Depends on what features you want out of your board but yea msi or Asus are usually safe bets
Just make sure it’s zen 2 3000 series compatible out of the box or else you sometimes need a different chip to flash bios if I’m not mistaken

Despite the bottom FPS being in sync with the monitor hertz (same frequency of ticks showing up), there is higher latency than higher fps
this is simplifying a lot ofc, and may work differently in practice

You'll have a cable that goes from the front of your case to a spot on your motherboard, the motherboard manual will tell you where
If you're careful you'll end up with a "trunk" of cables going down the middle of the back side of the motherboard tray
I usually run my case's front panel cables with that trunk of cables to keep things clean

Now that more user reviews have come out for the 3080, going from a 2080ti to a 3080 still a nice upgrade? I feel like my 2080ti is somewhat struggling in some games with 1440p for some reason. Not sure why

one thing i would like to add that i didn't know until i used the case for like 2 months
you can hook up the ARGB controller to the front panel's reset switch
and control the fans using the reset button

yeah nobody uses the reset button so it's a cool feature
what you have to do is route the ARGB controller close to the bottom routing holes
then plug in the reset switch jumper into the controller instead of the motherboard front panel headers
so that you can still plug in the rest of the front panel jumpers normally

Anyone ever heard of an Elgato HD60 not allowing a PC to boot into OS?
Yesterday i was having problems with it not displaying anything, then today i turn the PC on, it posted but wouldnt boot into OS so i reset it, still didnt boot into OS, so i powered it off, unplugged the Elgato HD60 and then booted back up, got into BIOS, motherboard readout was showing AA (Everything is fine, no issue) everything in BIOS was fine, windows needed to restart/"Repair" but thats likely because of the hard resets i did.
Any thoughts?

Yeah, still got a year on it, but dont really wanna send it in if there is nothing wrong with it. Havent tested if it was because of it being in the PCIE lane or not.
honestly ever since the last windows 10 update my PC has been acting strange. boots up fine but none of my settings for audio/sleep will be saved, that sort of thing.
Havent done a bios update in a year though. wondering if thats why.

No mechanical storage in my PC so it goes by fast. and Nah. if its gotta be done its gotta be done. i was going to do it yesterday but something came up and i was questioning if it could have been the HD60 pro that was bricking something via the PCIE lane. cause i disabled it yesterday then today i turn it on and windows wouldn't start so yeah the problem likely is windows.

@foggy hazel so, before i got down to the nitty gritty with the windows reinstall ditty. out of curiosity popped the elgato back in the PCIE slot, powered her back up. and... yup. didn't boot into windows again.

It posts, the BIOS options come up but as soon as windows tries to start it freezes then display says no signal.

@foggy hazel Got windows reinstalled, no problems, Elgato HD60 Pro is working okay (We will see how long that lasts.. again...) and my power/sound settings aren't even resetting when i reboot my PC.. now i just got about 15+ hours of game downloads because epic games doesn't have a detection feature like steam

@subtle fossil in epic games it should be possible to "start" the download, then exit the program, copy in the files and restart epic games

@robust plover rgb is fine if you want the aesthetic, just be prepared to pay more for quality fans. i'd look at either upHere or Cougar, they make fan packs that come with a control box that you can usually control either with a remote or connect to your motherboard header and control via software

I'm also thinking right now of going ahead and picking up the 2 TB hard drive I intend to install in my future build + an external enclosure so I can start the tedious process of backing up all the files from my laptop. (Not copying the OS install, purely copying my Steam library and various other personal files that have grown to more than my poor old backup drive can hold.) I will have an SSD for the OS drive later, I just want to get started on all my personal data while I wait for the new parts to release and prices to stabilize.

it's not worse, it's just more $$$, and if you go with something like the 3100, you can shift that money towards the GPU instead
both the 3100 and 3600x will perform fine with a solid GPU, but if you go 3100 you can afford a better GPU

@robust plover yeah, that's fine. personally i would balance the intake and exhaust, because if you have more exhaust fans, it will be pulling more air out of th e case than the intake fans can bring in
which means you'll get air being pulled in through any open pci slots or gaps
and can bring more dust in
so if you just do the 2 front fans for intake, and one rear fan plus one top fan for exhaust, it will balance out the airflow
but if you like the aesthetics of the 2 top fans better, go with that
it won't hurt performance/temps, it just might mean you need to dust out the case a little bit sooner

if the 12nm 1600 AF is in stock, I'd go with that, it's basically a 2600 with slightly lower clocks, but also saves a few euros and can be lightly overclocked to get that speed back
for all intents and purposes it's the same performance but cheaper
it's a very minor thing to change, but saving a few makes everyone happy
