Why psu is making this weird slight ticking noise
thats honestly the best pic ive ever gotten when asked that question
i think its a psu problem
I do have an S10
when you were using that testing noise the 5v wasnt lighting up
It's like ever so quite though
idk enough about psus to know if that means anything tho
I can try to record it but idk if you will hear it
im deaf so probably not 😛
Are you actually
Sorry for that I didn't know
i have hearing aid in one ear and implant in other
nah you good lol
i can still hear and communicate cause technology is good
but im obsessed with midevil and rennaisance but if i lived in those times id die so quick lmao
thats good
I had two psus one didn't work so I sent it back for replacement
i wouldnt try anymore with that psu. if its making a clicking noise that could be bad
what psu is it
Could it damage something?
Will i need to connect a drive with a SATA cable for it to boot?
My ram still didnt light up so idk
is the fans spinning?
No they aren’t
ok turn it off
@regal granite I feel ya buddy
what turns off
I hope you get yours fixed
The lights on the mobo and the light on the gpu turn off
@sacred obsidian but do you know what confused me?
you have one stick of ram in, correct?
How my tester could make it turn on
Yes in the farthest dimm slot
yeah im confused by that too but at this point im hoping its the psu, if not, i gotta assume its probably cpu 😦
thats the only remaining item
It's not gpu right?
no cause your gpu is removed
Ok good
you wouldnt get video without it, but you would get fan spin
when the new one comes in we will try again with the b450 board andn see what happens
the psu may be fine
but im hoping not cause the cpu is more expensive lol
and the cpu came from ebay, id assume you can rma that psu
ok quavo can you take a pic of your set up and send it to my DM?
That is true
you cant post images yet cause you are not level 3
Yes will do so, gonna run an errand but when i can i will @sacred obsidian
Thanks for your help and thanks for your future help
okay hopefully ill still be available
I hope so
no problem kohlton, any time 🙂
I need help
Ima change my psu
But I dont know if a floppy cable connects the dvd disc
By floppy cable, do you mean a cable for a floppy drive?
No I mean if a pc needs a floppy cable to connect a dvd?
What are you wanting to use the cable for?
No I mean if u need a floppy cable for a pc
Because I'm changing the psu of my oc
Pc
To a new one
But some pcs need a floppy cable
And I dont know if a floppy cable connects a psu
To the dvd
Disc
Get pic of SATA cable @sand falcon
Am mobile rn so I won't
Yes
That connects to my dvd
But I dont know if my case already includes that xable
Or the psu needs to have it
That goes from DVD drive to motherboard
Ok
There is another one like that but longer, that goes from PSU to DVD drive. So you have two cables on the DVD drive. One is from motherboard and one is from PSU
About 2x longer then the one posted above. Width and depth is the same size. Looks the same, just longer
I have new pc parts coming in Thursday and it’s going to be my first pc I’m building could I do a call with someone for help and pay you like 10-15 bucks
Idk just like send someone some Venmo or something to help me build my new pc
I haven’t built one and don’t wanna mess up
Just watch a build guide by like techsource or smth and do it for free
It’s a 3700x 5700xt 32gb ddr4 4000mhz 2tb hdd 750 watt psu and a thermal take case
Yeah when I watch those it’s not exactly what I want to do
I ordered like custom cables and went all out
Are they full length cables or extensions?
Just plug the original cables Into them, it'll make your cable Management difficult but it's pretty simple
Ah thanks
G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (for AMD Ryzen) Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) RGB SDRAM DDR4 3600 Desktop Memory
That’s the ram I got
It should be fine for a 3700x
Thanks
I also got a thermaltake rgb powersupply for cheap
On offerup
80 bucks factory sealed
What's it rated
Cool

Reason: Duplicated text
Well that is freaking annoying, was trying to link a few mods I was thinking of buying, guess multiple links to the same site = bad
So I guess we will have to talk about these one at a time :p Thinking this gpu backplate is sweet https://www.coldzero.eu/rgb-gpu-backplate-stormtrooper-v1
Very nice
Wish he had a pic of it lit on the site like some of the others but I'm sure it will be sweet
Then bc my heatkiller block makes my gpu sag a tiny bit was looking at support brackets and of course he has custom ones so https://www.coldzero.eu/custom-gpu-support-bracket-atat
And then I'm torn, I really want https://www.coldzero.eu/radiator-cover-ryzen customized with Threadripper added under it OR get it custom with the imperial cog on it....
I'm going to have to keep on eye on this site for my build.
Yeah I found it two days ago and have been trying to hold off but being so bored I want to tinker.
Looking for a cheap modem/gateway
If it's a gateway it needs 5g wifi
MOT0ROLA Surfboard Docsis 3.0 SBG6580 Cable Modem/Wi-Fi N300 2.4Ghz + N300 5GHz Dual Band Router (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088F5YQK8/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_u-87EbNXZDX80
Found this, but wasn't sure if there was better or not
I don't need anything fancy as I have an Asus AC-5300 and most of the time I'll be using Ethernet
anyone got a inexpensive PC that has good air flow?
workin on a parts list and not sure what case to get on a 1500 USD bugget for everything
@zealous mantle look into cooler master or the meshifys
Personally I like the challenger s from rosewill
But that's just me
Rosewill's quality is so low it's a joke.
I know that
Some Rosewill isn't bad
It was one of the few mid sized that had fans that weren't sold out when I last looked it up
That and the size turned out to be convenient
usb wifi adaptors are really bad. if you gotta use wifi you should get a pcie one
Ive been using the Cullinan MX from Rosewill for a while, and so far it's been pretty good. Heavy though
the on board wifi doesnt work?
ok
And I needed a low profile one too so...
does your modem currently only output 5ghz?
It's 2.4/5 but Im using GeForce Now and it requires 5g/Ethernet and as I can't use Ethernet in my room.....
alright well gl. hope it works for you
It was either that or get a $40 modem and hook it up to the outlet and then the router. And we don't even know if the outlet works or not.
usually the service provider only puts it in one port now so that if you wanna change rooms you have to pay them to come out and move it for you
My house has two ports
i mean like the make it only work in one of the ports
On in the living room and one in my bedroom(for some reason not the master bedroom)
Ahh
what kind of port is it?
Yeah, well the previous owners referbished the house very cheaply and badly. So we don't know if it even works.
oof
guys is 550W enough for a GTX 1080TI and a Ryzen 5 1600? Also, will a Ryzen 5 1600 bottleneck the 1080ti
Yes, no
You could go 5 3600/1080ti/550w and still be fine
@sacred obsidian want to see how bad they wired the house? I'll send it in dms if you want
sure
550 watt is enough but just ot be safe and to future proof better id get a 600 or 650 if you can afford it
just set the graphics higher
it should be fine yeah.
Can't wait for the receiver
Build NUC or upgrade iMac with SSD? What choices are there for a 1TB SSD to replace HDD in 2012 iMac? Or best to move to NUC, not doing musch video or photographic editing.
I was looking at the 10th generation, but many choices for SSD, M.2, SATA, and others. Your choice? Anyone used the NUC 10 BXNUC10I7FNH1? I would guess dual channel memory (same in both slots) and M.2 SSD, but whose for speed and reliability?
Anyone have an idea for a pc about 400usd? Gaming used or new. I just want a ballpark of specs I should be looking at
Ping me if so, ima disappear for a few
@warm charm what power supply do you have in that build
@sullen spoke you can easily get a Ryzen 1600 plus an RX 580 or something around those specs for $400 used
Or Ghost, you could get some parts new and others used
@fast dust raidmax 700w. I have a thermaltake 600 watt as well but i didn't think it would push the whole system
ye that sounds good
@warm charm what exact model? I know Raidmax makes some okay PSUs but the have a reputation for being pretty bad
if u get all new a ryzen 3200g system also works
But that’s nothing compared to a used RX 480 build for gaming
yo, I got a b450 asus tuf atx, pretty sure it doesn't have an argb header but I got fans that use it, how would I go about getting the rgb on it to work, I don't have the board yet
I'm sure you can buy headers
What do you guys think of linear switches for a mechanical keyboard vs tactile?
depends on your preferences, you'd really have to go to a store to see what kind you prefer
Personal preference
I'd go for tactile switches just because I like how they feel as you type
80% of people I'd say like tactile (Cherry mx brown/Gateron brown)
Ooo, I love my brown switches
Yea
Anyone know of laptop with mech switches lol
Very few people actually dislike browns and the such, sometimes they need complete silence or smth
No idea, I know they exist tho
razer laptops use theyre fancy ones
mmhm
the giant acer predator
I probably wouldn't buy one w/o a great deal but it would be cool
that got beaten hard by the g14
I've been thinking about getting a scar iii
Yeah, laptops are ok
with like full height keycaps
except for butterfly switches
Heh, yeah

eck apple
i touched one and i never wanted to touch it again
Woah
yeah, that's the one
That's pretty cool
love the dual screen on it
Nintendo 3DS lookin
Asus
Well I'm going to have them in a mid sized tower
Was thinking of going matx since they tend to be cheaper and more available rn
Atx would fit in a mid tower
Generally speaking yes but between the two that you showed I would go for the Asus. Personal preference tho
at least 1?
That's really it
I only have one m2 drive so yeah
If there's more that's fine, but I'd prefer 1
I think the mortar max is overpriced rn tho
Average price as it's oos rn?
oh, right
It's OOS

Was thinking of the gigabyte d3sh b450
Wait it’s used
ASUS TUf Gaming, MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
$190 for used? Yeah overpriced
Yep
overpriced
Price difference for Asus tuf and Asus prime is $45
right, the prices
Gigabyte gaming X?
I'm trying to spend at most $140/150
All I need on it is 1 m2 and a pcie slot for my gpu
tomahawk max
what's your cpu?
if it's r5 and lower, can consider any b450 from gbt
yeesh
WAY out of my price range
prices shot up
now's not a good time for mobos man
I'm going ryzen 5 3600 and a 570 GPU
nice cpu
I have all the parts just need mobo
you can get away with tuf board
don't worry
unless you want to upgrade, asus tuf will do
I mean if I'm going to upgrade, might as well go this:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RD97YJ/asrock-b450m-hdv-r40-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-hdv-r40
$100
why buy that cheap board with upgrade in mind

I meant upgrade motherboard
doesn't make any sense
not upgrade friendly
yeah, no one does that
I'm not planning to upgrade CPU for a while
not normally, at least
jumping from 100 usd board to a 400 usd one will only give you more features
Well these aren't normal times
nearly zero performance gain
And since most of the good mobos are either out of stock or being price gouged, I can go cheap now and wait
MSI B450M Gaming Plus?
Yep
oh, hey!
Huh, didn't see it
look at that!
@tepid basalt I'm not seeing it
that's a good mobo
F
@jagged ember tomahawk max oos
Hecc
everything is OOS man
lol
imagine trying to build a new pc right now
best buy? more like best bye lmao
B450-f shows as in stock but is OOS :(
lol
sucks to be in the US rn
B550 might actually be your best bet
yeah, shipping pc parts to US is hard
US is poggers
Sucks to be on earth rn
Because pre-order
yeah
Tomahawk max right there
B550 maybe
Lol US has the best market for PC builders
cheapest B550 is still more than his 120 max budget
ooooff
Lol US has the best market for PC builders
@stoic island sure, just not now
cheapest b550 is like 80
For some reason mine was selected to Amazon and memoryC only as sellers
perfect
WHAT DO YOU MEAN
but its oos probably
Not rn with the situation @stoic island
B550 Aorus elite 110$
WHAT DO YOU MEAN
YOURE AT SOUP
Asrocks B550 is 79
Not really out of budget range
mm
:p
local store in vietnam
Also i need help, doing my first build rn and the mobo i have is lighting up but the ram wont
Gj sassy
Also my case fans aren’t lighting up or spinning
Boot or no boot
So the msi?
No boot
Literally was just told it was good
Who said that
reseat connections
I have triple checked everything
And it's rated 5 stars?
Tomahawk max is a decent board, not really at the price
good bios
Ahh
but only if you can buy it at below 120
mmhm
All it has is VRMs
What about the b550 aorus?
it used to
Ummm max is $114?
Click on it
Besides the connections is there anything else to check?
Ive tried multiple time and nothing
My best buy is in stock
the code execution cannot proceed because vcruntime140.dll was not found
any one know how to fix this error
It is blank
For stock
You should just disable best buy in your pcpp preference lil
Lol
i got all my parts at newegg
newegg beast
I got case fans from Amazon tho
Only thing i got used was a case
Bc p12 wasn't in stock on Newegg
P12 good
@stoic island i gotta ?
I reccomend
the code execution cannot proceed because vcruntime140.dll was not found, is there a fix for this error
@little osprey isnt that psu kinda overkill?
you have to install the dll file then, no?
i did and it still didnt work
i went to youtube first and looked up a video not much help
Cl18 is regrettable
That PSU might be regrettable
I think raidmax cobra is one of the bad units
Raidmax only makes a few meh PSUs and the rest trash
Oh wait forgot to mention, ram is a place holder
I have 2x8gb ddr4 3200 cl16 ram
raidmax is no bueno
lol i also have that ram
It's xpg brand
Ripjaws
Xpg fine
i could have gone higher
I didn't buy it 🤷♂️
i just like ripjaws lol
Also, you can ignore the wifi adapter too
Bought one today
Got it for my laptop
@little osprey https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GDWNmg
I already have everything@regal granite
Lol
The only thing I don't have is mobo
And the wifi adapter, but that'll be here in 4 days
I'll wish you luck with that PSU lol
Smh that psu is something alright
Raidmax isn't exactly known for good PSUs
I would do Ethernet, but can't get an Ethernet cord to my room
@stoic island is there a reason my ram isnt lighting up
Power
I checked all connections and power is fine
Usually all the lighting is independent of like if it boots or not
It'll light up either way if it has power
So eh
It aint lighting up or booting 😭
Also best buy again
oh yeah, this was just kinda a list
@regal granite no lights no fans go check psu
of parts that exist
Before Corona, I never had issues with Best Buy
Ofc
and how for 900 u get a spicy system
I'm only reccomending getting rid of best buy for Corona
yeah
Psu is brand new and the mobo and gpu light up so its not power @stoic island
As far as im aware
Okay thanks
Since ram and fan get power from mobo
What’s broken @little osprey
It won't broadcast wifi@slender owl
I can connect to the access points, but no wifi
Tried unplugging I assume?
I did
I used a different cord too
I also factory reset it
Both manually and thru the router control page
I believe Ethernet works
Maybe check if Ethernet works. Do you have an Ethernet cord?
I just said Ethernet does work
Oh wait no wifi you might need to set it up if you can connect
Look at the manual
You should be able to access it
I got it in October, used it properly for a few months, then it just stopped broadcasting one day
I changed cords, modems, and used a different wall socket for the different modems
The modems work
The router doesnt
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/khFzcq thoughts?
No GPU?
@slender owl the router is an Asus AC5300
@potent prairie no
Alright, well looks good besides that. Work PC or something?
Well I'm just confused as to why you would plan to get a PC for gaming with no GPU
Do you have one already or something
Its just for waiting till next gen
Or should I just go back to xbox until
Does the router have the on led on?
Yes
It's on, I could connect to the Ethernet earlier, but no wifi
Unfortunately it's in my room rn and I have no modem to connect to in my room so no Ethernet nor wifi
Though if I don't/cant fix it it's fine
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/966569/Asus-Rt-Ac3200.html?page=106#manual
If you don’t have the manual I’d use this for the trouble shooting pages. Other wise I don’t know what wrong.
Ah well, was hoping I could fix it and gift it to my parents, but oh well
hey sal
did you type the correct password?
sometimes its really simple
you want to start simple, make sure the connections are properly connected, lights are blinking etc
check hardware before software
@tepid basalt it's overrated, i meant to change my avatar just havent got the chance to do so, it has better graphics but other than that pretty much the same as 1st one, game should be worth like $20 if not $10 at best lol
really?
damn
and people keep praising it like hell
"worth 10 years of waiting" smh
its a 'remaster' more than anything, but its in "early access" so maybe things could be improve later on..
can you tell me again what's the problem, you said you cant connect to wifi like what do you mean
can you see the ssid and cant connect to it, or you really cant see the ssid?
I can see it and connect to it, there's just no internet
is the ethernet properly connected to the router ?
if you can see it and connect but no internet it just means the data is not transferring to the router
cause you can literally turn on a router not connected to ANYTHING (like a modem) and have it broadcast and even wifi-connect to it
but if ther'es no ethernet connected to it then it wont send out internet
hey just a quick question i just built my pc around early june and i’m just wondering how often do i have to clean the inside of my pc
does it have a window glass on the side? usually eye balling it would be enough to tell if it needs cleaning, other than that every year. if you live in a dusty room, best check that glass window if your case comes with it if you see a little dirt every 6 months, it really depends on how much dust you have in your room
and that's just assuming you have filter if no filter maybe every 3-4 months
On another note, in about a month I'll be giving my grandmother my laptop and I want to give her a better hard drive then the stock HDD
Crucial MX500 2.5" 500GB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT500MX500SSD1 https://www.newegg.com/product/N82E16820156173
Thought about this
500gb with a 512mb cache
It'll mostly be a work/Facebook gaming laptop
its a huge improvement going from hdd to ssd, your granma will thank you for it
Thought about getting an nvme but that's a bit overkill
Well I set aside the HDD for when I take the current ssds out to put in my desktop
personally, i dont see any difference with nvme vs ssd, both are snappy
I have it setup and everything
I could just do a file transfer
Well again, she's going to use it for work and Facebook gaming.
Does she really need an nvme?
Thought about a base 860 Evo too
ah yeah file transfer there will be a difference but as far as opening files and reading files i dont notice difference
So mx500 or base 860
that'll be up to you which one you want to get her
but coming from hdd is already a huge improvement
Ik I used to use the HDD before I got the 970 plus
And then I also got a sshd(didn't have enough for a 1 tb ssd)
What's the difference between mx500 and 860?
nvme usually runs hotter than sata ssd
that's what i've notice
as far as loading windows, both takes about less than 4 seconds
So 860 has faster write, mx500 has faster read
10 MBps difference each
I'll do her the mx500
yeah sata ssd usually runs cooler than m.2 ssd
nvme is like 5x to 6x the speed of sata/m.2 ssd
m.2 and nvme's are fragile they run really hot, there's a thing called heat throttle where the ssd slow down when it becomes too hot, that's why they putting heatsink on them nowadays
Oh ik nvme runs hotter
I can feel my nvme thru my laptop case
But I chose a 1tb mx500 sata ssd
Figured that'd be more than enough
And it has a 1gb cache too
For $125 figured that'd be a nice little gift
yep
personally i find samsung sata ssd to be well built, it runs cooler than other sata ssd i've used, like samsung 840 pro never goes above 34'c while others like adata and wester digital reach around 39'c
Yeh well Samsung was $30 more atleast
$114 vs $140
And that's while on sale, $60 off sale
😂😂😂😂😂
hey its already ssd way better than slow hdd lol
Amazon is advertising the 870 as having a 78 gb per second transfer rate
That's what I'm laughing at
lol
Almost worth that $140 if it has a 78 gb transfer speed
HOLY COW
Even Newegg is advertising that speed
lol
For two different sellers?
sata 2 is 3 gigabit, sata 3 is 6 gigabit
that's why sata 3 is sometime refer as sata 6 (because sata 2 is already 3 gigabit it would be confusing)
6 gigabit is like 500 MegaByte per sec
Ahh
yep
Someone should report that
hello, i need help w building a desktop
i already have a gpu, and storage
i also have memory but its ddr3
and the biggest issue im having is that i need to buy the rest of my desktop for under max 300 usd :/
What gpu?
p4000 quadro
S#ame
why
nono is cuz my dad had a server desktop thing
you need a psu, a mobo, a cpu and probably peripherals for under 300
but all the hardware is outdated
oh okay its all for free?
yeesh
ikr lol
you don't want that paired with a quadro
that's interesting, though
see if you can scrounge for better parts
ye thats the problem cuz i cant seem to find any good parts for good prices
mmhm
i was thinking 2nd hand
corona, man
ikr
used is a good option for budget
arent used cpus bad?
depends on how it was used before
if it was OCed really heavily, yeah
or if the pins were bent lol
and ram if ddr3 is bad
mm
nah, just put it on a testbench setup
or integrate it into furniture or someting
always wanted to try that
like linus' desk pc
wouldnt it collect dust though?
ah i c
speaking of, i need some of that compressed air
im getting dusty in my pc
what do u wanna do with pc
i was thinking running simulations and games
but apparently p4000 arent good at gaming so probs j simulations
mm
o my budget is 400 not 300 (i messed up the conversion) :/ (is still pretty hard tho)
yeye
nice!
that's more money for parts
only sad part is, my cpu is really expensive
it's like half your budget the last time i checked
its a good cpu, but damn is it expensive now
o i c
yeye
unless ddr3 is good enough but i doubt that :/
also does newegg ship during corona?
o
wait whats the difference between h, b and z
Hey guys,
I was on the channel a couple of weeks ago with a build problem that was driving me crazy. Everything was turning on but there simply was no display on the screen. I had double checked connections, hardware compatibility, etc.- and it ended up being that the CMOS battery on my new motherboard was bad. lol
Just wanted to say thanks for the help and share in case anyone that comes on here happens to run into a similar issue.
Anyone else wanna help check if they can get better parts for this? just needs cpu mobo, memory and psu for 400 bucks running simulations
What sort of simulations?
@jaunty cypress
he's got a used p4000 quadro for free
like damn i wish i had that
This seems to be a pretty solid card
he needs the rest of the stuff in the build i listed
bet you can find more suited parts than i did
I'm thinking more ram could be in order
ah okay
400 bucks?
Is the 3600 oos?
o i realized the prices were different in countries
You in australia?
japan
ooh
bru
eh the cpu was more expensive in jpn than america
How much japanese currency do you have available?
Okay, I'll see if what I can do with japanese stocks
o thx!
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mQL6zN
Here's what I got from the US lists. $336USD
o wait how do i calculate the wattage?
Apparently there is no Japanese pcpp 😦
p4000 will take ~150W, 1600 will take ~100W
is it bad to give it extra power?
Nope
no, more headroom is a good thing
cuz i found a deal on amazon with a mobo and psu like a bundle
@jagged ember The mobo and psu aren't the best out there, but it's a decent psu, and mobo doesn't really matter as long as it's decent
Okay, got it
For low end systems at least
If you're doing something like 10900 or 3950 you'll want to be careful about the mobo
@jaunty cypress I checked the link, the mobo and psu I have on the list end up being cheaper
o ye
o its also on japanese amazon
quick question, is it possible to get an AM4 with a ddr3? (ik ddr3 is slower than ddr4)
never seen it before
@sand falcon that has no video output?
What does
the 1600
He has a GPU
I see
planning on building this anything u would recommend changing?
rly don't wanna go over £600
I don't know UK stocks, but I would advise going for an MP34 256GB. A little more expensive, but nvme and much better speeds
Only if it fits in the budget of course
This would be a better choice for sata: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/4mkj4D/crucial-mx500-250gb-25-solid-state-drive-ct250mx500ssd1
This may be a option than the mp34 in the uk, cheaper and faster, though 16 gb less storage (again if you have the budget): https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/fmhKHx/corsair-mp510-240gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-cssd-f240gbmp510
how much faster would the fist one b
the 2nd is way out of my budget
also i'm not to bothered unless it's like -5 seconds
R/W: 520/500 vs 550/510 for a lower price
in MB/s
So not a lot, but if it's cheaper, why not
but it's not cheaper?
Just go for the cheaper one then I guess
This would be a better choice for sata: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/4mkj4D/crucial-mx500-250gb-25-solid-state-drive-ct250mx500ssd1
@potent prairie this one?
Whatever, the one you picked isn't bad.
he picked it lol
🙂
I have a cheap 1tb hhd and tbh it's not bad at all
the only time I rly notice it is in siege
but that normally loads instantly anyway
Then you'll have a pleasant upgrade. NVMe is nice, but a sata ssd isn't that much worse
and the rest of the system lol
rn I have a 3rd gen i5 with a 1050ti
and 1333mhz ddr 3 ram
in a dell case
HHD-->Sata SSD is a way bigger improvement than Sata SSD-->NVME SSD
and the only fan goes through a tunnel thing onto the radiator for the cpu
ok good
I wonder why they would put a big metal radiator instead of a normall cpu fan
normal*
My mobo lights up but the ram i have doesn’t, the case fans and the spu cooler wont turn on. I need help cause the system wont boot
*cpu cooler
@alpine sparrow @slender owl router is working now, I don't know what I did
Lol well good it’s working now
Yep Ethernet works, 2.4 works, 5G-1(regular 5g) works 5G-2(gaming connection) works
Phone and laptop are connected
Only issue, I have to keep it in the living room, but I want it in my room
Run a very long Ethernet cord?
Anyone know if cablemod RMi / RMx / RM (Black Label) cables would work on an HXi PSU?
wonder if you can find a pin out of those PSUs online somewhere
Perhaps. I might just buy them new anyways. I don't suppose anyone has a coupon code for that
@fallen atlas thnx for the heads up, will keep that in mind for future reference.
@little osprey lol nice
@fiery cosmos
Looks like the front has limited airflow. But probably better than my rig configured as it is
Okay serious question: do ram sticks work like CPU’s ?
Like you can’t put a 10th gen cpu in a 9th gen motherboard right.
So for ram sticks can you put a ddr5 one in a motherboard that was built during ddr4?
that's correct. the pinout/sockets are different on each generation
for ram specifically, CPU sockets are different
I got trolled hard in general chat ...
AMD has been using the AM4 socket for multiple generations of Ryzen processors
How can you check what pinout your mobo has, I still got mine in box waiting to be built once everything else comes in
but the FX line before that, completely different architecture and it used a different socket as well
It should say on the back of the box what processors it supports and what socket it uses
general chat is just where everyone lets loose, so don't take it personally, it happens to everyone lol
Welp
Ddr4 is set
Plz tell me they’d take back a brand new board if I wanted to get the next gen 😭
I got it like during Christmas and it’s been sitting in my room bro 🥺
DDR5 is not on the horizon anytime soon, so i wouldn't worry
Damn
they aren't expecting to use DDR4 until Zen 3+/Zen 4
@potent prairie see I thought the same thing but the cutouts on the side actually give it ample airflow and man these fans are freaking huge
Ampere cards should be august or September ish
Huh, fair enough 🙂
Intel might go DDR5 in 2021, but it's all rumor/early documentation leaks
But DDR4 support will still be around for a long time
and will be the standard for a while
Whatever ram sticks are just a few bucks
Quick question, I have an MSI X470 Gaming Plus MAX / Gigabyte 2070 Super OC going into a iCUE 220T Airflow Mid-Tower, PC Part picker says estimated power 409W, would a 650w PSU be safe?
Yeah, that should be a solid choice, even with Ryzen 9
idk if the pcpp wattage calculation is calculating base draw or peak draw, but there are PSU wattage calculators out there that will also try and estimate peak draw as well, which can help when trying to decide on appropriate PSU purchases
pcpp goes by TDP. Which kinda works
Doesnt work for Intel CPUs or GPUs too well tho
Hey guys, so my listen cousin just hopped on the "I want to get a PC to play Fortnite better" bus. So I spoke with my aunt and she said 1,000USD. So I made a build including The mouse he wants and the Keyboard I'm buying to him as a gift.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xsLWRk I made this but I'm no expert
@slender owl with multiple dogs that have no situational awareness and freak out of thier feet get caught up in something?
Yeah...no
Lol guess not then
I mean I could tape it to the ceiling, but I'm not sure my parents would like that
And a cord that long wouldn't be cheap
He has a monitor @wispy wagon
Think it's a TN 1920x1080 120 or 144hz I can't remember
Is it me or is every PSU sold out... even in the shops
Every PSU is sold out or overpriced xD
supply shortage still in effect
it sounds like more shipments were starting to make it out, but human malware started to make a comeback
so some factories shut down again
so there was a brief window where some stuff came back, but didn't last lonng
Hi 🙂
Were a bigger sized business, so whatever the cost that is fair
Oh so it's for a business?
Ahh ok
The wifi points will connect to a switch that will connect to our router that will obv connect to the modem
So need a router that can handle all that
50-80 people connected
we have 1gigbit speed
Well personally I have an Asus AC5300, it's one of the top tier routers. But it's made for gaming
YeahYeah need something for business
NETGEAR 5-Port 10-Gigabit / Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch with 1 SFP+ ports, Desktop and Rackmount (XS505M) https://www.newegg.com/product/9SIA6ZP6E92381
Will something like this work?
@ember relic
This is a switch?
LINKSYS LRT224 Business Dual WAN Gigabit VPN Router https://www.newegg.com/product/9SIAAY9BA13248
Non-switch, and has built in von protection
How do y'all like ma video filter??
Tis what I get after using this new DisplayPort to HDMI cable advertised as supporting 4K at 60Hz
Anything below 60Hz I get what you see in the gif
At 60Hz I get intermittent blackouts "no signal" + cracking/popping noises from the TV
Have you guys ever encountered anything like that?
- tried 2 out of 3 useable HDMI TV ports, unplugged, plugged back in
- rebooted
- updated to latest NVIDIA driver
None helped
It looks like a potato was used
I really hope that's the case and not software related
Try a different cable?
try different cable, port, monitor, GPU (iGPU?)
Is the GIGABYTE b550 good and can it overclock
Try a different cable?
@silk estuary it's the only DP to HDMI cable I have
my old HDMI to HDMI works fine in 30hz tho, and mostly ok on 60Hz, with some random horizontal lines flashing once in a while
What HDMI version is on the monitor?
try different cable, port, monitor, GPU (iGPU?)
@cursive wharf I only got 1 GPU hah
the other monitor is a 1080p TV
I tried 2 out of 4K@60Hz ports
I'll send you the whole spec
@wispy wagon all you need to worry about is what the mobo requires when it comes to ram stick, its cross compatible between intel mobo and amd mobo
Tis my setup @cursive wharf

GeForce Game Ready Driver - WHQL
Driver Version: 446.14 - Release Date: Wed May 27, 2020
TV1 as main monitor for productivity 4K 60hz:
https://www.sceptre.com/TV/4K-UHD-TV/U435CV-UMC-43-4K-UHD-TV-product933category1category73.html
GPU's DP --> TV's HDMI (tried 2/3 4K@60Hz ports. The 3rd is a bit too inaccessible atm I'll try later) with this cable:
https://www.amazon.com/Onvian-DisplayPort-Braided-Gold-Plated-Unidirectional/dp/B07PWCNFW7
TV2 as extended monitor for media/gaming 1080p 60Hz:

GPU's HDMI --> TV's HDMI with a "High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet"
(HDMI.org claims it's only for up to 4K 30Hz, but it actually works at 60Hz for me, with some intermittent artifacts/horizontal lines flashing
but mostly useable)
With the U435CV-UMC, take in the scenery as 8 million pixels illuminate a world of endless color and stunning detail.
based on their specs sheets technically all requirements for 4K@60Hz are met
@copper mason you have it set up properly in the options like consistent settings?, like 60 hz on the nvidia options
ya I went to NVIDIA control panel and set refresh rate at 60Hz there
I didn't use port 4
that one is marked clearly as 30Hz only
I tried port 1 and 2
gonna try 3 later
1 and 2 are on the sides, 3 at the back
hey dumbo, you mention tv1 and tv2, try using only one display see if it removes the stutter, i think what happens was you have many display, the gpu cant keep up
actually wait. GPU already has HDMI 2.0
ya the problem with that EVGA 1660Super is it only has 1 HDMI port 🙃
then do DP to HDMI on tv2
to the converter for the ethernet thing
not more than 10ft for passive cables
to the converter for the ethernet thing
@cursive wharf I'm using that cable with TV2, since it's prob 50ft long
TV1 uses DP->HDMI
ye, do DP to HDMI>HDMI to ethernet to HDMI on tv2 as tv2 is 1080p so bandwidth isnt as high
