Sounds like a virus protection problem, no other good reason for things to completely disappear. Maybe check whatever you use and see if it is being put in quarantine.
completely delete the folder of captain tv/uninstall from the hub, then reinstall from scratch is the way to fix this. when you reinstall the client technically you're overwriting the files. But it is well known that it leads to errors. So sometimes the file itself may disappear in case of such error. So best is to completely delete the folder and then reinstall from scratch.
