I wanted to report separate oddities with the former Badlands Superboss (the one with the behemoth and the dragon eggs). For the purposes of the canonical way to beat this boss, normally there are two eggs. They hatch in 30 seconds so you have to defend them because only they can kill the behemoth, at least canonically.

This boss was also in past dungeons runs but I wouldn't be able to pinpoint which exact previous dungeons runs they were part of.

Usually you can either put armored around the units or, in my case, stack pinning archers to pin the Behemoth, but in my run, once the eggs hatched the dragons, the dragons were also doing minimal damage and I eventually won close to the timer ending.

Separately, in an unrelated issue with my own, @deft sonnet also had a run on that boss, but seemingly, in his run, the Behemoth died even before the eggs hatched.

My dragons are doing like one damage when they say they should be doing 100, causing me to fail on this boss over and over.

Okay. So I thought it was just me.

One encounter we just won because the timer ran out and we had more units.

Another time, we defeated the boss, but barely before the time ended.

Each time the eggs hatched for me, but were doing hardly any damage.

I would like to credit @royal chasm for this because he mentioned it in someone's stream last night, but I also want to report that you can kill the Ancient Behemoth with a warrior soul and if the intent is only the dragons can kill it (from memory, in practice, Ancient Behemoths would only take one damage from anything not a dragon), then this likely is a workaround until any fix occurs.

Apologies if I am conflating two bug reports in this thread:

  • The dragons are not doing the intended amount of damage to the final boss
  • The presence of the warrior soul allows units to kill the boss before the eggs hatch

The YouTube video I posted this morning was reflective of the latter, rather than the former and I think these are two distinct issues. If I understand correctly, the most recent patch today has addressed the former.

I had a run with @proper current and we did a similar play to my YouTube video where we were seeing if the latter was addressed, where we had an epic pinning archer and a non-epic pinning archer, both of which had the warrior soul. We believe the latter was not addressed.

Granted, this was a very old boss, it well-predated the presence of spells and souls, so I understand how this may have been an unintended consequence if so, but the description of the Ancient Behemoth explicitly says it can only be attacked by the dragons.
