So, how fast do you think the b550 boards will sell out once they release in about a week?
Days would be my guess
dang I was about to buy a b450 board
Hey guys, I'm having an issue with my build and it's currently open in front of me. I have an H210i case with NZXT smart device which is taking the only USB header on my mobo. I want to control the wraith prism cooler rgb, but from what I read, it requires an rgb connection, and a USB connection.
The LED strip that came with the case has a terminal for RGB. Is it safe to connect my CPU cooler rgb cable to this?
I am hoping this will allow me to control the wraith rgb with NZXT cam without having to use the USB header of the cooler.
To put my question more simply, can I connect the with prism cooler in series with an RGB led strip that's being controlled by NZXT CAM?
If they appear to be the same connecter, they probably have the same pinout and it'll work
Most likely the worst that could happen is it will not work
Didn't seem to work. It did say that another program was trying to interfere
I think it might be because the wraith is not an addressible rgb and requires USB for dinner control.
can someon check if these fans are good?https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ymfgjp
wdym "these fans"
what would be a better cpu for a 2060 super, a 3600 or a 3300x
about to move my pc to a new case. anything i need to know before hand?
Thanks, @potent prairie . I saw that but was hoping to control the cooler without connecting to my motherboard via USB. I settled for basic control via the rgb header.
i got all my parts
Whats a good and cheap thermal paste/ thermal paste brand
and the pin i think is not properly connected
this is like the best paste in terms of thermal conductivity
10 bux for like 5 uses worth of paste
well, as long as its not an HEDT cpu
it does come with a spreader, but thats not really necessary
What do I need for thermal paste replacement?
all you gotta do is clean off the old stuff
i know
so like some isopropyl
A cleaning kit?
and some toilet paper
i already sent one
the removal kit tho
huh?
k
and you probably have some
I use some of this arctic silver or something
Arctic MX-4 for my main stuff and Arctic silver for other stuff
It was like $10 for 20g
i do be strugglin tho
@mortal rampart ?
Anyone wanna help me choose parts please dm
There's a lot extra lil connectors that idk what they are
@inland atlas I gotchu but lemme finish up here
Dude I’m doing a build for $220
I know for a fact I can put together a gaming build for $150 or less
Is nt-h1 good?
Ones molex
Can't tell the other though
Molex today you def don't need
Unless you have older parts
Which one is that
The one with tbe three spikes
The longer one okok
There's a close up
The circle on a right looks like a additional power
Have you hooked up your 24 pin for power
Yes
shrug
Lmao
What ab this?
it says tkg
on it
Guess not 😔
My mb chord kinda snug rn ngl
Ok
You might be able to find some. Does your mobo support quad channel ram?
OOOOOOF
what do you think of my build is it good enoughCpu- AMD Ryzen 5 3200X
Cooler- Stock Cooler Free
MotherBoard-ASROCK B450M STEEL LEGEND
Ram- T-Force Delta 8x2 3000MHz
Graphics Card-AMD RX 5500XT 8GB
SSD- 500GB WD Blue
HDD- 1TB WD Caviar Blue
Chasis- Tecware M3
PSU- HV PRO 550W
@vast topaz 3200x??
about 1500-2000
@vast topaz ok for 1500 you Can get a much better pc than that for 1500
@vast topaz https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b36tFG
Yep that build is great but I'm not familiar with teamgroup ssds
@jagged ember the team group m34 is a pretty good ssd as far as I’m conncered
I got the crucial P2 works fine for me but It isn’t the best but I got it at a good price
Is 81 celcius for a R5 3600 under load good?
im not allowed to send a parts list
Gotta be rank 3
mm
@river spindle if you shoot me a dm i can send it on your behalf
@jagged ember 80c under sustained load seems to be what is expected
assuming youre using the stock cooler
is it normal to use 2 different types of ram
define "types"
you can do that. but be sure that they're the same speed and same timings
you shouldn't mix brands but if you do you want them to be the same size, speed, and timings
the trojan virus
if you use a 16 gb and an 8 gb you lose performance in the 16gb stick and if you use diff timings they don't work efficiently
ok
download and install MalwareBytes and go through that process and its malware scan
Windows Defender is never really that great
but ehhh
I mean, Windows never really focuses on security. I doubt Defender would do a great job
defender only free antivirus you need
free antiviruses are very meh
i just use virustotal.com to scan files i think might be virus
MalwareBytes is free and gives you a free trial when you first install it. it'll get all malware off your PC the first time installing. but there's of course a paid option that does the same stuff
all the paid anti virus is expensive tbh
MalwareBytes is free and gives you a free trial when you first install it. it'll get all malware off your PC the first time installing. but there's of course a paid option that does the same stuff
@analog hearth
oh
is kaspery good?
idk about Kaspersky (like, I genuinely don't know haha), so I just stick to MalwareBytes. my stepfather introduced it to me and that he used to use it at his old job. I've been using it ever since
it's been working great even without the paid version
but have you tried getting rid of viruses before?
if you need a free antivirus, malwarebytes is the way to go
why not now?
its 11:11 for me
haha now it won't come true lmfao
depression is inevetiable

@jagged ember 80c under sustained load seems to be what is expected
assuming youre using the stock cooler
@latent storm thanks it's a sustained load yeah
no problem
Any ideas why my PC won’t recognize my HDD? I’ve made sure the Sata power and Sara Data are both in properly. It doesn’t even show up Unallocated.
Does it show up in BIOS?
No
When was the last time it was working?
Just built the PC yesterday and everything is working fine except for the HDD
So it's a brand new HDD?
Yes
Not yet. I’ll try
@sand falcon YES! Thank you for your help. I tried 5/8 sata data ports and the 6th did the charm. Weird
Cool. Was the 6th one a different color?
Not that I could tell. Was really stumped for a bit. Thanks again
Np
vroom
Looks better at nite
Taken me a few weeks to get this far
To finish the bank end is to do.
Then I may make a video. It has 2 10 watt speakers, LEDs , a fan for the gpu.,with dedicaticated air flow with speed control.
So i put this together with some help
Is it decent
i have the gpu and everything else
Uh personally I don’t like gigabyte boards
The 2600 looks a bit overpriced. For like a little bit more you can get a 3600
I’ve worked with that SSD before it’s pretty cool
@bright shale ye there is a few things I would change
Other than that looks solid
I would change the ram
Also if its for gaming you could just get the 3300x
^
Uh i have a question i have a hard drive and ssd im currently downloading windows but my ssd doesn’t pop up when i want to download windows is there a fix or should i download on my hard drive for now?
is this too op for gaming?
-RTX 2080Ti
-32GB 3200Mh ram
1TB SSD
-8TB HHD
-AOURUS z490 prp
-Intel Core i9 10gen
850W PSU
All togader is around 3k €
And water cooling
8tb hdd damn
@pseudo prawn don't forget the market rapidly changes, in 2 years there will be 2 new generation of parts
You could say build a 1k euro build now and build a 2k euro build in 2 years
no couse i have goood-ish pc for school but i can bearlly play slither.io
now i have
core i3
8gb ram
500gb ssd
I don't know more becuse its all in one pc HP touchSmart 7320
huh
its 8 years old
Well you could get a big upgrade now if you build now
but anyways
building lists 2 years in advanced is not a great idea
a lot of things will change
You don't need 3k euros for a good gaming pc
1k does a good job
3k does the best job
what country do you live in
@pseudo prawn you got local stores you're buying from or like shipping from Germany or something?
alright
Everything from amazon.de, ~1000 euros for an example
https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/QVpTgJ
different budgets you can get different parts for a different list
tnx
@upper verge
Here's how to pick the color
You might consider Green if you have high end parts. They can draw a lot of electricity
lolol
Should we have this guide pinned? I feel it is very useful
no
I keep having to dig it out though when people ask about RGB colors
im saving this thanks
lol
Very hard to add to favourites though
Is there a way i can get a good streaming and gaming build for around $1200 usd (1080p) playing r6?
copied from what i said in general chat
honored you can make a build on PCPP and just make sure to get an nvidia gpu for streaming, make sure you get a good psu by referencing the LTT psu tier list, and trying for a r5 3600 or maybe 3300x if you can find one. tht budget should get you what you want but parts are inflated and sold out a lot right now
nvidia gpu will allow you to use the NVENC encoder for streaming without taking a big performance hit so for streaming go for that. Depending on what you can find within budget id go with a 2070 or 2070s.
If you can wait though, id wait til prices and stock go back to normal
Would you guys buy multiple hard drives are just one big one
i went with two 1tb 860 evos
Hello I’m putting the master liquid ml240r rgb on my pc and I was watching gear seekers video on this product. Anyways, I see that he connects a cable to a port called CPU option and then CPU fan later on in the video. However, I don’t have CPU option as a part on my board; only CPU fan and this other port called Pump fan. Can the pump fan port replace the CPU option port that gear seekers uses in their video?
Like if you have a cooler like mine that has two fans
wut
for wut
Use case?
Well ofc
I need a case to XD
I wanna be able to at least run pubg
Csgo
Fortnite
Bo3
Etc
It appreciate if you guys could send me some links in dms
Do you have any parts that you can reuse?
So we could talk more about them, without destroying people's phones
And never built before first pc
I have a old Lenovo PC
Don't know what's in it
Basically everyone has notifications off for this server. If they don't, they're fools
Oop
How's the case on the old PC?
Its in good condition
Full size case?
If you want pics of it dm me
You can post pics here. Less hassle and you only have to send it once
It's an old pc. But hoping I can at least reuse power supply or hard drive
Nvm HDD is only 160 gb
What's the wattage on the power supply
Trying to.find that out
God man I cant find anything about it
This is a quite old pc
I just need to save the money I can
That's where I'm at rn
With only a 600 dollar budget, I dunno what I'll do
600 is doable. I don't trust this PSU
I'd punt that thing
you can definitely do a full build for $600, it won't be top tier in terms of performance, but it'll get the job done
there's a newer version of that CPU that's made on 12nm tech instead of 14nm, and it should be around the $75-80 mark, but i couldn't find anyone that had it in stock, so i went with the original version instead
@spiral zealot I could not recommend that build
working with a $600 budget here
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dFNd27
Here's another option
and trying to not just go APU and 2TB HDD
@spiral zealot still could get a better build
@sand falcon I'd go 1650S over 580
Can do
^---- Squid did it for me
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mcH8TW/gskill-aegis-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-f4-3200c16d-16gis
This ram though, same timing, but cheaper
That reminds me I need to go into my build and find different ram
Oop
Dodnt see all this holy cow
Is the tomahawk max good?
yeah, but apparently not for the price
cv 550 is mostly cheap
prices are up right now anyway though, if you can find any in stock in the first place
Also, the build needs wifi
Replace gpu with rx 570
ok, who is doing a build for who?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9jmwvW just look at this
robert, you need a parts list?
Yes
squids list is decent, needs a few tweaks tho
Squids is the best I've seen, but it will need wifi
Yup
The psu could be changed to the BR
BR is also meh
We're mostly pinging them back and forth between ourselves
You're not going to get a non meh PSU at this budget
everyone has different opinions on best bang for the buck
parts list wars ... you never know what will show up next
I just need a build, that can run fortnite and csgo.
Yup
alright gimme 10 mins
And now we're all fighting to get the best build for that use case
I stay away from budget builds, hehe
Bro yall showing so.much love I feel so
... I don't even know how to explain
Eh, don't worry about it. We're mostly just trying to one-up each other 😉
lol
Do you guys think one case fan will be enough for these specs?
Plus a possible on from the old PC?
1 fan might be ok, but if any can be salvaged from the old pc, would probably be preferred
Bruh someone call me in my DM. I'm so confustruhappy
I'm not able to vc right now 😦
or even just adding a couple of really cheap case fans, no bling
like, $5 fans lol
just a couple intake, plus the exhaust that's probably built into the case
@little osprey How much storage space do you need?
256GB ssd plus your current hard drive good, or would you prefer 512GB on the SSD?
As much storage as I can fit
Okay
Is a few dollars over budget okay?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HNXDsk
$599.92. Nailed it
wheres he gonna get the cpu tho
Dunno
What did you come up with?
interesting case but I'm too lazy to make a list rn
is there a major difference using m.2 970 evo compared to a regular ssd, loading times? also does anybody know if the 9900k runs really hot? lol.
yeah, sata
970evo is expensive for no reason most of the time
its like 180$ for 1tb when comparable SSDs are 130$ for 1tb
from a purely theoretical sense, yes the nvme drive will be faster, but from a real-world experience sense, you probably won't notice the difference
Game loading times it's going to be only a little faster
this is the best i could do
LTT did a video about loading times and almost everyone who tried out different systems, i think maybe ONE person actually picked the nvme system and said it felt fastest
that's LTT though
other people did testing with different results
I felt a difference from a sata ssd to my NVMe one in loading times
this was just how the system felt when you were using it hands on
especially GTA with long loading times
Can someone make me a list for 800$
and it's a small sample size, sure
but the differences aren't gonna be massive either way
benchmarking it, it's usually about 1 second or so
even if i saved 10 seconds on a loading screen, if it's a 3 minute loading screen, 10 seconds doesn't mean jack
ah. i got the SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 500GB coming in hopefully it works out. i hope the 9900k doesnt run extremely hot, i bought the CORSAIR iCUE H115i RGB PRO XT hope that works for it
but when sata 1tb SSDs are about 110$, NVMe 1tb SSDs are about 130$, I'd get NVMe for the 10 seconds every day
thats an hour a year :P
time is meaningless these days anyway
eh, the more you have the more you can do
just up to you what you want to do with it
is the rtx 2070 super practically a gtx 1080?
no
consoles are pushing for NVMe, so expect NVMe to become more useful in a few years for game loading times
2070s is similar to 1080ti
2070/2060s is similar to 1080
gotcha gotcha, i have the gigabyte rtx 2070super came in today
e
My dream build....
1080ti?
Still no ssd
why so many gpus? its not really that good because so many games now a days use sli
it is overkill as a joke
I work with a system with 8 GPUs. No biggie
Anyone bored?
Yup
Anyone bored?
@little osprey Yes
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VzfQsk I need something faster than the CL18 I picked on this accidentally.
Here's a challange for you guys if you're bored.... Build me a supercomputer. Budget is 500k
If I didn't have a headache already
You'd have a super computer built into a new 2021 Corvette C8.R
lol
Hmmm
computer builds itself into a car
Performance doesn't sound like it would be great. Won't the 'vette take up most of the budget?
I wish I had 5k
Running fiber to a 'vette would present an interesting challange
Who wanna call and show me how to build a pc properly hahahaha
LTT
Nahh I know him already my dood
Ok, good
LTT has many vids lol
And you know what else is good? Our sponser, ridge wallet!
You could design the supercomputer 🙂
Fun? Me? You're new aren't you
What memory?
In the link I linked above. I need something faster than 3x32 CL18
And to find the contact I just lost in my eyball, somehow
It's still CL18
Yeah, I need something faster
CL10
facepalms
I'd never touch Intel, ASUS, or MSI.
its just a brand
I'm centering mine around two companies, and a specific motherboard. hehe
oh yeah, forgot mouse n keeb
Does that mobo have enough pcie lanes?
why wouldnt it
Some itx motherboards will only have 16 lanes
?
Also, only 8+2 power... might be tight for a 10900k
lanes are CPU and chipset based
Just discovered why I went with the CL18. it was the only DDR4-3600..
10900k has 16 lanes for the gpu, the ssd gets 4 lanes from the chipset
Not all motherboards will fully implement them. My boss has a mITX and it doesn't have enough lanes for both a full GPU and NVMe, so he has to lose bandwidth somewhere
its an x16 lane slot, and a x4 lane M.2
those traces go SOMEWHERE
i would think they go to the chipset and cpu
z490 has 24 available lanes, its not hard to route traces
also a 2080ti can run on 3.0 x8
so thats not really even an issue
16 to GPU, and 8 to nvme. It might all be on discrete lanes, but who knows. PCIe lines are finicky.
4 to nvme
2 slots
there's also sata implementation for m.2
i guarentee that the 2x4 and 1x16 are all ready to go
The lanes are still being run, also x8 has a big performance hit.
otherwise they wouldnt sell the board that way
There's at least one manufacturer that shares lanes between GPU and m2 on this form factor.
Bigger than that
nope
Yup. Tested it in real world. In "hungry" games, it cripples a 2080ti to almost 1060 levels on low frames
My boss, coworker and me. We were trying to figure out why his 2080 was so crap. Turned out it was on x8, switched it to x16 and worked perfectly.
these benchmarks say otherwise
u sure it wasnt the 1 and .1% lows that were bad?
I'm going to trust what I saw with my own eyes in real life. It ran fine for a most part, but frames would randomly tank
Normally, it was more or less okay, but the lows were horrible
Which given that the 1 and .1% lows are why you choose intel over amd......
I'm looking if they say anything about lows
ok, geez, i looked up the board in question, it runs x16
ALWAYS
done
unless you, the user bifurcate it yourself
which is an option
bifurcation kinda wack
I usually just avoid mITX on high spec builds. It gets wacky fast
Have a friend that psu cuts out many times a day while gaming on 2080s with 3700x on a corsair rm650x, I told him sounded like low power as it is for that build but could just be a rail overload or a complete dud, anyone have any ideas? He plans to get another but I told him he should possibly get a little higher power
New build as well probably week or two,
Could be, but if it is it's not overall power.
Cool cool he’s replacing anyways but most likely case being it’s just a dud psu? This is one area I’m not the sharpest so was looking for an explanation
Completely drops power turns off, I believe only when under load like games
Well I asked if he’s been monitoring stuff like temps and loads right before cut offs but he hasn’t answered back yet, he’s somehow fully wrapped his head into it being psu
Just don’t want him getting another and it being same thing
does it give you a message why it cuts out?
Not positive from what he said was a day ago that he was wondering what’s going on keep completely turning off mid games, then he said today he’s been spending all day testing stuff out and is convinced it was psu
This is basically everything from yesterday what gave for details,
“Ok idk why my monitor and keyboard keep randomly shutting off completely, and the whole pc fully restarting randomly, especially under heavy load even though cool temps getting a replacement this is annoying keeps doing it mid games”
“ I suspect it’s my psu I’m ordering a replacement this is annoying, my cousin had a similar issue when his house ac would turn on so I wonder if it’s that” then today said was testing it

I’m at a loss lol this is one thing I’m not good with is power/electrical 😂
I said try a different surge strip he said he did and just using wall plug directly too
I'm trying to sort out the A/C thing even being related unless they've got a circuit breaker going, but that would take out more than just the computer
That’s what I thought and we said exactly that me and another friend lol but electric is something I’ve been bad at for years
I stick to CNC, I get lost in circuit and electrical stuff 😂
And they'd have to go flip a breaker to get power back, so that would be pretty obvious
Yep exsctly
In the end it’s not my Pc so it’s all good if he can figure it out in the end with a new psu, just wanted to help diagnose if it was actually the psu
i was officially bested by a keyboard and mouse today for 4hrs and never fixed the issue

i have a gameplan for tomorrow tho
kewl
Hi, my little brothers birthday is coming up and i really want to build him a new gaming pc, however, i have little to no experience assembling a pc, (except for the mother board) although, i have seen many videos on how to build a pc. I do have about a 1000-1300 dollar budget to build him one, (including a monitor and keyboard). If anyone knows any parts that will stay in bounds of budget at the same time giving him a gaming experience that wont be somewhat "obsolete" by the end of 2020, pls dm or let me know.
So when exactly are you planning to build @dusk stratus
his birthday is on the first week of july but i want to get the parts in like a week or two in advanced
bro thank you so much!
if im being totally honest
idk what either of those are
well
i know what wifi is
just not the ladder
Recommendations for a fully modular 750 watt gold psu? My thermaltake bit the dust in two weeks so id prefer no TT
@silk estuary RM750 is in stock rn
@dusk stratus wired and wireless, wifi is wireless, Ethernet takes a wire
Either way the motherboard in the list has wifi so
You're welcome
Idk why but pcpp just doesn't list that monitor so had to add as custom part, it's on Newegg.
Got myself an rm650
Pcpp says i only need 406w for my rig so 650 is good enough for me
I'm trying to legitimize a reason to replace the 850 Hale90 that I have.
Hopefully thermaltake customer service gives me a full refund for their stupid ass defective product
Let me know if they don't. Never dealt with them, curious how they take care of it.
Will do
How old was the TT when it blew?
Might still be worth checking with Newegg, especially if you have issues with TT.
I didnt start using it until around the 12th cuz that's when I had the parts.
I left a review saying it blew, I'll see what happens.
Is a zotac 2060 super or a galax 2060 super better
I'd recommend a Gigabyte 2060S at least.

Thanks to @autumn wolf for helping me with my build
And some help with @cursive wharf
after my first entry build I got an itch to build more but no $$ for it or use but really want to
@tidal vault build a budget pc that you can sell off
been curious of that after watching KristoferYee getting used parts but sadly don't have much time in the week since work just recently started again for me
what cpu matches best with a 1070 founders?
what about an intel counterpart
Anyone of those depending on your budget
i have an i3 8350k rn
i got a gtx 1650 super what would be a good upgrade?
@glass bridge i5 8400
what about an i5 9600k
That could work
Depends on your price
yea at least under 350
It all depends on price
@little osprey a upgrade would be 2060 or 2060 super
Depends on budget
^ 2060 super for sure
like 300 dollars
or KO
alright lemme checkthem out
is the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce RTX 2060 a good gpu
well i just copied that from amozon
is it better to buy from ebay
?
im kinda a fan boy of zotac
I'm still debating what I should pick as the GPU for my new build. I keep bouncing back and forth between "Be cheap, get a 1660 Super" or "I really want a 2060 Super"
lmao, depends on what ur doing
check the benchmarks of whatever it is you do the most, and get the one that's better for your needs
@cold sorrel
hello
hi
1920X1080 and around 40 to 50 fps on very high in wildlands
wildlands is a heavy game
so yeah
1000
kk
ok thnx
i'll ping u when im done
ok
def go AMD. Intel is far too pricy for a 1k budget in gaming builds
but so can Intel
rip
cough cough 3rd gen ryzen 9 more then 8 cores
hey guys i need some help with some upgrade purchases for my current build. I currently have a pc with 16 GB RAM, Prime a320m-k motherboard, ryzen 5 2400G CPU and no GPU. I want to know what GPU i can get with for my current MB and id like to know what Ryzen 7 is best for my build as well. I currently strem on twithc and upload to youtube but my workflow is a bit slow, if anyone can help please do. Thank you!
Hey guys. I have the NZXT H710i and it has a USB Type C connector that I cannot find anywhere in my motherboard manual. I'm using the Asus Maximus XI Hero (WIFI) mobo. Does anyone know where I can connect this? I can't find it in the manual
USB Type C headers dont exist
USB 3.1 headers do tho
which USB C tends to be on front case panels
Gotcha. I thought it would go under USB 3.1 but wasn't 100% for sure. Thank you
if it isnt on the board could maybe get an PCIe add in card
This is where you would connect the other end of an usb C port
Provided it's an internal header that you are looking for.
thank you guys!
Oh, sorry, I tagged the wrong person lol
noob
🙃
@arctic jungle definitely doing regular IRL livestreams and podcasts also gaming for the future
and better workflow for video editing and rendering
on the topic of USB-C ports, I have a type C port on my case but dont have a port on my motherboard, is there any way I can get an adapter or something?
woah, didn't know USB-C could have it's own header
I just want to upgrade my current build, Im going to stream from my console and budget $700
@arctic jungle
but what fps/res and what games
you really just need a capture card and a moderate CPU to handle the input and output of the console to the stream
but capture cards are mega pricy
Well, there are USB 3.1 gen 1 to 3.2 gen 2 adapters. But I would need another 3.1 gen 1 port.
I hate USB sometimes
why is 3.2 gen 2 not just USB 4? That would be waaaay easier to understand.
When is the last time they made it easy?
there's probably some algorithm they use to determine whether it should be the next subversion or the next full version. like, Apple will go from 13.4 to 13.4.1 if it's just bug fixes or a security patch or something. but they'll turn the update into 13.5 if the update involves changing the SDK of iOS somehow
Yeah, probobly
and I think Apple just does the next full version (i.e. 13.5.1 to 14) only if it's specifically for when the next iPhone releases
What’s a good pcie card to add another usb 3.1 header? My mb only has 1 and my case has 2
I would just get USB to PCIe card
But like, the speeds are 4 times faster and the connector is significantly different. You would think that would count as a major revision.
most 2-port cases can just use one header @severe bloom
oh, just use the header for the case USBs
I have a 1000D and it has enough ports to need both cables
but if you need more USBs, just get a USB to PCIe card
oh what the heck
a USB splitter(?)
3.1 doesnt do splitter format like 3.0 afaik
maybe there is a pcie to internal usb 3 adapter?
ah, didn't know that. thanks Hei :)
If you need a 3.0 header, then you could probobly get an expansion card with an internal USB 3 port on it
It’s actually a 3.2 cable and header I need an extra of. Msi creator trx40
you could use this https://www.amazon.com/PCI-Ports-Header-Express-Dual/dp/B07GSQR6D4/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=internal+usb+3.2+pcie&qid=1591633854&sr=8-5, and this https://www.amazon.com/LINKUP-Internal-Motherboard-Converter-Adapter/dp/B07WG8ZJ41/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=internal+usb+3.2+pcie&qid=1591633892&sr=8-3
you could just use an adapter to convert a 3.0 to a 3.2 port
The speeds probobly wouldn't be the same, but at least you wont have dead ports
Can someone tell me if ASRock H470M-ITX/ac is compatible with 10th gen intel CPUs
I have both 3.0 cables for the case connected but have two 3.2 cables and only 1 3.2 header. I tried to link the manual for the MSI Creator TRX40 but won’t let me.
https://www.amazon.com/LINKUP-Internal-Motherboard-Converter-Adapter/dp/B07WG8ZJ41/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=internal+usb+3.2+pcie&qid=1591633892&sr=8-3 use this adaptor @severe bloom it converts one 3.0 port to a 3.2 port
@steady rune that board will work
@sour kayak ok nice, thank you
Excuse me aren’t you supposed to use thermal paste even though it comes with pre-applied thermal paste or no?
pre-applied thermal paste isn't the greatest but its probobly fine
K thx cause I thought i am supposed to use it cause it dries out or something
what cooler is it, and what are you cooling?
Idk someone in the discord chat is making his pc rn so he was wondering if he needs to use it or not so I hopped in here and asked
I need some help. I've been looking into buying new PC parts for a while now, and I'm due for an upgrade since I'm running a i7-4790k with an abundance of thermal problems in a mini-itx case (100*C and higher). I'm looking to increase my productivity for animation and other 3D rendering programs, specifically in blender & Cinema 4D. Currently I'm looking into getting these parts, any suggestions? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qDhhwh
I would just get 2x 1tb 970 evos and not the 500gb. Would also not get a 3.5” drive and get a 2x2tb SATA ssd can find some pretty decent ones about the same price each so build cost will go up slightly but will ensure better performance than that 5400 rpm drive. I assume your storing a lot of your assets there which would load very slow.
i mean you could also get a good 2tb nvme for around the same price or cheaper, samsung makes expensive drives that arent worth the extra price a lot of times
Yea
@formal quail what's the budget? I'll make a list in a bit
Also, no GPU in the list? What parts can you reuse?
Do you need an os
@stoic island my budget is around $2,500. I'm waiting for the next generation of GPUs to come out to purchase a new GPU.
I'm already going to be loading Windows 10, since I still have a product key and the disc in hand.
I currently have an RX-580, But again I'm waiting for next generation graphics cards (hopefully in fall)
Hello! What're some good PSUs for a TUF X570 motherboard, a 1660 Super and a 3600 Ryzen?
Budget? @open gazelle
@open gazelle corsair txm 550 watt 80+ gold rated
I like the hxi psus
thats really expensive tho
But platinum so it gets all the juice
HXi is like 1200w
I don't think he'll need platinum
AXi HXi RMi are all the corsair multirail crazy PSUs
you don't need em until you do HEDT+multi gpu
Doesn’t need but also should think about future upgrades. Hxi starts at 750w.
Any idea when gskill will finally release those cl16 HEDT high capacity kits? My 3970x is hungry for a fast full load of memory
@granite delta @formal quail 1000. This is the build SO FAR. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/r6cWvW
^ Agreed
i would cut stuff down and get a 5700 xt
Same
is the Cooler Master MWE Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply good?
My friend said the the 5700xt is practically the same as the 2060super
why is it so cheap?
Today my son and I benchmarked his new gaming rig.
https://www.facebook.com/WilliSilicon
https://www.willisilicon.com/
They already bought a 1660 Super, they've had this GPU for a while so.
hot damn
1660 super is better than 1660ti in value most of the time
@open gazelle get 3600cl16 ram not cl18
also might as well get 2tb HDD for like 5$ more
and get a mp34 512gb NVMe SSD for 5$ more
MWE Gold is out of stock
No love for 3600 cl14?
<elitist/>
Yes?
To clarify, I'm kidding here - 3600 cl(anything) is fine for whatever budget build
@wheat stratus A 5700xt peforms like a 2070 but doesn't have nvce
@stoic island Changed both, all I need is a PSU.
Wow there are NO PSUs available
Holy
Yeah I ordered one over a week ago direct from Corsair and still hasn’t shipped to me.
How long does it take to ship from corsair
tracking order?
Still haven't got one
When I ordered my case direct from them it took 3 days before I got a tracking # and then a week for it to arrive.
The local microcenter has some 550w and 650w but I need a 1200w so had to order it
Newegg had nothing 😦
what would you recommend for a 650 dollar build
Lemme make a list real quick
thamks
thank you
cause im not smart
it was bad advice anyway
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
whats the BEST gaming laptop
What about the one with the whole blooming 3950x in it? It out performs most desktops
yep thats out of budget
Hi
, doing a threadripper build but I dont have enough money for a 2080 ti yet, what would a good placeholder gpu be? I was looking into a rx 570 OC for a few months until I can afford a 2080 ti
@mental blaze What threadripper?
a 3960x
What use case?
isnt it great how the ryzen 9s have more cores then some of the first and second gen threadrippers
Yup
That's what chiplets do for you. Ya want more cores? Sure, we'll just glue on another chunk of tamed sand
i am using the lian li o11d
basically here is what my plan is
im doing an air cooler for my tr currently
and then im gonna go custom hardline loop once i save enough for the gpu
i just need a gpu to placehold till i get some more cash
I have a 3970x build on water. If your waiting for the 3080/3000 series then don't get an RTX card yet. When you go water get the Optimus TR block, well worth the $ over Heatkiller.
A 1660Ti is priced right and will be a good placeholder
@buoyant flame its great keeps my GPU far away from the glass panel that temps aren't effected much
Build quality of it?
For a 30 dollar mount its pretty good, no complaints so far.
Didn't have a problem with sagging
What mount is it?
Phanteks vertical gpu mount
Ah nice, I tried the cablemod one in my wifes build, it sagged 😦
Yea i watched reviews in the CableMod one didn't hear good things. I was gonna go with cooler master one since alot of my build is from cooler master but they wanted like 60 bucks for theirs and I wasn't paying 60 bones for a cosmetic accessory lol
This Phanteks one working great so far been like 3 days but no issues
Yeah we tried it in a Corsair Crystal Series 600D and it just didn't fit right so it would wobble and had the droop with a card on it
Oof yea that sucks 😕
The cable also is not flexible at all so had to kind of put a hard crease in it wasn't happy about that either
Lol oh yea I bet
So @little osprey, what is your budget and what will you be using the PC for?
$750 and mostly games also school
What sort of school?
high school
i plan on take programming classes
also those classes that use blender
yea
What language programming?
too bad my current laptop cant run it at all
i think java?
but they also do python
AP Computer Science or whatever?
yea
That would be java 😭
idek if im taking them next year 😪
Yeah, I dunno what my school is doing either
Anyway, first lesson in programming:
Python = Good
Java = Bad
Java is still bad
Anyway, on with the build. Do you have any requests?
dunno what to get
Any minimum amount of storage space or such like?
any is fine
SSD is fast but expensive. HDD is slow but big
hdd
Usually people will go with a small ssd and a large hdd
They're not that much more expensive
oh
Do you need wifi?
like ethernet?
No, wifi
yes then
All computers will have ethernet. If you need wireless connection though, we'll need some extra parts
wireless
theres no date
Cool, that's good
The more you can wait, the better :)
We'll have to make a new list by then, but I'll get a rough hack one put together
There are also random sales to watch for
oh okay
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9bXXzN
Here's the rough system. It's a bit over budget with prices being the way they are right now, but it should go down
so thats all i need to build a complete pc?
I had some issues with that board but it should be find
Yup
It's a rough hack build. I'm not a fan of the board either, it's just the cheapest one with wifi that you can get rn
What about the Asus b450f gaming and a pcie wifi/bluetooth card may be cheaper
Not available right now
Mobile but says out of stock for me
1tb HDD tho... Is 2tb barracuda out of stock or something?
I could only find it for $120
Weird lemme see
I found it
Yay
@sand falcon thank you so much
I might have been looking at the firecuda idk
Ah fair
I see some b450 m boards available locally in Denver
What's with the case tho
Looks wack
Not too sure but I think couger mx330-g could be good
It was pretty, and for a rough hack build it was about the right price as other cases when they go on sale
Case is a personal thing, so I just clicked that button
Just the front panel don't look great for airflow for moi
Lol
So it must be good
Not only does it give you the usual OCP OPP OVP UVP SCP BOP etc, it gives NoctuaFanProtection!
Keeps you away from them beige Noctua fans!
LingLing insurance!
0 day warrenty because that's exactly how long it's gonna last!
lol
is there gtx 1660 supers with rgb?
other than gaming x
No. There is no RGB
RGB stand for red team, green team, blue team
