Oh wow
That is a motherboard or psu issue
If the computer boots, than I can do anything.
Didn’t you like replace the case?
It was a mobo problem oh
Tell me wattage and motherboard
But still could be power supply. What’s the make and model of the power supply and what’s the model of motherboard
Lol thought that issue might fix it
Yeah cause what happen to that computer was the power supply caused a surge destroying both
Do what yams tells ya
That’s a lot of pressure
Yeaaaa
@ me when you have the PSU and Mobo pls thanks
@fast dust X570 Aorus Elite motherboard and Corsair HX850 power supply.
Oh wow. Beefy specs there
Okay hmm
Uh
Honestly, never encountered this problem so
@wary geode
My assumption is it’s a motherboard problem. I doubt a PSU as good a San HX would cause that
Do me a favor send a vid
Check the fan on the psu
It happened to a Evga before
@earnest delta
Video please
I am unable to do that at the moment. Thank you for the help though.
It’s fine I would say to replace both
@earnest delta that’s what I did everything worked fine after that
You have warranty for long time so ur fine
I can mention though that the booting can happen 2 ways. Either fans only enable computer failing to boot, or the fans are quiet and the computer cycles twice and then boots.
The new parts in the computer as of the recent build are the processor, motherboard, and memory.
Hmmm... today it booted first try...
*booted
Yeah, I would've brought my computer to a repair store already, had this not been a pandemic.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bKXR7T wasting time 101
Wow
well good luck getting 20 grand

:)
noctua
Yep
I wish they would be spin a little faster, IDC about noise
Like my internal fans sound like an airplane anyway
i'm thinking of replacing my gpu fans with noctuas when i get it for consistancy
could i have some help
Your new toys for a personal rig or a flip? @wary geode
Custom build!
Nice
He paid now he’s waiting for it imma stream building it soon!
Ok sweet
@potent prairie I wonder if they made any IPC 60mm/80mm fans
@stoic island these are 92mm
I think they make 80mm too
huh
I chose em b/c low profile
You only need 6 things for a pc right? The GPU,CPU,SSD,Power Supply, Motherboard, and Case. Anything I’m missing
memory(RAM)
Ok
CPU cooler but some cpus come with one
Hard drive is optional if you want to download lots of games or files
Reason: Bad word usage
Lmao
What spread method did you use? @viral ore
Pea in the middle
@viral ore so I built a pc with a 1600af b450 prime a csm abd a 970
The build disnt post so I switched the 970 witha 1060
It posted
So the. i got a 1650s and put it in and it wont post
So im very confused
Wack
Boot it without a gpu, see what happens
I mean I could try but there is not igpu
See if the symptoms of the system differ than those with a gpu that works and a gpu that doesn't
Is 650 watt 80+ bronze ATX semi modular is good?
Thats a nice spread for a pea
@viral ore nope
How long was the Waterblock on for
About half a year
Looks like it hasn’t been on for long tbh
Hmm
My second cpu spread is good too, but not as good as the one in the pic
There's a bit of the corner that isn't covered lol
Nice
But I used a spreader so I kinda cheated lol
Haha lmao
@viral ore wat do I do
Nice
How did the system respond with no GPU?
The same
Same as bad GPU?
Yes
Did you test the gpu in another system before hand?
Idk, try leaving the 1060 in there for now
No but its new ill check in a sec
The 1060 was a friends I borrowed
So I dont got it
Up
maybe a power issue?
Thats what I thought but a 1650 uses less power than a 1060 iirc
Fan on gpu turns on too
hmm
What's going on
Built pc
Posts with old card
Not new card
1600af b450A prime csm
Org card 970 no post
1060 post
1650s no post
Helll
P
i mean your new card might be damaged idk im not an expert
anyone know how long until ryzen desktop 4000 and nvidia 3000 rtx?
Supposedly Q4 this year
Is 650 watt 80+ bronze ATX semi modular is good?
@hollow bridge some are. Some aren’t. What’s the make and model of the PSU in question?
@fast dust PowerSpec
Brand gives me no information @hollow bridge. Brands make some good, some bad power supplies
Corsair is too expensive for me
What is the model
CPU just came in today, Motherboard should arrive tomorrow. Case, keyboard, and memory should all hopefully arrive by the 31st or August 3rd. Which just leaves buying my graphics card, power supply , monitor and SSD.
like modular?
If I owe we a pc before hand I probably could have saved on a keyboard and monitor
lemme just send the product
hay anything you guys would change in this build the budget is 600
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wFbwdm
https://www.microcenter.com/product/485312/650_Watt_80_Plus_Bronze_ATX_Semi-Modular_Power_Supply @fast dust
I need help with a budget build. My budget is $2.600. I would like RGB and a excellent mid tower case with good airflow.
"budget" :c
@hollow bridge looks decent. What CPU+GPU are you running
uh
this cpu
this gpu
It’ll work. Not the best option but it’ll work
I would have gotten a Corsair CX450 instead. It’s around the same price
Ah dang
Cooler Master MWE?
CXM is pretty good. But it’s got coil whine issues
i dont know what that means
Meaning lost of times it will make a high-pitched squealing noise
The normal CX series doesn’t have that problem, just the CXM ones
ok
Check the pins of this channel, you’ll find a PSU tier list. Shoot for tier B+
If you can’t do tier B+, tier B will work
But try your best to get tier B+
@hollow bridge
@wide musk you’re going quite a bit over $600 there
yea 600 is a good to be at spot little wiggle room what would you change?
yah
i cant find any other psu with a cheaper price with bronze rating ill look again
hay found one 5 usd cheaper with bronze
@fast dust ok
@wide musk bronze doesn’t mean it’s good
true than what does?
Uh... quality?
Ripple, regulation, soldering, all kinds of stuff. You gotta look at detailed reviews. Not customer reviews, but reviews by experts
oik
anyone know how to make my games for now and on install on my hard drive instead of my ssd?
Anyone have a recommendation of a AM3+ socket with M.2 motherboard?
anyone know how to make my games for now and on install on my hard drive instead of my ssd?
@little osprey you can find the setting in downloads in steam
Is the i9 9900k good with an 2070 super, is that not a good match? Or will it cause bottleneck?
do you have the 9900k already?
small amount of it
are two noctua NF-P12 1700 PWM good enough to cool a h510i when i replace the stock fans with them and have no front fans?
Ok help
Again
@neon condor @sullen spoke 1650s 970 and 1060 no longer work on the pc
Org build 1600af b450a prime csm gskill ram crucial p2 cxm 450 970 then that didnt work so I threw in a 1060 that worked so I got a 1650s and put it in didnt work so I put in the 1060 again and no post yet again
@little leaf clean PCIe slot?
How can I clean it?
idk on that one. Maybe some air?
Idk if its dirty but best though
get an old nes cleaning kit, they're designed for cleaning the connector inside the nes
which is basically a card slot
they're just cards covered with some kind of felt
and you usually get a little bottle of contact cleaner with it
actually, easier way might be to use some 99% isopropyl and a qtip to clean one of the video card pci connectors, and then put just a couple of drops inside the pci slot, and then insert/remove the card a few times, hit it with some compressed air, and should be good to go
assuming that's the problem
@autumn wolf and @mossy citrus
@little osprey it isnt bad for streaming it just has worse value
ye im not lookin for the highest definition in streaming
also an nvidia gpu has their nvenc encoder which helps out with recording/streaming
which is why its better to choose an nvidia gpu over amd
Intel is still on 14nm++++ to the 69th power
wait so if i get amd cpu, i cant get the rx 5700?
you can get an amd cpu and amd card, but i wouldnt recommend getting an amd card
ye amd leading intel lol
amd cpu and nvidia gpu
wait so what says if its a amd or intel gpu? so ik
cpu
Intel gpu suck balls
cpu and gpu are different things
intel doesnt have a gpu yet except for their integrated graphics
ye i mean like u said rx is amd, and intel is somethn else
Intel is just cpu
not cpu
ok got any gpus to recommend?
Budget?
under 350?
...
i could budge and go to 400 if need be
Ok
ill send a list of what i had planned
what currency?
Do u need wifi?
USD and yes i need wifi
Ok
cuz im not sure if my new place will have a router (going to be moving soon)
brb ill send what build i had in mind
have to write it up
ill be back in 45 mins, so 10am est
@little osprey https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gWVmwh
alright i got a build written down
i cant send pic lol
rtx 2080 super 8, u guys really want me to go for that high high end gpu haha, what is the newest one, i saw it at like 1.4k 🤣
Because MoRe RgB
mmhmm
From what I could gather, a build such as this is perfectly fine for what he needs, unless I missed something
The case is just a cheap placeholder, but it's still a good cheap case
case i am going with 6 built in fan case
its only 89 bucks
i cant do 500w, too low of a power supply
wow 2060 used to be at 380 bucks wth? now its at 410 lol
500w isn't too low
500w is what you need
What kind of video editing?
@little osprey
just basic videos
i dont think ill go crazy with animations etc.
just like a screen record and thats it
Oh ok, stuff like that
So 1080p video, a handful of effects
As long as you aren't gaming while editing your videos, I can't suggest more than 16gb of ram
Plus, any caching your system does will be done to nvme, so in the rare event you use more than 16gb, you won't notice a performance hit
lol
hey guys question
ssd hard drive vs m.2
is there a really big difference between the two
and would it be better to not get an ssd hard drive and instead up the m.2 ssd storage
im just trying to understand the point of hard drives
ik m.2 is faster in read/write and i cant find on info page on pcpartpicker where i can find the read/write speed of a hard drive
i also have a list of monitors i want to choose but i dont know which is good
my min req for the monitor is that its 144hz, and can run 1440p
24-26inches if possible
what is tn, va, and ipe on panel type?
idk what tenkeyless means
tenkeyless is the number pad
tryna find a mouse, keyboard combo under 30 bucks
on the right side of the keyboard
ahh
so tenkeyless is no numpad
so if it says no, that means it doesnt have it right?
not tenkeyless means it has a numpad
aight for 39 bucks ill take it, whatever lol
still struggling on monitor choices
and ssd m.2 vs hard drive
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sKZ2FT/thermaltake-keyboard-kbcmcplblus i also found this
if u wanna take a look
get an ssd if u can afford it
ye i saw that
ah
ill send my build rn
i dont want a keyboard with heavy feedback
so the clack clack clack crap is out of here lol
i get carpal tunnel really fast on those keyboards, i want something like a laptop keyboard, nice and flat, i dont mind a small curve
so you want a non-mechanical keyboard?
i guess so
would be nice to have rgb
ok
but dont care much on looks, i dont buy my pc to look at it, i buy it to play cod or some sht lol
ill do the thermaltake keyboard u had
what do u have rn
like the one u found
ye i had that too
mm
theres 2 diff keyboards
the 2 u saw
knowing what i want in a keyboard, let me know which owuld be a better fit
ok
as far as monitors go i want somethn thats 24 inches but cant get that without spending another 50 bucks so i went 23.6 inches
want it to run at 144hz 1440p 1080fps
whats ur final budget
1300 if we exclude the monitor etc.
ok
but i want to get this price down to 1500
so i need 55 bucks poof, gone
well 12 bucks actually, cuz we have 2 keyboards in there
theres gatta be a cheaper monitor, cant possibly all be by 200 bucks i mean cmon lol
hm you can save a lot of money if u change ur video card to a radeon
or do u want gsync
i want gsync
ok
i dont think i can get any cheaper motherboard tbh, 163 that surprised me my initial attack was at 220
someone here gave me this build and i kinda made some edits
for motherboard i need wifi and bluetooth
ok
idk if that has it
@little osprey send me link, i'll see if I can make edits
what price do u want it?
k
one of them will be gone so its not 1555
which one do u not want?
I have a better solution- for keyboard
I want a keyboard that is like a laptop
oh....
no feedback
so-
like this
u mean one with no sound?
ur not gonna find something like that from outside apple
ye lol
so im fine with a little push up like those 2 have
i just dont know which one gives less feedback
outside of a laptop, you may be better off just getting a razer blade 15
it'll have a good keyboard
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#X=0,18000&r=192001080&D=144000,280000 these monitors fit ur wants for cheaper than the one you got
link?
i suggest one of the IPS ones
one sec
im tactical btw
ganna use my pc, phone dead
@stark bramble ye those are the ones i narrowed down to
and i chose optix
i am not quite sure the difference tho
4ms vs 1ms
i aso dont know what the panel types mean
ips is best
va tn ips
https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Performance-i7-9750H-Keyboard-Aluminum/dp/B08C2HS953 is the laptop
https://www.amazon.com/Razer-xasilisk-HyperSpeed-Wireless-Gaming/dp/B07YPBQSCK is the best mouse in the world under 100$, no debate
@little osprey
@arctic jungle that laptop is constantly in my inbox, but way too overpriced for the parts they give
which is why i dont mind changing my comfortable zone for keyboards just tog et out of laptops
@little osprey not true- don't forget the 144hz display, comes with keyboard as well
what can i build for ~500?
@outer heart try rx 580 and r3
@little osprey u don't know what ur talking about... i've bought that exact laptop b4, and my friend uses it, he's never had any problems b4
thats y i reccomended it
kk i’ll check it
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zFLdZf this is what i ended up w for him
@little osprey he needs a laptop bc he wants a keyboard with 1 mm travel
right under 1500
but the keyboard
he needs 1 mm travel
no external keyboards like that, besides apple
nah
@stark bramble i like it
it's actually perfect
you like the laptop?
i am tryn to last 10 yrs
not 1-2
from now
not talking about from the time it was manufactured
would MSI GF65 be decent for a secondary pc
@stark bramble i like ur build
@arctic jungle how did u send that amazon link
u can't
it says i cant send links from this website
oof
how do i get there
but anyways whats the dpi on that mouse
the mouse that communist put in the build is a 1600 dpi
tbh i think ima spend way to much money in 12 months from now
16000
so my 1600 is not good
ok im back on this account, switched of on my comp
that was the mouse he chose
lmao what was his budget ive seen stickers cost more
I'm on a bit of a budget, is this good?
@hushed crystal
Do you have an actual parts list, b/c 400w ATX power supply tells me nothing. I could probably get you a better value build if you tell me your max budget and use case
Compared to?
i just need a motherboard that can hold an amd cpu
one sec lemme get my build link again
tomahawk ??
Yeah, I mean there are cheaper ones you can get, but that is a solid one
The p1 ssd is meh tho
the one i have is better
I would get a mp34 (QLC-->TLC)
No, ssdf
i got this one because from 256gb ssd to 512 it was only 5 bucks
also with a 2070 u can do 2k 144
@arctic jungle someone told me 2070 will be obs or somethn like that
basically not supported
@little osprey I fixed ur parts list
Yeah, but I'd get the ROG mobo b/c cheaper, same chipset, and still rgb
...
they said 2060 would get more support
infinity2437
lmao nah the 2080 ti is solid card way better lmao
yea
ngl that monitor kinda eh
but its also 1300
You don't always need to buy the best
@stark bramble monitor is fine
lao its 1700cad rn
tn is better for gaming'
Eh
rly?
No
i thought ips best
not for gaming
uhm
2k 144hx monitor
whats the difference betweent hat and what i chose
cuz thats 239, one i chose was 179
hello
which one did you choose
its 2060 super good ?
and i have a i5-7500
?
people also dont like that case i read its reviews
i am stickin to mutex on that one cuz it comes with fans as well
What are you gonna use it for? What is your budget
the case do be kinda ugly
and currency
what do you wanna do with it doe and does that 1500 include monitor and perfs
im rn lookin at what the other guy posted
how good are rosewill cases
ye includes monitor and perfs
@little osprey I'd get that ROG board that is $30 less & MP34 500GB
he wants wifi and bluetooth
ye i want wifi and bluetooth
why 2 keyboards and the ryzen 7 isnt needed lmao
just 1 keyboard option
Ah. Gimmie a sec to look around
i have 2 on there just for now
i want it to last 10 yrs
so im fine with the 8 core so i dont have to change it for a while
no pc lasts 10 years
^
at best you can pull maybe 7
ryzen 5 3600 is perfectly fine for long last
but atleast the cpu wont need to be changed
... 8 cores will be obselete in a few years
but thats like praying
@little osprey Cheapest B450 with wifi (even tho I don't like gigabyte, it's $30 less): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/43BTwP/gigabyte-b450-aorus-pro-wifi-rev-10-atx-am4-motherboard-b450-aorus-pro-wifi-rev-10
ye prob will be haha
5 is more where you'd get maybe 6
a100?
wait its out alrdy
a100? ofc
oh lol
it's nvidia competign with themselves to beat quadro
@little osprey it's meant for data centers
not gaming
u did gigabyte 2070
same performance
i am not buying a pc to stare at it lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZTyHCL how is this
ok
the list is almost done its not the best but i just need to put in a better monitor and perfs with the remaining $100
lemme digest all of this
is there like a voice chat here
so i can check these builds and talk
oh towards the bottom
@stark bramble bad mouse, try baslisk x hyperspeed
ill be in general 1
k
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZTyHCL how is this
@stark bramble Better but you can still save $30 on the mobo I linked
yea I can hop into voice chat
Oh no @mellow perch please don’t tell me you bought a thermaltake smart power supply
Wrong ping oops lol
hm
i cant put a link oof
Yeah you gotta be lvl 3
talk talk talk
I'm pretty happy with what I managed to get for $800: ROG GL10DH with a Ryzen 5 3400G, Radeon RX Vega 11, and GeForce GTX 1650.
Sorry to tell you, but you can get a Ryzen 3600 + 1660 super build for $800
I'm tight on money at the moment, so it's what I had to settle with. My old 2014 computer was about to die off as well. (It was an Acer Aspire X with 1TB HDD, Intel i3 4760[?] gen 5, and 6GB of DDR3 RAM.)
@stark bramble Better but you can still save $30 on the mobo I linked
@potent prairie the gigabyte shows the bios warning thingy
Not a biggie, that shows up on pretty much every mobo
Consider the Dark Core Pro mouse if you are cashing out $60 on it. You can get on refurbed on corsair for that much
one of those lists is one i sent him lmao
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KtJwdm this is my build how is it
the one with the 3600 and the corsair perfs lmao
lmao
lmao
@stark bramble sn750 is good, but MP34 is cheaper for eqv specs
$5, but everything adds up
will the 3080ti be out before this time in 2021
@potent prairie i want a cache tho
Mp34 has dram
mp34 has dram cache
tbh i cant wait for the speed of the 3080 but the price will kill me
ah
MP34 defense team @deep skiff lol
it’s basically the law
ngl mp34 is good
😕 I'm tryna make a version of the SSD mastersheet with price checking, but I need access to Amazon's PA API.
Wish I could
I bought a cooler master hyper 212 led but turns out that it is an older one and does not support AM4 socket, can someone give me a link of the adapter in cooler master website?
I couldn't find it
I meant it didn't come with the AM4 adapter
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hmtCmG/cooler-master-cpu-cooler-rr212e20pkr2 this one should be the newer one @river locust
@potent prairie don't forget me
Mp34 gang
Yeah lol, mp34 gang
I mean I have two but that doesn't mean I like em
Mp510 is a drive I have and can reccomend but price point is iffy
Hello There is a sale on these 2 SSDs but idk which one is better is it this one: https://www.microcenter.com/product/508183/inland-professional-1tb-ssd-3d-nand-sata-iii-6gb-s-25-internal-solid-state-drive or is it this one: https://www.microcenter.com/product/513534/crucial-p1-1tb-ssd-3d-qlc-nand-m2-2280-pcie-nvme-30-x4-internal-solid-state-drive
Get it now! Find over 30,000 products at your local Micro Center, including the 1TB SSD 3D NAND SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive
@quasi girder definitely the crucial
not only is it m.2, it’s the cheapest 1tb nvme. plus it’s reliable
Thank you so much @torn valve
@quasi girder no problem. are you making a new build ?
Can anyone recommend a good ITX board for AMD?
...darn it. The 2060 Super I was looking at went OOS.
@torn valve wym?
@cold sorrel get the
@torn valve You might want to connect your CPU heat sink via USB to the mobo so you will be able to control the outer fan led’s and the logo lights.
I just saw a Facebook market place listing for a phenom 2 priced at $250
I got these phanteks neon cable combo set, but then realised it connects to a D rgb header which I don't think i have on mobo. The rgb strip is a 3 pin 5V
Do i need an adapter or a connector for me to connect to my mobo?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ms6KvW What you all think? I need to find a sleeved cable set too.
@jade kestrel you could just get a single stick of sabrent rocket 2tb
bad thing about mp34 is that highest capacity is 1tb per stick
I was thinking about a redundant raid, but I suppose I don't need that with the t-force. derps.
I mean
Raid 1 is very inefficient yaknow
I think cloud backup for important files works
Mostly just game files, but slow internet.
If I only went with 1 tb would you suggest mp34 or rocket?
mp34
both are the same drive under the cover basically
but mp34 is cheaper usually
no sense in paying more for the same thing https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NQZG9G even
ram choice is interesting
what would you suggest? I'm guessing no rgb
Ohh! I just figured I'd go for 64 right up front
@jade kestrel whats the purpose of the pc?
Gaming and looking pretty in my room, ngl
Gaming doesn't even need 32gb today
2x32 is like way overkill
unless you're trying to edit some 4k videos in real time or something
I suppose I can just do one stick in that board
looking to built a gaming computer in a $800 budget, is there anyone here that has done so if so could you give me some pointers
Because an extra $700+
because 2x16gb should be fine
Because I have 2k, I dont have 2.7k
for half a decade or so
I know that
I wish I could just use them memory in my system now. 2x16 but not compatible
why not?
ddr3 😦
oof
this is going to be a huge upgrade for me
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FDqWFG if you could spend 200 extra you could get a 2080ti and 10600k
I doubt it's a gaming build tho
:v or we could wait
She, and I really don't care for intel
Bitcoin's build is much more ideal for gaming
If ya want looks go custom loop
$300 or so for a complete RGB CPU/GPU loop
Could someone help me with a build. My budget is 1500. Wanting to do 1440p gaming. At least 60fps on max settings. No monitor or keyboard ect needed.
having a preference for a certain company is kinda stupid imo
Looking to built a gaming computer in a $800 budget, is there anyone here that has done so if so could you give me some pointers
if i was doing high fps shooters an stuff i'd consider it.
Literally just get the 2080Ti used, or wait till next gen, and you get Bitcoin's build for 2k
And it'd blow that 3900x/2070S out of the water for gaming
not trying to start something, just want other opinions for CPU. 3950x or a CPU from intel - you would choose with 2080 ti (more than likely going for a 3080 ti or 3090 when time comes). This is going to be for server, gaming, coding, streaming, and editing. Or would you suggest the 3950x? it's going to be air cooled with a black nh-d15.
Get a 4900x or whatever AMDs next CPU will be if waiting till next gen
U guys must be smart with computers
didn't hear about that one yet @cursive wharf . I am mainly focused on the decent frequency and total cores for the server and my side of things.
AMD 4000 series CPUs, Zen3, is expected to release this year. Going to have some decent per core perf increase as well as probs a bit extra multi core increase at the same amount of cores. So like for example single core increase is 15% and multi core is 20% (% is examples, no actual perf data released yet)
also slightly worried about price lol
Not going to be too much higher I'd say. AMD is still looked at as the underdog
don't want to bust over the 3k mark for creating my new computer at the end of the year.
nor the 2500 mark lol
$700 CPU+1000 GPU is what I'd expect for the most expensive parts
the 2080 ti alone is about 1,200 lol
I'll wait till I see that lol
long time since I have actually built a desktop
@silk estuary if it's too close to the side panel/window, it can mess with airflow to the card
Right, I figured that part, but besides that is anything really... bad about it?
Can't use any of the other pcie slots on your board @silk estuary
oo shiny
imagine buying golden looking ram and only get to see the rgb on top
I ran an update for windows and restarted my pc, but when I go to log in to windows it loads and then goes back to the login menu. I’ve tried a lot of things and they haven’t worked at all. Do any of you have any suggestions?
so you can't log in?
Anyone know a good gaming laptop for $1000 or under? (Performance over looks)
Nope I type in my password and it says preparing automatic repair, the. Diagnosing your pc
Hey guys! I have a fun problem with my new build. It worked for about 2 weeks 🤷♂️
Bah... can't post links...
aw
Frustrating :/
Post pics through imgur or copy paste directly into discord
Okay. Sorry about that. What about a vid?
Can someone check build pics chat I had a question about a psu connection to my motherboard
That's fine too - I recommend imgur because it'll automatically strip out any of your personal info/metadata and loads very quickly for viewers in an embed
Added regular roles for both of you - repost here please
👍
To clarify - you can post pics in any channel when you have the regular role
@junior current ok yeah modern motherboards use the 24 pin cable for power you would need to get a new motherboard im pretty sure but you some research on your own time if you want.
Did you plug in both cpu fan cables?
Nvm, looks like yes
Looks like it's turning on, then shutting off, maybe from psu over-current protection - i.e. - maybe you have some cable plugged in where it shouldn't be
Hmm, it worked for about 2 weeks though
Then just switched off mid-use. It has been doing this since then.
I checked the CPU heat sink immediately and it wasn't warm to the touch, so hopefully it wasn't a CPU burning out.
Probably not a cabling issue then.
Seems like psu failure, hard to diagnose unless you have extra parts with which to test each component separately.
I'd try clearing the cmos first, then reseating/replugging the gpu/memory etc first
Yeah, I'll give those two components a shot
My money is on the motherboard being faulty though.
So after your suggestion to scrap and restart, here is the build I’m considering:
Ryzen 7 3700X, 5700XT, 32 GB DDR4 3600, WD Black 1 TB NVMe, ROG Strix B550-F
Havent decided between 27” monitor or 34” UWQHD

@cursive wharf gaming
you can probably return it and get a working one
Yeah, I'll be calling them tomorrow for a replacement.
@fathom garden 3700x is a waste, only need 16gb of RAM, mobo is a waste, SSD is pricier then other options, then port all that extra money towards a better GPU
Also best to wait for next gen GPUs/CPUs
R5 3600, 16GB 3600MT/s CL16, decent b450/b550, 1tb EX950, then whatever GPU you can get
for example if current gen
Considered that but most of the reviews I’d seen said if could swing to step up to 7 for multitasking. Also from what I’d seen said the 5700 was a good chip. What do you suggest in place then?
What kinda multitasking do you do, that's the question @fathom garden
And wait next gen for GPU
5700 is good now, not the future
6c12t is enough to do a lot of things
Want to be able to do small amount of editing and cad work occasionally. Any idea when new chips will drop?
Editing works fine off 6c12t
but availability is another story
Yeah my plan was to use the 3600 but thought would step up to 3700 since not much more. Will CPU and GPUs be dropping then?
Maybe, can't predict the future
Just saying expected for both to drop at same time.
GPU prices are expected to drop
CPU we don't know release dates or anything so dunno
Thanks
What is better 1650 or rx 570 oc 8 gb
570, but 1650 super beats 570 and 580
I have a question people are telling me I can run 4k games on a ryzen 5 3600 without a graphics card is it true?

Ok thanks for the info
I think they meant to say a 3600, if the graphics card is good, can run 4k
My friends are telling me a graphics card is useless
Then you are a bad friend karozy :p
sadly tech-illiterate friend is what I don't have many
well, at least I don't let them spread false information 😛
but what about the ryzen 5 with integrated graphics
Integrated graphics is just crappy graphics card
Crappy in the way of like a 5 year old graphics card
Ok I'm just curious its my first build
Just look at UB
Still beaten by a mid end card from 8 years ago
iGPUs are NOT replacements for GPUs, they're placeholders
dont they all do? That or SoC?
@cursive wharf correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it just a custom GPU soldered right on the board and not an iGPU in the conventional way?
so then I guess semi SoC? Or would that still technically be considered an APU?
SoC compared to APU is very fine line
Anyways too lazy to do more research but it's a lot of optimization games have to do to be good on console
I think it's mostly the memory config, isn't it?
Oh right it's an Apu in the sense of sharing system mem
Instead of having dedicated vram
I was more thinking don't SoC have some amount of memory built in
Ok
Thinking about getting the Fractal Meshify C or something very similar to it. But it barely fits a front mounted radiator and a bigger graphics card. Anything similar?
Why front mounted?
Why do you need a 360mm rad?
And how big a GPU are you talking...
A thick rad and fans might interfere with a bit triple fan say windforce OC
But should still fit most of the time
I have 2 cpu cooler fans can the other one be used at all for something else?
Depends on the cpu cooler
Like Noctua NF A15 that comes on the d15 is a weird size to be mounted as a case fan
What if I use the cpu cooler that I bought instead of the wraith stealth fan that came with the ryzen 5 3600?
Hey yall, got some questions
Okay
So recently ive been having problems with my laptop, its always ran great and does what i need it to do like minecraft and warthunder, but lately ive had to lower my graphic settings so low that the games arent really playable anymore. Keep in mind it used to run these games on max settings, anything i can do? So far ive reset it and ive ordered some new thermal paste since both the cpu and gpu share the same heat pipe.
So have you noticed fps differences?
Yes very it used to run 60fps on high in both these games but now im lucky if i get 20 on med and low
What laptop
Asus vivobook i think
Its an early 2019 model
Ive kept up on driver updates mostly becuase of wt, since it likes to crash when the drivers are out of date
Ive kinda considered thinking that maybe the new drivers or the stacks of drivers that have been the problem since ive noticed nvidia isnt the nicest company when it comes to older tech
True
I assumed you've kept up with windows updates?
GeForce experience has an option to rollback drivers iirc
Yep, i dont have it on auto update but i check it every month
but as of now its up to date
So i have like one more thing i wanna try before i go to bed do you think i could use a driver remover app and then instal the new ones to se if that helps or is that a bad idea since its a laptop
DDU you can try it
Idk how laptops work lol i mostly dabble in desktops
Yea.. that what ive kinda noticed but still some grey areas lol
Lol microsoft needs to stop with this edge crap
XD yea
Me: lookes up chrome
Edge: pls no your already browsing on a seach engine
They shoulda bought google when they had the chance
But now they use chromium lol
XD yep
Aight its restarting now
The hopefully i can get it working lol and this doesnt brick my laptop
If you DDU once you restart it'll look weird until you install drivers
Just a warning you didn't break anything if it looks like 720p
Okay
So far so good im installing geforce experience
Do you have a good gpu stress test i could try?
Furmark if you want stress test
But I think you want benchmark
Use userbenchmark
@vale onyx use userbenchmark
eww userbench
Im running it agaim becuase it was using the intel graphics instead of the nividia graphics
why not just use the free version of 3d mark
Hmm it does seem to be getting hot now 🤔 maybe the temp sensors were bugged before i reset it
Its running about 60 idle, is that okay for laptops to me that doesnt sound good
Reason: Bad word usage
Oh sorry mr bot
It just went over 95, (f word cause im sensored here)
Welp at least everything makes sense now 😅
Okay well thanks for the help @stoic island hope you have a great day!
Is it ok if I use a 30-50 dollar cheap apevia 750 watt power supply in an around 1k build
i wouldn't, look for something like an EVGA BR, i think you can pull a 550W for around $60 or so?
What if it’s already in my pc
And I’ve been using it for 4 years
I’m scared it might blow up
it hasn't exploded has it?
Because I plan on getting new house
if it's made it this far, you might get lucky

but i'd still replace it
Ok
take a picture of the wattage label
Thanks
?
Ok
i wanna see the spec
what cpu/gpu are you running?
yeah you can probably run something like a 500W and be fine
dm me
Ok
