For a total of $400, np
F@#$ I dont remember of the top of my head I believe it is an i7
What is the part number?
Yes I said I dont remember
See if you can find it
Hold on...
Don't worry about the socket, just like the 9700k part of it
...ok thanks for the help
if its a lga 1151
i recommend a deepcool gammaxx 400 cpu cooler
nice cooler
for a good price
What's the price on it?
It really depends on what CPU he has exactly
And any plans on overclocking
I dont, I just think it is loud and I want it to be less loud yknow
Probably a Noctua or bequiet then
So cpu cooler and prob a mobo idk
The PC is already built?
Can probably just upgrade the cooler and not worry about the mobo
Is the Omen mobo pretty good?
Omen?
Without knowing what CPU you have, it's going to be know what motherboard will work
@little osprey A decent number of prebuilts use standard ATX
ok
Replace the portrait monitor, bad viewing angles
I’m trying this out for a bit
It looks better when I’m sitting at my chair
Well I’ve been stuck
I couldn't decide
I want a portrait monitor. I really need to just get a vesa mount
I like the vertical setup. More unique
airflow
it’s not solid
it has a grill on the side
air doesn't exactly like being pulled 90 degrees yaknow
i’m sure air doesn’t like being pulled in the first place
saying an nzxt case doesn’t have good airflow is like saying a mask is hard to breathe in
Hell gimme a sec I'll grab numbers
it’s almost exactly the same
when nzxt themselves cracks jokes about their airflow on twitter, you know it's bad
if you just took off the front panel, 15c better thermals
well it’s not like he’s running a monster of a system
he has an rx 580
It's a tradeoff I'm not willing to make
his case has worse thermals
okay
@stoic island ur talking about the elite tho to be fair
elite is the same thing tho
there’s a missing side panel
except with extra fans iirc
so an h500 would be an upgrade
doesn't elite come with 2 fans in the front?
don't have a good pic but they look to be the same
the h510 elite pic is more slanted
looks to be the same holes tho
anyways my point is
if you can buy a case with better airflow
why not
I'll support you all the way if you go Coolermaster H500
that case actually has good airflow with a mesh front panel
or say Coolermaster TD500 mesh
Phanteks P400a
Phanteks P300a
anyways
unless you fill up the ssd id just stick with the ssd
K so as soon as I run out get a hdd
K thx guys 😄
Should i upgrade gpu, cooling from wraith to aio, or my case?
that zone is kinda empty
for 280 you can get a 2060 ko or a used 5600 xt
if you are lucky a 5700 or a 1080 is also possible
those are most of the sub 300 cards
under 200 is 1650 super and rx 580 / 590
1660 super???
i'm an amd guy at heart, but i've been seriously thinking about picking up a 1660 super recently
if i can manage to sell one of these PC's i'm trying to flip, that might be how i reward myself lol
yea thats good
thanks for finding my next gpu
?
@next kestrel thx cause someone gave me this: https://www.microcenter.com/product/617282/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1650-super-windforce-oc-overclocked-dual-fan-4gb-gddr6-pcie-30-graphics-card but it’s out of stock
And I don’t think that’s better than the 1660
1660 super is better
What’s the difference between the gaming and the super?
does anyone have asus as their motherboard?
good setup for competitive gaming and streaming for under 1500$? a little above https://pcpartpicker.com/list/z9CJK4
@little osprey
@bright shale can i message you privately?
@vital warren 😂
sure
@mellow basalt there isn't 2 mice and 2 headsets?
I wasn’t paying attention at all I was just reading the labels
I saw 4 monitors, 1 keyboard, 2 mice, 2 headphones, and the custom ones
So what are those then cause I can’t check rn cause I’m doing something on my Xbox
model o- and 3xl glorious mouse pad, dt990 pros and headphone amps
K gotcha sorry for the misunderstanding lol
nono all good 😄
Pretty cool setup though, you must be a really competitive player
lol that's what i'm shootin for
Sweet
yeah
Yea
if you want it, go for it
I hear its faster than the apex pro tkl
Same speed?
Damn
Would u recommend it i jus have the ibuypower mek3
i mean, when you're picking peripherals, it all really comes down to preference
so, if you like the keyboard, go for it 😄
I heard that the yellow switches have a faster response time
And its 0.2 i think i might get ot
anyone know why my head set isnt detected after bios update
Are optical gateron switches faster than like normal switches
oy vey, i guess i'm gonna be starting ANOTHER build soon, since i just came into a full cpu/ram/mobo combo
and i have some eextra GPU's lying around
just need a case/psu i think
4k Pc perferably AMD
Budget?
4000
4000 USD?
ye
Use case?
need a case
Sorry. What will you be using the PC for?
Gaming Streaming and Editing
How much editing, and will it be at 4k?
Just For Yt vids and no not at 4k
Are you sure you don't want intel?
That'll be the easiest list bob ever makes lol
Ya, at 4k usd, intel is a solid option
i want AMD
Any particular reason?
i never liked Intel for some reason
Fair enough
ive had intel computers before and i just never liked it
3900xt should be good then
How soon do you need the PC?
about 1 month
Uh I just sold a Pc to a SoCal media member of the nba
Oh wow
Would you be able to do two or three? There's a crap ton of super powerful new parts coming out in a bit. Any PC that you build now, no matter how powerful, will be outclassed
Uh about to meet him and he’s about to see a 6-7 10th grader
You should of told him you were interested in scholarship 😉
😂
i can do 2-3 months
Im excited
I would be too
Cool
I'm hoping that with that budget you could get a 4950x with 30[8/9]0ti(s?)
Probably 32GB ram, might as well with editing
Plus a 1TB ssd and maybe a set of 2TB HDDs for storage
what about a 4tb HDD
You could, but two 2TB HDDs will be faster
yeah we can Do the set of 2tb HDD
Cool
Unfortunantly, there's not much I can set in stone at this point, since I don't know what the next gen parts will cost and what they will work well with. I can get a "rough guess" list together though
i can look at it
Do you need wifi?
wym by wifi
3950x
Will you connect to the ethernet with a cable or wirelessly
Build will be after the new parts Mr1
wireless
No option for wired? It's a lot better
i have my router downstairs and i have my gaming room upstairs
alright
idk its how it was setup didnt think it through
Any chance of moving the router?
nope
Fish a 100ft cat5e cable through the ac/heating ducts
TD500 mesh is good
If you pick the nxzt h510, I will have to hurt you
Looks very nice
ya
This gets some noctua brown fans
jk
Do you want a tower cooler, AIO, or custom loop?
Yep just sold it to a Instagram twitter manager for a nba team
hmm
This case has a lot of fan mounts
Damn he was so nice and shocked by my height
u do what ever is best bc im new to this
yea
If you're new, AIO or tower. It's a looks thing
it's like 360mm everywhere iirc
AIO?
All-in-one
All in one. Closed water cool loop
Get a Noctua U12a
yeah AIO
why tho
Because brown noctua in a lian li case looks really good
u12a is eh

Which is better a Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB GDDR5 128 Bit PCI-E or a ASRock Phantom Gaming D Radeon RX 570 DirectX 12 RX570 4G 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready
570
Do you want RGB Officer?
ye

:nitro_corsair_rgb:
I don't think that worked lol
Nope

I can dream cant i
I tried playing a FPS with a controller today. Dunno how people do it
i use both its ez
Aiming with a controller is tricky
Never played with a controller before, keyboard is so much easier for me
aim assist I assume gets your more familiar with using controller
Yeah
i never used aim assist
Aim assist is nice
because that allows you to shoot in their direction while still hitting
until you get used to it
first time i kept hitting headshots
nah i def disabled it
lol
i play WoW Gta
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/m6WX8M
There we go. Even if I did grossly underestimate the prices of the new parts, there's enough budget leftover here for a good monitor and peripherals
why no x570
what's with the weird ram freq+latency?
and what's with the one extra fan?
now that I'm looking at it, o11 doesn't have a rear fan slot
I figured b550 would be fine, and I took my best stab at a zen3 infinity fabric
Fan is a two pack
There's room to bump it to an x570 if need be
not sure, just remembered x570 was supposed to be out of box compatible with 4th gen or smth
prob just imagining things
It's a rough hack list. A lot will depend on the final production specs. b550 and x570 should both work out of box
yea we'll see
If not, it's a gigabyte board
CPU free bios flash ftw
That's a super nice feature in my opnion. I don't see why more companies don't implement it
Gigabyte motherboards you can flash a new bios without cpu, gpu, or ram installed
Yeah
More companies need to do it though
Yeah
I forgot this board has thunderbolt...
Oh well
@wispy matrix If you use this mobo, don't leave your PC unattended in public areas
?
?
Is a joke
its not a NZXT H1 that u can CARRY around in ur backpack and like let me plug this in and chill
Just carry around a half rack every where you go...
"Don't mind me. Never know when you need to whip out some fortnite"
bruh i dont play fortnite
who knows when you need to render something
I think half rack is usually around 16u
imagine having a Bag big enough to carry the 011
alright im gonna drive to my friends house with my 4k dollar PC
You can just buy a bunch of (x)u server, or even atx cases and stack them on shelves like I do (and get made fun of by your nerd friends)
forky just wheel it around
was it called a "mac pro"?
Linus Tech Tips?

The Mac Pro is fast, but for 33 THOUSAND dollars we're pretty sure we can make a PC that is better in every way. Spoiler: we did....
i saw that vid and no
Some other guy
Polecat324fanToday at 9:40 PM
I’m about to buy a $30,000 computer in stead of my car.
There are legit uses for computer that expensive or more. It's just not gaming
Unless you go extreme OC
I was thinking some heavy duty condensors
ah
are wireless keyboards worth it?
you could have them for gaming
Gaming it will hurt you
just light gaming
it's just expensive
i Do not recommend wireless
Mostly, your keyboard isn't gonna move that much so there's no real reason to go wireless
I have a wireless keyboard mouse combo for work, but that's about it
A good enough wireless keyboard is as good as wired in gaming :P
It's more expensive though
Yea
idc aout price tbh
but if you're willing to get more expensive
your choice
if you want to idk type on the toilet
im more interested in a wireless mouse
g pro good
nah im in love with the g502
:P
i use basically all the buttons as macros for editing
Wireless mouse is nice
anyone waiting on the cpu gpu coming out?
?
I'm waiting, but not to buy
the 4th ryzen gen?
Yeah
we're all waiting
@drifting timber there will always be new parts out around the corner that will be better, buy what works now
if you wait for the new cpu and gpu rtx 3000 series, then you're already in January and the 3000 super series will be around the corner
its an endless cycle
Sure
not yearly
and when you're ~2 months off
more like every 6 month cycle
might as well wait
Yearly
ah yeah
how is it 6 month..?
Super doesn't really count
i mean 6 month by like new parts of everything will be coming soon
even super was like 1 year tho
every 6 months or so some new part comes that is much better than the other
Ampere is also a lot bigger than the previous new releases
not as big as maxwell to pascal
def not
bob btw what if i wanted to do without the New Tech btw
plus being an early adopter to new generations always comes with drawbacks
just wait
why arguing over something doesn't even exist
lol
If you wanted without the new tech, go 3950x, 2080ti, 3600MHz ram
I'll make a list >:D
High end it's usually not too bad
it exists but it hasent been released to the public
overkill time
high end isnt buying ryzens or rtxs
High end is tesla
thats ai
No
you mean tesla
That's high end raw compute
a TESLA ISNT A GAMING PC
You are right there officer
we're talking about nvidia
Quadro for the sync connector, 48GB vram, and driver support. Tesla for unlocked FP32/FP64 etc
forgot the new name
Dunno
I'll check
It's still a tesla in my heart though Elon can go ||find a new name||
nvidia tesla is something that you cant really get your hands on unless you work in a datacenter with supercomputers
quadro is basically the highest end that anyone can buy
I'd say same with epyc
imagine a tesla with a built in gaming pc
it's Ampere now
@sand falcon epyc is like quadro, you can get your hands on one if you can pay
Tesla no more
Same with the teslas. If you pay, you get
quadro 8000 is like 5500, tesla v100 was like 10k?
when u have a g613
exactly
tesla is mainly for machine learning
tesla is mainly for HPC, which is to the public center is mostly ML
It's used for a lot of other things
@stoic island https://gyazo.com/dd8bbd722925d1cfa7ec11aa63cede3e
tesla is still shown on the site
ah
Checked prices, a v100 is currently about 7.5k
A bit less than 100k, don't you think?
Yeah, the a100 is just the a100
@sand falcon nobody is going to buy a single nvidia a100 or v100
datacenters will be spending atleast $100k
it's possible
which is why i said $100k
You don't do HPC with a single GPU
We spent 42k for our tesla rig
quadros is more possible with single gpus
Should've bought a DGX ;)
As I said, a bit less
Also, that cost is including CPU, ram, storage, and power delivery
Doesn't the dgx come with that
Yes
We didn't get a DGX though
Those are like OEM builds--overpriced
For the GPUs, we spent 28k
Again, a bit less than 100k
dgx has been out for the past few generations. They've just been kinda lackluster until now
I mean DGX with a100
We got this system a while back though. It's from the p100 era
I dunno. The fuzzy top is weird
its definitely tacky
Also kinda hard to put in a server room or cluster
dunno
Basically the station is for if you only need a single system
$50,000 carpet
whole thing with server rooms is wheeling servers around
not exactly a job for carpet
You usually don't wheel them that much
Eh. the station is kinda weird. It's basically designed specifically for the use cases that we were just saying you wou'dn't use the tesla for
eh
most likely just made for showcase
I mean maybe they mean it for Linus to do 8 gamer 1 CPU?
Give me a fully loaded server rack any day
nah they just made the workstation to be their show pc
nobody would actually buy it
There's probably some people that buy it, but yeah
I'm sure there's some company with them
not datacenters thats for sure
Well yeah
probably rich people who have too much money lol
Those are the types of systems they donate to universities and hospitals
Some company with upper management that saw the pretty advertising though... I can see it
For me, give me the pcie cards any day and let us build our own system around our specs
you'd be lucky to get a response back from them unless youre a datacenter
We're a public university with a one room data center for our engineering department. They sold to us
The average person wouldn't know what Nvidia is
the average gamer
If you have the money, they sell
We're not talking about gaming. We're talking about high end
nobody in high end doesnt use datacenters for ai deep learning
There isn't a easy way to describe the niche we're talking
You'd be surprised
HEDT people
More and more high end has been going serverless
@little osprey wrong, my company hosts all its own servers since were in the financial industry and we take security serious
okay
nobody in high end doesnt use datacenters for ai deep learning
@little osprey Again, not really
Big companies too
well ofc
Serverless is getting really good
however people who are looking to spend this much is likely going to want more than one
such as hollywood studios etc
we host websites in the cloud thats it, everything else is on site
Hollywood is usually more CPU heavy it seems
Also a lot of CPU
also disney's render engine also uses gpu
Also a lot of CPU
There's too much non-deterministic and non-linear to be efficient on pure GPU
Do either of you work for Disney or something similar
my parents work in the movie industry
If not, find them sources
so yes, they do have info as they know some of the effects artists there
They prob have their own proprietary software
they do
Keep that in mind
what are your thoughts on the ASUS ROG B450 F-Gaming? sorry to intrude lol
My sources are: particle simulation and rigging suck on GPU. The sensible thing would be to generate the scene on CPU and then transfer to GPU, going back and fourth between the two
If you want a decent read about how network rendering was done for blender https://arachnoid.com/python/blender_network_render/index.html
Speed up Blender renders using networked machines.
Decent board
thanks. I just felt like the b450 tomahawk wasnt exactly ideal.
With some stipulations for use cases I'm assuming?
Non commercial
Lolol
Where's that guy from earlier that said Linux had to come from 4chan
Need them here now
lol
I'm liking this interface for the cluster render
BTW, I found some guy trying to get a minecraft server distributed over a cluster earlier today
Not like one server per machine. Just one server running across a whole slew of machines
Didn't seem to grasp the idea that it doesn't work that way
over
is somewhat popular for minecraft hosting
That's usually for multiple individual servers and backups
This guy wanted a single server instance running on a bunch of opterons
can someone help me out?
what you need help with
This is a tad random question, but... If one was to get a Mid-Tower ATX case... and get a Micro ATX Mobo to start... would that be doable..? Or should I just say screw it and go for the Mid-Tower ATX Mobo? 😛
...Don`t see myself needing a Full-Tower, is my reasoning 😛
i'd go atx, the micro atx doesnt really have any benefits for an atx case and has less things like m.2 slots, pcie slots, etc
micro atx works in a full tower, but doesn't really utilize the features that a full atx case, so if you go for an atx case might as well get an atx mobo, but if you're set on a micro atx mobo then find a micro atx case
...Understood. 100%. Thank you.
mATX is just ATX except smaller with a few less ports
It works
But you could get more from ATX board
Yeah, I`m just debating which Chipset at this point... Don't see myself needing anything more than 64GB memory.... That's what I have on my current laptop, so I'm keeping it at the moment unless I specifically NEED to get more RAM 😛
Hey guys, I was wondering how do I find out what type of RGB strips I can use with my motherboard
Check what ports are on
Hello
Likely normal 12v rgb
Is this the troubleshooting channel
I do
... Any suggestions on a worthwhile ATX Mobo to add to this? I`m looking to keep it kinda close to 1k, but if needed/more worthwhile, willing to go higher. Not looking for anything crazy, just, yknow, trying to get something thats a good starter setup.
I'm gonna assume it's am4
B550 ds3h
...Will look into that. Looking for 64MB boards, unless 128 ends up being more worthwhile in the long run. 😛
64mb as in what
I`m losing my mind trying to find it, only to realize that's Micro ATX...
64mb as in the RAM supported..?
Bios size?
Meant to say 64gb supported ram..?
???
Lol we're way past 64mb of ram
We're on GBs of ram now
.... That was a "Me at 1 AM" comment.
Is ok
Ds3h is a great board for having a board that works, doesn't need to be fancy or got wifi
Cheap board*
Looking for an ATX board :P
Micro ATX is ok, but I figure if I have a Mid-Tower ATX case, might as well get an ATX board.
It supports 128gb of ram btw
Only the lowest end boards today or itx boards support 64gb
Most support 128gb in 4 slots
Lol
...I worded that right, yes?
I have to be overly cautious since its 1 am and I bork sentences up when its late.
2x32GB works.
Its ok I understand you
I hate to sound like a noob, but might be asking for quite a bit of help adjusting the build 😛 Just trying to optimize the performance for the budget 😛
Ya
...Why I`m thinking way ahead of this, I dunno. 😛 Knowing my luck once I get the money saved, I'm gonna have to RE-work this build again, anyways-
B550 Ds3h imo is a great choice for 1000$ builds
Eh
You'll have to change the build in 2 months or so
New generation of stuff
...Which is why I probably said I'm willing to go a bit over for stability.
Stability? Survivability? Eh. Whatever the word is.
Sustainability?
Who knows
*More-futureproof-ness?
The idea I`m tryna use is "Use a bit more money so I don't have to change the build as often"
Oh well when are you building it?
Figure buying a generation ahead of something, thus saving having to upgrade said piece, just to save some money later, eh?
Because I'd wait to make the final list until the next generation of parts drop
Usually next gen brings better price to performance yaknow
I'm trying to save up for something, but I tend to like to have a concrete idea of what to aim for.
Fair nuff
It helps instead of giving myself a rough estimate, cause 9 times out of 10, my estimated goal is gonna get raised a few times by then.
...Purely because of realizing that norms change 😛
Thing about parts is that usually the parts carry over from one generation to the next, I.E. GTX1060 into RTX2060 targeting the same market
But things can change
Yeah. makes sense. 😛
We'll have to see, we can make a template build now that we can swap out CPU and GPU when next gen comes
^Pretty much my idea 😛
Man, I use this emote too much. I need to stop.
DS3H was the Mobo, right? Just to remember correctly.
Hey, actually, might be a better idea to carry this out in DMs, as to not flood chat, sound nice?
Reason: Duplicated text
Figure I ask before entering DMs, seems common courtesy here.
...Barring the case, seems good. Might swap out the case for a CM case, since I like the cooling capabilities (Breathability?) of their designs.
Pending decisions.
Of course, cases are personal preference as long as they have good airflow
Yeah, thats why I like CM
I personally have a few cases I like due to good airflow and looks
CM TD 500 mesh and H500 no-suffix, Phanteks P400a and maybe P300a with extra fans, and Fractal design Meshify C with extra fans.
Nice you leveled up, you can post links now
OOHHH
But now you can post other links
Understood.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kpnHcq I just added a different case. The decision is, now, do I buy everything at once, or piece by piece... hmmm... Might probably be best to do all at once in case I gotta update something. Answered my own question, nice.
Honestly
If money is tight get it part by part
Also sales appear time to time so there you go
...Get pieces during sales, gotcha 😛
That's what I'm doing currently
All at once
Don't buy part by part
@little osprey @proven sand
If you buy part by part, you run the risk of parts being DoA and you not being in the return window when you realize it is DoA
That is true
DoA?
Dead on arrival
Oof
^^^
Do you have any parts right now you could test with?
If you can validate parts as they come in, buying part by part can save money
Ya
If you can't, you risk a doa
I'm building my own PC than just replacing parts
...All I have is a laptop. And a bunch of old towers...
So I'll do that when I get home
Which depending where you get the parts from can be bad news
It's prob a good idea to buy all at once
And again if you wait a few months new parts are releasing
Well I was wrong for sure
If you consider "Repurposing" a tower temporarily for new parts to test, then yes, I can test as they come in.
...But there is the thing of needing compatible parts...
I'd still wait for new generation just in case even if
...Which probably won't work well.
You could ofc buy storage and prob be able to test it, but whats the fun in that?!
...Dunno. Testing stuff?
Rhetorical answer
Ram you might not be able to test bc old stuff be running DDR3
CPU nah
Mobo nah
GPU maybe
PSU maybe
Assuming you had smth like a optiplex
...I could probably see what the towers in question are running.
Take a quick look if you can
But I still reccomend buying all at once
The market changes, and often for the better
Yeah, cause I dunno the years they were bought.
Theyre technically supposed to-
WAIT.
I`m dumb
I would need a drive first, to test anything...
Can`t very well use a tower with no drive.
I got a question for you though
Lol
oh.
077?
I got a friend that has a better PC
Reason: Bad word usage
...The question is?
Wdym by he can't
Like, he says the game loads and Crashes to desktop
GTA doesn't download, doesn't open, bsod?
Or The Division 2 for example
Like crashes at what point of
Or it's like
Menu?
Mid-game?
Overload I guess
What point of loading does it crash?
Just my experience but I had division 2 and rust crashing because my ram was running funky profile
Not sure to be a 100% honest with you
HP 8433
Yea try telling them to use jedec defaults
Is his motherboard
Hey yall, I currently have a 500gb SSD with my OS & games. I just bought a 1TB SSD that I want to clone, copying my files from 500gb SSD over to 1TB. How would I go about doing that? Its Crucial SSD and they recommend Acronis
The heck
Cause I had similar problems, a game crashed for me, and it was my RAM.
Doesn't macron reflect or whatever it's called have a transfer OS function?
He also bought it from rent a center pre owned so I'm guessing someone obviously did some changing
Lemme go find the software
Basically to sum it up
Macrium reflect
Let's say The Division 2, I can play it on low graphics good FPS
Some ppl were saying cloning the OS partition doesn't work well, but the transfer OS thing works
His, bad FPS
This thing
"General fix for random windows problems
From an admin command prompt or powershell, run:
sfc /scannow
If that doesn't work, try:
dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
Then, try running sfc again.
Repeat as necessary "
Nvdia control panel ya?
He has an Nvidia so I think so
Depends on if he has Nvidia card or AMD card
His motherboard can run the AMD
Also to note, he has 8 RAM and 6.71 is in use
Not really no
OH
OH OH
like the type he has?
Or tell them to run hwinfo64 and take a screenshot?
Kk.
He can run Warframe, roblox
Any other options for the PSU? Sold out of the one listed on PCPartPicker.
Look for Corsair RM650/750 and RM650x/750x
Then MWE gold 650/750
