then youll most likely be fine, just keep aware of dust and try to keep debris out of the case as much as possible
okay thanks!
any time
I can dm you a video if itd help you better understand what I mean
@vivid flint Sure
@pastel briar And when do you recommend I do the stuff you said?
Probably going to get 3600 instead of a 3700x cause I'm not going to be doing too much productivity
guys need a gaming pc 1k including monitor
same
my new build wont post but the rgb ram will light up i checked all the connectors and cleared the cmos so i am going to see if its a bios update. but wouldnt i still get a post with old bios?
can anyone help me with a motherboard recommendation based on what i have so far?
@cursive lantern what parts do you have?
@little leaf intel xeon e3-1230 for cpu. 500gb sata drive 6.0gb/s. 2 sticks of ddr3, 500W evga power supply, asus nvidia geforce gtx660ti direct cu ii
is that parts you have already or stuff you gonna buy because if you buying that stuff don't
i already bought. i was putting together a cheap build
how much did you buy it for
i play games like command and conquer and total annihilation. no crazy graphics but when i have a lot going on it lags out
which parts?
all of it so far?
like 200
ok fine thats fine
i just need help with finding a decent motherboard that is usb 3.0 and ddr3. haven't a clue what to go with
the board i have no will not plug into my case
i have no idea about xeons
ive never built a pc before so i do not know much about anything lol
i guess if anyone sees these messages and can help send me a dm. need to make dinner lol
r7 3700x is currently on sale
The 3700X is practically always on sale
It's basically a contest between three vendors to see who can push Ryzen prices down the hardest
Same with the 3800x lol
PRETTY IMOORTNAT-ESPECIALLY IF YOU INTEND ON OVERCLOCKING
Sorry for the all caps
Water isn't always better than air cooling tho
A lot of OC can be done without it.
I'm a full 1. over on AC and can go almost another 1. higher
I intend no over clocking .. thanks 🙏 this was very helpful

what would a good motherboard that is not too expensive be for a ryzen 3 3300x
if you can wait a month look at the b550 mobos when they come out
b450 pro vdh
for budget i'd go with the b450 ds3h
its a semi decent board at $70-75 so i cant really complain
Whats a good and reliable psu for a budget pc
corsair cx
Wattage?
450W for $70 and 650W for $85
cx650 is 85$
450 I don't think will support 580
580 takes 8+6 PCIe power iirc
and 450 only has 1 pcie power connector
What site?
newegg
weggwegg
what else did you expect xD
some 580's just take 8 pin 🤔
This is newegg chat 💀💀 oops i thought i was in techsources chat for a sec
idk why they made them with 8+6 if they work with 8
hm
my 8 key is broke
nice
8888888888888
looks like it working fine to me

what keyboard is it
nah
no I have the cheap version
hotswap?
so no cherry switches?
Example vid
https://photos.app.goo.gl/EXsgM4ecDfM2BCt1A
it sounds so much different than the 9 too
did you try taking off the cap and seeing if theres anything that needs to be cleaned out of it or something
no
took all the caps off and the board covering thing off
nothing that needs to be cleaned
take the keyboard apart take out the pcb unsolder and resolder the switch and put it together again ez

I took it apart as far as I could do it
the switch doesn't come off as far as I could tell
@wispy lava moving here to get out of gen chat. what cpu do you have
Is a Ryzen 5 3600, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max, G.Skill Ripjaws 32gb DDR4-3200, and GTX 1060GB gonna be good?
No, the 1060 is from my old build and I bought it for 80 from a friend prolly 2 months back
ah then thats good
@ripe wedge go AMD lmao
yeah that sounds like a solid build
@stoic island eh ive been thinking about it but idk
Bro
intel has higher resale
Sweet, thanks. 😀
if needed
3700x+b450+good aircooler is 450$
Things I never even consider when build a rig ... resale.
well you never know plus I know one day I will decide enough games prolly
Because in the future, this generation will be looked at better for AMD
It's never once concerned me ...hmm, what can I get for this later.
Today Intel resells better because a few generations ago, Intel was still better
AMD was trusted for a long time
It's the last concern I have about building.
Until bulldozer
@little osprey I know obviously a pc will loose a lot of value over time but intel has always stayed higher
intel doesnt drop prices
like if you wanted a new i7-7700k its still expensive
That's not even what I'm saying. It's not a car, I don't care at all about resale.
my AMD duel core is on it's last leg with the 960 GPU
I literally dont have any lights in my pc but I'm looking to add some, trying to do a black and white theme, any ideas on what I should get?
rgb strips?
I was looking at those, how do they work?
there should be some rgb headers or light headers on your mobo
which you can plug them into
if your computer is slightly more modern
if its a bit on the older side then I have no clue
SATA to RGB hub
yeah my current mobo is pretty old (Intel DP55KG) but I'm going to invest in lights once I get my new build together
@zealous epoch then do you plug the rgb strips into the hub?
Rgb fans?
1 sec i will link a pic
Rgb fans look better imo
ThreeBulls PWM Fan Hub, PC CPU Cooling 4 PIN/3PIN Fan Power Cable Hub Splitter Adapter Sleeved PWM Case Fan Splitter for 12V Desktop Computer Cooler Case Fans 1 to 5 Way (10.5 Inch)
i think if its a short strip they look good, when they're wrapped all the way around I don't think they look that good
Yeah especially the adhesive ones
I'm probably gonna get a strip and some fans
Yeah if u do get strips get the magnetic ones
Yeah, it’s better to have them hidden then visible
And make sure the lights defuse evenly so no rgb spots show up
Like have some room
Yeah when you see the dots it looks weird, I think with my case ill be able to hide them and just the lights will look good
and just the lights ray (?) i guess, will show
Yeah that’s clean
👍 Thanks
No problem
every time i add to cart go to buy..item sold out. PC gods hate me
Robey, yikes
Hi guys, is it good choice with HP 27mx monitor for gaming?
UGH. Tonight I had an incredibly frustrating discussion with Mom. We're switching away from DSL to fiber optic and I off handedly mentioned we'd have to return the DSL modem when we cancel. She seems convinced the black tower is related to our phone service and wouldn't believe me when I told her it's the modem/router.
Doesn't have a tag from the DSL company...
And the other tower that she thinks is also part of the phone service is a UPS battery backup the ISP provided so our Internet doesn't instantly die just because the power blinks off for a little while.
They should have tags on them, that should be evidence enough
Ugh. I'm taking classes to learn this stuff, you'd think she'd know that I'm familiar with what I'm talking about.
(Yes, the modem has a tag from AT&T on it. I'm also pretty sure they'll want their UPS backup back, since they provided it in the first place.)
Well
Ahh, had to read that all again, sorry. Well, when she gets the bill that might help her believe you
Does she know about cellphone towers
This might go better in electronics over build
thanks @wary tundra prolly right. 👍
yw
What level do I need to be to be a regular
3
oh boy I'm almost there
should I use a 1650s or 970?
a wot
1650s or 970
ohh
as in nvidia cards?
well you said you already had a 970
yes politeioi
I'd shoot for something a bit higher end tbh
One of the best budget cards in my opinion is the 1660s but may not be in your price range
agreed
agreed
Anyone will to help me with a build on a budget? Newbie here
Lol
instand of the other thing
@analog hearth Why you didnt like my pc
@little osprey thanks
That cable management tho
Lmao I saw
Stupid Asrock RGB control! I can't get any color but red on my B450 Fata!ity Gaming k4.
Icue works, Aura Sync works (usually), Asrock? Nada
@foggy hazel hi naed, some kid in another discord told me that my GPU which is a gts 1650 super won't bring out the full potential of my CPU with is a ryzen 5 3600 so is that true?
hello, i need some help
If you say your question people are more likely to respond
i want to get a new laptop, one that can handle secondlife for a a few years
@normal mortar for gaming yeah
@normal mortar due to what Gamers Nexus call overhead, the Ryzen CPUs can have a lower theoretical limit of how far they can push top end gpus like a 2080ti, but I doubt the fps difference between a 1650 Super with an R5 3600 or an i9 10900k would be noticeable to the user.
but gpu is really easy to upgrade so
@normal mortar ik I'm not naed but he's been rather busy lately. What tasks are you using your system for? Because your not really gonna bottleneck your cpu with that gpu.
@buoyant flame i just wanna use my new PC for playing GTA 5 ok
that's all i want
can i still play GTA 5 with a R5 3600 cpu and a gts 1650
@normal mortar absolutely
If you can spare another 80 or so dollars a 1660 super would be a good deal but it is still possible with the 1650
gosh another $80 and i'd become a bum living on the streets
Then dw about it
The 1650 Super will be the performance bottleneck in your system, you wouldn't notice the framerate or framtime difference if you put a 10900k in there with a gtx 1650 super.
Still not bad
i feel really bad about this now
cause i feel like i should've tried to spend more
.....
nah
1650s is good price for performance
you couldn't have
as I said
sure it'd be better if you spend 80$ more, but thats with any build xD
@SouL13urneR#226 Your gameplay is going to be fine, you'll get 60fps at high details all day long with that combo
you would be ready for an upgrade soon :))
dont feel bad, i know nothng about laptops
Dw your fine
like later this year or maybe sometime next year
Nothing wrong with it
when new cards come out
no need to upgrade next year either
ok maybe i'll save money and try to upgrade to a better GPU one day
i think everyone is hoping for price drops with 3000s nvidia
i used my stimulus check on this build guys

minimun gta v reqs?
@normal mortar you’re not an idiot
it is the mininmum requirements for second life
nothing wrong with it...
@fast dust oh thank you yams
nah i just felt really bad cause another kid in a different discord told me that your GPU should always be more expensive than the CPU
and i felt bad cause i didn't do that
have you heard of APU's
It just means your CPU is more powerful and you won’t have to upgrade it for a while
lmao
^
0$ gpu budget
$90 cpu budget
still recommended for < 400$ builds
ok thanks ya'll i feel a lil better now about my current gpu and cpu set up
not always
GPU more expensive in CPU only really applies in higher budgets
800$+ for the pc
ya but i didn't wanna use my full stimulus check on a $1,000 + pc build.....
gotta save some money for bills and food too ya know
so i guess i shouldn't feel bad as long as i still have a mid-range gaming pc right?
Yes
@stoic island hey is a 2019 amd ryzen 3600 still much more better than an intel core i-7 3770 from like 2012?
Yes lmao
i only asked cause the intel core cpu i have is an i-7
@normal mortar IF it was a 3770K, and IF you delidded it and used liquid Metal, and IF you put it on a beefy z87 mobo with an awesome cooling solution, and IF you won the silicon lottery and you got it to 4.7Ghz stable... You'd be about even with a stock 3600
@slate ice whoah! that's a lot of work to get it on the same level as a stock 3600. i think i'll pass
Yup
I would sell it for around 80$
c o r e s
@slate ice so i'm assuming i'm jumping to a very big upgrade then since the PC i own right now has a 3rd gen core i-7 3770 from like 2012 right?
t h r e a d s
@normal mortar oh yes, quite noticeable.
you might not notice too much for day to day tasks, but in any heavy loads yeah
i always thought that if a cpu from like 2012 says core i-7 it would always be better than a newer amd 3 or amd 5 since the number on the intel cpu is i-7 and 7 is always a higher number lol
@next kestrel, yeah but drop an m.2 drive into the mobo (which you can't do on a z77 or 87), and even day to day feels like you're on a starship by comparison.
@normal mortar i7 doesn't mean anything :P it can be 8 years old, or recently released, 4 cores 4 threads, 6 cores 6 threads, 8 cores 8 threats, 6 core 12 threads, etc etc
what does the cores and threads mean btw
that's something idk what it does but i'm guessing if it has a higher thread number and higher core number it's better?
First, older CPUs only have 1 thread per core, but newer CPUs with hyperthreading has 2 thread per core
so what do the thread and hyperthreading do?
each thread does the calculations for everything a CPU does
different workloads take different amount of threads to do
so if a program starts freezing up or lagging that means there isn't enough threads?
A core is a physical structure inside the silicon wafer of the CPU made of millions of transistors in a specific arrangement in order to perform computations according to predefined instruction sets.
Not really
so basically the job of threading is to tell the computer what to do then?
like if i open a program it tells the pc to open that program?
A thread is a sequence of instructions being performed, a core with 2 threads can execute two instruction streams simultaneously.
Kinda, on a single core, single thread CPU, If there are multiple processes hapening in the PC, then the stream of instructions will contain resource requests and instructions regarding all the programs. The CPU will have to switch back and forth beween two programs needs in one single stream of instructions. Like juggling two balls one handed. If there are two threads, then you have 2 hands to juggle with.
can i install another m.2 ssd pcie on a atx motherboard? i already have 1 but i want to add another for more space
You can, but depending on the board it may take up some PCIE lanes you're already using @bold rune
my board is a asrock b365 pro4
@slate ice do you know a good install video i can use as a guide for the fractal design focus g case
cause i have no idea wtf i'm doing when my parts arrive
There's a pretty decent build guide from Linis Tech Tips from last year. It doesn't have that case but it's a good overview.
wat's the video call
"No dollar wasted PC Build guide"
if my cousin is gonna get a pc for liek $600 from walmart is it better for him to just order parts online and build one himself for the same price?
like is it possible to do a build for $600 that would be way better than a walmart desktop pc?
@normal mortar it is definitely possible to build better than a prebuilt at almost any given pricepoint
Currently though, parts are pretty hard to come by.
Unless you go used
Black Friday you can sometimes get prebuilts better than normal just bc deals
even used tbh
But black Friday parts are also cheaper so
mostly oos
the thing that sux about ordering parts online is some charge you for shipping as well.....
i hate amazon cuz they always charge me shipping since i don't have prime lol
lol
Lol I don't have prime so wegg

my brother bought prime and used it like 8 times in 1 month
my entire family ig
but lmao we got our money's worth
guys do u think i can run call of duty on a gtx 1650
@next kestrel my moniter i ordered has a 1ms time thing idk what it's call
uhh go to windows and search for display options/settings
or how much did it cost?
if it was expensive >200$ prob a 144hz monitor
cant tell if 60 or 75
def not 144 tho
go to specifications
can u see specificatins now
oof 100$ is prob 60hz
whats the model name
@normal mortar you prob want to edit out your name and where you live on that screenshot
dun wrry ill just delete it lol
@normal mortar this PC is $599 at walmart, you could easily build a better PC for that price
this is why I like newegg better :P
It's 60hz TN panel
all I wanted to know about it
is 60hz bad
well as long as it works then i'm happy
hey i have a question
so the PSU i ordered idk if it has a wall outlet electric adaptor which i can use to connect to the PSU onto the wall outlet
do i need to buy the wall outlet electric power supply cable separetely?
yeah it further solidifies your gpu choice
no need to get 100 frames if your monitor can't handle it
nope it should come with the psu
unless you bought a used one without any cables or something
hello is there any one here that built a pc in 2015 wondering cuz in 2015 through to 2020 i had a 3 year warranty on my mother board and it got shocked so the warranty gave me a free return to manufacturer to re unshock it from electricity then in 2020 i found out one of the pins i had 2 on my graphics card wasnt lighting up took it to a pc store right away he said the mother board was shocked again so im thinking well my question is the new mother boards in 2020 using better parts and also anti shock for the new mother boards in 2020 the thing is though back in 2015 and even on pc part picker it was highly rated till this day
Jeez... you need some commas man
commas bad
I had a stroke
pog
My monitor was 250
ASUS 23.8 in. IPS panel 144hz 1ms response time
pretty decent price
fuggin wack
sorry
yea
Does it need a bios update ?
yes
yes
unless the b450 was recently manufactured with a recent enough bios version
you'd have to checkthe boxx wehen it gets here
there I mean
Damm dont i need another cpu for that ?
no I don't think so
Because its going to be my first build and i dont have another cpu to update the bios lol
you have to download the bios update on to a usb then boot it up from there
I think if you give it power, download the BIOS update on a flash drive, plug it in, you should be good
but it has to have some kind of indicator telling you it's done
Idk if ASUS motherboards have that
I know MSI does
Or should i just go with a ryzen 5 2600
nah stick with 3600
Ok
Hey guys I just installed a new set of ddr4 ram replaced my 16gb with a 32gb and it’s not booting?
The lights on it are on and stuff but my pc isn’t posting
The cx 550w is back in stock
I think
That nightreaper guy could get that instead to save some money
Witch one ?
On newegg?
It's on Newegg and Amazon
I wouldn't get that tbh
Or should i stick with the other one ?
It boots but it won’t let me set it to the correct ram speed
It’ll boot on the auto but when I switch it to 3600mhz on bios it won’t boot
Does your motherboard support it?
Yes
I tried at 3200mhz and it booted
ok
Why does it not boot at 3600mhz as advertised?
So I was doing a case swap, and the case fans on my new one only have gigabyte argb headers but I have an Asus board. What do I do about this?
Ok now it won’t even boot w
The only way I can boot my new ram is by setting it to auto
I keep hovering over the order button, but seems the MB goes out of stock so much the prices fluxuate and back out of stock...and the price goes well over 100 over the original price... can order from another place.... but i dunno...
@waxen finch Did you buy 3600MHz rated memory?
NP. A little late, but I am at work 😛
@buoyant flame, seems like you have regular RGB headers, and need to use the ARGB connector your fans have? Unfortunately they're 12v vs 5v, so you will need a converter, or a separate ARGB controller.
Something like this for the converter:
https://www.newegg.com/deepcool-rgb-convertor-black/p/1W8-00JK-00030
Or this for the controller:
https://www.newegg.com/fractal-design-fd-acc-adj-r1-bk-rgb-controller-color-modes-preset-color-choose-from-eight-pres/p/N82E16811991013?Description=ARGB controller&cm_re=ARGB_controller-_-11-991-013-_-Product
Ok thanks ill have to buy a converter
So just to be clear tho, I will lose the argb functionality of the fans? @normal brook
Unfortunately with the converter, yes.
If you can find an ARGB controller that connects to to your motherboard via a USB header, that would allow you to keep the ARGB functionality.
@buoyant flame Looks like this Cooler Master controller has that capability:
https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-mfy-rcsn-nnudk-r1-black/p/N82E16811999379?cm_sp=SearchSuccess-_-INFOCARD-_-ARGB+controller-_-9SIA50MBB17658-_-2&Description=ARGB+controller
But it's out of stock.
This one too, but its expensive and only has 4 ports: https://store.asus.com/us/item/201809AM200000001/A45974-ASUS-ROG-Aura-Terminal-Addressable-RGB-Controller
Other ASUS Official Store | Free Shipping and Financing Available ASUS ROG Aura Terminal Addressable RGB Controller, ROG Aura Terminal Addressable RGB Controller features four-ports, Includes Three (3) Addressable RGB Magnetic Backed Lighting Strips
Well thats a real bummer but I guess I'll wait for it to be back in stock. Thanks again
My case did come with an included controller but I assume that means there will be no way to connect it to my mobo to controll it via software right?@normal brook
Hey guys! I have just received a pc from newegg today, but unfortunately it freezes up everytime you boot it up. I can start it in safe mode without any issues. Is there somebody that knows what to do here? I would appreciate any help I can get 🙂
It works perfectly fine in safemode?
From what I have seen yes, I ran it for like 5+ mins without crashing, whilst normal crashes after 5 seconds
If that's the case, it is likely a driver issue.
I would download all the latest drivers for your computer and install them while in safemode.
Then restart and see if that fixes the issue. @late mountain
@buoyant flame What case do you have? It could very well be capable of the same thing.
@normal brook how do I get the latest drivers without having internet in safemode?
Is this your one and only computer?
You can either boot into safemode with networking, or you will have to find another computer.
should i upgrade my 2133 16gb of ram?
should i upgrade my 2133 16gb of ram?
@shadow orchid Sure, why not
but to what speeds?
its a MSI M5 Z270 i7 7700k
@shadow orchid, while you have slower memory 16 GB is plenty. You can try overclocking your memory for better performance, but if you're looking at getting a whole new kit the $100 you would spend on it, won't give you that much performance increase.
What I am trying to say is, it's a lot of money for not THAT much gain.
Especially if you overclock your current memory.
kk
Your motherboard can support higher MHz RAM if you do decide to upgrade. It's more of a financial question than a technical one
You could always sell your current RAM to compensate, if you're thinking of doing a direct replacement
thats true
Actually, your processor might not support higher RAM
Intel system? Don’t bother upgrading unless you want more RAM
Intel CPUs don’t rely as much on faster memory
k
@normal brook thanks for your info... unfortunately I started to reinstall windows, but now you cant even boot up bios or anything
@late mountain Seems a lot more serious than just a driver issue then. Can you provide a link to the computer you got?
@late mountain At this point you might consider an RMA through Newegg support. It should work out of the box. Drivers are one thing, but hardware diagnostic on a computer you just purchased is another thing.
Shipping can jar things on occasion, so if you can re-seat the ram and graphics card without voiding any warranties and it still does it, RMA it ASAP.
@normal brook ABS Rogue H - Intel i5 9600K - GeForce RTX 2070 Super - 16GB DDR4 - 512GB SSD - Gaming Desktop PC
this is the pc
(cant send a link here)
@normal brook yeah i am considering returning the item... its a shame that it doesnt work... I waited around 3 weeks for it to come
You should return it and build the same computer yourself, probably save some money that way too
I was too lazy to build it
@snow lagoon Depends on the price. A lot of things are hard to get your hands on for anything near a good deal.
thats why I bought a prebuilt
Right now at least.
Right now that is true, damn quaratine
@normal brook right now it basically starts up, tries to load the "new" windows, then crashes with an error
probably because it froze earlier during the new windows install
Not hardware.
are you sure? doesnt seem like a windows error to me
because then both windows versions wouldve been bad
Well, it could be ram or something like that still.
or something
I would really like to see what the errors are.
It's likely you will get a generic crash blue screen error.
I can walk you through a fresh installation of windows if you want.
thats what I tried to do
this is a new windows
The error:
"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation."
but sure, if you think a fresh installation will solve it, I am up for it
I PM'd you btw.
need a build for 500 buck got the gpu already
Actually would do https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HKPYYH
B/C I don't like gigabyte. Micro atx boards tho, cause prices are wack
Tho you could do Asus ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING for $130
@little leaf
Same quality from Gig, lower price, and actual customer service that does something, js
Please do not get the plus gaming version of that board
Pro gaming is significantly better for the same price
I used ASUS for 15 years, 10 years ago I switched to Giga and have never had a bad board personally. -shrugs-
I've seen some bios issues, but that's a matter of updating the bios.
Nothing wrong with gigabyte boards imo
They make some good ones
Not overly fond with their rgb software but thats not rly a deciding factor when choosing a good board lol
Yeah, RGB Fusion is crap.
Aura sync isn't that great either imo. Idk why they can't just make something that works and stick with it
They've done harder things
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
They should just let corsair handle the rgb software
Corsair icue only works for corsair products tho which is annoying, but ya if they made one that was compatible with everything that would be awesome
I will +1 on the Gigabyte boards. Never had a problem with one. Unlike ASUS, MSI and Corsair.
Corsair board?

Haha my bad I was thinking Biostar
So with my HydroX Loop, I get peaks of 80-90 C when stress tested. Do you all think it's worth replacing the stock TIM with some new thermal paste? I have some cheap TM30 paste lying around, but I'd buy something else if it offers better thermal transfer
90c on a custom loop of your caliber? Ya I would change the paste
I'm just thinking it's the thermal paste b/c my coolent stays below 45 C, even with peak CPU temps, and my gpu stays steady at around 40, even with it being the second one
Any recommendations for thermal paste
Or is some Corsair TM30 good stuff
Nt-h2 >:D is good
Think the thermal grizzly stuff is the best, their paste not liquid metal
Alright. I'll do some research
Looking like I can expect about 2 degrees lower with grizzly (over TM30)
This is seriously useful: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/thermal-paste-comparison,5108-8.html
Yay nt-h1 is up there
Nt-h2 was basically a refresh
Now I don't have to feel bad for reccomending Noctua paste
I think I'll buy some thermal grizzly
I can use up my tm30 on some low-end workstations
Kryonaut is pretty damn good from the looks of it, but Noctua is still pretty close behind
Always a
fanboy I am
I don't like their prices and asthetics tho
:arctic 😦
Like I'll just go for some f14s for cheap if I don't want rgb
I just built my first PC and have only come across one issue. My motherboard doesn't register my second RAM in the DIMMA2 slot but the RGB lights up on it though. Any one have any thoughts or recommendations?
Make sure it's seated correctly
Switch the sticks
Yeah, I've heard good things
Singular Noctua fans arnt good price because all higher end fans arnt good price per unit
But the price for heatsinks aren't cheap either
Like 20$ ml120, 20$ pure wings 2, 20$ f14
Well they are decent for what you get
D15 at a bit less than 90 is good
U12S doesn't have great price to perf, but it's still good for 60$
Man, this thermal grizzly stuff is like over twice the price of tm30
Yeah, Imma have to see how I like maintaining this loop
I'm hoping it isn't too high maintenance
I mean Noctua nt-h2 isn't that expensive when I bought it ;)
I mean, if you compare it to how much my loop costs lol, I don't really have a right to complain about price to performance
You get what you pay for.
If you want good fans for pice/performance, buy the 5 pack of Arctic P12/P14s
Like $90 vs $900
If you want the best of the best, get Noctua nf a12x25's at $30 a piece
@celest horizon arnt f12/f14 made more for case fan
Kinda, they're an older design
Don't fixate on "these are airflow optimized" too much
Alright
The specs vs the prior gen F12 / F14 and Bionix: Arctic page: https://www.arctic.ac/us_en/products...an/p-fans.html P12 PWM specs: https://gzhls.at/blo
Also, know any programs that test ram without having to be booted from usb?
TL;DR - the P12/P14 use a redesigned motor/bearing that' sjust quieter
lol ya, memtest86, HCI memtest
oh
That's the problem xD
I mean, tbh it's just more convenient to test memory outside of windows
I like having a copy of my bios on my usb
Since ram OC can bork your windows install
And that's a pita if you care about your daily driver windows install at all
Anyways I linked my games crashing to my ram oc
You could create a multiboot usb
How ..?
If using bios flash back, need to format the drive fat32 and put nothing else on the drive
Just a warning I'm too lazy to do it now so I'm likely to rationalize why not to do it
Huh really?
Buy a ch341a to flash bios
I've had my usb on NTFS this whole time
And it flashbacks fine
Depends on the board
What ever happened to cheaper AMD boards?
There are no A420's or A520's.
The cheapest AMD boards are $70 for the 3000 series now.
You used to be able to get cheap boards for $30-50 sometimes.
there are still boards that cheap, just gotta find b450s that are 3000 ready
right now theres a shortage as pc parts are in high demand
Is that all it is?
so prices are raised as well
I didn't think the B450's went that cheap.
yeah. i got an x470 that will accept 3000 series for 60 bucks
Woah, that's a great price.
What board?
I've got the ASUS X470-F Gaming.
It was 160.
I am super stoked the x470's have the potential for supporting 4000 series processors now.
at the time it retailed for 120
Ahh yeah, the white one right?
I almost got that one too.
i like it a lot lol
I ended up liking the looks of my current board better that's the only reason I went with it.
Motherboards IMO are the last thing I look towards improving.
the rog?
But they have to look nice.
i've probably replaced my mobo more than anything else. my needs kept changing lol.
and yeah I wanted that one but they only had the x570 equivelant and it was like 180
The x570 boards are a waste.
The x470's can support the PCIe 4.0 speeds.
They should have allowed board manufacturers to up the speed as long as they met the criteria.
obviously don't want any fires cause of small trace sizes. xD
eh. they have their benefits from what I understand but I was fully willing to go b450 but they didnt have any that fit my needs lol.
I buy parts pretty much only from microcenter when I can
Newegg is great but i don't like waiting for shipping, and if things go wrong I gotta wait so much longer to RMA so i buy my pc parts locally whenever possible 😛
I had a laptop arrive DOA and complained that I needed that laptop for work, so they shipped me my replacement before getting my old one back.
im impatient lol
Yeah.
Same.
I wish I had a Micro Center near me.
I would be there all the time.
We have Fry's but they're obviously going out of business.
i used to go like at least once every month or 2 before the pandemic
according to htem theyre not, they had a supplier issue
the supplier shut down and they had no way to get stock, but supposedly they are now working with a new supplyer
no techies are people who have been recognized by mods and admin to know their stuff, help people when they can, and are not rude about things
and no i didnt, im not sure who kyle is lol
Those are words you say when you're covering something up.
It was before the corona pandemic mind you.
The guy who runs the Bitwit channel on youtube,
Can this pc stream on twitch? I been streaming on my laptop, its good for recording ingame resolution 1080p and output UHD 4k 60fps short 25-minute gameplays with a high bit rate of great quality. The gl75 9sdk MSI laptop is also perfect for youtube streaming but on twitch I lose connection. I was wondering if this desktop I blew compressed air to make it look like new, will work for streaming.
@open brook I think you would do fine if you got yourself one of those video capture devices.
thank you for the fast reply i will now put away my laptop
just make sure you use the nvenc encoding
It's still a pretty relevant PC.
plazey are you talking about the video he posted about frys?
Could Fry's Electronics really be in THIS much trouble?

Yeah.
theres been a few things put out there already that confirms it was a supplier issue. they could still go under because of it but last i heard they said they weren't going under and have found a new supplier
but losing a supplier for that long is a good way to kill a business lol
They've been having "stock" issues for like 7-8 months.
I mean this pandemic really hasn't helped those numbers.
But those are the numbers.
Back in September of last year.
well yeah, that has to do with the supplier issues. If i recall, their main supplier went out of business, which left them with no way to get stock.
Sometimes I wish I could have someone else to do the work I don't want to do.
like what?
I developed an ETL process at work. And am now writing the code for dashboards on the recent rows transferred.
It's a simple email that automatically get's sent out to everyone in a distribution group.
They can click a link, and it brings them to a page that tells them deeper numbers.
sounds fun lol
Yeah. :/
The SQL is where I am struggling.
It's not in my Job Title, but I'm the only person to do any DBA type work.
thoughts on this major upgrade? Ive already got a gpu which im considering upgrading a few months after this
im not a coder so I couldn't help ya there. I know very little lol
the system is really good, you can get a cheaper AIO and RAM unless you really want em. I wont stop you lol
nothing on that pc would be bad spec though
the only thing im not sure on is the MOBO. not saying its bad i just legit don't know if its good or bad. Not familiar with it
TBH, the CPU and GPU aren't balanced.
It shows that you already purchased the GPU, but if you're doing gaming, you would have been way better off taking some money away from the CPU and getting a better GPU.
well no but he already has the gpu and said hed be upping later
Oh, I didn't notice that.
i think he deleted it
Also, the WD Black is a better drive. Instead of that weird Team brand.
It's like $20 more.
that nvme is considered good actually
And it's one of the fastest PCIe 3.0 drives out there right now.
like apparently its suprisingly good for price
some others reccomend that nvme over the black sn750 cause price to perf.
i got my sn750 for 20$ off tho 😛
It's only $150.
I don't trust that Team Group brand.
It seems to have come out of nowhere.
They look amazing.
Idk I’ve boughten a lot of out of nowhere brand and sometimes they good. People have said it’s good and the people who told me that I trust 😛
The supposed 20% increase in IPC.
Anyways I’m off. Night
I know bruh
Night man.
I read up about them
Night
And they said they are better than what they expected
Plus the more time I wait the bigger my budget gets
That and Amphere.
T_T
50%+/- supposed improvement?
They're talking a 3060 is supposed to be like a 2080 super is.
That would destroy AMD's recent improvements.
Reasons I run Red/Green
Me too. 😛
@little osprey maybe go for a more quality motherboard for the future and overclocking such a nice chip. Also for 3300 you could probably get a cpu rad to reduce noise
I specifically have chosen to use Air instead of liquid.
And the problem with the motherboard is I'm not willing to go X570, so that leaves me very few choices for overclocking, even less so when it comes to ones in stock.
Basically only the Crosshair VII Hero, which is currently going for $400
I think you're right though, if I'm paying this much I should get the better motherboard, no matter the price.
and it's updated
thanks for the input @keen scaffold
At least it's a nice air cooler
I have the stock amd cooler. It tries real hard but if I really wanna make my system quieter it's a new gpu fan
I got it to 4.1ghz at 1.425 volts and the thing gets toasty
R5 2600
Good little cpu
Can last up to a 2070 maybe a super if you're 100%
Gaming
2060
Is cable mod the best/only option for custom psu cables?
I would say the best. idk about "only"
They're expensive tho 💸
indeed
They cost almost as much as the psu lol
Has anyone used a 80mm 360 rad, is it worth switching from a 30mm? I have st30 360 alpha cool and 240 as well
80mm pretty much overkill tbh, id go for a 45mm one instead to save like $50
well i want quiet as much as possible and 2x 30mm one 360 and one 240 still seam kinda loud even with noctua nf12s
why cant i put pcpart picker list?
you need to be lvl 3 to post links
run about 1000rpm ish i want best cooling for quietness
okay

is this good?
if i can even fit a 80mm and fans in this case
@deep skiff
is it for gaming?
yes 1080p ultra at 144hz
if you have a microcenter near you? they have motherboard cpu combo discount
b450 only will go up to 3950x so u know
to start i'd probably get a windows key or ebay or another place like that, you can get them for under $10 and they work fine
oh okay
you gonna upgrade any more in future or staying w/ that 3700x
i wont upgrade for 5 years
cause b450 dead in water board no more upgrade path
id just get 3900x then, its not much more now i think right
isn't 12 cores a bit too much?
i mean price, but wait for 3000 to come out before building
i can't wait anymore 🥺
for gaming i'd rather get a top tier gpu than cpu, better performance for the price
i haven't played any games in like 3 months already
well 3700x isnt too bad
id try n get atleast gold
there is a 80+ gold corsair 750W
im making a pcpartpicker link rn on changes
@deep skiff ty ❤️
you dont have to stick to corsair, i like it but theres sesonic or something thats the main company right?
that pretty much makes all the guts?
so you dont need the windows key correct?
the only other company available here is gamidas for psu
so you dont need the windows key correct?
@deep skiff no i have that
gamidas has pretty crappy psu
lots of ppl been using evga too
you don't have alot of choices in the third world
jeez psu up in prices.. or thats damn 3rd party ill look into it
prob dont need more than 750
okay so heres what i came up with, might be a little higher than the other one https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bVDXq3
the 2080ti is super expensive!!!!
whats the price for you?
yas useless for gpu
like 2000 dollars
oh jeez its like half of that
1100 cheapest in usa
yeah they just bump the price up hard
what country do you live in?
Nepal
i can't afford the 2080ti
its the 2080 super
well if its super expensive i'd drop it to the 2080 super
yea 2080 ti is kinda overkill for 1080p, was trying to make something near the budget but its fine to drop it down if its overpriced
will the 3600 be good in the new call of duty?
I had a quick question, if I have one SSD for OIS (with the OS installed), how do I allocate everything else to the huge SSD? I finished my build last night, but struggling with software now.
if you can find tomahawk motherboard for b450 thats best you can get for it
i mean the b450-a pro and the tomahawk max have the same vrm
plus the tomahawk max is 100 more dollars for some rbg lighting and usb c feature
@signal drift tomahawk only has vrms and bios flashback with usb going for it, it was hyped because it worked well with ryzen 3000 when it first came out, its kinda meh now
ok
doesnt have super good io for the price, and all the new stock of b450 should have a bios ready for ryzen 3000
yea
what should i get for 100 more dollars?
3600 is the sweet spot for price/performance
oh yeah, which one is good?
970 evo plus?
whats wrong with the nvme?
his is ssd not m.2 he listed
Team MP34 512 this is not available
only samsung nvme ssd are available
and crucial too
mp34 is in stock at newegg
he lives in nepal
i mean what u price for main drive?"
does newegg not do international?
i mean what u price for main drive?"
@signal drift i didn't understand
does newegg not do international?
@sullen spoke it does but not in nepal
I need help
with extra 100 what is your most youd pay for ssd or m.2?
I need a GPU for a i3 2100
oh that sucks
i can pay 160$ at most
for a new ssd
if i replace the current one and get a 3600
Well, that's all I have can someone help?
I just wanna play mc on 24 chunks
@vague vector what budget
150$
1650 super
@little osprey what stores are near you that can get parts from?
Bruh
@signal drift its mostly local stores. no international ones 😅
you cant really upgrade the cpu in the budget, best would be to upgrade the gpu and then cpu later
Yeah
1050 ti are usually overpriced, for cheaper i'd say rx 570/80 on ebay
yeah
if your gonna game id get a m.2 atleast 1tb os and gaming m.2s came down in price alot equal to ssds
if your gonna game id get a m.2 atleast 1tb os and gaming m.2s came down in price alot equal to ssds
@signal drift this is to me?
no tobi
K
I'm usually confused with old hardware
I also have a scrap pc with g33 graphics

back to the ssd, if you cant get the inland id go for a p1 1tb
i thought he coulnt buy from newegg or am i just unsmart

Can someone walk me though this? I have one tiny SSD for OIS (with the OS installed on it now), how do I allocate everything else to the huge SSD? I finished my build last night, but struggling with software now.
there are clone software you can get
but id do a fresh install tbh, if you have things you need to save copy them to a regular drive if you have a disc one, dload windows to usb
I did a fresh install, everything is new.
it will be better
well if its already fresh install, just reinstall but to new drive, delete partition on the smaller
reflect an image of your pc
...........?!
copy/clone isnt always perfect best for fresh install
if you had like more into it then clone, but just reinstall
I followed Box's instructions from a few weeks ago, it's how to partition that's driving me batty
how is windows on disc or usb
OS is on the tiny drive, fresh install with USB
restart and go to bios, then select under boot to usb drive
.................
under install menu delete the smaller drive and create new on bigger drive
You have issues understand partitions?
@sudden turret
Both. OS is on the tiny drive as per instructions, but computer isn't acknowledging the larger drive, so I don't know how to tell all the games to install there.
oooh
the games are not installed on other drive because you need to go into disc managment and assign drive
so you have a big drive, with no partition, drive label to it, correct?
search bar disc management
