders AND Arena Kingdoms. Basically where all the maps would be for a different hero

For the boosted skinathons, I do agree with Star and Yecats. Yes it is great that we as CTV Partners are able to give out old CTV boosted skins, eventually, enough boosted skinathons go by and people are collecting all of the skins that there wouldn't be a point for us to have boosted skinathons in the first place. Cause as of recent boosted's, I think all there was, was the banner on the site but I don't think I have seen the tweets about the Boosted skinathons (but that could be me not paying attention)

I would say that you shouldn't feel like you can't ask us for help. I LOVE Stream Raiders and will keep supporting it till the end. BUT if we were to do another skinathon for CTV, I think we would say that have the money go towards SR and be able to be used to help you all with paying the staff, make new events etc. I like the idea of doing the Crawls and the minithons. My community loved the idea of being able to unlock a new variant to put on their favorite skin. And the Crawls were a great way to showcase all sorts of captains and giving out those exclusive skins or maybe even battle pass codes too

Overall, all of this feedback that we are giving, it comes from love, heart, and some disappointments that we as captains see and hear. We want good things for Stream Raiders, Arena Kingdoms is great, but I feel as though SR needs some polishing up and we all just want it to succeed

One more thing since Brad is in this message thread but may miss things in the main server. Why was the Black Friday sale stopped this year? We were only told no sale without a reason. As far as I know, while it reduced the price for consumers, it also reduced the SP for captains... eliminating the previous problem with the sale.
Do the current developers just not know how to go in and make changes? Guessing not since there's gonna be a cyber Monday sale according to rhada. Did the team forget and now it's too late to set up the form? Since there's so many claims of transparency, it'd just be nice to know the reason here... because without a reason, it just confirms suspicions that CTV has stopped caring about SR. Having evidence of the opposite would be reassuring, even though there's still tons of unaddressed issues.

peak bloom
#

I would also like to know this. Even though the skin price would be lower there are alot of captains that could bring in way more sales than they do normally which in return would be more money for CTV atkeast that is my thoughts on the black friday sale.

so for 1. wasn't that the point of the opt-out system? for 2. If captains aren't seeing any significant value as 1. states, how does create a backlog of skins? Since if there is enough being earned for a backlog in the first place, then that must mean it would be generating more revenue right? Maybe I'm just dumb but that's how I interpret it.

ashen hatch
#

That's how it went in that channel as well

hallow sapphire
little wind
#

That all sounds like an indirect way of saying that because of how the system was originally set up; if they encourage any sales then they are making zero return.

#

Perhaps one of the main reasons we are in this situation is any forecasting for SR has shown that they need an unfeasible number of new affiliate/partner captains to come up through the new SP system to show a viable return. That mistakes were made with initial investments, and what made sense to the "Powers that Be" was to put the SR skinathon money into the development of a new game so they could court new investors and then maybe, just maybe, they could then trickle money into SR. Because to come out and say how dire the situation is, would start turning away their biggest contributors (players and captains).

All of these in-game economy changes are to encourage more play hours in the game. In the hopes that it keeps the game floating until new investors show up.

But we're not considered shareholders so we don't get an honest conversation about it. Only condescending vague responses or none at all. 🙃

So many great suggestions have been made, even if they were tweaked, but the SR team is either too small to attempt any of them; or have no communication on what to do with it all, so do nothing but struggle with the ever growing bug tickets.

It's a shame.

At one point I suggested creating a "hardcore mode" (before 150 sp was the thing, but we were brainstorming ideas to help) that's 200 SP per unlock and you can toggle whether you want to choose hard mode or not. Maybe it gives you something utterly useless in addition to the skin unlock like a badge, etc the possibilities for the extra are unlimited. But it would have increased the cost of earning a skin by double (from 100). I was willing to enable said "hard mode" to help.
The other suggestion that was said somewhere, can't remember where now, was reduction of % we get back as affiliate and partner. If after changing to 150 sp, raiders still isn't turning profit, then something still needs to change. And like we've seen before, sooner than later.

that and/or perhaps a price increase to like 6/12/30 for flag/head, full and gold/diamond skins, not a huge increase but it might help? Not sure how captains would feel about having their payouts cut a little bit, but I feel like most wouldn't mind going off of feedback.
