its for a second monitor, right?
Yes
There are some new monitors for like 80$ that are 1080p 60hz
it will be good enough
example of something in my area
that's spicy
Reason: Bad word usage
Oh crap
Crap indeed
-sniffs- something stinks in here
45 67 420
ok
also someone said earlier but i don’t feel like scrolling that far, rx 5600xt or gtx 2060
5600xt
For pure gaming
2060 has better features for streaming and such but less performance
and now to reset the workshop and build some more stuff
whoa, what is that you're using
PC Building Sim
I want to play with virtual parts
Steam or G2A has it
DLC isn
isn't super worth it
NZXT Workshop is nice though
it has shelves for storing unused towers
yeah
does it?
ohhhh
Only problem ... I DESPISE NZXT
Y?
Me too
I haven't played in awhile.
Bad airflow
They make good stuff
At least their value with their prebuilts are decent
Put it this way. I had a nice long talk with the CEO one day about how horrible the CS and cheap electronic parts were.
That's the only redeeming factor
That was after 3 years of replacing the original 2 year warranted parts.
Right after that, all the phantom cases were discontinued.
What would be a fair price for this build?
And mine still has a bad control panel in it.
What
Anything that isn't shipped directly from manufacturer I call used :p
I'd put a price tag of around 800$ on that still
Ok I'll ask him for the mobo psu and cooler
try to get brands and model on everything really
they added a HyperX Quadcast
I'm gonna make a guess it's a BR600
Because there arnt many 600w power supplies
nd that's the only real decent one
If it's anything else there's a high likelihood it's bad
any ideas for a next build?
@stoic island ok I just asked him
@mortal void try custom loop
aw heck nah
Tubing was finicky when I played with it last
I wanna go to bed soon
Like things just wouldn't be straight
No sleeping!
Custom loop = bad for sleep
And I got mad at it
Do they have corsair and gigabyte stuff in the builder?
what brand of rx 5600xt should i get
@little osprey
Did you forget I've been up since 12pm yesterday?
oh heck I forgot I owned that game
@mortal void yes
@little osprey depends, MSI 5600xt has bad cooling
True
It's cheap but bad yaknow
as long as it fits in my micro atx case
@mortal void I mean u can go to sleep if you want I was just joking
and isn’t bad
Yes
Lol
so gigabyte
@mortal void I mean u can go to sleep if you want I was just joking
@little osprey
I will after one more build
Gigabyte usually good
I'm gonna do a build in the GamerStorm Quadstellar Electro
And built my own
Giga is also really good about taking care of things if something does go wrong.
It had this trash MSI card that managed to fight my AC unit
oh boy this is a bad idea
Yea MSI ventus oc is pretty bad
ok nah this too much
@stoic island yep that's the one a ventus oc
Doesn't ever go over like 70c
MSI started as an intro level company so the low end stuff ... -pokes with stick-
It was so hot
Everything else is good afaik on the Nvidia side
Corsair Graphite 380T
I don't the the offerup guys gonna respond tonight because of how late it is
Or early depending on how you look at it
GIGABYTE Radeon RX 5600 XT WINDFORCE OC 6G Graphics Card, 2 x WINDFORCE Fans, 6GB 192-Bit GDDR6, GV-R56XTWF2OC-6GD Video Card https://www.newegg.com/product/N82E16814932246
Windforce gpus run very cool. especially the 3x versions
Looks decent
Yes I have a windforce 3x, very cool gpu
Much cooler than ventus
Though I need to fix mine sagging...
Or just order the riser I've got in my wl
Hey everyone, so I just got my first pc in the mail (not a prebuilt) and I have made preparations to build it myself. I have to wait for a few missing accessories to arrive from fractal designs for my case but in prepping my building space, I realized I’m not really sure where to clip my ESD strap to as it’s a wooden tables on carpet... I have researched ESD so I know about having the power supply plugged in to use as a ground but would having a laptop power cord plugged in to reach the table and then clipping the end of the ESD wire to the metal tip(that goes into the laptop) work as a ground? Or could it possibly make a path through me to the motherboard or other parts while I’m handling them? I still haven’t removed anything from the anti static bags because I’m pretty nervous but I definitely want to build it myself. Any help would be appreciated! Sorry for the noob question. Once I get into water cooling with hardline and wiring up RGB or something I’ll be sure to ask questions that aren’t so cringey haha I’m excited for my first build!
holy moly
I surrender
wall of text warning -runs screaming-
ESD bracelets are a joke
Eh anti static straps arnt necessary so I never looked into them
I've built well over a thousand systems without one, and never fried a thing.
Can never be too safe though, especially for a beginner
someone pick a cpu for this build
My idiot brother however did fry multiple boards while wearing one. so there's that...
Lolol
Should the power supply method be sufficient?
Probably
Funny thing. He's the one that actually went to school for computers. I just learned from 2 MIT guys.
Touching the psu to discharge static is what I think he means
Oh
Also, don't lay anythign ON the anti-static bags. the outside IS conductive.
Lol
Correct
Just touch something metal, to make sure you're discharged, and you should be fine.
Case is usually also good
@little osprey I didn't know that
I always touch the light switch in the room.
About the bags?
Yes
Yeah, the outside is conductive so the electricity discharges and stays on the outside, and protects what is inside.
Oops
So many people when building pull out the MB and lay it right on the bag. I'm like, NooooOooooOoo
Yeah I did that haha
(that's how my brother fried a few boards, and himself)
he powered them up, still on the bag
I tried future proofing so I invested a little extra wherever I could with industry discounts and Newegg sales and everything and still spent about 1500 so I don’t want to ruin anything naturally
@hollow radish yeah I understand
Did it just ground to the bag?
What specs did you gett
Yup, shorted out
@little osprey if I didn't start the mobo on the bag it'll be ok then right?
Yes
Ok bcus I just sat it down on it for a min or two
Still a higher risk of a static discharge, but otherwise not an issue.
I wonder how long it takes for gigabyte rma's to come back
Who knows
I wish I did lol
Right now? not a clue
Yea
I was shocked how fast they got the fans to me about a month ago though.
@little osprey ok good
Of course, I ended up returning the 1650 for a 1660s, so now I have fans I don't need ... but who cares!
Hopefully they'll be fast
@little osprey I returned a psu for repair
Or replacement
Gigabyte PSU?
Interesting
Sort of like Gigabyte RAM. Never seen in the wild.
I'm sure it's a good psu normally, but when I got it it made this very stupid annoying whining noise
@little osprey yeah
Probably a bad cap
Coil whine maybe
Capacitor whine makes my skin crawl.
Or coil
Actually whine is probably the coil. Bad caps tend to shriek.
It’s a gigabyte aorus x570 pro WiFi board (ATX), ryzen 7 3800x, 2x16 3600 G skill ripjaws, gigabyte GeForce 2070 super (because lord knows I’ll want to game on this), Bequiet! Straight power 11 850w 80 plus gold PSU, 500gb Sandisk 3D ssd (2.5), and a 1tb western digital black m.2 with the EK heatsink, in the Fractal design meshify c case(tempered glass of course)
Bit over the place
I surrender
Interesting SSD
You should toss all that into pcpp so you don't have to type it ... wait, rookie, nvm
Lol
Sandusky 3d bwha?
I've never heard of Sandusky
Nor have I
Never seen it in the SSD master sheet either
I plan on using the stock AMD fan and the two 120 case fans until I find a deal on an AIO and some extra 140mm fans
AIOs aren't always the end all best cooling
Me neither
Air can be great
Air is def less maintenance
A great aircooler can beat a bad aio
I gotta repaste with x method
Then my temps will be good
I barely pur paste on lol
I've also got a mahusive Zalman CNPS9900DF ... although it's missing a fan.
Sorry if I’m being an ass haha I’m new to discord
The psu sounded a bit like this, but the weired this is the frequency of the whine matched up with what I was doing in a game 🤷♂️
https://youtu.be/_ktrLPg-6rA
Audio sample of my graphics card, and it's incredibly loud noise, when under load. Note, this is an RMA replaced card. The first card I bought, brand new, had the exact same problem. This has been uploaded to present the noise the card seemingly emits.
Update: The culprit was...
I almost clicked that
Lol
@little osprey terrible noise
Ears saved
Ok
X method best method behind actually spreading it manually
my method probably would make some people scream
@stoic island yes it’s the sn750, somehow I get a huge discount on western digital products for working at a ski resort lol
Spread, spin, clamp
Lol
I use noctua thermal grease it's worked best for me
I need to order new grease. My stuff is probably trash now that I think of it
As in it beats mx4 in temp testing but not like cryonaut
Does the different paste really make a difference by the way?
Or the kinpin stuff
They make a difference, small, but they do
It's not gonna bring your CPU from 90c to 70c, but the difference between bad and great paste can be a good few degrees
Lol
It's NT H1
Well I have time before I build, should I order some different thermal paste than AMD’s preapplied stuff?
Yea I have ht h2
I mean, before someone else rebuilt the whole thing.
Only slight issue with AMD preapplied is that people find it sticky and hard to remove after a while
Temps wise eh you don't really need to bother with new paste
It doesn't age the best
I still haven’t seen the verge build video but I watched a ton of reactions on it and I at least knew better than whoever it was that was building
Like if you're bothering with new paste might as well new cooler
But yea it's decent enough
It's a really good what NOT to do video
Lol
Haha that's an old meme
I saw it for the first time today, how I'd never seen it before I don't know
Lyle's reaction was the best
Lol
Haha yeah, “pee size” amount.... times 6... all in a circle lol
I guess I've been building systems since before YT so I never really looked.
I be gone now
Omg I didn’t even notice that, I’ll have to go watch the whole thing tomorrow
Could have greased a tanks tracks with all of that
Well thanks for all the input everyone, I appreciate it!
@hollow radish I'd suggest watching a yt video while you build your pc
Like the Anthony build guide

Yes, exactly
-runs-
Don't forget your tweezers and livestrong bracelet
facedesks ... repeatedly

And your swiss army knife with HOPEFULLY a phillips
Yes very critical component @little osprey
Ball peen or carpenters?
Oh, and toss everything over your shoulder after you've ripped open all the nice boxes. While a knife was right there.
15lb sledge, go big or go home.
Really have to hammer that I/o brace in there
Perfect
I think imma do what naed did
Haha great
I'm🥱
Well thanks for the help guys! Get some sleep wherever you are haha
I've only been awake 12 hours, can't sleep yet
Well sometime this week at least
its fun
weren’t u gonna go to sleep like an hour ago
mm yes a need
I've seen that case before. Would live to built something into it
its really cool
mini-itx
supposed to be for portablility
like those cases that have the pull out handle
My fiance and I are buying a semi to do long haul trucking. probably going to build two systems like that to take in the truck.
does anyone know any good mobo’s that support ryzen 3600? looking for like around $120 maybe a little over
asus prime just sold out on newegg
Nvm they not in stock
whats that mean?
asewwwws
is it up to date with the bios and everything?
Should be
alright thanks
Just pray you never need to rma it
Its not really a problem anymore unless you get a refurbished one
new boards that are new should have the newest bios
The stuff I had to rma was all new.
whats rma
The literal months that it took to get anything back, and it was still broken ... that was the issue.
Don’t be
authorization
My first pc build was only 2 months ago and I was a noob now I help everyone I know with pcs
Now I know a decent amount about pcs
alright so i gave hard drive, ssd, mobo, gpu, ram, and cpu in my cart. already have the power supply and case
am i good?
Should i buy a new graphics card now or wait for the 3000 series
Wait if you can
@gilded kelp wait if you can
case comes with 3
then you should be fine which case?
corsair icue
It might look weird though
Is there an estimated date or month for the 3000?
I'm ordering the iCue 220T, once it's in stock
since you have to tak one of the front fans and move it to the front
Probably Oct/Sept
yes im aware of that i was thinking of ordering another fan to put in the back
@cedar night ye
SL120 if you want it to match
I would get another corsair one
so like how would the fan splitter work?
I waiting for that case to be in stock also
i cant have it go from back and front right?
Don’t the corsair case come with controller for icue/
There's also a 3 packs of SL120s for around 70, comes with the Node too
mine didnt
how would a fan splitter work in that case
if i had 3 in the front and one in the back
The case went in stock on corsairs website for like 2 hours yesterday and sold out again @little osprey
just connect them all to the splitter then plug it in
Of course I missed it, lol
yeah but like wouldnt it look weird? since it needs to go from the back too
Same saw the email noti but it was too late
The wires are all hidden in the back
would it work connecting one from the back and one from the front into a splitter?
@cedar night They should’ve come with a fan hub installed I think
could i take a picture of it and you tell me what that is
Pretty sure that case is supposed to have a fan hub.
not entirely sure what that is
splitter on steroids
not sure where it is
handles 6 fans iirc
can you take a picture for me?
let me look at it?
It's in the back of the case.
Should be near the mobo cut out
Yep it right there
hm?
Yep
Ugg, why does it insist on taking me to the airflow version.
idk both look nice
yup, you're right. not sure where I got the L from. Been looking at too many systems
weird because a three pack is $70 while a single is $50
That comes with 3 fans and the lighting node.
yeah i saw that but i was just looking for one. i dont really need 3
I've already got mine here for when the case finally arrives.
The case can hold 6, so I figured, why not.
3 in front pulling in, top and rear pushing out.
im about to order the rest of my parts
I'd really recommend staying away from ASUS, or praying you never have to deal with CS.
If the est wattage is 434 for my build is a 550w power supply good?
Should be but might want more head room
I'd go 650w. as they age they lose peak power.
plus you don't have to worry about replacing the PSU if you change something around in the future
What screwdriver will I need to build my pc?
Is there a certain size I should have ready to use?
Pretty standard size
Hey guys, is an 80+ Gold 600w psu enough for an rtx 2070 super and i7-9700k?
Price range?
Yeah, was tying to find a good 700 or 750 that was actually in stock
lol
ah yeah...
I found a 750
psu rn is a rare find...
thx guys I rly appreciate it
what 750 did you find?
@untold anchor welp, I find it hard to believe that anything in your build needs an upgrade. The only thing I can find as being an issue is your ram speed. You need to enable xmp in bios
Reason: Bad word usage
you're only getting 2133mhz out of that system when you could be getting a lot more
only reason i had it disabled was COD:MW was having a cow for some reason
Hmmm gotcha
ended up refunding it, trouble shooted absolutely everything even when as far as a fresh install and it still wouldn't run
Ope
I was thinking a MB upgrade eventually but even to replace this board it's another $500-$1000
Yea that's fair. If you need a more in depth analysis of your issues I would talk to @warm nova I'm not knowledgeable to assess your situation tbh. I thought you were going to inquire about upgrading a build with parts from two or three years ago 😬😂
That and aesthetic and cooling upgrades....I'll post two more pics of my 'build' its messy, dusty and frankly it looks like poop.
Maybe you just need a cooling upgrade and some custom cables? Idk tbh
yeah i havent jumped into the liquid cooling end of things yet, everything is air cooled
Gotcha. I personally have a 3900X and 2080 Super all air cooled and over clocked. Works great and with good temps too. Provided, I have insane airflow through my case but yea
Yeah i think the 10940x is a notoriously 'hot' chip if it isn't cooled correctly :/ i mean there shouldn't be anything i'd need to OC for at the moment but im all about future proofin
Agreed
I've got insane air flow too, No panels 😂
I really want to do something aesthetically pleasing with mine, i've almost thought about doing an open air build on brushed steel or something
That would be really cool
hint hint wink wink
lol
but yea, aesthetics are really really rewarding with these expensive parts
Yeah...i've got the expensive parts thing going. Most i've ever spent on a pc upgrade.
Lol. I feel that. I built this last August for about 3.5k
still haven't gotten custom cables yet😬😂
Anybody got a PC part picker list for 600$
Manly on pure performance and not rgb
Nice man, 10x better looking than mine lol
8 including that CPU cooler
lol, I'm sure yours looks fine/ will look even better very soon
7 noctuas in that little thing 😂
@crimson fox You can you use that as an air conditioner
going to say i thought i cheaped out on thermal paste, i went with NT-H1 Noctua crap. I'm not really familiar with Noctua at all tbh
If anything it's so good at removing heat from my system my bedroom reaches 88F
And yea, I mean I used the nt-h1 paste too
Russia is the best country to overclock at
I almost went with thermal grizzly
@crimson fox We hit 100+ during summer consistently so thats why my case is stripped.
Ope
our highest has probably been 105ish so around 40c
The pc case gets stripped down and an aircon funnel directly on it lol
*funneled ffs. Don't drink and type
Buy an air conditioner
@crimson fox that's an adorable mATX (mITX?) build
Can anyone help me? My ez debug LEDs keep flashing. Dram is solid red for a few seconds, then it goes to cpu led for 1 second and then back to Dram
Hey guys I'm looking at the Fractal Design Define R6 and I've been thinking about switching from an air cooler to a water cooler. Anyone have experience building in this case with water coolers?
So I just built a portable Mitx build. It’s running an I-5 9600k. With a noctua L9a. It’s idling at around 48C. In bios
It throttles as soon as I go into windows. Does anyone have some tips?
What is the best variant of the Radeon RX 5700 XT
I love my red devil not saying it’s the best just that I like it
Best is prob some like 1000$ one with a waterblock slapped on so
I doubt you want best
Which one is best for price
the lowest price one that isn’t a blower and isn’t made by asus
Just get 5700 founders and flash it with a waterblock
planning on building this soon anything I should change?
Thought you had a 3080 ti
I do
it's for my cousin
also I have 2
I just pulled a glock on some nvidia engineers
although this thing does have 1 or 2 driver issues
@clever pike get a crucial ssd it has dram chache
how much more r they?
ok i'll have a look thnx
ok np
the cheapest one with a cache is £18 more
nah it's fine thnx
but you will need a hdd you can get one for 13$ on ebay for 500gb
i'm only gonna b using it for my os and 1 or 2 games
oki
gonna transfer my hhd
oh lol then its fine
ok thnx anyway
i have kingston and its fast to me
Will a gtx 690 run oculus vr (not for me)
i just built my first pc and when i turned it on all the fans started spinning and rgb came on but nothing on the monitor and after like 30 seconds it shut off than like 5-10 seconds later it turned back on than rinse and repeat my dad thought it was the power supply so we returned it and got a new one but the same thing happened
ill help nolan
and i dont know what to do now
Mounting preasure
U already got ur gpu?
@little osprey its capable but not ideal
i also tried unplugging everything except cpu gpu and mobo
@vestal sonnet messag me in dm
Yeah
@vestal sonnet It might be your motherboard
My pc in it's current condition.. oof
Yeah a psu... Just sent it off for repair yesterday
ah, what was wrong with it?
Sorry that happened, big oof
LOL @little osprey I think mines a little worse.
I think mine worse then yours stevey
@little osprey ORLY?
Rx570, no mobo
And the computer I have now is an i3-8 with a 620UHD
That's a lot of dust
And again, desktop with no motherboard
Atleast yours rund
*runs
Is this a good deal
Hey that looks like my old PS4 one, just at 1tb
Id price check thru pcpartpickers
But I had a 1tb one for my PS4, was stock, lasted about 1 year
Mine hasn't ran in 3 month😔
I hope when I get my psu back it'll with ok
My desktop hasn't ran, EVER
Notice the PSU still has the plastic shipping wrap?
@little osprey please tell me you didn't get thermaltake smart 🤦♂️
OH THATS RIGHT! I never told y'all how I even got them in the first place
You see, I didn't buy em

my younger brother got into my Amazon account and bought them with my money, and according to the "gift" letters sent with, it was an apology for taking my Kindle fire and searching up some adult videos

You need two factor authentication my dude
Mine doesn't
It's auto logged in
Now that's a bruh moment
3 things happened unfortunately
In my brothers infinite wisdom he forgot a motherboard and my parents are trying to get me to return the parts
The last unfortunate thing is that if I do return them, I won't get money back, only a gift card balance
Don't return them then!
And just order a motherboard
I don't want to return them
But that's up to my bank, my parents reported it to the bank as fraud so now we're just waiting on word from the bank to see if the deemed it fraud or not.
One more week though and then it's past the return date
what's a good budget gaming monitor?
@mortal void I got ya
@little osprey why do they want it returned
Cause 1) I didn't buy it and 2) the money that was used I was saving to buy a car
@mortal void whats your budget
And you can’t chose to keep it @little osprey it’s literally your money
Hope for the best for you that you get to keep it
Especially since my laptop is falling apart
I might just say that I got a call from USAA saying that they deemed it non-fraudulant
oof
Like place a call myself, hang up before it finishes going thru, and then say that I received word that it was deemed non-fraudulant
Cause then it would be up to me
Well good luck
@mortal void whats your budget
@little osprey
probably like $200-$250 or less.
Also I'm a little angey
for one thing Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed to November, and owners of the Xbox One versions are getting a free upgrade for when the Series X version is made. At least that's what I understand from this post
I'm planning to try to build a micro atx build for college
since I want to be able to ship my PC to/from college easily, and it's a bit expensive with a full blown mid tower
actually I lied, I meant a mini atx build
I was considering doing a build like this
AMD comes with a stock cooler
whats the budget and purpose?
I'd say my budget is 2000 dollars, and for purpose? Not really gonna use it for much other than gaming, other than school stuff ofc, but that shouldn't be a problem either way.
Ok let me help
NO oem key!!
@ashen needle Imo you should wait until rtx 3000
should be in sept
or maybe october
@little osprey NVM, got it
id be waiting i was an idiot for wanting to build so early, Lucky i only went with the 2080s
Nights helping me
big navi will be out for sure before christman
Think I'll just ship my current mid tower to school and then leave it there
and build one at home when I come back
my current midtower has some old parts but it's aight
@ashen needle that's ur current?
ye
1070 is a bit old but it was from a friend who wanted to get rid of it and had me only pay shipping
Who wants to just get rid of a 1070? Haha that's still a good card
idk he was like "oh I got a 2060 do you want this 1070 if you pay shipping?" Like I'm not complaining but that's easily at least 200 dollars on r/hardwareswap or something
I forgot the 1660ti was a thing
the 1070 is oh so slightly better than a 1660ti
but basically the same
Yeah
@crimson fox that's an adorable mATX (mITX?) build
@analog hearth It's a full atx build. Custom painted fractal design C TG
headers on the mobo
That's just great
Updated my nvme driver
Computer restarted, had an error restarting, have to reinstall windows
TL;DR of the stuff said in generat chat:
- Try to find a cheaper motherboard
- Look for 3600MHz, cl16 ram
- Add the SSD
- Try for something other than nvidia founder's edition GPU
- Different case--that one runs very hot
- Don't pay that much for windows
I'd recommend a b550 or x570 motherboard. b450 is gonna be rough for that powerful of a CPU
if you were to go all out to maximize aircooling, regardless of the build,
what config will you have ?
3X Hailea 2000W in serial, chill box, Optimus/Heatkiller waterblocks.
I kinda want this ssd because it's seems to be at a good price? Does anyone know if it's solid? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NNRTTCM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_QC96EbFTKE597
Are the Termaltake Toughpower GF1 or the Corsair RMx PSUs good? I need a 650W PSU
“when”?
I’m new here and was brought here by the new egg website. I’m not sure weather I should build or buy a pre-built gaming pc. I’m new to PCs.
So it just died?
@open swift build your own
@timber trench yeah it still outputs power but it won't make the computer turn on
Thank you. Is there anything that I must know? Like basic stuff.
Alright lol ima just got for RMx
Okay thank you!
I requested you. I might need more help and if you don’t mind can you help me.
@open swift sure thing!
Whats the best aio, in terms of aesthetics and under 150? ARGB FANS WILL BE NICE
Is the msi tomahawk max any good ?
360mm?
Are there any good watercooling sets for beginners? I'd want to get into watercooling my PC but I don't want to spend $500+ on something I'd likely mess up.
@ashen needle
About 300 for full RGB CPU/GPU loop https://m.nl.aliexpress.com/item/32899782878.html?trace=wwwdetail2mobilesitedetail&spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5cf562285UYWPR
i only have one thing missing for my retro/budget build and it shows up next week. i can finally start building though! such excite
building an X58 system
Nice, what cpu/board/ram?
If only I could find someone that needs a Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 hehe
And I'm over here sitting with just a case, because none of the other stuff I want is in stock at a reasonable price.
u from the us?
Possibly larger fans and a different SSD
The case seems to support 120mm fans on the front
@clever pike I'll assume you have a harddrive or such that you will be reusing?
nah
So you'll just have that SSD?
well I am re using my hhd
but thats it
this pc is absolute ass
sry i'm lagging
1 sec
It's fine
should b better now
Though I'm thinking with the dead time I may pick up a new external hard drive to use for backup/copying data to my new PC purproses.
oh yeh that reminds me I need to buy a sata cable
Most cases/mobos come with sata cables
I'm looking
@little osprey what's a Sabertooth 990FX R2.0?
Woot woot
nice
Yes a 570 would be better @digital pecan... but the 570 I originally bought was DOA. I got a refund, but then couldn’t find any good deal after like 3 weeks of searching so I decided to just pull the trigger and get a 470 instead. My goal for this PC was to build something for very cheap that could run warzone. I’m benchmarking it now.
there should be a 6gb 580
590**
u don't need 8gb at that performance level
tbh if they did that it would just be a better choice than the 1560s in general
512MB
of corse they would have 2 bring the price down a little aswell
@celest horizon X5675/EVGA X58 SLI LE/12GB ballistix tactical DDR3-1600
it was my wife's old gaming rig, the old case it was in is junk, so i'm transplanting it into a fractal design R5
and throwing in either my old 750Ti or RX 570
was originally gonna try and flip it as 'baby's first gaming pc' type thing, but i kinda want to keep it now lol
just waiting for the xeon to show up, had an i7-920 in the system originally
@fast dust Alright
@fast dust great job on builb
Aw thanks
Yeah, old ASUS motherboard
re
Woohoo! Newegg got my MB in stock and it's set to ship tomorrow
waiting for mine to ship from B&H i preordered
I just got an email that b&h shipped my processor. Case should be shipping in a day or two, gpu only thing back ordered from them
first pc?
First in like 10 years
I still gotta order ssd, ram, and psu, but the mb was the biggest worry cause I was having a hard time tracking down an in stock x570 with wifi. (Except on amazon for 2-3x the price)
So super excited that newegg got the one I wanted in
For the build or the mb
build
wow nice
What all did you order?
ryzen 5 3600, corsair vengeance rgb pro 2x8, 512 gb ssd, 2 tb hd, b540 wifi motherboard, 80+ gold 500w psu, corsair ICU case and rtx 2070s
total=1.3k
Ooo nice, I bet itll look good with the rgbs
yes the motherboard is rgb, ram, and case
I'll add more storage later, figured 1tb would be enough to get started.
true
I think the mb is the only thing on mine that has some rgb
Why?
What are you wanting to do with it?
yt and streaming, mostly gaming tho
What kind of games
hold on
can you help me with a 1.1k pc
i decided to wait a year
and i will be playing triple aaa titles
Is this a good pc for the price?
I choose not to get a gpu because I was trying to go for the least money I can spend
And the 3400G has a good enough igpu
And I would need to spend maybe at last 100€ to get a gpu that could compete
idc about wifi, but it would be great
@proven plank 3400g is indeed solid
@proven plank I dont see any major issues, but I've never dealt with v.color. maybe some ram with higher speeds and 2x 4gb instead of 1 stick
I've seen some reviews and there are high ratings so I think that for the money those sticks are good nu I will try to find anything of better quality and I will try to remain with the budget of 350€
It seems pretty solid for the price, just never dealt with that manufacturer, so I cant really give an honest opinion on them
I found a g skill 8 GB double stick kit at 2400Mhz
I don't know if that is better or worse
And I found a brand called patriot and it has the model named "viper elite series" and it's a 2x4 2666mhz kit
For 32€
I don't know if you ever heard of that brand
Is it good enough? And yes, I can maybe try and help
okay
@brave oracle https://pcpartpicker.com/list/P6np3t
Its 1160 for that
Could probably make a few adjustments to get it down to 1100 like you asked
probably could cut it down a little with a b550 board
thx
Or cut it down by getting an SSD + HDD
I would maybe change the Psu and get it to like maybe 550 or 600
I was looking at those, but I found it only took 20 -25 off, and it leaves room for power for additions later on
@cyan glacier try your best to get the motherboard cable tucked behind the case more. It’s laying on your GPU which can get hot
Oh ok then it's ok to have it
@fast dust yeah could do a standard hdd, that would cut it down.
No SSD + HDD. No way your gonna put ur OS on an HDD for a budget like that
60-120gb SSD for OS and 2Tb HDD for games. Total cost for that is less than a 1tb SSD and still plenty fast
@deep skiff are the b550s good with the new ryzen cpus without having to adjust the bios? I know that's the appeal of the x570s for most people
B550 was built for 3rd gen Ryzen
And to cut on cost even more you could get a b450 which will still work amazing
Even a B450 D3SH will work on this build. It’s not recommended as much as something like a B450 tomahawk but it’ll cut the cost down substantially
B550 with wifi looks like same price pretty much as x570, so b450 may be way to go if wanting to cut it down some
Yeah a B450 with built in WiFi or B450 with a separate PCIe WiFi adapter would be good
@brave oracle https://pcpartpicker.com/list/B6KxMc
thx
Under 1100
ya somebody already answered but it supports 3000 out of the box, it’s like b450 and x470, one just has more features
So there are 2 micro-atx gigabyte b550 that aren't shown in Newegg. Hmm
@brave oracle 👍
Taste the Rainbow
@brave oracle a400 is one of the worst SSDs
I wouldn't buy that SSD as a boot drive:
That's SATA, just M2 format
thx for help
but still better choice. MP34 is currently the best in price to perf
Tossing together a budget build to put together until my fiancé gets the charity build together. Looking at Micro-atx or itx, but I want to compare the boards that for whatever reason aren't shown on the Newegg site. blaaargh 😦
Anyone know anything about Seagate ironwolf pros and how they compare to the baracudas?
Ironwolf pro are NAS drives, meant for prolonged read/writes and build to withstand vibration with minimized ill effects
So an ironwolf pro compares to a barracuda of the same speed and size by durability and nas features pretty much
Looking at 4tb drives for gaming
If your talking about barracuda pro nas drives rather than mainstream models, https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/276587-seagate-ships-14tb-ironwolf-and-barracuda-pro-drives
https://www.vueville.com/home-security/cctv/nvr/seagate-ironwolf-vs-barracuda-hard-drives-compared/
https://www.seagate.com/internal-hard-drives/right-drive/
Game drives?
I'd do what I did... as many 2 tb Firecuda pros as you need. They're SSHDs
I got four and like them
can someone tell me which one is better. AMD B550 AORUS Master motherboard or AMD X570 Phantom Gaming X motherboard
X570 is a better chipset
I'd stay clear of sshd's. They aren't really worth the extra cost with software solutions available
For game storage?
yeah
You can do a DIY sshd with your boot ssd and a hdd
I have 2 sshds. total waste of money
fair enough
That and an ssd's life span is proportional to it's size and how much data is written. SSHD's are typically around 8GB, and are rewritten all the time during use
I need help from a builder
it uses 8 GB MLC
i know toshiba used to use only SLC/MLC nand in their SSHD's but no idea what the firecuda uses, seagate doesn't seem to offer that info easily
MLC is good
The SSHDs that I have are the FireCudas
i know toshiba used to use only SLC/MLC nand in their SSHD's but no idea what the firecuda uses, seagate doesn't seem to offer that info easily
@spiral zealot it uses 8 GB MLC
aha yeah, i just found a press release from 2016 that said that
on the 5th gen firecuda's
Imagine the endurance if SSDs used 0 bit per cell NAND
Ikr, someone should get on that
ummmmmmm
I actually have a working prototype of that
It will never lose data you write to it
Ooo, count me in. Link me to your kickstarter
Sure thing. We have a promotional video, let me find it....
@potent prairie There ya go
nice lol
is the Cooler Master Hyper 212 a good rgb air cooler?
Or are there better options I should consider?
Can't get an AIO due to 120mm just being bad, and my other option would be to put a 240mm where my current intake is.
I plan to upgrade my cooler soon too so I’m looking around
Anyone ever order from ColdZero? Been looking for the 8x120mm fan tray for the 1000D and Corsair never seems to have it but https://www.coldzero.eu/corsair-1000d-fan-tray makes them custom. Have never heard of them so am a bit skeptical of ordering.
getting a 1660 super, id honestly go for a b450; but i understand the need to future proof
so uh, lemme think here
about $900?
I already have the super
Wont say much about which b550 to go for until lots of them are listed on the nice google spreadsheet of AM4 mobos
True
I mean there's many B450s that will have Ryzen 4000 capability
I think MSI accidentally revealed it in an email once, it was mainly BIOS storage that was the limiting factor
I wanna say the email said like 32MB, but I'm not 100% on that since it was a reddit post I saw a month or so ago
Giga leaked an x590 thing the other day
But yeah, I'm just putting a temp build together while my Fiance does her thing to get that absurd Xtreme build together.
That's getting a 3900x, but not sure what I want to go with for the b550
I think MSI accidentally revealed it in an email once, it was mainly BIOS storage that was the limiting factor
@hushed pollen it's not from MSI, but AMD said so themselves
already proven to be bs
Yeah it's been a bit since I saw it
and RIP
but like there was a support email of some sort where a company, not AMD, informed a customer of information regarding 4000 support
What’s the best 360 mm aio? Under 150, looking at cooler master b360
is msi g241 optix good?
Can someone recommend a laptop?
Looking for a 2070 or above, i7 or i9 (or ryzen eqv), ips 144hz+ screen, good thermals, and a somewhat slim design. Needs to be a brand with good service, I'm done with brands like Lenovo
I was loving the look of the scar 15 from ROG but the LED panel doesn't make it a great option. I have an op desktop but need something portable for college and gaming with friends
Razer Blade 15 or Razer Blade 15 Advanced comes to mind @potent prairie
Was considering them, but don't they have poor thermal performance
I'm the wrong dude to ask lol. I was just throwing something out there
really easiest option is to do some serious research or wait for someone better qualified to answer
and I mean WAY BETTER
Fair enough, thx for the input :)
Well there is the Lenovo legion y540
It’s not pricey but specs are the things you need
But the omen 15 is also very good
I already have a y740 and will likely be selling it because of Lenovo's abysmal service
May look at the omen tho
I forgot the exact name but rog g15
It had like a 10750h or smth with 2070
Here, temporarily out of stock
https://www.newegg.com/rog-strix-g15-black-asus-g512lw-es76-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834235464?&quicklink=true
Not sure on thermals but specs are good
Hey
