i always dust my stuff though

#

like once or twice a week

vivid flint

then youll most likely be fine, just keep aware of dust and try to keep debris out of the case as much as possible

can anyone help me with a motherboard recommendation based on what i have so far?

little leaf
#

@cursive lantern what parts do you have?

cursive lantern
#

@little leaf intel xeon e3-1230 for cpu. 500gb sata drive 6.0gb/s. 2 sticks of ddr3, 500W evga power supply, asus nvidia geforce gtx660ti direct cu ii

little leaf
#

is that parts you have already or stuff you gonna buy because if you buying that stuff don't

cursive lantern
#

i already bought. i was putting together a cheap build

The 3700X is practically always on sale

It's basically a contest between three vendors to see who can push Ryzen prices down the hardest

How important or useful is liquid cooling?

On a CPU

PRETTY IMOORTNAT-ESPECIALLY IF YOU INTEND ON OVERCLOCKING

Sorry for the all caps

Water isn't always better than air cooling tho

A lot of OC can be done without it.

I'm a full 1. over on AC and can go almost another 1. higher

I intend no over clocking .. thanks 🙏 this was very helpful

what would a good motherboard that is not too expensive be for a ryzen 3 3300x

its a semi decent board at $70-75 so i cant really complain

Wattage?

deep skiff

450W for $70 and 650W for $85

stoic island
#

cx650 is 85$

#

450 I don't think will support 580

#

580 takes 8+6 PCIe power iirc

#

and 450 only has 1 pcie power connector

stoic island

some 580's just take 8 pin 🤔

noble edge

This is newegg chat 💀💀 oops i thought i was in techsources chat for a sec

deep skiff
#

idk why they made them with 8+6 if they work with 8

stoic island

I think 4gb take 8

#

8gb takes 8+6, but I might be wrong

@wispy lava moving here to get out of gen chat. what cpu do you have

ripe wedge
#

what you guys think?

signal scroll
#

Is a Ryzen 5 3600, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max, G.Skill Ripjaws 32gb DDR4-3200, and GTX 1060GB gonna be good?

ripe wedge
#

@signal scroll are you paying full price for the 1060?

#

what are you paying for it?

signal scroll
#

No, the 1060 is from my old build and I bought it for 80 from a friend prolly 2 months back

ripe wedge
#

ah then thats good

stoic island
#

@ripe wedge go AMD lmao

ripe wedge
#

yeah that sounds like a solid build

#

@stoic island eh ive been thinking about it but idk

stoic island
#

Bro

ripe wedge
#

intel has higher resale

signal scroll
#

Sweet, thanks. 😀

ripe wedge
#

if needed

stoic island
#

That's 700$ for a CPU Mobo cooler combo

#

3600 + b450 + good aircooler is 350$

ripe wedge
#

yea I suppose but I want a upgrade from what I already have lol

#

a for sure upgrade

stoic island
#

3700x+b450+good aircooler is 450$

little osprey
#

Things I never even consider when build a rig ... resale.

stoic island
#

...

#

I'd think AMD resales better

ripe wedge
#

well you never know plus I know one day I will decide enough games prolly

stoic island
#

Because in the future, this generation will be looked at better for AMD

little osprey
#

It's never once concerned me ...hmm, what can I get for this later.

stoic island
#

Today Intel resells better because a few generations ago, Intel was still better

ripe wedge
#

yea I suppose but intel has been trusted

#

for a long time

stoic island
#

AMD was trusted for a long time

little osprey
#

It's the last concern I have about building.

stoic island
#

Until bulldozer

ripe wedge
#

@little osprey I know obviously a pc will loose a lot of value over time but intel has always stayed higher

#

intel doesnt drop prices

#

like if you wanted a new i7-7700k its still expensive

little osprey
#

That's not even what I'm saying. It's not a car, I don't care at all about resale.

zealous epoch
#

my AMD duel core is on it's last leg with the 960 GPU

signal scroll
#

I literally dont have any lights in my pc but I'm looking to add some, trying to do a black and white theme, any ideas on what I should get?

ripe wedge
#

rgb strips?

signal scroll
#

I was looking at those, how do they work?

ripe wedge
#

there should be some rgb headers or light headers on your mobo

#

which you can plug them into

#

if your computer is slightly more modern

#

if its a bit on the older side then I have no clue

zealous epoch
#

SATA to RGB hub

signal scroll
#

yeah my current mobo is pretty old (Intel DP55KG) but I'm going to invest in lights once I get my new build together

#

@zealous epoch then do you plug the rgb strips into the hub?

waxen finch
#

Rgb fans?

signal scroll
#

rbg strips

#

zealous epoch
#

waxen finch

#

I mainly use rgb fans as my rgb

Rgb fans look better imo

zealous epoch

signal scroll
#

i think if its a short strip they look good, when they're wrapped all the way around I don't think they look that good

waxen finch
#

Yeah especially the adhesive ones

signal scroll
#

I'm probably gonna get a strip and some fans

waxen finch
#

Yeah if u do get strips get the magnetic ones

signal scroll
#

Yeah those were the ones I was looking at

#

probably just do a strip on the bottom

waxen finch
#

Yeah, it’s better to have them hidden then visible

#

And make sure the lights defuse evenly so no rgb spots show up

#

Like have some room

signal scroll
#

Yeah when you see the dots it looks weird, I think with my case ill be able to hide them and just the lights will look good

#

and just the lights ray (?) i guess, will show

waxen finch
#

Yeah that’s clean

signal scroll
#

👍 Thanks

waxen finch

#

Hi guys, is it good choice with HP 27mx monitor for gaming?

cold sorrel
#

UGH. Tonight I had an incredibly frustrating discussion with Mom. We're switching away from DSL to fiber optic and I off handedly mentioned we'd have to return the DSL modem when we cancel. She seems convinced the black tower is related to our phone service and wouldn't believe me when I told her it's the modem/router.

little osprey
#

Doesn't have a tag from the DSL company...

cold sorrel
#

And the other tower that she thinks is also part of the phone service is a UPS battery backup the ISP provided so our Internet doesn't instantly die just because the power blinks off for a little while.

little osprey
#

They should have tags on them, that should be evidence enough

cold sorrel
#

Ugh. I'm taking classes to learn this stuff, you'd think she'd know that I'm familiar with what I'm talking about.

#

(Yes, the modem has a tag from AT&T on it. I'm also pretty sure they'll want their UPS backup back, since they provided it in the first place.)

stoic island
#

Well

little osprey
#

Ahh, had to read that all again, sorry. Well, when she gets the bill that might help her believe you

stoic island
#

Does she know about cellphone towers

This might go better in electronics over build

normal mortar
#

@foggy hazel hi naed, some kid in another discord told me that my GPU which is a gts 1650 super won't bring out the full potential of my CPU with is a ryzen 5 3600 so is that true?

winter tendon
#

hello, i need some help

buoyant flame
#

If you say your question people are more likely to respond

winter tendon
#

i want to get a new laptop, one that can handle secondlife for a a few years

next kestrel
#

@normal mortar for gaming yeah

slate ice
#

@normal mortar due to what Gamers Nexus call overhead, the Ryzen CPUs can have a lower theoretical limit of how far they can push top end gpus like a 2080ti, but I doubt the fps difference between a 1650 Super with an R5 3600 or an i9 10900k would be noticeable to the user.

next kestrel
#

but gpu is really easy to upgrade so

buoyant flame
#

@normal mortar ik I'm not naed but he's been rather busy lately. What tasks are you using your system for? Because your not really gonna bottleneck your cpu with that gpu.

normal mortar
#

@buoyant flame i just wanna use my new PC for playing GTA 5 ok

#

that's all i want

#

can i still play GTA 5 with a R5 3600 cpu and a gts 1650

buoyant flame
#

You should be able to accomplish that

#

Its not going to be amazing tho

slate ice
#

@normal mortar absolutely

buoyant flame
#

If you can spare another 80 or so dollars a 1660 super would be a good deal but it is still possible with the 1650

normal mortar
#

gosh another $80 and i'd become a bum living on the streets

buoyant flame
#

Then dw about it

slate ice
#

The 1650 Super will be the performance bottleneck in your system, you wouldn't notice the framerate or framtime difference if you put a 10900k in there with a gtx 1650 super.

stoic island
#

Still not bad

normal mortar
#

i feel really bad about this now

#

cause i feel like i should've tried to spend more

#

.....

next kestrel
#

nah

normal mortar
#

on a GPU

#

but all parts have already been ordered.....

next kestrel
#

1650s is good price for performance

stoic island
#

you couldn't have

#

as I said

#

sure it'd be better if you spend 80$ more, but thats with any build xD

normal mortar
#

i feel like an idiot

#

on my first pc build

slate ice
#

@SouL13urneR#226 Your gameplay is going to be fine, you'll get 60fps at high details all day long with that combo

next kestrel
#

you would be ready for an upgrade soon :))

winter tendon
#

dont feel bad, i know nothng about laptops

buoyant flame
#

Dw your fine

next kestrel
#

like later this year or maybe sometime next year

stoic island
#

Nothing wrong with it

next kestrel
#

when new cards come out

stoic island
#

no need to upgrade next year either

normal mortar
#

ok maybe i'll save money and try to upgrade to a better GPU one day

next kestrel
#

i think everyone is hoping for price drops with 3000s nvidia

normal mortar
#

i used my stimulus check on this build guys

it is the mininmum requirements for second life

stoic island
#

nothing wrong with it...

normal mortar
#

@fast dust oh thank you yams

next kestrel
#

look on the bright side :))

#

you wont have to upgrade your cpu for a while

normal mortar
#

nah i just felt really bad cause another kid in a different discord told me that your GPU should always be more expensive than the CPU

#

and i felt bad cause i didn't do that

fast dust
#

Everybody was a noob when that first started

#

And no that’s not true

next kestrel
#

have you heard of APU's

fast dust
#

It just means your CPU is more powerful and you won’t have to upgrade it for a while

next kestrel
#

lmao

fast dust
#

^

next kestrel

fast dust
#

next kestrel
#

still recommended for < 400$ builds

normal mortar
#

ok thanks ya'll i feel a lil better now about my current gpu and cpu set up

stoic island
#

not always

#

GPU more expensive in CPU only really applies in higher budgets

#

800$+ for the pc

normal mortar
#

ya but i didn't wanna use my full stimulus check on a $1,000 + pc build.....

stoic island
#

below that spending about the same is quite alright

#

yea

normal mortar
#

gotta save some money for bills and food too ya know

#

so i guess i shouldn't feel bad as long as i still have a mid-range gaming pc right?

stoic island
#

Yes

normal mortar
#

@stoic island hey is a 2019 amd ryzen 3600 still much more better than an intel core i-7 3770 from like 2012?

stoic island
#

Yes lmao

normal mortar
#

i only asked cause the intel core cpu i have is an i-7

slate ice
#

@normal mortar IF it was a 3770K, and IF you delidded it and used liquid Metal, and IF you put it on a beefy z87 mobo with an awesome cooling solution, and IF you won the silicon lottery and you got it to 4.7Ghz stable... You'd be about even with a stock 3600

normal mortar
#

@slate ice whoah! that's a lot of work to get it on the same level as a stock 3600. i think i'll pass

slate ice
#

Yup

next kestrel
#

I would sell it for around 80$

stoic island
#

That's with intel behind 'ahead' in gaming loads

#

other workloads tho

#

:p

next kestrel
#

c o r e s

normal mortar
#

@slate ice so i'm assuming i'm jumping to a very big upgrade then since the PC i own right now has a 3rd gen core i-7 3770 from like 2012 right?

next kestrel
#

t h r e a d s

slate ice
#

@normal mortar oh yes, quite noticeable.

next kestrel
#

you might not notice too much for day to day tasks, but in any heavy loads yeah

normal mortar
#

i always thought that if a cpu from like 2012 says core i-7 it would always be better than a newer amd 3 or amd 5 since the number on the intel cpu is i-7 and 7 is always a higher number lol

slate ice
#

@next kestrel, yeah but drop an m.2 drive into the mobo (which you can't do on a z77 or 87), and even day to day feels like you're on a starship by comparison.

next kestrel
#

o lmao i didnt know

#

that u couldnt have nvme

stoic island
#

@normal mortar i7 doesn't mean anything :P it can be 8 years old, or recently released, 4 cores 4 threads, 6 cores 6 threads, 8 cores 8 threats, 6 core 12 threads, etc etc

normal mortar
#

what does the cores and threads mean btw

#

that's something idk what it does but i'm guessing if it has a higher thread number and higher core number it's better?

stoic island
#

First, older CPUs only have 1 thread per core, but newer CPUs with hyperthreading has 2 thread per core

normal mortar
#

so what do the thread and hyperthreading do?

stoic island
#

each thread does the calculations for everything a CPU does

#

different workloads take different amount of threads to do

normal mortar
#

so if a program starts freezing up or lagging that means there isn't enough threads?

slate ice
#

A core is a physical structure inside the silicon wafer of the CPU made of millions of transistors in a specific arrangement in order to perform computations according to predefined instruction sets.

stoic island
#

Not really

normal mortar
#

so basically the job of threading is to tell the computer what to do then?

#

like if i open a program it tells the pc to open that program?

slate ice
#

A thread is a sequence of instructions being performed, a core with 2 threads can execute two instruction streams simultaneously.

normal mortar
#

oh i see so that means i can open 2 programs at once

#

right?

slate ice
#

Kinda, on a single core, single thread CPU, If there are multiple processes hapening in the PC, then the stream of instructions will contain resource requests and instructions regarding all the programs. The CPU will have to switch back and forth beween two programs needs in one single stream of instructions. Like juggling two balls one handed. If there are two threads, then you have 2 hands to juggle with.

bold rune
#

can i install another m.2 ssd pcie on a atx motherboard? i already have 1 but i want to add another for more space

slate ice
#

You can, but depending on the board it may take up some PCIE lanes you're already using @bold rune

bold rune
#

my board is a asrock b365 pro4

normal mortar
#

@slate ice do you know a good install video i can use as a guide for the fractal design focus g case

#

cause i have no idea wtf i'm doing when my parts arrive

slate ice
#

There's a pretty decent build guide from Linis Tech Tips from last year. It doesn't have that case but it's a good overview.

normal mortar
#

wat's the video call

slate ice
#

"No dollar wasted PC Build guide"

normal mortar
#

ok thanks

#

hey can i ask you something

slate ice
#

I think NEW Egg has a build guide on their channel too

#

?

normal mortar
#

if my cousin is gonna get a pc for liek $600 from walmart is it better for him to just order parts online and build one himself for the same price?

#

like is it possible to do a build for $600 that would be way better than a walmart desktop pc?

stoic island
#

Likely yes lol

#

Usually 600$ pre builts are iGPU

slate ice
#

@normal mortar it is definitely possible to build better than a prebuilt at almost any given pricepoint

#

Currently though, parts are pretty hard to come by.

#

Unless you go used

stoic island
#

Black Friday you can sometimes get prebuilts better than normal just bc deals

next kestrel
#

even used tbh

stoic island
#

But black Friday parts are also cheaper so

next kestrel
#

mostly oos

normal mortar
#

the thing that sux about ordering parts online is some charge you for shipping as well.....

stoic island
#

Sad

#

Pcpp usually takes it into account tho

next kestrel
#

even so

#

still mostly cheaper

normal mortar
#

i hate amazon cuz they always charge me shipping since i don't have prime lol

next kestrel
#

lol Newegg2

stoic island
#

Lol I don't have prime so wegg

next kestrel
#

my brother bought prime and used it like 8 times in 1 month

#

my entire family ig

#

but lmao we got our money's worth

normal mortar
#

guys do u think i can run call of duty on a gtx 1650

next kestrel
#

ya

#

do u have a 60hz monitor?

normal mortar
#

@next kestrel my moniter i ordered has a 1ms time thing idk what it's call

next kestrel
#

uhh go to windows and search for display options/settings

#

or how much did it cost?

#

if it was expensive >200$ prob a 144hz monitor

#

cant tell if 60 or 75

#

def not 144 tho

#

go to specifications

stoic island
#

um

#

200$ is where 144hz is at

normal mortar
#

can u see specificatins now

stoic island
#

oof 100$ is prob 60hz

#

whats the model name

#

@normal mortar you prob want to edit out your name and where you live on that screenshot

normal mortar
#

dun wrry ill just delete it lol

slate ice
normal mortar
#

but ya thats wat i have

#

or wat i ordered

stoic island
#

It's 60hz TN panel

#

all I wanted to know about it

normal mortar
#

is 60hz bad

stoic island
#

relatively to others

#

hello is there any one here that built a pc in 2015 wondering cuz in 2015 through to 2020 i had a 3 year warranty on my mother board and it got shocked so the warranty gave me a free return to manufacturer to re unshock it from electricity then in 2020 i found out one of the pins i had 2 on my graphics card wasnt lighting up took it to a pc store right away he said the mother board was shocked again so im thinking well my question is the new mother boards in 2020 using better parts and also anti shock for the new mother boards in 2020 the thing is though back in 2015 and even on pc part picker it was highly rated till this day

you have to download the bios update on to a usb then boot it up from there

normal brook
#

NP. A little late, but I am at work 😛

#

@buoyant flame, seems like you have regular RGB headers, and need to use the ARGB connector your fans have? Unfortunately they're 12v vs 5v, so you will need a converter, or a separate ARGB controller.

Something like this for the converter:
https://www.newegg.com/deepcool-rgb-convertor-black/p/1W8-00JK-00030

Or this for the controller:
https://www.newegg.com/fractal-design-fd-acc-adj-r1-bk-rgb-controller-color-modes-preset-color-choose-from-eight-pres/p/N82E16811991013?Description=ARGB controller&cm_re=ARGB_controller-_-11-991-013-_-Product

buoyant flame
#

Ok thanks ill have to buy a converter

#

So just to be clear tho, I will lose the argb functionality of the fans? @normal brook

normal brook
#

Unfortunately with the converter, yes.

#

If you can find an ARGB controller that connects to to your motherboard via a USB header, that would allow you to keep the ARGB functionality.

#

But it's out of stock.

late mountain
#

Hey guys! I have just received a pc from newegg today, but unfortunately it freezes up everytime you boot it up. I can start it in safe mode without any issues. Is there somebody that knows what to do here? I would appreciate any help I can get 🙂

normal brook
#

It works perfectly fine in safemode?

late mountain
#

From what I have seen yes, I ran it for like 5+ mins without crashing, whilst normal crashes after 5 seconds

normal brook
#

If that's the case, it is likely a driver issue.

#

I would download all the latest drivers for your computer and install them while in safemode.

#

Then restart and see if that fixes the issue. @late mountain

#

@buoyant flame What case do you have? It could very well be capable of the same thing.

late mountain
#

@normal brook how do I get the latest drivers without having internet in safemode?

normal brook
#

Is this your one and only computer?

#

You can either boot into safemode with networking, or you will have to find another computer.

should i upgrade my 2133 16gb of ram?
@shadow orchid Sure, why not

shadow orchid

but to what speeds?

woven crypt
#

What's your motherboard?

#

And your CPU

shadow orchid
#

its a MSI M5 Z270 i7 7700k

normal brook
#

@shadow orchid, while you have slower memory 16 GB is plenty. You can try overclocking your memory for better performance, but if you're looking at getting a whole new kit the $100 you would spend on it, won't give you that much performance increase.

#

What I am trying to say is, it's a lot of money for not THAT much gain.

#

Especially if you overclock your current memory.

shadow orchid
#

kk

woven crypt
#

Your motherboard can support higher MHz RAM if you do decide to upgrade. It's more of a financial question than a technical one

shadow orchid

hmmm ok

thanks

woven crypt

late mountain
#

@normal brook thanks for your info... unfortunately I started to reinstall windows, but now you cant even boot up bios or anything

normal brook
#

@late mountain Seems a lot more serious than just a driver issue then. Can you provide a link to the computer you got?

#

@late mountain At this point you might consider an RMA through Newegg support. It should work out of the box. Drivers are one thing, but hardware diagnostic on a computer you just purchased is another thing.

Shipping can jar things on occasion, so if you can re-seat the ram and graphics card without voiding any warranties and it still does it, RMA it ASAP.

@normal brook right now it basically starts up, tries to load the "new" windows, then crashes with an error

If I can get both that's great

stoic island

Also laziness

#

Who wants to maintain a custom loop amirite

potent prairie
#

Man, this thermal grizzly stuff is like over twice the price of tm30

Yeah, Imma have to see how I like maintaining this loop

#

I'm hoping it isn't too high maintenance

stoic island
#

I mean Noctua nt-h2 isn't that expensive when I bought it ;)

potent prairie
#

I mean, if you compare it to how much my loop costs lol, I don't really have a right to complain about price to performance

celest horizon
#

You get what you pay for.
If you want good fans for pice/performance, buy the 5 pack of Arctic P12/P14s

potent prairie

celest horizon
#

If you want the best of the best, get Noctua nf a12x25's at $30 a piece

stoic island

@celest horizon arnt f12/f14 made more for case fan

celest horizon
#

Kinda, they're an older design

Don't fixate on "these are airflow optimized" too much

stoic island

Alright

stoic island

Also, know any programs that test ram without having to be booted from usb?

celest horizon

TL;DR - the P12/P14 use a redesigned motor/bearing that' sjust quieter

lol ya, memtest86, HCI memtest

#

oh

stoic island
#

That's the problem xD

celest horizon
#

I mean, tbh it's just more convenient to test memory outside of windows

stoic island
#

I like having a copy of my bios on my usb

celest horizon

Since ram OC can bork your windows install

And that's a pita if you care about your daily driver windows install at all

There are no A420's or A520's.

The cheapest AMD boards are $70 for the 3000 series now.

You used to be able to get cheap boards for $30-50 sometimes.

sacred obsidian
#

there are still boards that cheap, just gotta find b450s that are 3000 ready

#

right now theres a shortage as pc parts are in high demand

normal brook
#

Is that all it is?

sacred obsidian

so prices are raised as well

normal brook

I didn't think the B450's went that cheap.

normal brook
#

The x570 boards are a waste.

#

The x470's can support the PCIe 4.0 speeds.

#

They should have allowed board manufacturers to up the speed as long as they met the criteria.

obviously don't want any fires cause of small trace sizes. xD

sacred obsidian
#

eh. they have their benefits from what I understand but I was fully willing to go b450 but they didnt have any that fit my needs lol.

I've always been treated so well from Newegg.

Newegg is great but i don't like waiting for shipping, and if things go wrong I gotta wait so much longer to RMA so i buy my pc parts locally whenever possible 😛

sacred obsidian

theres been a few things put out there already that confirms it was a supplier issue. they could still go under because of it but last i heard they said they weren't going under and have found a new supplier

but losing a supplier for that long is a good way to kill a business lol

normal brook
#

They've been having "stock" issues for like 7-8 months.

#

I mean this pandemic really hasn't helped those numbers.

#

But those are the numbers.

#

Back in September of last year.

sacred obsidian
#

well yeah, that has to do with the supplier issues. If i recall, their main supplier went out of business, which left them with no way to get stock.

And they said they are better than what they expected

That and Amphere.

T_T

#

50%+/- supposed improvement?

They're talking a 3060 is supposed to be like a 2080 super is.

That would destroy AMD's recent improvements.

@little osprey maybe go for a more quality motherboard for the future and overclocking such a nice chip. Also for 3300 you could probably get a cpu rad to reduce noise

little osprey
#

I specifically have chosen to use Air instead of liquid.

And the problem with the motherboard is I'm not willing to go X570, so that leaves me very few choices for overclocking, even less so when it comes to ones in stock.

Basically only the Crosshair VII Hero, which is currently going for $400

#

I think you're right though, if I'm paying this much I should get the better motherboard, no matter the price.

#

and it's updated

#

thanks for the input @keen scaffold

keen scaffold
#

At least it's a nice air cooler

#

I have the stock amd cooler. It tries real hard but if I really wanna make my system quieter it's a new gpu fan

#

I got it to 4.1ghz at 1.425 volts and the thing gets toasty

little osprey
#

what CPU are you running with that?

lmao

Can last up to a 2070 maybe a super if you're 100%

I would say the best. idk about "only"

They're expensive tho 💸

indeed

They cost almost as much as the psu lol

Has anyone used a 80mm 360 rad, is it worth switching from a 30mm? I have st30 360 alpha cool and 240 as well

deep skiff
#

80mm pretty much overkill tbh, id go for a 45mm one instead to save like $50

signal drift
#

well i want quiet as much as possible and 2x 30mm one 360 and one 240 still seam kinda loud even with noctua nf12s

little osprey
#

why cant i put pcpart picker list?

deep skiff
#

you need to be lvl 3 to post links

signal drift
#

run about 1000rpm ish i want best cooling for quietness

#

is this good?

signal drift
#

if i can even fit a 80mm and fans in this case

little osprey
#

@deep skiff

deep skiff
#

is it for gaming?

little osprey
#

yes 1080p ultra at 144hz

signal drift
#

if you have a microcenter near you? they have motherboard cpu combo discount

little osprey
#

no i live in the third world

#

no microcenter

signal drift
#

b450 only will go up to 3950x so u know

deep skiff
#

to start i'd probably get a windows key or ebay or another place like that, you can get them for under $10 and they work fine

little osprey
#

i have that

#

cost me 200 dollars for some reason

deep skiff
#

oh okay

signal drift
#

you gonna upgrade any more in future or staying w/ that 3700x

little osprey
#

i wont upgrade for 5 years

signal drift
#

cause b450 dead in water board no more upgrade path

little osprey
#

i usually upgrade everything every 5 years

#

my 980ti kingpin stopped working

signal drift
#

id just get 3900x then, its not much more now i think right

little osprey
#

isn't 12 cores a bit too much?

signal drift
#

i mean price, but wait for 3000 to come out before building

little osprey
#

i can't wait anymore 🥺

deep skiff
#

for gaming i'd rather get a top tier gpu than cpu, better performance for the price

little osprey
#

i haven't played any games in like 3 months already

signal drift
#

well 3700x isnt too bad

little osprey
#

what about the psu?

#

can it handle the 2080 super?

signal drift
#

id try n get atleast gold

little osprey
#

there is a 80+ gold corsair 750W

deep skiff
#

im making a pcpartpicker link rn on changes

little osprey
#

@deep skiff ty ❤️

signal drift
#

you dont have to stick to corsair, i like it but theres sesonic or something thats the main company right?

#

that pretty much makes all the guts?

deep skiff
#

so you dont need the windows key correct?

little osprey
#

the only other company available here is gamidas for psu

#

so you dont need the windows key correct?
@deep skiff no i have that

#

gamidas has pretty crappy psu

signal drift
#

lots of ppl been using evga too

little osprey
#

you don't have alot of choices in the third world

signal drift
#

i wish newegg didnt show 3rd party sellers tho...

#

always jack prices up..

little osprey
#

Evga 850 G2 Gold Power Supply Pc
what about this?

#

@signal drift

signal drift
#

jeez psu up in prices.. or thats damn 3rd party ill look into it

#

prob dont need more than 750

deep skiff
little osprey
#

the 2080ti is super expensive!!!!

deep skiff
#

whats the price for you?

signal drift
#

yas useless for gpu

little osprey
#

like 2000 dollars

deep skiff
#

oh jeez its like half of that

signal drift
#

1100 cheapest in usa

little osprey
#

yeah they just bump the price up hard

deep skiff
#

what country do you live in?

little osprey
#

Nepal

signal drift
#

for 1080p gaming, i wouldnt get 2080ti

#

unless ur doing 1440p /4k

#

not worth it

little osprey
#

i can't afford the 2080ti

signal drift
#

u have it on ur list lol

#

oh thats his list

little osprey
#

its the 2080 super

deep skiff
#

well if its super expensive i'd drop it to the 2080 super

#

yea 2080 ti is kinda overkill for 1080p, was trying to make something near the budget but its fine to drop it down if its overpriced

little osprey
#

will the 3600 be good in the new call of duty?

tight sorrel
#

I had a quick question, if I have one SSD for OIS (with the OS installed), how do I allocate everything else to the huge SSD? I finished my build last night, but struggling with software now.

signal drift
#

if you can find tomahawk motherboard for b450 thats best you can get for it

little osprey
#

i mean the b450-a pro and the tomahawk max have the same vrm

#

plus the tomahawk max is 100 more dollars for some rbg lighting and usb c feature

deep skiff
#

@signal drift tomahawk only has vrms and bios flashback with usb going for it, it was hyped because it worked well with ryzen 3000 when it first came out, its kinda meh now

signal drift
#

ok

deep skiff
#

doesnt have super good io for the price, and all the new stock of b450 should have a bios ready for ryzen 3000

little osprey
#

so i will just modify it to the 3600 right

#

then i will have 100 more dollars left

deep skiff
#

yea

little osprey
#

what should i get for 100 more dollars?

signal drift
#

i mean 3600 for 1080p isnt bad

#

change m.2

deep skiff
#

3600 is the sweet spot for price/performance

little osprey
#

oh yeah, which one is good?
970 evo plus?

deep skiff
#

whats wrong with the nvme?

signal drift
#

his is ssd not m.2 he listed

little osprey
#

Team MP34 512 this is not available

#

only samsung nvme ssd are available

#

and crucial too

sullen spoke
#

mp34 is in stock at newegg

deep skiff
#

he lives in nepal

signal drift
#

i mean what u price for main drive?"

sullen spoke
#

does newegg not do international?

little osprey
#

i mean what u price for main drive?"
@signal drift i didn't understand

#

does newegg not do international?
@sullen spoke it does but not in nepal

vague vector
#

I need help

signal drift
#

with extra 100 what is your most youd pay for ssd or m.2?

vague vector
#

I need a GPU for a i3 2100

sullen spoke
#

oh that sucks

little osprey
#

i can pay 160$ at most

#

for a new ssd

#

if i replace the current one and get a 3600

vague vector
#

Well, that's all I have can someone help?

signal drift
#

look for inland premium 1tb m.2

#

its microcenter brand but its on amazon as well

vague vector
#

I just wanna play mc on 24 chunks

little osprey
#

we don't have amazon

#

I need a GPU for a i3 2100
@vague vector 750ti

deep skiff
#

@vague vector what budget

vague vector
#

150$

deep skiff
#

1650 super

signal drift
#

@little osprey what stores are near you that can get parts from?

vague vector
#

Bruh

little osprey
#

@signal drift its mostly local stores. no international ones 😅

vague vector
#

A 1650s for such a puny processor

#

I thought a 1050ti would do fine

deep skiff
#

you cant really upgrade the cpu in the budget, best would be to upgrade the gpu and then cpu later

vague vector
#

Yeah

deep skiff
#

1050 ti are usually overpriced, for cheaper i'd say rx 570/80 on ebay

vague vector
#

K

#

Will those work fine on a 450w?

deep skiff
#

yeah

signal drift
#

if your gonna game id get a m.2 atleast 1tb os and gaming m.2s came down in price alot equal to ssds

vague vector
#

if your gonna game id get a m.2 atleast 1tb os and gaming m.2s came down in price alot equal to ssds
@signal drift this is to me?

signal drift
#

no tobi

vague vector
#

K

#

I'm usually confused with old hardware

#

I also have a scrap pc with g33 graphics

deep skiff
#

back to the ssd, if you cant get the inland id go for a p1 1tb

vague vector
#

M.2 dosent affect gaming mich

#

A sata one should do finr

signal drift
#

no but price is equal to ssd

#

may as well have faster drive then

deep skiff
#

i thought he coulnt buy from newegg or am i just unsmart

vague vector
signal drift
#

just to show what it is

#

its 149 so maybe can price match

tight sorrel
#

Can someone walk me though this? I have one tiny SSD for OIS (with the OS installed on it now), how do I allocate everything else to the huge SSD? I finished my build last night, but struggling with software now.

signal drift
#

there are clone software you can get

#

but id do a fresh install tbh, if you have things you need to save copy them to a regular drive if you have a disc one, dload windows to usb

tight sorrel
#

I did a fresh install, everything is new.

signal drift
#

it will be better

signal drift
#

well if its already fresh install, just reinstall but to new drive, delete partition on the smaller

sudden turret
tight sorrel
#

...........?!

signal drift
#

copy/clone isnt always perfect best for fresh install

#

if you had like more into it then clone, but just reinstall

tight sorrel
#

I followed Box's instructions from a few weeks ago, it's how to partition that's driving me batty

signal drift
#

how is windows on disc or usb

tight sorrel
#

OS is on the tiny drive, fresh install with USB

signal drift
#

restart and go to bios, then select under boot to usb drive

tight sorrel
#

.................

signal drift
#

under install menu delete the smaller drive and create new on bigger drive

sudden turret
#

You have issues understand partitions?

#

or making them?

tight sorrel
#

You have issues understand partitions?
@sudden turret

Both. OS is on the tiny drive as per instructions, but computer isn't acknowledging the larger drive, so I don't know how to tell all the games to install there.

signal drift
sudden turret
#

oooh

signal drift
#

the games are not installed on other drive because you need to go into disc managment and assign drive

sudden turret
#

so you have a big drive, with no partition, drive label to it, correct?

signal drift
#

search bar disc management
