nono, meaning 500$ overall
ight, would you like for me to try and put a build together for you? (parts you gotta buy yourself )
i assume youre gaming, yes?
No thanks, I generally have an idea of the parts on going to get
ight, cool! good luck my dude!
Thanks
Not sure if this is the right chat for this, but can someone recommend some good full tower cases for me? I was looking at the Corsair Obsidian 750D Full Tower ATX case, but it seems to be completely out of stock everywhere
Ok, so I basically have completely picked out the parts for the pc I'll build for my $1000 actual pc budget. Onto the second part of the budget which is $500-$650 for monitor, desk, keyboard, mouse, mousepad, gaming chair, and other little doodads. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zY7RZf
lol

Hey so I’m trying to help a friend out into getting into the pc world. His parents don’t trust that he can build one right so they want to get him a prebuilt from Best Buy. He has a price point of around $900 and I was just going to ask for any recommendations
nah, youre fine
I have an idea on a couple things. I think I have room for a desk around 52 inches.
Reason: Bad word usage
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JFSVKXL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_DgDtFb4MWVJV3 the chair I have in mind
You got caught lacking by not putting the ‘ in you’re
why best buy specifically?
i assume so they can look at it
I don’t know and neither does he
@plush wigeon why a mini itx?
Best buy 😢
lemme look around some
thats a reasonably priced one
I know, it sucks he can’t enjoy building his own
:PP
that cooler tho
true
@rose sentinel what do you mean mini itx?
cheaper and relatively good specs
but youre limited on upgradeability down the line
as I said the budget for the pc is $1000
i guess yeh
Did you check the specs on the one I chose?
pretty solid choice, but i still stand by what i said.
like, later down the line its gonna cost more to upgrade
say you wanna do a dual gpu setup
or run a DRP4
I'm mostly gonna be gaming
not streaming
honestly ITX isnt too bad
What's ITX
form factor
its a mobo size
very small
O ok
but upgradability is kinda ehh
not many people will have any use for a dual gpu setup
i wanna build a watercooled micro itx
or use a drp4
yes but would you upgrade to it
well, it depends
oh for sure, see i like flexibility when i build and how i might wanna use it later
i dunno
Good thing I chose micro atx instead of mini itx then
y
y not.
Put all my parts back in my old case
Giving up on the new mobo/cpu
Now I just gotta figure out which one is broken
Guys, Should i Go for a AIO liquid cooler or a noctua air cooler
[3:05 PM]
for my ryzen 7 3700x
[3:05 PM]
and rtx 2080 super
[3:06 PM]
Please let me know
[3:06 PM]
By tagging me when replying
@craggy zodiac don't get an RTX 2080 super if its only for gaming
and The processor and the graphic card doesn't match
If you are using a High end Graphics Card use a High end processor as well like a RYZEN 9 3900X
else you can't get the full performance from the RTX 2080 because your processor is not a High end one
Can someone help me with building a spec list
Yes
What do you want to do with it, what is your budget, do you need wifi, do you prefer Intel or AMD, and wait for the Nvidia Announcement in 5 hours
xd
Hey so should I go gt 1030 or 1050ti lp. It’s for a low budget fortnite build looking for 1080 competitive settings
Yea they are pretty high what’s the 1650 going for now?
Also I need a lp that’s why I’m saying 1030 or 1050 ik they make a 1650 but do the do 1650s lp?
if you can get a 1050Ti for a good price
It literally just needs to run fortnite and chrome it’s for my bro it’s his first pc it’s got an 153570 in a sff optiplex lol
Ok so like 125 or 100?
sure
Ok lol I really am not too good with budget build pricing im@good with budgeting high end builds but not low end one lol thanks for ur help
1650 should be better tho
yeh
Yea def I’ll see the price after today’s drop
Well I see a 1650 lp for 150 shipped so imma just take that lmao
How much GB would my GPU need?
@hoary flower the vertical monitor is just a monitor with a "pivot" stand (a fair number of monitors can actually do this already)
or are you asking about the stacked setup?
https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820236596?item=N82E16820236596
Is this good for $109+tax
Can someone let me know if this is a good build for the price or if there's some sort of improvement I could make to better it but keep the same price ty
you got a ryzen with integrated graphics but you bougth a dedicated graphics card
your better off getting a better ryzen, without the integrated graphics for the same price
id recomended the ryzen 3100, its around the same price and is zen 2 with better architecture and cache @vague willow
@shy cradle the gb size of ur card won’t matter tooo much as long as it isn’t like a 2gb card or something like that if it is 4 6 or 8 u should be fine
k thanks
@true olive alright ty I appreciate it
Yessir
np
Reafer ryzen really likes 2 sticks of ram it’ll perform much better with 2 4gb sticks rather than 1 8gb @vague willow
i just noticed that as well yeah
your better off investing more in your ram for ryzen
Yea that’ll improve performance a ton and always at least 3000 although 3200 or 3600 is sweet spot but I use 3000 with a 2700 and it runs great
Yea those gskill kits are amazing
Definitely
Also you need a hard drive in that build you can’t just have a 240gb ssd @vague willow that’s a good boot drive but not enough storage for games and apps
Yeah I have a hard drive already so that's why I'm just getting a boot drive for it
Ty though
Bet that’ll be a nice build I had something similar in the beginning
Kept everything just upgraded to a 2700 and a 1070
Since I'm returning my motherboard and the ram I bought isn't on the manufacturer recommended list, should I just return that too and get one that is?
I still have no idea why it won't post
Might as well return the cpu too and try it all again
hello friends! i have an issue—i just built a new pc and it runs beautifully, however, it wont run if the gpu is placed in it.
im not sure this is exactly the place to ask, but is there anyone who can help me?;;
Did you plug your monitor into the GPU or the motherboard?
@hoary flower my monitor https://www.microcenter.com/product/618418/dell-p2419h-238-full-hd-60hz-vga-hdmi-dp-ips-led-monitor
i tried plugging it into both @potent prairie
i also tried to reseat my ram twice? and i tried to use the other gpu slots on the mobo but
nothing seemed to work
Did you plug in the power cables to the GPU?
You said works on integrated graphics (without the GPU installed), correct?
Is so and you've made sure to plug in the power and also try different PCIE slots, I'd say in all probability your GPU is bad.
yeah i made sure it was all plugged in
man that sucks
okay, well, thank u for the help 🛐
What is a good 4K monitor
@earnest flax what GPU and what CPU?
gpu is a gtx 1660 and the cpu is a 6600k @flat fern
Bought it new? @earnest flax
👍
if neither of the gpus work, what do you recommend i do next?
Maybe see if the motherboard is working correct
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PjLFcq thoughts?
Nice
I need a 144hz monitor that's affordable and doesn't constantly go out of stock
Are you buying now?
CPUs? New wise, decent retailers always have them at around the same spot, Microcenter usually has good deals for combos.
Ofc used CPUs on eBay will be cheaper, but that's different markets
micro center
Used market is always taking your own risk depending on the situation
micro center pretty good deals
And how’s would the i7-5820k pared with the 1050 to
Okay, are you trying to get a new PC?
I have a gpu, hdd, mobos
Oof
Yea
Hmm
At micro center now
You're gonna have better luck on older chips that would be supported by your board on eBay @stoic wyvern
Half a decade old chips don't go for good prices new
The i7-5820k is supported by x99a sli plus
I'll have to check what chips it supports
What’s this 360hz monitor that Nvidia showed in the live stream?
I believe the Asus one
Let's see, 5820k is ~100$
@stoic wyvern example listing:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/373183506348
anways lemme put smth together
@stoic wyvern so no CPU, cooler, case, psu?
Example list:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bhHqDx
anyone want to put together a $1800 pc build for me.. and yes including the 3080 in that budget
I have a ryzen 5 3600 and a rog strictly b450 f gaming in my new build but when I turn it on it flashes red for cpu and then to yellow which I’m running some 3600mhz ram on, any help?
I'm waiting for my parts to come in. Will the basic dimensions of any power supply fit into a mini desktop style case?
depends on the case, it will say if it fits ATX standard or SFX form factor
I have a ryzen 5 3600 and a rog strictly b450 f gaming in my new build but when I turn it on it flashes red for cpu and then to yellow which I’m running some 3600mhz ram on, any help?
@broken spire what flashes red
If its the rgb thats fine
No it’s the light on the motherboard saying that there’s a problem
What light
you still got your manual?
might be on there
if not mobo webstire probably has pdf for manual
There are leds on the mother board that flash when a problem occurs, it says in the manual red is for cpu then yellow is for ram
I have it
its hard to say whats the problem based on that
Clear cmos
Okay
Alright
okey dokey
Finished building the first PC for the kids at work
Idk why Build pics has a 30s delay but
Yes
how u like the thicc ncase m1
dunno why, might've been look at u14s too often, but I keep thinking u12s has like a round fan
I want a TU150 :(
Holy crap it worked, thanks @mossy citrus
i want a formd t1 but thats never gonna happen
That was a legit shot in the dark
R9 3900x
Noctua u12s
32GB Corsair LPX 3200mhz
B550i Aorus Pro ax
1TB NVME SSD
1060 place holder for 2080 ti/3070
Lian li TU150 or whatever it's called
ITX is a disaster to build in
I no like
get a 3070. don't waste anything on a 2080 Ti
clearing cmos solves like 99% of the problems its like the greatest thing ever @mossy citrus
Lol
I might clear my CMOS
I cut my hands 3 times trynna plug in the cables with the heat spreader
The cooler
🥰
my PC keeps waking and I have no updates. sometimes it doesn't fall asleep and even more rarely doesn't shutdown. CPU having random temp spikes
would clearing CMOS help with that?
idk try it its pretty fast and easy @analog hearth
This is the Case comparison old in the left side
the TU150 is freaking adorable bruh
@deep skiff I need to lmao
would a periodic clear CMOS be a healthy habit to have?
like, clear it every three months or something?
It looks like a little box space ship with the wifi antenna
no it should be fine
I don't really ever have any important settings to keep saved anyways
The TU150 is horrible to build in cuz so smalllllll but so cute
clear it whenever something doesnt work :v
Ive Always built in full atx
Idk how it compares to other ITX cases because I've only built ATX in mid towers before
But the cut out positioning didn't convince me too too much
Didn't take pics in detail but I'll show tomorrow with my little cable management on the back too
@analog hearth
ah I see
I've never build in an ITX case
I've always wanted that case as soon as I first saw it though lol
Fair
It's pretty. But the amount of times my knuckles bruised against the cooler. XD
yikes lol
But but, boss said I can take whatever I need from old PC
wait, so what's the PC for?
Now the boot led is staying on and nothing else
I’ve looked up trouble shooting steps but nothing seems to be working
are you the one who cleared CMOS?
make sure the CMOS jumper is taken off of the motherboard
@analog hearth it's a program we have to introduce youth to technology and potentially jobs. In this instance this computer will be used for Teaching kids what Overclock is, CAD, and potentially video editing
Then we'll have others built for gaming, streaming, content creation
I want that job lol. that actually sounds fun
It's called Youmedia, it's situated in all the public libraries
I want that job :P
what kind of position would that be called? I'm only seeing that in Chicago and I live all the way in Texas :/
It is lots of fun and it pays good considering I'm not even 18 yet. $17/hr seems good enough
bruhhh I want that
being paid to teach young kids how and why to use a computer and being paid $17/hour seems like the perfect job lol
What do you mean by position? Like my position right now or the entire area? Because if so we have mentors that specify in each area. And we also just bought like 30 Macs for those areas like audio recording and HW
Macs are for Audio, Picture editing and Hw. Then PCs for gaming, streaming and vr
PCs are for everything
I agree, it is a pretty good job. And what's even better is that I was there since day 1. So I helped design it and built it
idk lol I just want a job like that
PCs for everything :D
@little osprey yes but Mac software is especially good for said things
dual boot mac if you need that mac editing software
Yeye I get you
Mac is overpriced
I'm talking macos for now
You can dual boot macos if you research into it and you got the right parts
We only have Macs because kids are used to them and they are easier to buy at a big scale
@stoic island like a Macintosh?
Hackintosh is the word
dem kids
I think
yea
Yep, and plus the apple environment is pretty sweet once u get into it
They r more like general purpose. I guess? The PCs I will be building will be few but of a much higher caliber
Eh, it's like decent for everything with a few upsides, but you can just do much more on Linux/Win10
Agreed
everything has downsides
Linux is as close as you can get to a great OS because of different distros
True
Linux is like a sandbox
Still, most kids won't know linux like they know Chrome os and macos
It's quite sad for me, do you live in CA or something?
Everyone I know grew up with win10, a few macos
CT
Yeh
Midwest is an interesting place
We sort of have w10 but it's few like most pple have macs
build for $1700 any recommendations on parts ?
I'll make a list for ya
Assuming grabbing 3080 on release for FE pricing
Just gaming or anything else?
most likely and thanks im looing at different parts but havent quite picked anything yet or know what to pair 3080 with
I'm gonna go overkill on cpu+cooler just for fun for the list for now btw
surprise me ! 😛
i cant wait to grab a 3090FE. the open heatsink will allow my case fans to help out a bit more with the temps
@molten cedar :D
cant wait to pair my fx 6300 with a 3080
LMAO 😂
Why not athlon 64 and 3090? 😄
The embodiment of the word bottleneck
cant wait to pair my core2duo with a 3090
Can't wait to play 8k 60fps
isa joke
Dp 2.1 (or 2.2 idk the name)
has anyone seen anywhere offering cable extensions of the 2x8 to 12 pcie power?
ive never seen that artic liquid cooler before @stoic island
It's got amazing performance
Here's the GN review
https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3571-arctic-liquid-freezer-ii-cooler-review-benchmark
Yes ?
fan go brrr
It's like the best AIO out there that doesn't go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I thought I was gonna fck it up but had to tighten them screws
???
@stoic island what about the Cooler Master 360 at max rpm 🤭
😂😂😂
Im curious. The 3070 has the same performance as the 2080ti and better rtx software, right? So what would be the benefits of still going for 2080 ti?
it's 400$ used rn so yea
Fair enough
bad ssd
smol ssd
overpriced ram
and what's wrong with my parametric selection on PSU :(
i want something more powerful than 650 XD
and for ram sticks i of course want rgb everyone knows that equals better gaming
wut
what's wrong with 650w :(
New GPUs are proven to not pull like 500w through the 12pin
i currently have 650W and if im gonna upgrade everything might as well do 850 for future?
nah
no real need imo
TDPs don't exactly just go straight up
You'll do fine with 550w right now
650w still gives a bit of headroom
and do remember good PSUs (I won't recommend bad PSUs to you :P) can handle 10% overload without a problem
So I just bought the nzxt h510 elite case and I set up everything and when I plug in the psu cable the power button starts flashing and the cpu starts flashing
the cpu starts flashing
why everyone saying new gpu needs 700+ minimum o.O confusion i tell you
People got really scared by the 12pin thing lol
but it turned out to be basically just 2x8 pin like before
You can go 750w if you want
but 850w would be overkill for overkill
I just like my selection of models :P
am back
Don't need 212
Grab a B550 pro-vdh wifi for the same price
get like any other case
and the rest looks fine
You talking to me?
Yes
@molten cedar just change it back to a MP34 :P
WD blue just really REALLY isn't worth it
Is it fine if I put fronts in front of the rad when the rad is placed in the front instead of the top.
212 keeps the think good and its also quiet
M.2 sata at those prices :P
@odd crypt then grab a gammaxx 400
cheaper
better
it's like 25$
well i dont need that much storage so should i just do the mp34 512 with 2tb hard drive ?
Sure
so should i just stick with my 650W gold powersupply for my new build or get a new power supply @stoic island and thanks for help. really appreciate it
What model
I could potentially sell it on ebay for $50
its a Evga GQ 80+Gold
Well, it'll work
Is it fine putting fans in front of the radiator when the radiator is placed in the front while not on the top?
Quick question. If the desktop I'm setting up turns on (without pressing the case power button) as soon as the PSU is switched on, is it the mobo or the PSU that's messed up? Anyone ever have this problem?
anyone know a good site to finance a pc?
@hot frost probably the mobo or ur case it might be auto jumping the power connection try disconnecting front panel connections and see what happens
@small heron wdym
My case didnt come wth any
OH
But my mb came with 1
Jeez
Sooo
Middle?
Ok
And that’s prolly an m.2 screw
No io sheid either
it works perfect
Did u get it used
That’s stupid
Yea
From where and what brand
Newegg / aorus
Where does this go on my rgb controller thingy?
Where does this go on my rgb controller thingy?
@broken spire Sata power on psu
That thing plugs into sata?
Lol Ching that’s a built in io
That thing plugs into sata?
@broken spire yep on the power supply then the other end should be in the controller already
Should be fine
@calm crypt It turns itself on whether the "Power SW" power button cable is connected or not
Should i eo one closest to io or the one next to ram
Yea imma say mobo do u have another setup u can plug the PSU in to
@calm crypt so even with front panel completely disconnected, it still turns itself on. Just got this setup in the mail today mind you
Ching yea ram prolly
Ok
Can u link me one
@hot frost Yea imma say mobo do u have another setup u can plug the PSU in to
Can u link me one
@small heron I’ll send it to dms
K
I may, yeah. Was gonna first test this setup with a different power supply
But what you said is also a good idea. Prob try both an report back
@calm crypt will do, appreciate the help
No prob brotha just trouble shooting 😉 love helping out when I got nothing to work on
where's the GPU?
ah okay, thought so
But is pcie 3.0 good for the 3090?
Well
we don't know, I'd get PCIe 4.0 just in case if you want full use of the GPU
likely fine but who knows
Damn
But Intel still has gaming advantage of single core perf
basically, wait for benchmarks
No need for 1000w PSU unless you XOC vBIOS
because I bet 500 brownie points people will do PCIe 3.0 vs PCIe 4.0 on the next gen cards
and liquid cool GPU
@cursive wharf Is it even going to be possible on FE if it had 12pin? pulling that much might actually start melting it lel
if nvidia benchmarked for their presentation today with an i9, they were using the 3080 etc on pci-e 3.0
so it's fine
@stoic island idk much about 12p, so idk
I'm going by 6 pin standards so idk
can't you pull around 300w from 6 pin before damage?
In my part picker list , is my psu compatible with the 3090
prob, but way overkill
10900k also makes little sense. Are you gaming, if so then 10700k. If you're content creation then 3950x or 4950x when it comes out
wouldnt it be better to go by 8 pin standards or no
It is at least dual 8p
depends on what they wanted to achieve @deep skiff
they ended up with a connector that is way smaller
It really is true
which makes sense on the FE cards
it's cleaner
because 2*8 on the FE cards would be a LOT of boardspace
Gauge seems worse but more 12v cables, so going to be fun getting ATX spec of it without calculating yourself
can some one look over this build list for me i think its good just want a second opinion https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Avocado_Frag/saved/#view=kZV4sY
ofc, but we don't have that info yet so only speculations for fun :D
@wintry kettle first, you got time to wait for 3070 in a month?
^was about to say
Because that's a lot more performance at the same price
i see
@wintry kettle mobo is a waste of money, NVMe is meh and bad given the budget, Ampere, PSU wattage is overkill and objectively not a great 750w unit
what would youi recomend instead
Wait for a 3070 , 100%
AsRock b550 Phantom Gaming 4 when it goes back in stock for $115, MP34/Mushkin Pilot, Enermax DF 650w
P1 is a great SSD... For lower budgets
HCG was at a really nice price for 650w when I looked
like 110$
I have two XPG SX8200s hehe
just got the second today B)
If so then wait for 4600x Zen3 before doing 3080. R5 3600 might not be ideal for 3080
We'll see
Lowering the rest of stuff should make enough budget for 3080 if 4600 is same price as Zen2
Pretty big IF tho
can you imagine the noise the internet will make IF zen3 outperforms intel and (logically) is priced above intel too?
id guess $250 tops
@foggy hazel can you imagine IF IF outperforms Intel in latency?
death of monolithic dies
that is true
power density will take care of that
but right now they still hold the top spot in latency
aye aye
power is too condensed is basically the problem
I see
and as things shrink, we still need to connect to those parts
If a power supply says that it will fit an ATX, will it fit in a case for mini ATX
it is not as if the mainboard vendors are exactly enjoying dealing with high pincount sockets
@jolly adder you mean an atx psu?
Yessir
depends on the case
Does it matter if my fans are on the front or behind the rad?
check the case specs to see if it fits an atx psu, but it normal should unless its an itx case
a given case will have a spec for exactly what psu formfactor it supports
does that make sense @stoic island ?
Just one of these little bad boys lmao
Yes
that is regular atx for the psu @jolly adder
So it's just they can't squeeze much more in there with that architecture
basically yes
and as things get small enough, getting heat away from it becomes a big problem
its all well and fine that you have a die that is 10*10mm
but that is bugger all actual contact surface etc etc
kinda like different processes? where you get to a point where you cant improve the chip on the current nm
We'll keep Naed here all night until all the details are revealed :D
kinda ish is good enough for me haha
a potential "obvious" suggestion you might make is this: why not just make the socket way way bigger
latency
latency is the enemy for that one
of course
big cpu
Actually, how does monolithic die get such low latency across the board?
for some reason
and then you are basically full circle to what started this line of questions
hehe sorry
:D
re: across the board: finely tuned paths is the simple answer
Do i have everything plugged in
where be gpu
Onboard😎
@warped prism @stoic island
Shipping is dangerous
Came bent rly bad but my psu fixed it good enough
hey what motherboard is that
b450 Aorus Elite, if talking about Ching's build
Ching only thing you dont have plugged in is your 3080 lmao
Shoulda gone radeon lol
oh ok
hello best motherboard for ryzen 7 3700x?
MSI Tomahawk b450 max in my opinion
That’s my favorite board so far it’s budgeted overclocks really well and has lots of bells and whistles
what would you say is best with 300$ budget
preferably with type c port
i'm new to the entire pc building, planning out my first one
Yea the tomahawk has type c port on the back, you don’t need a 300 budget for a mobo at alllllllllll especially for a 3700x there’s no need for x570 unless u have a ryzen 9 so find a nice b450 max or b550 board you like and it’ll be perfect
Yea lol that’s true
I’m not too up to date with the 550 yet I’m not sure what the budget one in there is
It used to be decent when b550 didn't exist, but now there's cheaper b550 boards than the tomahawk max that offers more features.
B550 phantom gaming 4 at 115$
Yes than that’s totally fair
Lol
Revision get a b550
Wait what’s the tomahawk priced at now
Wow yes that’s a great deal for that b550 then bc that’s an awesome board
so with no budget in mind what would best compliment a 3700x?
Look, with no budget in mind, something overkill like a x570 aqua that's like 1000$ would "best" compliment it :P
There's always some budget around it
tremble in fear at the one true god
lol
hm
oh god I'm getting more and more confused the more I look
still waiting
Bro why does it look like a two hand keyboard
it's so confusing
so you split a 60% in half
added numpad and tkl things in the middle in the wrong way around
It’s like you need right ctrl? HA drop the mouse
no clue
Yo so like how do y’all get the techi rank
by being techies
@deep skiff yea how do you get techi
we give tecc tip
tanks
much useful
wait i thought this was general
Nope
it is now
generally speaking
this is not general
but the general topic of conversation
is more fitted to general
generally
@stoic island so which board would u get for 3700x for 300 budget?
bruh
bro
300$ motherboard?
that budget allocation is really wacky
get a b550 phantom gaming 4 and spend the rest on GPU
well just dont want to spend over 300 on board, i just wanted to know what would be the best option under that amount
The thing with motherboard is, the benefits don't really scale well as you go up in price
a good enough 115$ board does all the major things a 150$ board can, except without some fancy gimmicks
which motherboard fit RTX 3070?
As far as we know, any @floral flare
They say PCIe 4.0, but testing was done with Intel i9, which only supports 3.0 soooo
Lol contradiction rules
does the board which you recommended have type c port on io?
just tells us it doesn't NEED all the bandwidth of PCIe 4.0 for good performance
Rear io or front io
Unless they decided to like hack intel and make their chip 4.0 with a custom mobo and stuff
rear
oh wait it doesn't
i am waiting for another month
can u send link
apparently not
@stoic island a note on pci-e 4.0 depending on what gen of intel they are using, it could in theory have been done on 4.0
in theory, very unlikely though
oh
11th gen "tiger lake" and whatever else they are called are in theory shipping with 4.0
in theory that is :D
Well, it has a bit of footing with mobo manufacturers claiming 4.0 support on Z490, but not from the 10th gen CPU
aye, rocket lake and brethren
what board would u recommend which has type c?
i am only up because the seagulls wont bugger off
I see
lemme just list some off rq
Naed schooner captain confirmed
B550m mortar B550m aorus pro B550m plus B550 pro4

B550 extreme 4
i want the vision d but too much money
I really gotta go now, one of those is bound to be below 140$, I think a pro was

hi folks
does anyone know if there's a pcie bluetooth card that doesn't eat up one of the on-board USB slots?
I see USB pcie cards and bluetooth cards that tap in to the motherboard, but nothing with both usb and bluetooth (and wifi). I don't really want to eat up two of my PCI slots for bluetooth, and I certainly don't want to use up my on-case usb ports just to have a bluetooth
any wifi card should come with bluetooth and shouldn't take any usb midboard headers
time for sleep :D
gn
@serene spire i build them to order and only deal locally, shipping PCs is a pain
i do handle buying the parts after receiving a deposit
Do you guys think that if I take the ssd from my old laptop that has windows 10 and try to boot from it with my new desktop, will it still run the full version of Windows?
Oh ok. Just wondering because I’m building a pc soon but I’m scared about accidentally breaking a part and not having enough to replace
it will want a new windows key and you'll probably have to fresh install @gentle harbor
windows keys are generally tied to the motherboard
and an existing windows install doesn't always play nicely with hardware changes- the more drastic the change the more likely something breaks
i7-9700K on Z390 chipset to i9-9900K on Z390 chipset? Should be seamless
i7-4700HQ on FCBGA1364 to Ryzen 5 3600 on B550 chipset? Almost certainly will break
Oh alright. Well I’ve tried it before but with two different Hard drives on multiple different motherboards and Windows booted up.
@serene spire just follow a good guide, if you have any specific questions i don't mind addressing them
@gentle harbor sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't
Ok. I’ll be sure to ask once I start actually building
Well I’m using a Ryzen 3600x along with a Gigabyte 1660 super gaming OC 6G GPU together. This is the first actual fresh build I’ve ever built so I’m trying to figure everything out since I’m used to tearing apart old Desktops and trying to make the best PC out of all of them.
you can give it a try... it probably won't boot right into windows, and if it does there will probably be a performance penalty
My Gramps is a tech geek so he collects stuff from people so I can make stuff out of it sometimes.
optimally just fresh install
I’ve looked into that and every one that I saw was different. Do you think you could give me a guide on how to do that?
Buy everything @little leaf
You need to buy the cheap stuff because the video card is the most important
i wouldnt recommend that
buying cheap parts and then buying an expensive gpu
will cause a bottleneck
which is not good for your computer
and possible explosion
the most important part is the power supply
you should never go cheap on it
new people dont really understand how this works
please watch multiple videos and tutorials before doing or buying anything
@little osprey lmao ik that
Was trying to get someone from gen to come no one came

3070 and 3600x prob
Evovleshift air
With a coraair sf 600 wat
Maybe 700
A 120mm aio from cooler master maybe
Not sure
Wont go intel because no z490 itz boards on the cheap
@autumn wolf you think so little of me you think ill get a 5 dollar plastic explosive
@little leaf i got newegg deal i7-10700k + aorus z490 elite gaming ac for $550
z490s arent cheap but the deal helps a lot
If i connect 6 coolermaster rgb fans to an arctic 10-fold pwm fan hub that connects through sata power, will i be able to control the fans with software?
the fans can connect through 4 pin pwm or 3 pin 5v argb
anyone know the length of the 3080 FE or any reference cards, cant find any of that yet
thanks @stoic island no 3090 for me
You're welcome
@earnest olive
HK???
wtf is the pricing in
for general purpose use and games like skyrim, valorant, hyperscape etc
wtf is the pricing in
HKD?
that's what they wanted
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mYKMBZ
there, i switched it to USD
lmfao all that shipping costs
@jagged ember just tell them to go find stores locally
i'm just getting a reference rn
are the parts in the build good for 1080p 60fps gaming
aand productivity work
@jagged ember just tell them to go find stores locally
@stoic island Also they have no pc knowledge whatsoever
it would probably be better to get 500gb nvme and 2 tb hdd @jagged ember also you dont need a 650w and that case is 🤮
yeah, i realized i didn't need 650 watts after i posted it
I also figured it'd be more cost effective for one single nvme instead of one nvme and one hdd
but, open to changes!
I too recommend a 500GB NVMe drive with a 2TB Barracuda
changes shall be reflected
if he needs the fast speed of nvme just download some stuff on that and then other things on the hdd
a singular stick of nvme and nothing else is kinda wak
I'm just adding an SSD because i don't want their pc to be slow af
cheaper + more space if u go hdd
i should ask, shouldn't i
lol i have an hdd and 2 2.5 sata ssds rn its not rlly slow
but when i upgrade im going nvme + hdd still
mm, will take that into account
You could go with a SATA SSD to start, but I wouldn’t upgrade to an NVMe SSD if you’re looking for speed
any sata SSD suggestions?
not samsung
i bought one before i knew about nvme and i die
F
you could probably just get a western digital blue 500gb sata ssd
but i would "stick" with the nvme
Most storage, too
yeah if he's playing games like valorant then sata would be speed
toned down to 450 Corsair CXM and reflected the storage changes
the case will remain the same, however
Loading a game with a hard drive-only system is actually significantly slower than with an SSD/HDD system (if the game is on the hard drive and not the SSD)
Because Windows struggles to load the game and handle itself with a single hard drive
rip cable management in that case
Not my problem, though
Semi-modular would be okay
Semi-modular is that everything other than the 24-pin and CPU cables are optional
ooh, that's fine then yeah
semi is like essential cables
Basically just as good of an option as fully-modular. I wouldn’t bother paying extra for a fully-modular PSU if the specs between that and the semi are the same
its not a good look
Are we sure about that 450W PSU, though?
I mean, it’s just a 3100 and a 1660 Super
what type of monitor does he have? freesync, gsync, neither? @jagged ember
oof
There's like 0 g sync ultimate monitors on the market, and if the monitor is made in the last 5 years 95% chance it's got freesync
wdym but ultimate
but at least nvidia also supports freesync
@weary bluff they re-did the naming scheme, it's g-sync compatible, then g-sync, then g-sync ultimate, most monitors on the market are compatible, like none are actual g-sync (ultimate)
😦 single fan GPU and that ssd
None of the silicon power sata ssds are decent
no its 2 fan gpu
P34a80 is the only decent ssd they make

change out that ssd
we have that emote
:P
yeah u can change dat

mr1111 do u know anything abput connecting fans
what about it
If i connect 6 coolermaster rgb fans to an arctic 10-fold pwm fan hub that connects through sata power, will i be able to control the fans with software?
the fans have 4 pin pwm or 3pin 5v argb
if the fan hub is connected via 4 pin pwm or something, likely yes
the fan hub connects with sata power
if it's only sata power
that would be weird
if there's nothing else connected to mobo you can't control it with software
looks like it does have pwm to motherboard
which means you can control fan speed and curve through bios using dat
Computer says 98 in the bottom right when I turn it on. Should I be concerned? What does that mean?
does the system not boot into windows?
It does
then who cares...
I just want to know.....
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/srNDDx thoughts? Except with a thermaltake floe rc for my cooler
cpu cooler is kinda overkill for a 3700x https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TYTqDx
@deep skiff true, just threw in something. Was thinking about the thermaltake floe rc, but mostly for aesthetics. idk if you’ve seen it but it’s a ram and cpu aio
hm i dont really like it cause it forces u to get their ram which is pretty expensive for what it is, id suggest just a normal aio
I mean it’s not TOO expensive but you’re right, I just really love the looks.
True ,true but I was thinking of just gettin a 1660
Oh I was talking to nachos lol
:D
