Better motherboard, better ram, better SSD, better PSU, swapped in a cheaper monitor to save a buck, your choice between IPS and VA really.
What about mouse and keyboard lol I don't have either
Mr1111 how did you become so knowledgeable with pc stuff?
he has nothing better to do
thought on this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/P8LGK4
@wraith trail it's just being active in this discord and follow @ naed and @ forks around
whos @ naed and @ forks
Wait for next gen GPUs plox
Naed is best teachie
he's offline now
Forks is best techie-mod
I'd also grab a better PSU...
i only have 1 gen 4 pcie right, but i want a boot drive and a games drive, so which one should i buy a faster ssd for
naed gives good advice
naed is scary
take a look at this rq, made this earlier
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3sZ4yk
i want to stick with intel
ofc you can go intel
but pay attention to the PSU part
Those are the PSUs I would put in the filter
I consider those the best consumer PSUs have to offer
I also like the case for the good airflow and included fans
I like the SSD for good pricing and good specs
Ram speed doesn't matter as much for Intel so you can ignore that part
ok
I see you spent time on that PSU filter
lel
not really tho
I'd like to add the swath of seasonic focus PSUs but too lazy, so just focus gold
Fair enough
that's all the PSUs I usually look for first when I make a list tho
RM/RMx, d.f., ion+, xpg core reactor, than focus gold
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TcNkx6 i edited this list
i did not make this list
A bit lower end PSU imo, so is the G1+
hm 34 esports duo shouldnt me much more for another fan on the cpu cooler
OlOy is decent, but I personally just don't like the heat spreaders on em
Need to look into Intel mobos at some point, but Intels main point is tuning everything for better perf. Such as 4000 cl16 ram, nice core/uncore OC, and such
That is true, but also the Intel fanboys people who just like the 5% gain in games
Which also, are you going 240Hz display?
if u wanna tune the cpu id go e die or b die
If not, Intel is kinda eh unless going 240Hz display.
Very vague on details there man. What's the full error?
How far does it get through the reset?
Computers are messy things, we need more information before we know what's going on :D
Ok gimme a sec
Whenever i run a game
It says critical error has occurred and the process has to be terminated
Or it says d3d9.dll is missing
Or it says SHELL32.dll is missing
Everything works fine
or
?
What does it say
simple answer: do a fresh install of your windows installation. Because "something" is truly borked (by the sounds of it) @clever root
If you're looking to reset anyways it could be worth installing windows via a USB drive
I did it on a usb drive
what’s ur gpu
ok
So you used the Windows media creation tool?
@cursive wharf can you take this? i am out for the night.
Did you get the right drivers?
Ok wait lemme explain
Ok
@foggy hazel I'll try
So i go to setting right
Good night Naed.
Yeah
best of luck mate(s)
Then i say reset pc
Ok
@desert gulch damn man
Then it says like delete all my files and stuff
And i say ok
Then it starts the process
Why did you reset?
But like at 40% it says i ran into a problem and couldn’t delete everything
@silent sundial if your gonna give advice at least make it helpful
^
advice for what
:/
Does anyone know a fix?
prebuilt was a joke
Ive been working on it for a couple of weeks
how
*days
search on YouTube
But why do you need to reset it?
Clean install / windows repair via the media creation tool (or whatever it's called) might be your best option
@deep skiff I think the link to media creation tool likes to not work on mobile. So can't link it
windows got borked from the sound of things
Ok
I want to reset it because something called d3d9.dll Is not there anymore
Do you have another desktop or laptop? @clever root
I think its corrupted
d3d9 sounds like some dx9 drivers
Desktop
Family one or friends
Can someone send d3d9 to him?
It’s mine
@cursive wharf https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO ?
But if someone had same GPU would it work?
anyways best just clean install Ryan
No no, I mean another one for you to use for like 30 mins or so
Yeah ig
messing around with files in there could have conflicting configs from different PCs
and bork it further
Best just use team ram mr1
Does anyone have any advice
why buy Rx it’s only good for gaming
How
Clean install of windows, or the repair tool thing
wipe the drive, reinstall windows
that's a clean install.
Do you have two drives?
I play roblox
Just like games and stuff?
I MEAN YOUU
@deep skiff for me it says my OS doesn't support Win Creation Tool (cuz mobile). Didn't want to send wrong link, think it doesn't change link tho. Idk
is the one i sent a little bit ago the link u wanted
is there a way u can replace ur case ?
Case?
yes
Why would that help
cause mines ass
@clever root alright, so do you have a second family/friend/personal PC that you can use for like 30 mins or so? You need to get a USB drive and install the Windows installer onto it via the Windows Media Creation tool linked by Nachos.
@deep skiff ye
For now, ignore @silent sundial :P
that link ^^
Not allowed to
bruh why
Well you can try installing it onto the USB drive using your PC. Do note this is different from pressing the reset thing in settings
english muffins in england are just muffins. but muffins that we know of here are known as american muffins over there
#muffinfacts
actually as i recall what we know as an english muffin is an american riff on the crumpet
the crumpet is kind of a yeast batter
english muffin is a bit of a dough sprinkled with semolina to prevent sticking
i approve
like obscenely so
i have a Logitech keyboard, all the function keys just became non responsive any suggestions
did you try unplugging it and plugging it in again
that is a good suggestion
if its wireless pull the batteries
reboots are not the end-all and be-all but it won't hurt
i have this old redragon keyboard
that i've had for seven years
it works fantastically.
yup thx everything i have bought from Logitech has broken at least once
my old g15 lasted forever till i spilled water on it
g910 is losing led's
but still works
Tried a different video card, msi board leds are still telling me I don't have a cpu or vga
Starting to believe this motherboard is messed up
Cpu is brand new, all these video cards are fine
hey guys can I format my ssd then its ready to use to another computer?
sure
i wouldn't get a new SSD
i'd try to reinstall windows
that's quite a waste of money
pcpartpicker.com/list/fyc6YH
I didn’t notice the 3600x was only more by like $8? Should I just change that out and my mb now? Or keep the parts I have 😭 I got great advice earlier
let me copypaste that URL
i'd say go for it
wait wait
you've gotta change out the motherboard?
i don't follow
No I don’t have too
It won’t let me 🥴
you really wanna make sure that build is correct😂
What’s another substitute for the graphic card I’m not feeling the feedback on it
LMFAO I HAVE TOO
nah i get it
I’m putting my hard earned money into it!!
i jumped the gun
Lol
same
i wasted a good opportunity
and for the gpu, i believe the comparison is to the 2060 but that card is ab 300
maybe 340 idk the specific price
youll be paying like 40-50 more
but thats its comparison
Yeah going to go this route
Thanks again for the help I had to change out the gpu for something that was in stock hopefully nothing else went out of stock
no problem
is this a good pc for $1100 CAD https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/
change the ssd to a m.2
hold up
kk
dam its to much thoe
nvm i looked at the parts thats rly good
lol
thanks
yup
i like the gskill ram with the 3200 speed to could i use that instead?
its cheaper and i dont think i need 3600 speed
ya i thought so
do i only need 1 fan
or none lmao?
and also i dont have enough storage its only 512 gb
i have a tight budget so is there anything that i can go for cheaper
like the power supply
ill do some more research
okie
my next budget flip is almost done, parts finally started showing up
thats good
cable management is in progress
and that's not the final ram/gpu
but i needed to test everything
when it's done it'll be an i3-6100, 8GB RAM, 4GB R9 380, 500W PSU, and a 60GB SSD for boot, and 1TB HDD for storage
Note:The Fractal Design Ion+ 560 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply length of 150mm is within the Cooler Master MasterBox MB311L ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower Case maximum of 325mm, but exceeds the recommended length of 140mm. Please verify that the connector locations on the power supply will not interfere with the structure of the case.
Note:Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders.
those bad?
might mean that there isn't a lot of room where the cables attach to the PSU, so they'll be making some tight bends right where they plug in
@errant berry
Any of you guys know where I can get a windows activation key In the USA for cheap?
Ebay
Is the 5700xt and AMD Ryzen 5 3600 a good pair?
Yed
Should I do anything to improve my build that I just posted
does everything look like they should go in their rightful place?
No its not...
What case is that
Hm
O
At all
Not really
I need some help building/ choosing the right components for my first PC can someone help me?
is it the 275R or the newer 275R Airflow
what does the front panel look like? is it solid or does it have all the slits and mesh and all that
if it's the solid front panel, airflow isn't great. if it's the fancier one, it's actually pretty good
hello guys
what do you guys think of this list?
pcpartpicker. com/ list/ Cpcf6R
working to get back into the game industry as a 3D artist, will be creating 3D assets, in-game props so to speak, working with 3D modeling and 3D renders in 3D packages such as Maya, Blender, 3DS Max, zBrush, and in engines such as: Unity, Unreal and more possibly
I need some advice. Is this the right chat to discuss builds?
ya
Yes
Depends on the seller. If it looks legit I'm not opposed to buying used
What i was thinking. Really just unsure about wear and tear. How long does a cpu normally last in good conditions? As long as you use it?
Looking to build a new pc with used cpu and gpu
I'm putting together a list and intend on starting to search for deals and purchase parts within the next two weeks. I'm upgrading from an i5 8400/1060 to a Ryzen 5 3600X (or 7 3700X, unsure yet)/probably a 3070, with the intention of building custom loop in about three months.
The only things I'm taking from my old system are my M.2 and my SSD. The old system is built in an In Win A1 and includes a Commander Pro/4x LL120s, and I know I can get around $1000 for it (Canadian) which offsets a bit of my costs.
The part I'm torn about is even though I can afford the build I can save a little more by selling my Nintendo Switch. I don't play it often, bought it mostly for Zelda/Animal Crossing, with the games and accessories I have I can probably get close to $800. That and the old PC cover more than half my costs for upgrading to this new rig. As fun as the Switch is, I prefer PC gaming and always have, but is it logical to sell it so I can feel less guilty about dropping near $2400 on a new PC?|
Edit: $2400 because if I'm building in 2020 I'm definitely going x570, Lian Li O11, six new white LL120s + Commander Pro, 4x16GB RAM, all color matched to look nice.
Those are choices that you have to settle by yourself.
@foggy hazel I'm trying, but I feel like I'm too close to make a judgement =/
there is none of us that can live your life for you
and since we cant do that, we cannot make those choices for you either
That's fair, I was more hoping that maybe somebody else had been in a similar position with the Switch and had insight - regrets about selling something they barely used, or relief that they didn't.
i have done that multiple times over my life
but, the impact of it is a personal one, as in, how much it has impacted me depends on the person
Myself as well - I only bought this one six months ago, I had to sell my first Switch to cover a month of rent while I was in college.
then you have the experience, you just dont want to commit to a path/choice.
And since getting it back I've barely touched it, apart from Animal Crossing for like a month lol.
Yes, exactly that
nothing i can help with friend :)
Lmao, well thanks anyway c:
look at things and where you see your life going for the next year+
and base it on something like that
so that you are making it certain that it is not just a knee-jerk reaction
The only thing I'm interested in with the Switch is BotW 2. The only other perk of owning it is I've moved into my moms basement (I'm doing a postgrad online, can work and not pay rent here while studying) and my two young siblings would have the opportunity to play some games with me - neither has shown much interest.
as i said previously, you are the one that has to make the choice :)
Yeah I know, just detailing my situation I guess. Partly because I don't get much chance to talk to other people anymore ❤️
:)
I feel like you should sell it but maybe keep the games, you can always get a switch lite for about 200 in the future if you want to play again @lusty glacier
That's a fair point
ya they are cheap so it isnt hard to get another
i think they are still developing it
but ya when its fully released thats a good idea
so amd or nvidia
neither is "better" than each other overall, it depends what features you want and your budget
Yo can I someone give me there opinion on the gpu I’m planning to get
I want my whole build around 700
About how much will that cost?
it might get prices down
Lmao no shot ima be able to afford that
But what gpu should I be aiming for in the 200$ range?
i know the 1660 super is like 230, so the 1660 is probably around that
I was planning on getting RX 580 but would it be worth it spending a few more bucks for the 1660?
yeah
hey guys got a b450 flash to 3.90 bios can i put the new ryzen 5 3600xt on this motherboard
Nah it’s like 170
5500xt for that price
or that
if you wait they may comeout with more budget options
or the prices on budget options will drop
I’m probably gonna go with that thank you
if your ok with a used card, you can get an RX 580 for really cheap
for like 100
even though the RX 580 performs a bit worse than the 1660, the price for what you get is much better
From where?
ebay
Ahh alright I’ll check that out
something like this is pretty good
Okay forsure thx for the opinions
Hey everyone im new here to this discord, Im currently trying to build a PC, Its going to be a slow process and take me many months(due to a cruddy job and bills). But so far i have a nzxt case, and some ram. Anyone have any suggestions to go from there? Also anyone thats willing to donate to the cause ^.^ lolll. Side note-- does a ryzen 7 3700x, and a 1660 TI is that a good pairing?
mmm NZXT case
yes the H510 to be exact seemed like a good choice, good wire management and i like the mesh it has for the intake
the H510 doesn't have mesh in the for front intakes lol
it sure does
the one i bought does
on the bottom, on the side, and one for the psu
@rustic garnet save up your money instead, and buy all the parts at the same time.
I mean I guess that's good if you like your GPU and CPU to choke up
those sides aren't enough lol
how much is the 1660 ti you're looking at?
279.99
i would just get a 2060 then
2060 is 300
1660 super is good as well at around $230 and pretty much performs like a 1660 ti if you want to save a little money
do you recommend this Egpu? AORUS RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box (eGPU), Embedded Geforce RTX 2080 Ti, Thunderbolt 3 Plug and Play, Custom Quiet and Silent Waterforce AIO Cooling System, Dual Thunderbolt 3 Controller, Support for PD (up to 100W), 3 x USB 3.0 GV-N208TIXEB-11GC
Do you know if you just plug into my notbook and everything works fine or do I need to buy some more adapter?
AORUS RTX 2080 Ti Gaming Box (eGPU), Embedded Geforce RTX 2080 Ti, Thunderbolt 3 Plug and Play, Custom Quiet and Silent Waterforce AIO Cooling System, Dual Thunderbolt 3 Controller, Support for PD (up to 100W), 3 x USB 3.0 GV-N208TIXEB-11GC
Do you know if it is possible afterwards to buy a new video card that will be released this month as 3090RTX and put in this Egpu?
If you're getting the new GPU just get an empty eGPU cage
soooo i have a 2070 super and this boio is running warm at 81 degrees when im playing games any recommendations to cool it down i usually have the fans set pretty high as well
Can you mount a 140mm fan next to the 120mm one in the front of a meshify c? Or do the fans have to be the same size or something? Sorry, noob question
the aorus box's are a little smaller and i don't think they were intended to swap gpus, idk if it's possible but there is a chance, i do think it would be better to just get an empty cage
@rustic garnet what mesh in the h510 lmfao
There's no mesh in the h510
Airflow pretty bad
Holes in the metal is not mesh
And air does not like being pulled through a 90 degree angle
thats a filter
NZXT H510 - CA-H510B-B1 - Compact ATX Mid-Tower PC Gaming Case - Front I/O USB Type-C Port - Tempered Glass Side Panel - Cable Management System - Water-Cooling Ready - Black
thats the one i bought
not technically "mesh"
well mesh/filter
yall being super technical
i worked with that case 3 times
oh i didnt see the message
its not good for airflow
the way air flows barely gives it room to breathe
Ya air doesn't like being pulled through a 90 degree angle
i didnt say front
No real mesh anywhere imo
Filter isn't exactly mesh
Mesh allows for airflow
Like I wouldn't call the front panel on 220t airflow mesh
That's still a metal panel with holes in it
Granted that's a lot of holes that allows for decent airflow
wow gee ty all never got a answer to my question ok
@whole zenith ask again then :P
and you didn't give enough information
1.9 what bios
Gigabyte F51 gives support for xt
or wait
F51 gives an AGESA update for xt processors
Looks like bios doesn't matter as long as it supports 3rd gen
any suggestions for building my 1st pc under $500
used
Yes but I don't think the used market will change much in the time
or if they are getting more money wait
New market for GPUs don't really change when new gen comes out, but Used market usually gets flooded with last-gen parts, Used-Market-Wise
And more money wait too
Waiting is multi-purpose
hey guys
hi
how you doing?
👍
Im gonna build my first pc on friday
my first parts arrived yesterday and im sooo stoked
nice. i have all my parts just sitting around until i get my gpu. i could put it together but nah
my pile
Is there someone I can dm to get a refund on the ram I have. Or how do I do that? I don’t want this brand ram anymore it didn’t work on the build. Do I do it all on the website or live chat ?
Was it the ram that was causing your problems?
@unborn solstice you could put it together and use the integrated graphics in the i9
what gpu is coming btw
I still haven't figured mine out. Tried a new video card. Didn't make any difference. Vga led still comes on
waiting on 3090
ye
Re-seated the cpu a few times. Cpu led still comes on
are u gonna buy a founders or are ya gonna buy an aftermarket like Zotac
why wont my ram fit in my psu
ram dont fit
probably founders. its gonna come out first and cooling actually looks decent
i bought some ddr4 3600 for my lga1156 but it doesnt fit
plus i have 3 case fans like 2 inches below it to cool it too
no its soddr
like laptop ram?
idk just send what ya got and send a photo of the mobo
whats a mobo
motherboard
funny
^
???
Damn. Was your ram led coming on even?
Mine isn't. So I guess I was thinking I could assume ram wasn't the problem but who knows
@young bluff as has been asked before. What mainboard do you have?
@ancient comet did you get an answer for your question?
if not, then contact @fresh garden they are the ones that can actually help you @ancient comet
@foggy hazel asus p7p55m
okay.
Next question: you mentioned that you had bought DDR4 ram?
Just so you are aware. That does NOT work with that specific mainboard.
that motherboard is ddr3
hey sorry asrock b450m pro
@stoic island you have a catch here, right above this
i meant that you had a answer(catch) for your earlier statements (in case you werent bouncing the channels)
ok ty
Oh I saw your response on h410 mobos if that's what you mean
I'm mostly bouncing around where messages appear :D
no no, i specifically meant the message from Malo :)
Ah haha I got in the channel just in time to see he was typing so I responded :)
I keep remembering the ds3h as ASRock for some reason, as I expect ASRock boards to be cheap :(
Anyways, gigabyte bios wise, F40+ should so fine, F51 increases support
was wondering if anyone can help. I have a cyberpower PC with wifi...I lost the universal network antenna and can't figure out which ones are comparable....does anyone have an idea?
contact cyberpower
that is quite literally what their support department is there for
I did they only build and told me universal network antenna
if you are in doubt, ask them for details
again, dont worry, you are not the first or the last that will ask them about that.
ok, I will call them again to get better details.
because IF there are any "quirks" in their implementation, then they are the ones that know :)
got it...understand...thanks
you are very welcome and best of luck
When I jumpstart my PSU, it starts right up no problem even with my rgb fans hooked up to it. But when I plug my PSU into my motherboard with nothing else plugged into it but the PSU, it won't start at all even using a screw driver to try and turn it on.
Is you cpu power plugged in?
yes
That's strange
So the board lights up for a split second when I turn the PSU on, but when I plug my rgb fans into it there is no light. Both situations the motherboard doesnt turn on.
So you're saying you need your fans to be plugged in, in order for it to turn on?
read again
No, the fans are ust to see if it turns on.
oh
You're trying to jump the motherboard front panel on/off correct?
yes.
the button doesnt work from the case, so Ive tried statring it without it using a screw driver
I wanted to see if everything works before I put the cpu in.
So far I have put in the RAM, the PSU and the buttons to turn on the motherbaord into it with no success of it turning on
which board?
One thing I forgot to say but the RAM is rgb too and when I press the refresh button, those turn on after a minute, but nothing else
the RGB on the PSU doesn't even turn on or the an on it either.
Its a GIGABYTE B450 AORUS PRO WIFI
and when you power it on, nothing happens right?
congrats, thats the expected behaviour.
the board is an enabler for the parts
it doesnt "do" anything by itself
So right now everyting is unplugged from the motherboard, just the PSU
and nothing will happen IF you turn on the board
because there is "nothing for the board to enable"
IF you read the manual, you will see why cpu is the first thing they recommend installing.
The board has rgb on it too
Oh alright
in summary: Please read the manual, there is a reason you get one with the mainboard :)
It's a high expectation these days :D
But it's very true that you should read the manual when you encounter issues
Alright guess I should have, but the reson why I didn't was becasue I ordered the stuff for the build and the CPU arvived today so Ill go pick it up and get back to you guys.
Thank you guys for the help. Should have came to you guys first before I spent 4 hours looking on the internet for a solution.
Heh, half of the challenge is knowing what question to ask, and the other half is actually looking for the answer :)
aye
Exactly thats why I love human beings instead of virtual assistants.
Virtual assistants are just really bad at noticing problems they weren't asked to find
should i get the 5600xt or the 2060 for vr
thats an official announcement
idk when they actually release
but they'll specify then
oh yea they have a stream for it
My PC won't turn on but I see lights displayed on my CPU cooler and GPU
Help
After swapping a new motherboard
But was it like a b450 with a 3600?
What
Hmm
You get the photo I sent you jax
Lemme look
If someone can help me I need a new SSD for computer and wondering if it fits
A 2.5 or should I buy a NVMe M.2 PCI ou SATA
@kind flax anyways check all power connectors esp CPU power, and do you have debug LEDS?
@weak iris what motherboard?
I don’t know hot to find the name of the motherboard
They don’t say in the product description
What did you buy @weak iris
@little osprey depends on what you do, and also wait for tomorrow for the Nvidia Announcements
@stoic island sent you a pm with link
Anyways
from that 1 pic
you took a picture of a M.2 E key slot, which usually can't have an SSD, and are used for wifi cards, BUT
Ok
it is labeled M.2_3, so I assume there are 2 other M.2 slots
hmm
their site isn't too useful
lemme grab a random pic and tell you what to look for
@stoic island u were helping me yesterday with a optiolex build and windows crashing it’s doing the same thing and I tried the fix from fork it’s giving code system service exception and saying win32kbase.sys failed
Ok yea bc this is an old ass drive it’s the only 7200 I got lying around tho I might just order another off amazon it’s a build for my bro just to have sum to play fortnite in so it doesn’t need to be fast lol thanks for your help brother
And like sometimes it just shuts down the pc
And reboots
Well, even so you should prob get like a 512gb MP34 lol
SSD Boot drive is really nice
is building your own pc cheaper or getting a prebuilt one then upgrading
If your budget is above like 800$, building your own PC is very likely to be much cheaper
if your budget is like 400$, buying a Optiplex and upgrading is a great budget option.
Optiplexs aren't prebuilt gaming PCs, they're old office machines
Getting prebuilt gaming PC and upgrading is very rarely ever a worthwhile option
I'm guessing that's 1200$
ha no
You can do better with 3600+2060s at 1000$ (if you built yourself)
and that slow ram would be quite sad
ya
Anyways
oh and 600w psu
Are you planning to build yourself?
ya
Do remember Intel cheaper boards limit ram freq
ok
but AMD side, 3600c16 ram is great
Lol ye boot drive ssd nice but he only paying for gpu which is a 1050 so 👀
i want a sata ssd for boot and then m.2 for games
yea
no point of a 2.5 inch ssd
the m.2 is for games and boot
cuz u gonna be pissed when it take a while to start windows
and then use a hard drive for crap
like said above
ya i already have some hdds
example:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mxhkhg
hmm ok thanks
It's kinda sad I'm not as up to date on prices and stuff as usual so I can't pump out a good list every minute like I used to :P
well i dont need a hdd cuz i already have two and i wanted like a 2tb m.2
I'll slap in a 1tb NVMe drive, I doubt you'll need a 2tb m.2 drive lol
I have a 1tb NVMe drive and I've filled like 600gb or so of stuff, rest goes on HDD
I even have MW on the SSD
and GTA
ok
but games like borderlands I don't play as often goes on the HDD
also when is the 3060 coming out
Announcement tomorrow
retailers having them in stock, I assume preorder for a week or two
maybe a bit more
we'll see tomorrow
2000 series was a month delay between announcement and ship date
so we might see that again
might be shorter
ok
just to be prepared for worst case, don't be surprised if it's a month at least
because if it is a month, people will rage even though there's precedent from last time
Can you make a pcpart list for around a $2000 pc? thanks @stoic island
For doing what kinda things?
I'll prob have to slap in a 1200$ 3080 placeholder tho, even though we're not sure on the pricing for the upper budget cards
1440p to 4k gaming, programming, photo and video editing, maybe streaming
everything will be easier when MSRP gets released :P
ya
hmm
While I would say Intel for 2000$ pure gaming, video editing would really like dem AMD cores
hm
I'll make 2 lists
ok thanks
gawd damn I forgot how easily Intel builds get expensive lmfao
lol
this is what I would've thought to be under 2000$
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vXL9f9
but is actually 2400$
ick I'll work on the 2000$ AMD build first and thin that down in terms of price
ok
gonna go for 32gb of ram in these builds because video editing can take more
ya
how would you guys rate this budget setup
remember you dont have to include the hdds 🙂
turns out, it's the 3080 that's messing up calculations in my mind hmm
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PqkJjp
Eh, I like leaving them in just in case
@ancient comet how did you figure out your ram was the problem?
i did almost the same thing, just went for a 3700x and different case/psu
same motherboard/ram/storage, heh
@little osprey I'd get a better PSU, check the PSU tier list pinned in here, grab a 3100 for cheaper and better gaming perf, and try to get a better GPU such as like a 1650 super if at all possible
heh lol
you really cheaped out on the PSU there eh
oh i did the P1 instead of the MP34
Case is all optional, I just love the TD500 mesh for any build 1000$+
i was trying to remember which corsair is higher on the tier list, i thought it was the CXM gray
the rx570 is the equivalent to a gt 1650 just a bit older and cheaper
lmfao ofc not
CXM has coil whine issues
@little osprey 1650 super beats 570 and 580
is it the CX then? i'll have to check
not from what i was told
the s stands for super, just shortened
that was the thing i wasn't sure about
plus the 3100's were out of stock so i can't get those
oh that's right, it's the RM and CX's that are the better ones, not the CXM
yeah scratch that PSU in my list
this what guy who i was talking to said about the 570. "GPU is an RX 570. It's older however performs better than the 1650 still AND you can usually get them for really cheap used. I use a 570 that I got for $80 and it treats me well!"
so idk
1650 does not mean 1650 super
those are different GPUs
1650 is actually kinda bad
the super is good
yeah i never said 1650 super
@spiral zealot basically, Corsair PSUs that start with R and A are just amazing
and then C is good
CXm has coil whine issues
Other companies get messy
yeah
you know what, I'm gonna make a selection of all the good PSUs I know to be at decent prices around 650-750w
brb
Here
Actually, @cursive wharf , want to take a look over the selection here?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tHGPMc
the ones that just say "Focus" are either GM, GX, or PX
i am getting a ryzen 5 2600
actually spent some time on it this time
When I install a new CPU the drivers should install themselves right?
I just wanna make sure 😂
CPUs themselves don't need drivers
So if the memory I am trying to use isn't listed on the compatibility list on the msi site, is it definitely not compatible?
no
Not on the list = not tested
My kit isn't listed for my B450 gaming pro carbon ac, still works great at rated speeds.
Ok. Also if it isn't compatible, shouldn't the dram led on the motherboard be lighting up instead of vga and cpu
Nope
Has anyone messed with the Thermaltake Tower 900 Black Edition?
Trying to figure out the card slots if they even have them for the back.
For like video editing and other componets
I downgraded my bios, and now I actually get a signal to my monitor every few seconds. It's just turning the light on the monitor to green and then it says no signal though
I wonder what that means
Anyone know a good AM4 Socket ATX Motherboard that is good for a 3600 and a 5600xt?
@patent mica what would you like to know?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xm7PMc looks good to me. Other than processor price being unconfirmed, most other parts are what I am 100% going with. Especially the case. I really like the look of it
if when I get it the 3600 drops in price I'll go with that. 3600x is only $10 mor currently.
Also if WD SN750 drops in price I'll go with that.
$1000 is my budget so there has to be compromises
People I know had really bad experiences with EX950, and grab a MP34
MP34 is cheaper anyways
mp3444444444444
Save money by going non-rgb ram
@stoic island ur gonna lose it when the mp35 comes out
I didnt pick the ex950. I picked the ex920
You can get a better PSU without spending much more
meant to say 920
but still
Mp34 is better at same specs
and I don't trust HP after both of the people I know who use HP SSDs had it corrupt on them
Anyone tried to nvlink 4 titan rtx
Linus
Linus
@stoic island He done it with quadro
¯_(ツ)_/¯
For example, S12iii @plush wigeon
https://www.newegg.com/seasonic-s12iii-bronze-series-ssr-650gb3-650w/p/N82E16817151228
@stoic island iirc PX had them high transient issues. FX did too, and I feel like just the [thing]X will have issues thus maybe GX? I'll look into it soon cuz busy
I'll look into it soon too, but I thought it was the focus plus stuff that had some issues
this thing?
Anyways ping me back with your findings Hei
I hope the SN750 goes back down in price. It is the SSD I want the most.
Why not a mp34
... not on write endurance xD
I'll check rated speeds again, but MP34 do be like 66$
I am just mostly gonna be gaming
i was going to get mp34 but snagged an sn750 for $52 a few weeks ago
Holy hell what's with the specs on the ex920
3200/1800
That write speed is surprising
I also like that the SN750 has 5 year warranty. mp34 only has 3
Sn750 is nice, but I'd still grab mp34 over ex920 any day
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zY7RZf this is the updated list. When the time comes to purchase and the SN750 is a good price I'll switch to that. Same for 3600 processor.
model o but i dont like the company
@deep skiff isn't it past roast glorious week
no
Oh it's still going?
they put a trademark on holy pandas even tho they arent even gonna sell holy pandas
wow. Glorious is a pretty pretentious company name
They do make great mid-end options tho imo
and
Since it will not let me send pictures Ill just list my part list 1. Amd ryzen 9 3900x 2. coolermaster master liquid 360r rgb 3. rog strix b-550-f gaming wifi 4. corsair vengence rgb pro 2x16 3200mhz 5. seagate barracuda and a sabrenet 1tb nvme 6. RTX 3080 7. coolermaster masterbox td500 mesh 8. coolermaster mwe gold 750w budget was 2100$
ok
I can post it, it's since your not lvl 3 it won't let you post links
To prevent spam
Yea
So if anyone thinks there something that can be improved on the list @ me
Isnt flight sim 2020 cpu instesive
well then in what sencarios would i need a r9
I might do all around this is also going to be my collage pc
I think thats wronh
I thought it was going to be 800$ hmm
either way, my suggestion IF it is 800$
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RwBLhg
silly season is getting you @stoic island
I really dont think they are not gonna have the new cards witg that big of a inxrease
As they like to say, prepare for the worst, hope for the best Naed :D
its supposed to be 900+ no way its gonna be cheaper than that
Indeed Naed, I've been lacking the silly recently, I mean, I've actually been reading manuals! The silly was bound to come at some point...
well, here is a "fun" thought for the people that think/hope that prices will be at least reasonable
Yea
they could easily slot the cards in ABOVE, as in way way above the current ones
just put it at 1k so it makes it look like a better deal ez
it all depends on performance.
would it be worth replacing the 3900x with a 3800xt?
3800x and 3800xt arent really good value vs 3700x
and since the silicon has been getting better the 3700x is pretty decent at overclocking
3800x is like +200mhz boost clock, and 3800xt another 200mhz on top xD
not really worth it
yea I suppose so or should i wait for 4th gen becaasue im building around chrismas
ya just wait if you can
Which is better
For AMD builds, ripjaw
Wouldnt you want the lower cl
b dieeeeeeeeeeee
E
Ok
they have the same latency (cl18 kit is a higher mhz), but infinity fabric on amd prefers 3600mhz over 3200mhz so it will perform a little better
ya
Would i even use all 8 cores on a 3700x ?
At this point I’ve learned more about building pc after I’ve built mine than before I did, I wish I could re build mine, it would look so much better
Would you? we don't know what you will do :D
ouch
why the 660p
everything is so good
then a 660p lol
and only 1 fan in o11?
ya there werent many choices for the filters i put in for the m.2
and i not finished with the fans
3070 better be significantly better than a 2080 and the 3060
we don't know
wow really
true
but based on cost it should be better than a 2080
and core counts
none of it is official :D
but that means very little
Nvidia can pull some crap out their ass
I'd like to wait for the official announcement
isnt it tmrw
its like 8pm for me
i have been waiting to upgrade off my meh gpu for a while
very hyped to see the new changes and performance
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RpfMRk this was for fun using the highest priced item for the main categories.
Amazon has some real scammy 3rd party sellers is what I got from doing this lol
so like i already some parts that i didnt choose i just neet to get the rest
i need to a get a 17-5820k, cpu cooler, ssd, and psu
Looking to do a solid VR set up trying too keep the budget decent dont want to go crazy was thinking about a ryzen 5 3600 and a 5600xt, any thoughts?
What tour budget for the PC?
15-16 or less pref
1500-1600 just for the PC?
Yeah
You could be in 2080 territory there
Wait until tomorrow
When they announce the 3000 series and when it'll come out
True that
Didnt really think about it im still in the thoughts stage with my girl cause we are gunna split it
Do you need a monitor and key+mouse?
Nah man i have everything else already except the vr set up
Thanks man appreciate it
Yep
I'm fairly new to computers
What's a motherboard and how much would a decent budget one cost for a gaming pc
well, 500$USD is average! as you go you could buy better parts over time. a motherboard is what EVERYTHING connects too, CPU, RAM, GPU, PSU, HDD/SSD, and expansion cards. currently theres two large cpu platforms at the moment, INTEL and AMD
these two CPU manufacturers are what youre going to decide which motherboards youre going too pick, an AMD cpu wont fit into a INTEL mobo
500$?
you can check you linus techtips for a 60$ pc
Could I get something alright for 100-200$
