"wait 5 months for the latest intel generation cpus"
they will end up with a Tiger Lake cpu
which is slower than the zen3 chips
so, please, do elaborate on your logic
because so far, you are not making any logical sense.
Read again @covert steppe
There might be some links you might not be making. 11th gen Intel is Tiger lake.
We have a Tiger lake CPU benchmarked right up there, the 1185G7.
that is your choice. i am honestly curious how you think things actually work thou.
oy! you have to pay mike a cut on that popcorn @hardy cairn
Mike can have some!
Hmm, I read "oy" as like "oo-ee", but I read "oi" as like "oo-ii"
Basically, go ahead with 10600k :)
yw.
Anybody know if this mb will post with a gen 3 zen in it? If not, how easy is it update the bios if I only got a laptop available? Can I make a bios update thumbdrive for it?
Check this out on @Newegg: ASUS Prime X570-Pro Ryzen 3 AM4 with PCIe Gen4, Dual M.2, HDMI, SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 ATX Motherboard https://www.newegg.com/asus-prime-x570-pro/p/N82E16813119196?Item=N82E16813119196&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-13-119-196-_-10142020
Forgive me if this is a dumb question. Last pc I built was 5 years ago, and it was an intel
this psu good? https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3F2rxr/corsair-cx-2017-650w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-cp-9020122-na my pc is gonna run at around 300watts
Heyo, to be honest, we don't really know atm. I'd suggest you wait and see for a bit. I believe AMD released a statement saying it'll be able to boot with AGESA 1.0.8 which was quite a recent update for most motherboards, from around 2 months ago.
Yes, it'll be just fine
CX is quite a good PSU for the mid end.
Just don't buy CXm
Thanks!
And they say AGESA 1.1.0 is going to be optimal once they do start rolling that out, but 1.0.8 can boot.
I'm gonna try and grab the source to make sure I'm giving the correct info, brb.
@hardy cairn here,
Sourced from Tweaktown, which got it from AMD.
My God I'm glad folks like you are so willing to help! Thank you!
I’m asking for a friend can I build a good pc for under 500 dollars
Pre build
Here it is again,
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TrgVnL
oh
good prebuilt under 500$ is gonna be a no lmao
He’s dumb
unless you get some really good deals
@hardy cairn and by the way, the "bios flashing with a USB without a CPU feature" is known (to me at least) as Bios flashback, and it seems like the x570-pro does not have that feature sadly.
I can find motherboards with that feature if you'd like.
Oh! Cool! Thanks for the info! I'll probably just buy it at launch coupled with an approved motherboard and adjust my build accordingly then!
Actually I'll just tell you some at around that price range
Ok
X570 Aorus Elite, X570 Gaming X, X570 Tomahawk Wifi, B550 Elite, B550-a
some to start off at ~200$ or so.
And if you feel like looking around yourself, it can be quite useful to learn your way around this motherboard mastersheet :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wmsTYK9Z3-jUX5LGRoFnsZYZiW1pfiDZnKCjaXyzd1o/edit?usp=sharing
Ah ok! Thanks! I'm going for a 5950x and 3090 workststion/home pc
Temporary filter view as it explains, and choose what you want to see :)
Fair enough, sounds pretty nice :)
Hope so! Going for that white, clean aesthetic with it as well.
Thanks for all your help. I'll be reading all this right away!
Alright, have a good one!
You too!
:)

thiss good
PCPP is nicer to look at, but yea, I say that's good.
this whole bios flashing thing for 500 series motherboards is such a mess
lol
eh
not that bad tbh
with 1.0.8 being supported for booting on zen 3
(if you're talking flashing for zen 3)
@stoic island you sent me tho specks lmap just to doble check is it for gaming and streaming
lol yea my memory do be bad
lol
ive had a ton of ppl tell me to get 10600k
ive had a ton of ppl tell me to get 3700x
and ive had a ton of ppl tell me to get 5600x
i still dont know what to get
:[
3700x all the way
ive been going back and forth about this all day lol
3700x or 5600x
I still think easiest thing for you is 10600k, reason being : 3700x might become lotta buyers remorse when 5600x comes, but when 5600x comes, you're gonna have to wait for stock
all the motherboards that have been put on shelves before that bios version was made available don't really have a way of being flashed
someone said will become outdated next march
and talking to customer service isn't clearing up anything on whether they will flash old inventory
thiss good
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor

Power Supply: Corsair CX (2017) 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
and AMD is still going to offer bios update lending kits
that good
@split osprey Mr1111 already answer that, you also havent specified the price payed for all that
thats a difrnet
before recommending CPU, what's the budget?
@cursive wharf 1.2/1.3k
spec
purpose of PC
@cursive wharf gaming and school
@cursive wharf that is a dif list
the one I want doesn't have a flashback @stoic island
yea, but many do
@stoic island
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: ASRock B550M Pro4 Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory

Case: Cougar MX330-G Air ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair CX (2017) 650 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
thiss good its a dif spec
so that's the problem for half the boards gone
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I've answer already
yes its good
that i difrent specs
wdym?
@polar python you might have already had say a GPU for example, and all you were doing was upgrading CPU/mobo
upgrading from craptop
either way, 10600k/5600x I think is a bit tight for a 1.3k budget. Could spend that elsewhere first
cuz also sounds like new monitor
tbh right now, I'd get 10600k+like 2060s, and call it a day, 3080 ain't getting stock soon, 5th gen ain't coming soon.
because that's making a bad decision, but you won't have to deal with a ton of buyer's remorse at the same time
:D
I mean, buy a 3100 and wait for 5600 non X stock and then buy
AMD has got to do $200/$250 CPU given popularity of $200 CPUs
when you can get a 3070 for 500
talking to customer service they are telling me to send in an RMA to AMD and write 'BOOT kit required' in the problem description
@pallid summit yea, AMD offers boot kits for you to update bios
they send you a CPU like 3000g or other similar low end CPU for you to update bios and then send back.
interesting
am I able to ask for it in advance so I can have it arrive at the same time I'm ready to build my computer?
that was what I meant when I said this
Uh I'm not too sure
@pallid summit iirc it requires like picture proof of purchase of processor and motherboard
check though
and why are you buying a 2070s for 400
@little leaf why not?
when you can get a 3070 for 500
@little leaf what about the 3060
its supposed to be like 300-400usd right?
Is it better to pair a 3080 with an Intel or amd processor for gaming?
I see
can someone make me a build w/ r5 5600x and 3070
budget of 1.4-1.5k
uses - gaming and school
@polar python sorry 3070
And 3080 to 3070 if you'd like
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
Okie bye 👀
👀
nope
Hmm than upgrade the motherboard as well 😂
Lemme reassemble the list
What's the price of the 5600x?
thanks
@polar python you might wanna have @stoic island review it just to get a better opinion on it
Hmm ight
Once again have Mr1111 review it because I'm not the best at making lists
get a better case:P
nah, 330-g is pog for the price
theres much more better choices
Mx330g pretty good imo
work smart
not hard
whats the question?
will a 3090 fit well, or am I gonna be cramming it in?
read the specs
3090 will fit
its big for a graphics card, that doesnt mean its actually gigantic like people seem to think. it will fit in a majority of ATX cases
Thanks! just needed to make sure before ordering!
if you aint going mini itx i wouldnt bother thinkin if a 3090 would fit
also, why are you getting a 3090?
but with a $180 budget i suggest you to look at the link i posted
I'm making a workstation/home computer
what kind of programs are you trying to run?
thats because those cases have been rated by other builds for all 3 cats
airflow,looks, management
3D modeling, game design, video editing. the works.
airflow,looks, management
@covert steppe in other words best bang for your bucks
what programs specifically? is this for work you are getting paid for or as a hobby
also, thanks, I'll look into those cases
Houdini. Zbrush, Unreal 5, Substance, Adobe suite.
work
assuming this is a career you plan on sticking with, i can see how the 3090 would be a good investment
when are you planning to purchase all your components?
as soon as the 3rd party benchmarks for the zen 3s tell me if I want a 5000 series or a threadripper
dont worry about what benchmarks say, just think about when you need the system
you can wait as long as you want for more performance, but you gotta buy at some point
and you probably dont wanna wait for Zen 3 based threadrippers
also keep in mind the vastly increased cost of any HEDT platform
I'm also waiting for my house to finish being rebuilt. housefire destroyed my office and workstation. so, I'm waiting a few months anyhow.
ahh i see
probably not going with a threadripper, just because of cost
the 3090 wont have any competition for a very long time, so its a safe bet to plan on getting that card. im sure it will be more available in a few months
yeah i would avoid threadripper
i guarentee you single core perf will be worse, so its only a matter of if you need more than 16/32 for your workloads
and personally i doubt you would need more than that
a 3090, 5950x, 2x32gb DDR4, and a quality AM4 board is gonna run you ~3k USD, plus about 700 for the rest of the system
im sure prices will drop if he waits till next year
no they wont
wanna get?
that's pretty much the build I'm going with actually
bet*
me betting has nothing to do with facts
there is no facts
prices dont just "drop"
probably not
I'm probably ordering sometime in november anyway.
doesnt matter
or next?
were talkin amd
this one
oh ok
house has been being built for months. it's almost done
house has been being built for months. it's almost done
@hardy cairn whenever your ready
thats the best time to start lookin
i mean, even if you arent ready, you can always leave parts in the boxes until you are
its exactly how it works
its never worked like that
my friend as much as you deny what i said, you know im right
9980xe is still 2k, intel never changed MSRP for it, and they never will
its the truth
I've been nabbing sales on crap that isn't build specific. prime day got me a few things. hence why I was asking about the cases.
even though the 10980xe is 1k
I've been nabbing sales on crap that isn't build specific. prime day got me a few things. hence why I was asking about the cases.
@hardy cairn your case is the last thing you want to spend money on unless you have extra money
I've been saving for months. I've got a 4.5k budget. I can splurge a little.
thats enough
just need to know when your ready to pull it
thats how we get the best deals
just as soon as I'm certain the 5000 series doesn't have some horrible drawbacks, and I can buy a motherboard that'll post with it. That's when I'm buying everything.
Zen 3 is a Zen 2 refinement, there will be no drawbacks, any kinks have been smoothed out
well, that's good to hear. @viral ore. @covert steppe
Thanks for your help both of you.
sure
as for the motherboard support, you will have to wait for A520, B550, and X570 boards to be sold as "Ryzen 5000 series compatible"
@viral ore True.
by the time november 5th rolls around, you will find many boards available that are listed with this
Oh hey, I got a question for both of you! especially you @covert steppe since you are into the overall quality of a case. . .
sure
I want a good looking glass case. preferably with some good airflow. any suggestions?
lots of people here like the TD500 mesh
$200~$300 yeah, I'm looking through them now. I was just wondering your favorites
oh that's cool!
its easy for me to modify them cuz of where i work
we cut metals
plastics
and all type of crap
nice! Shop work is always fun. has a lot of perks.
well i cant just go and do w/e
its a job\
lol
so i just mostly do the hard stuff i cant do at home
also, Thanks @viral ore I like that case too!
sure!
meshify c
That's another one I was looking at!
cool, thanks for your help both of you!
is a msi gaming x GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER good with a i7
what i7 @little osprey
good can mean anything to different people
whats ur gpu budget
can def get better
i'd wait for like a 3060ti whenever that comes out
or 3060
idk
should be around that price
no
not officially
and considering current production
i would NOT try and hold my breath waiting for it either
what should i get
depends on when you are building
^^
you building "now" (next week or so)?
ima wait on the gpu see if something comes out
is everything else good
-ish
ok
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gbLWZZ <- try and have a look here
ignore your psu choice for now, i will look at that next
i was about to fix it beat me to it lmao
ok
i cheated @vital warren i did it when you started talking with him :)
lol
lol
the reason for the changes in that list vs your own @little osprey is the following
mainboard = cheaper but better. and better future support.
ok
ram = faster and cheaper
ssd = double the size because 256 is a "tad" small for OS and essentials imo. Also, faster and better and less than double the price for double the space.
gpu = placeholder
yes
that is with a different PSU
and yes, that is way more expensive
it is also actually a good psu
and as a bonus, there is a 10 year warranty on it
that is normal for good psu's
shows faith in the product from the manufacturers side :)
right this second ? yes
would it be good value for money with what we know is coming? no
ok
and that is basically the "problem" with building "right now"
all the things are coming "soon"
if you had asked us 4 weeks ago? i would have said "sure, go ahead, have fun"
glhf
aye
you are very welcome :)
the best i can offer you is to check back in after the 25th of this month
nda's lift there. and we will know what both AMD and nvidia are doing at that ponit
thats my budget build
i would personally NOT go with anything below 8 core
whelp @stoic island looks like I'm building in Dec instead and saving up till then
yeah, and 3070
and hopefully (for you) the stock situation is more reasonable at that time.
and the 5000 GPU's too
that too
intel on top
not anymore
yea lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6rm4Dc opinions? anything to change
is that from a paul's hardware build guide?
unless you plan on using more than one terabyte of disk space I would use that $50 of the HDD and get a 1TB M.2 NVME instead
is that from a paul's hardware build guide?
@pallid summit no lmao
do you specifically need more than a terabyte of disk space?
yes
well then, it looks good to me but there are more knowledgeable people here I'd wait to give their two cents before commiting
if the best possible card i can get is a 2070, is a 2060 viable if i only got enough for a $300 gpu?
max gpu length is 175mm and the best card i know of in that form factor is 2070
2060 is no slouch
if you can get the 2070 get it, but don't feel bad about "settling" for the 2060 or 2060ti/super
it looks like you have the 1660super in the list though
wrong porson >.>
and tell them to switch they 1660 super
you can get a 1660 super oc for $240 idk why this dude got a $400 one on his list
that's theft
oh lol I wasn't reading your name
i mean with how bad the non super 2000 series was i wouldn't be surprised
doesn't the 2060 super out perform the 2070?
nop it doesn't lol but it is really close
just looked at a quick benchmark comparison vid and its like
8fps off in the most extreme case
so like
user benchmark is showing 2070 is 5% better
@little osprey https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YTNJxc
premium for "super"
yup
actually all PC parts have been messed up
agreed
my biggest question is why tf ddr3 is more expensive than ddr4 in most cases
like?
?
like an R5 1600 is more expensive than the R5 3600
I've seen 32GB of ram is about 30% more expensive than 64GB and all the speeds and latencies are the same
wait, never mind.

lol
@little osprey not sure what your budget or space requirements are but if your needing more storage space, I would get a SSD (or M.2 SSD) for your boot drive, I would suggest 512 or 1TB minimum, then go with a 4TB+ for the spinning rust storeage drive, again not knowing your budget (and I honestly could not give a toss to go faffing about looking if it was ever mentioned, so if you want to let me know please do) I would grab a 12TB for $260ish (USD) off amazon, that way you have ample storeage for your needs....hope this helps some, other then that your build you posted looks good to go
uuuug I cant wait to get into my new house.....LOL get my server rack in place and mount all my hardware and get that fired up......
I'm pretty good at PC parts and all that, but I'm not great with peripherals and if I had a budget of 2,000 dollars just for them, which monitor or monitor(s) and keyboard/mouse should I get?
what frames you get
That’s a lot just for peripherals
Just got with a super ultra wide lol
4k 144hz may be something u wanna consider, or maybe oddyssey g9 👀
i'll put a bunch of links here
btw these are all my OPINIONS for the periphs- for example, it's a better idea to have digital sound and I like razer products, etc. etc.
I'm gonna upgrade my PC too, but I'm really only looking to upgrade my CPU and ram
I'm fine with my 2080
about 3-4 hundred dollars is going into a new desk
Yeah
hol on

@smoky jay
I have a razer headset so no worries there
that keyboard is hella overpriced and a bad buy in general
unless you need a fullsized and wireless you could get a way better keyboard for the price
ehhhh
that's true
but razer synapse is the best rgb software
and the basilisk ultimate is the best mouse
so naturally
you have to
I built my own new PC, but every once in a while I hear a loud and deep vibration sound/noise from the PC. It only lasts one second and then goes away. Any ideas of what this could be?
It's possible that vibration sounds can come from your hard drives, but they shouldn't really be loud.
1440p 165hz for 3080? And just a basic 1080p 60hz for 2nr monitor
@tawdry mica where does the psu go in a build like that? Is there a large side panel behind the mobo? 🤔
I built my own new PC, but every once in a while I hear a loud and deep vibration sound/noise from the PC. It only lasts one second and then goes away. Any ideas of what this could be?
@vital sail my first thought would be a fan going bad
Normal atx power supply?

i wont send you money then 😳
It’s a joke dumb ass
well no sh it

What do y'all recommend for a video card?
for what
budget?
if its 200-300 dollars i would go with a 1660s i think
let us wait for more responses
@upbeat lodge keep "jokes" like that to #general-chat
Yeah I know
@little osprey if you dont post a budget, we cannot answer
@polar python let me have a look
can someone look at my build?
what are the basic coponets of building a pc
My budget for a video card is $400
@little osprey usd?
One sec
@mighty grove if you post it, yes.
i needa moderate gaming one
if u can save 100 more geta 3070
i already have my storage
Maybe a 2060
its a budget
Rtx
please change the PSU to something else @mighty grove
Yes usd
powersupply.
Power supply
EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB KO GAMING Video Card
i need it to be les than 40
@little osprey
Thanks @upbeat lodge
Np
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Rdybvf <- there you go @mighty grove
alr that will do
@mighty grove your current PSU is NOT below 40
it was 33?
and the PSU is a VERY VERY bad place to save money
okay thank you
Strick
@foggy hazel is this good https://pcpartpicker.com/list/z2zBmk
👍
is everything else check out?
aye, not fast. but yes. its a machine that will work @mighty grove
i just want to play rocket league at comp settings lmao
this is my 540$ list submission, you can take a look.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TrgVnL
used to be 520$, but BR pricing went up
just be aware @mighty grove , it is going to look ... REAL funny with that mainboard in that case
idrc about looks im just looking for something i can play with to do tourneys
is the z490a a viable option over the msi mpg gaming edge wifi
i am looking for a moderate gaming pc
my current pc cant even run rocket league unless its 740x480
can anyone read my messages
@stark steppe have patience.
around 700-1100dollars
@upbeat lodge your list is overspecced in weird places. What is it going to be used for?
@foggy hazel it's for slapping in 3080 when stock gets fine
PSU was slightly placeholder, I think GM 750w or whatever went out of stock so I slapped in rmx
ah, so yet another: "i cannot wait, so i need validation 10 times" list?
hey, this time it's "another person validation" at least
"i3" "i5" "i7" can go into the trash
still a waste of time, especially when no context is given by @upbeat lodge
help
Wdym @foggy hazel
wait if i wanna record should i get a ryzen or intel
got itt
its your list @upbeat lodge, its your responsibility to tell people what the purpose/context of your list is.
Oh YouTube and streaming
you are missing the point.
heh I'm human too, I make mistakes
yes, i know that "now".
Wow
wait so should i go with i3-9400f or i3-9400f
which would have saved me a bunch of thinking.
Oh sorry
its like going from shop to shop and asking them if their water is also wet.
Lol
Strick
@umbral needle hello milk
@upbeat lodge consider this. Neither @stoic island or myself, or anyone else that volunteers here has unlimited time.
so the one thing that has any value is our time.
Okay
@little osprey hey stricky
Sorry
does anyone know any good rgb/fan hubs that work for Aura Sync? The only one I know works is the ROG Terminal but its apparently non-existent anymore
look at what you typed
Næd especially grumpy today 👀
uh im confused
i3-9400f or i3-9400f <- see those?
Reason: Bad word usage
there is NO i3-9400F
smh
...
Intel® product specifications, features and compatibility quick reference guide and code name decoder. Compare products including processors, desktop boards, server products and networking products.
that is the differences between them
the 9400f will be 10-50% faster.
so i should get a 9400f if
Taking a look at this, does the desktop 9400f also 2.9ghz base clock..?
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/Intel-i3-9100F-vs-Intel-i5-9400F/3461vs3397
oh wait yea
hm
@foggy hazel do you by any chance know if passmark does benches at base clock or boost clock?
was someone trynna skimp on the psu?
should be boost. it should not have any say in what the CPU does in that regard @stoic island
but not something i have ever thought about :)
Yea I was just looking at single core perf
and 9400f had a slightly lower score
so first thing I thought was "hmm 9400f only 2.9ghz base clock, maybe that's the reason"
when do programs only use one core tho
java
just about everything has a "main thread" @gritty zenith
And also, the score itself tells us a lot more about the chip too.
i know, but i would think that no matter the single core score, multithreaded applications of any degree would strain it more than just a single core score x2 or x4 or etc
if you know what i mean
elaborate (because i dont know your "style" of thinking well enough to know if you have a serious misunderstanding or not)
oi im not that dumb
i mean like if a cpu gets a certain single core score, i'd think that that specific score only pertains to tasks which utilize only core, but for tasks which utilize more than one i'd think that the performance per core would be different
okay, you are potentially moving into thermally throttled scenarios with that
That only really applies to laptops where a single core could boost significantly higher than the other cores due to limitations.
no @stoic island
so regardless of whether an application uses only one core or multiple they will generally run at their rated single core speed throughout the different cores? (yes i do know that some cores might run faster than others)
it applies to every CPU
I mean in normal circumstances
and yes @gritty zenith
You're not going to have a core on 3700x boost to 5ghz, then all core 4ghz is the kind of thing I'm saying
oh okay
that is correct @stoic island
I'm not saying single core can't boost a bit higher, but it's usually not much higher unless very thermally constraint
correct
I gotta learn how to speak :p
About to leave to pick up my desktop
will the coolermaster nr600 fit a 360mm aio
are u srs
i was planning to oc 10600k to like 5.0 ghz
wow
wha
no rgb unless chroma
corsair cases can be fine
like 4000d airflow is great
275r airflow is good
220t airflow is good
bruh wdym @polar python rgb gives you lower ping, more fps, higher clock speeds, less temps, and noob players in game, im shaking my head
huge fax
you need to have your room covered in chroma products
voice controlled rgb too
TBH for most people RGB would actually give you lower fps
best performance
RGB software are trash
lmaoo
nah for best performance jus have a chip inplanted in your head that controls the rgb
and bloatware are trash too, GN did a bloatware test before, way lower 1% lows and 0.1% lows, and frametime spikes not present within the original system
lol
@gritty zenith I'm not talking about ping spikes
I'm talking frametime spikes
when it takes 100ms to send 1 frame
now that's a noticeable spike
@fleet pagoda better for doing what
Gaming
3600 easy
Ok now whats the dif between 3600x and 3600
3600x is just fancy with like a 200mhz higher core clock
Ok thx
what the hell
Shuttle <- Brand name
that looks like someone took a hammer to the socket
its normal for them
and then took a hammer to the chipset(?) heatsink
notice the format
itx..?
custom
whoa
looked it up
Shuttle, a leading PC manufacturer specializing in high-performance desktop PCs in compact designs offers a full range of products, from XPC, AIO to Slim PC.
lol
Was that NAS THAT old? Newegg product page said 2007 so I was like it's a decade old, shouldn't be too bad.
lga1151
as you can see from some of the pictures, their boards are STILL very weird
they're still going eh
aye aye
I mean it makes sense if they're doing custom for their own home entertainment systems
do note, they did SFF systems back when everyone else ran around with Chenbro fridge sized cases
fun
by the way, quick question on audio, with a headset like the PC37x, if I wanted to plug the headphone 3.5mm plug into a dual-use (input and output like on phones) 3.5mm port, and not plug in the mic, would it work?
@foggy hazel with that part, I'm curious about how power is delievered with headsets and headphones
because I thought it would be through the 3.5mm plug, so maybe only 1/2 plug would not power it enough?
it could be designed like that, but that would just make it "messy" internally
so, likely not true?
so power comes over the headphones alone for the headphones
it might pull some power for the mic on the other, but doubt it
i cannot at the top of my head remember what the spec can do in that regard
fair nuff
Hey guys
Is this ram good for a desktop? I know its not the best speed but im trying to make an old office PC last a few more years
well, shoot
I cannot send the link
2x 8GB 4GB Lot Memory Ram 4 Dell PowerEdge T310 upgrade Server DDR3 SDRAM its from ebay
So desktop will be ready tomorrow, but from what I saw today, it looks CLEAN AF
@little osprey what country would you be getting it shipped to
dont know what the shipping cost would be then, like for me it is 11.72 + 20.85 usd
so like $30+ total usd
and are you upgrading a server?
or desktop
i have 2 dollars shipping
it used to be a server PC
im going to convert it to a work desktop
im going to wipe it, install windows 10 as its on windows 7
If it's a desktop, I recommend ddr4 ram
and use it for web browsing and basic tasks
its a ddr3 motherboard
and im only changing the ram and adding a gpu
8gb 1333mhz not good
im patient with speeds
Ahh
i used to work off a 5400 RPM hard drive with and i3 2nd gen
This will be a computer whose specs pre-date my birth 😂😂
😂
if you want
lol
hold up lemme dm
@stoic island I found out what the issue with my mobo was
I accidentally manually set one of my ram timings instead of it being set to auto.
Really?
Didn't you reset cmos already?
We prob should've told you to reset cmos more >:P
just run without cmos battery ez fix
@gritty zenith you know how reset cmos works right :p
lol yeah
i mean i know the procedure but i don't know the science behind it if that's what you mean
It works because you drain all the power from the system
So the memory resets itself
Mhm
surprising to think that small battery gives just enough power to keep memory in tact
Not ram memory mind you
I mean like the little flash memory chip on the board
That stores the settings
ik
I don't think it's that hard to power that lil chip
i mean yeah
i remember looking at something though for replacing save battery on like a gameboy cartridge, modding it with a non-volatile fram chip thought it was pretty cool, but $20 was really expensive back when i was like 13 lol
I don’t know if I should get a asrock b450 steel legend or a b450 pro 4
@stoic island I did try clearing cmos
return parts rebuy them and rebuild
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3Th6Mv
This good? The only notes I have is the CPU will be a R5 5600X and the GPU will be a 3070
ofc not, I just havent done research on where to get it for cheaper
AIO I want, im buying on blackfriday /cyber monday
Hey guys I got a quick question.
My fren has a prebuilt and wants to upgrade his RAM but doesn't know if the motherboard can handle it
Its a Digital storm* prebuilt I have no idea about their motherboards
Unless you send us the exaact PC we won't know
he has no idea, is there like a way to download something that will tell him what motherboard he is running?
@polar python I made you a list
your list is significantly worse
@stoic island could you tell him for gaming having a 3080 +3600/3700x is better than a 10600k and 3070
pls enlighten me
for gaming the gpu matters much more than the cpu
Many people spend too much on the cpu and not enough on the gpu
does the 3700x have good oc potential
alright
i was gonna get the 3700x b4
i feel like with anything i buy im gonna have buyers remorse
would this PSU work with a 3070? I’m only running a 6 core cpu
probably not what brand is that?
i have no idea my pc is a prebuilt
@little osprey no then
sticker says SolyTech
can u send me the list u made earlier
its a bad quality psu trying to put out its max wattage
alright
what wifi adapters and sound cards do yall recommend?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dBd6Xb Is this good? I've never made a pc before
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hbHNNP @bronze hare
get better monitor and keeb
Ifu can
@bronze hare uh I don't like that list
@cloud oasis and why...
Cheap out on everything then grab a gpw...?
@eager flower I would skip buying a windows 10 key. I recommend buying a windows 7 key for cheap and using that as your windows 10 key. for some reason they are still allowing free upgrades.
you'd save yourself about $90
You can get a win10 key on ebay for 5-10 bucks, just buy from a seller with high positive reviews
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/R2mxFT/corsair-power-supply-cp9020103na
would this psu work with a 3070
The win 7 to 10 upgrade doesnt always work these days
well guys i’m back with more problems
@little osprey depends on your other specs
my monitor keeps blinking on and off when I play games and watch videos
there’s an example
I think it has something to do with my gpu
alright
@glossy musk it might be ur monitor panel overheating
@small osprey overheating was my initial though but it does after only like 5 minutes of use
Try with a different monitor and see if the same problem occurs
Mm probably why then
I have an old 19 inch tv that I don’t have problems with
i’m guessing it’s because I’m running a hdmi to vga cable because my monitor only supports vga
uhh if you know any good ones for like $150
I don’t need anything too crazy
Specific res or refresh?
at least 1080p and 75hz or more preferably
how big is the screen?
that’s about what I would want
Idk the exact model
Lemme search it up
Sry not that lol
The lg 24MK400H-B
Search that up
thanks i’ll check it out
Np
Horrible :p
