@stoic island Okay, I am not computer savvy really so that's mainly the reason I've used it
This is actually useful
https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/singleCompare.php
Okie, another question. How does one cut softline tubing?
I believe scissors are fine
Cool. Thx
how do i know which way my fan blows air?
The grill side is the side it blows out of
Wire it up and feel it?
@edgy cape nope, won't matter, you could order from the moon if you wish, its personal preference and what ever is best price wise for you

ok and one more question, the screws included with the fans don’t seem to fit in the fan holes, any reason why?
Damn. Just realized I need to buy another $60 in fittings
I think they are just like that..I had to force my ll120 fan screws
Alright so I'm looking to make a build with a 2070 super, 3600, a black and white case, and possibly an AIO but I read a lot of people having issues on their AIOs with leaking and whatnot. Any reccommendations? The build will be used mostly for gaming and streaming and possibly rendering music and developing.
1300 is the Max and I have peripherals.
I have never had a mishap with AIO leaking
so don't read to hard onto those.
2070super is a solid card, along with the 3600cpu
if you dont plan to OC, you can get an air cooler. if you do plan to OC, you can get a better air cooler and it will function just as well. AIOs are for looks, but yeah closed loops rarely have issues.
you seem to be headed in the right direction
I've done quite of bit of research, I dont wanna go in half-cheeked. I'm coming from a msi gs63vr I had as a student which was nice to travel with but had serious thermal issues.
I'll probably end up OCing for the heck of it but yeah im not keen on having dust everywhere (that said I'm also not comfortable enough to install a complete custom loop)
Make sure you get a case with removable filters then
I made that mistake my first order
Any specific suggestions for a mid ATX?
also make sure to do positive air pressure. more fans in than out, and with every in fan having a filter.it will help a lot with dust
I like the rog Helios but it's pricey. The 680x from Corsair looks sweet if you can get a deal
Oof yeah I'll watch for that, seems like to stay in budget I cant spend more than 100-120ish on a case
I got this when it was 60 but i dont think its that price anywhere right now 🤷♂️
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077232WC2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
See if you can find a warehouse deal
The 680x looks to be 260$ at the cheapest
Yeah. Pricey :/
Yeah and the Cullinan MX just doesn't seem to be available
how to find fan screw
screw usually come with case
fan extention cable
alright cool thanks
croz
Putting together a "new" build with components from a prebuilt.
cpu - ryzen 5 3600x (ordered)
mobo - tomahawk max b450 (ordered)
gpu - rtx 2060 super (have)
ram - venegeance pro 16g (have)
storage - 970 evo M2 & Kingston A400 (have)
PSU - thermaltake smart 700W (have)
case - lian li dynamic XL (ordered)
fans - corsair QL120's (ordered)
did i miss anything ....
cooling?
cpu comes with a stock cooler
bc its the x
AIO was something i was looking at however its a 50/50 on what people recommend.
if i can keep the temps down with the stock unit ... can maybe use those funds in the near future to upgrade GPU , etc
yeah
with that gpu and if yiur not overclocking that much you should be fine on temps without an aio
alot has changed since my last build ... 20+yrs ago
how do i know how much power supply i need
If you put your components in pcpp it'll tell you the wattage and then just get one that's higher than it
That doesnt mean they're all good tho
If you need a recommendation let us know
I have a dell xps 8900 and have come to the conclusion that i want to upgrade my gpu to a 2070 super and a 750 watt power supply. I know it sounds like overkill but they will be transplanted later into a entirely new build once i get the money. However I have a i7 6700 4 core cpu. Would the bottle necking be bad?
Well it would be usable and most likely get better performance than what you have currently. Also just a note. Some dell motherboards use proprietary connections that a average psu doesn't have. It might be worth it to research if this upgrade is possible on that board.
U mean other than 24 pin?
@copper crane for how much ?
Yes. Sometimes there's weird cpu power
@little osprey tough to say ... because of the money I "wasted" on the prebuilt
How much lol
I do see a 4 pin connection labeled "ATX CPU" do modern modular psus have these?
nzxt only good prebuild company tbh
@buoyant flame
They should
when all this covid pandemic started happening i knew i needed something to keep my "busy" ... so bought it from a local shop that they had built as a "demo".
with the prebuilt and the parts i have bought since 2400cdn
It'll probably have a 8 pin that can be separated to a 4 pin
oh so its just a matter of buying an adapter?
I checked all the psu outputs going to the motherboard its only the 24 pin and the 4 pin
I dont honestly know, I would say yes but I cant be 100% sure and I don't want to tell you the wrong thing.
Maybe @cursive wharf has some insight
when the new intel cpu should be invalid to buy ?
I do see a 4 pin connection labeled "ATX CPU" do modern modular psus have these?
@hasty sleet
most if not all modern PSUs will have the 4 pin, some even will have a 4+4 for newer CPUS that require an 8 pin connector, in fact I can't think of a PSU that wouldn't and If one IS out there just do your self a favor and avoid it as most likely it is a Chinese bargain bin unit...
I gotta make a decision lol. Just built the Goku themed PC with a NZXT H710i, but thinking about getting the LIAN LI O11 Dynamic XL with a front distro.
if I put work into something like that I would at least get enjoyment out of it before getting rid of it but that is just me
true, but things I do want to change, I'd love to sell it but idk and start over lol. I love to build pcs
I do to, but I also enjoy my work
I do
its honestly up to you as you feel like doing
Okay so I’m here asking for help. This is kinda a last resort. This build has an rtx 2070 super Windforce, a Ryzen 7 3700x with a Corsair AIO, 650 watt psu. It’s basically acting like it’s not even plugged in. No fans, no LEDs nothing.
oh yikes
Yeah I don’t really know what to do
check power cables to mobo, cpu, etc. if you haven't already
make sure psu switch is on
Yeah I’ve reseated just about everything except the CPU because it’s a huge pain taking the cooler off
And the psu switch is on
have you check the connection for the power button
Yeah I’ve taken it off and put it back a few times
I can send some pictures if you guys want
sure
hola
Hola que tal?
this is buildchat where people ask about building pc
So I was actually wondering if you guys could help me pick a build
OK so final plan is to transplant my dell xps 8900 guts into a lian li o11 dynamic but swapping the gpu for the 2070 super and the psu for a corsair rm750 watt. I plan on eventually replacing the motherboard and cpu with a ryzen 7 3700x and a asrock steel legend x570 with a corsair gen 4 pcie 500 gb stick later down the line. My issue is that the case doesnt have fans. Wat are the cheapest set of fans i can buy as temporaries before i get nice rgb ones
I’m not sure what else to take pictures if
That is exactly what I want
@hasty sleet probably some cheap ones off eBay. It depends how long you want them for
6 months at most
if there is no life to it at all, my guess would be mobo or psu
I just need 6 cheap ass fans that can blow no frills
Yeah you could probably get away with come cheap eBay fans
ok anyone know of a way i can get some for free?
Alright I’m gonna triple check the connections on the psu
when did the pc stop working
I’m building it today. All the parts are brand new
free fans? probably ask around your area and see if anyone has anything
oh so this is first time putting together
I’ve built close to 10 computers before and I’ve never seen anything like this
i see
Yeah but I’ve built many computers before
I dont really know anyone who builds computer near me and i live in north jersey anyone maybe live near here that knows a group or something?
If you happen to have another psu or mobo you can try that to see if problem is one of those
might be easier to see if you put it together outside case
I have my own personal mobo and psu. I’m building it for someone
I’ll try to take it out and build it outside the case
ye try that first
Then if it doesn’t work should I contact the manufacturer?
you could try swapping psu first, or try putting those parts, cpu gpu ram, on your mobo and psu
if you are comfortable with that
So my question is, I am building a PC around Intel core i3-9100F I'm not an overclocker or anything and just happen to be in a budget, now that budget has expanded and I happened to stumble across a really good deal on Ryzen 5 2600X
I dont really know anyone who builds computer near me and i live in north jersey anyone maybe live near here that knows a group or something?
@hasty sleet you could try fb marketplace or ebay if someone has something
I can basically build a PC with Ryzen for about 335$ or go really simple with Intel for 290$
amd is better budget
I think the new ryzen 3 3100x is like 99 bucks and stronger than an older gen i7 in some cases
Not entirely true, the 3300x is 120 and on par in some cases
I mean to upgrade somewhat soon for either 10th gen processor or AMD but I believe in both cases I have to change the motherboard so I don't really mind that
The 3100 trails by a little bit
Well I'm buying this tomorrow, I think Ryzen 3300X is not on sale yet
ohhhh
2600x for 120 is not that bad, especially cuz prices have been wack lately
My thoughts exactly.. I mean I was somewhat happy about mi i3-9100F build because it was really cheap. Building a gaming computer for under 300$ (I'm saving on GPU and drives because I already have them) was just crazy to begin with.
Then as I said getting a mobo-processor combo with the X version of AMD 2600 for the same price is what got me thinking if I should go for Intel or get AMD
My budget is 500-600 but I'm also gonna try and get a good monitor for this build
Then going to upgrade GPU and later get a new grn CPU
So what you guys think
i have 3 more parts to get and two of the three are out of stock
:(
Ok I've decided
I'm gonna go with the 2060S for now, but upgrade when I have money for 4 monitors
It makes sense monetary wise, and it's available (for once)
Are you sure
I mean, unless that's near future probably by the time you get four monitors there will be better or cheaper GPU's
So i just purchased a 2070 super and overlooked the 650w power supply recommendation. I have a 550w at the moment. Would my psu still be able to handle that or is it best to just let 2070 sit untill i can get a high psu? I bought the Zotac MIni 2070 Super and PSU is Corair CX seriers 550 watt 80+Bronze
if your current cpu is not too power hungry it should be ok however you may still want to get that 650ww
is there a way to find out how much power im using on my pc? sorry im a newbie when it comes to PC stuff im new lol
which cpu do you have?
i7 8700. not K
sounds like you'll probably be fine
you ll probably be fine for now
that i7 draws 150w at best iirc
and a 2070 will draw 250ww at most
8700 takes max of 120w, 2070S takes max of 230w, rest of system would be 70w
420w total peak
ok so i should be good but best to invest in a higher PSU for the future?
yeah
Get no more then 650w as it's a waste of money. Also tends to be the trap where people try to get a poor 750w+ PSU that's the same price as good 550w/650w. Overall getting a worse PSU because one focused on wattage too much in the same price bracket
@oblique comet if that happens then I'll get a 2080ti
Hello all
Just wanted to say to everyone i have everything ordered except for one part
Which is my Motherboard
I got my GPU and PSU yesterday ordered. Which both should be here 14th
does anyone have any experince with xpg
Hey all. I completed my build 2 weeks ago and then decided to upgrade my old radeon r9 380 to a radeon rx 5700. My frames have gone up by a huge margin, with Escape From Tarkov being the main game I expected a boost in. The problem is, after a few minutes of playing, around 5-20 minutes or so, my screen goes black and my computer restarts. I dont know why this is happening. All of my parts are new and of high quality in my opinion.
Any thoughts?
what's your psu?
Ryzen 5 3600
psu
my motherboard smoked like it was hanging out with cheech and chong, thank the pc heavens my other hardware survived the ordeal.
I haven't heard about that psu brand before
but when your pc just auto restart under high load without even a bsod then I'd blame the psu
I didnt have a problem until I got my 5700.
Even with the r9 380 I was able to play for a few hours without problems.
I haven't heard about that psu brand before
@tepid basalt sorry. The brand is Raidmax
Anyone on here who can help me to make sure all this stuff works together
PM me
Hey can i borrow everyone for just one question real quick?
I know it states that my 5500 XT will require atleast 450w. But a Ryzen 5 doesnt need a whole ton does it? Cause i got a 650w psu
Im hoping that will be enough.. PCPartPicker says its compatible
why not 1660s?
@upper verge we know but were making a recommendation
And yes the 650w will work as long as it is a trust worthy psu
@velvet hill - I got turned on to https://pcpartpicker.com/ recently from this site, and I've found it to be VERY helpful. Thanks Newegg Crowd!
@floral walrus probably group regulated PSU. Which old hardware doesn't have issues with but new does. So high workload just messes everything up
@floral walrus how cheap are we talking about? Chinese bargain basement cheap? Or a quality brand was on sale? Never heard of “Cobra” goes to research brand
@weary gulch are those the TT quads?
Best build for 1500 aud?
@upper verge we know but were making a recommendation
@little leaf the one i chose is a Thermaltake
Incase you wanted to know
I've got what is possibly a dumb question. Is there like some way I could let a new computer link to my laptop to copy all my files? (Save the OS, I know I need to install that fresh.)
@cold sorrel yes, you can use a device similar to this to do what you are asking, however you might be better off using a USB drive or USB external HDD for the same task if all your doing is copying files from one PC to another
@cold sorrel also no question is dumb unless it goes unasked, your learning so please ask away, I don't mind helping
... I could have sworn my portable hard drive was 1 TB. I'm trying to see if I can purge enough crap off it to use. (There's some old rarely needed files on it I do want to keep.) Otherwise I might have to invest in another to be able to transfer everything I want
Good afternoon. For those of you who use Gigabyte Z390 mobos with 3 slots for M.2 NVME SSD. What configuration of M.2 NVME you use, and why?
I don't have that exact board but I do have boards that use M.2, generally I use one OS/Boot, one for my games, and if applicable one for storing non critical files (anything critical gets backed up to my NAS and if super critical goes also to offsite back up)
Hello guys
Would you get an i3-9100F or a AMD 2600X assuming you get both for the same price

Can we get less feet in the pic?
lul
will a 6+2 connector workt for a 8pin conector
yes
lastly theres a 6pin and 8pin connectors are both required to be used?
gpu
All the power connecters should be plugged in on the gpu
oh ok
Oh boy, card I definitely can't afford.
@cloud drum how much did you pay for that if you don’t mind me asking?
I got my 2060 super from microcenter, an EVGA, and it was $420
But mine only has 2 fans, no rgb
Hey naed,. What do you think about this idea
So what’s the difference when the graphics card has the same chip but one has 3 fans and the other has 2. Does it only come down to cooling? Or is there a reason for the extra fan?
yes, cooling
Meh
What temp is too hot for a gpu to be at?
is the Corsair SPEC-06 ATX Mid Tower Case a good case?
Idk I'm too lazy to check :p
Is it easy to put an aftermarket cooler on your gpu?
I’ve got an EVGA 2060 super. 2 fans. Would that even be necessary?
more mem?
Not necessary to make a cooler upgrade
idk i got it cuz it was the best brand
Thanks
Dual fans are all you need anyways
Tifa, a week after I built my pc I found 2070 supers with cosmetic defects from evga direct with warranty for less than what I paid for my 2060 super
I’m adding extra fans to my case as well, so we’ll see if that keeps the gpu any cooler too

Hello friends! I’m looking to get a SSD bf for a Lenovo Flex 4 1470 any suggestions? I’m very new to replacing hardware outside of a chip of ram here and there. What else will I need for this project? Any advice is welcome!

Hey @iron basin
How to Upgrade/Remove/Repair Memory/HDD/SSD on Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4 1470 14 Inch by 365 Laptop:
This video cover entire RAM/Memory upgrade process of Lenovo Ideapad touch screen laptop.
Free Estimate For Your Laptop:
Nice, thank you!
Any recommendations on SSD for this model? I’m having a hard time figuring out which is compatible.
@iron basin I have had good luck with Adata, Samsung, Hynex, Intels SSD
as for tools a basic screw driver generally (depending on how the laptop is put together) is all you need
that is your source of teardown manuals etc if you need anything beyond the video above
So my build ended up being a Ryzen 5 2600X with ripjaws 16gb 3600 ram rx 580 8gb and a 650w power supply all within a b450 motherboard
Almost my build I just did
2600x, Corsair 16gb 3200, 2060 super, 650w gold
Asus b450-f Rog strip
Strix*
@floral walrus how cheap are we talking about? Chinese bargain basement cheap? Or a quality brand was on sale? Never heard of “Cobra” goes to research brand
@pastel briar it's a 90 dollar psu that was on sale for 60 because of a random sale.
thats
quite different lol
everything but the CPU maybe PSU was different
yea prob a bad PSU then
a non-rated Raidmax unit
Well, it's not one of the units LTT rated soooo
The only other raidmax units they rated :
what do you need that much juice for?
why 850w
I raising the dead in my house and gaming. Multitasking.
w u t
Quick question. I got this gpu stand that lights up but I have no idea where to plug it in at! It doesn’t seem to fit anywhere!
You have a 3600 + 5700...
@mighty sapphire send a pic
@floral walrus even 450w would be enough for your build
like
what in your pc is drawing so much power
Might be molex
Connector: 5v 3pin + molex 4pin
no idea why its 2/4 pins(?)
That’s what it says the connections are
the "part" that is closest to your thumb is the puzzling part for me
that "lip" looks weird
okay, nothing to worry about and yes, that is 100% molex
moilex
Where does that hook up to?
woo
the angle on the first made it seem like there was something blocking it
where is it coming from
it hooks up to a cable from your PSU
well what is it attached to I should say
oh nm I read up
Quick question. I got this gpu stand that lights up but I have no idea where to plug it in at! It doesn’t seem to fit anywhere!
@mighty sapphire plugs into your PSU molex
as naed said
wooo, you are doing all kinds of good today Box, even things we cant get regular users to do
you know, reading up etc :)
-_-
yay good job box
SHUDUDUDUP.
:D
Haha
Okay cool! So a cable that came with my psu should be able to hook it up I’m guessing
Yea.
correcto
aye, there will most likely be at least 1 cable with molex on it
there might also be one with a combination of sata and molex on it
that molex you showed is a male/female version
Naed, do those usually plug into the "sata" port on the psu or like the "peripherals" port?
just out of curiosity
depends on the setup and the psu
fair enough.
Perfect!! Thank you guys!! I found it
woo
I just have no idea what the "peripherals" port is for
Hooking it up now lol I definitely found the cord and I’ll take a picture as soon as it’s up!
mentally you can label it as "random power source" @stoic island
Manic its a stand, that holds the GPU from sagging
Ah
lol ok
So it has RGB lighting on it in this case?
so rgb all the things I guess.
yo kids, we heard you liked rgb for your rgb, so here is some rgb.
The one I got has bloodhound etched into it and rgb!
That's pretty slick.
Neat
Only 30$ too. Comes with a remote and stuff but I don’t have a battery for it yet lol
I’m not sure how to do a video lol but it changes colors to it’s pretty awesome!
Get a 5.25" bay drawer to put it in box
Thank you guys again!! You’re always sooo helpful! I’m so glad I decided to build a pc instead of getting prebuilt lol
no, thank you, for sticking with it :)
It's more rewarding making something than bought outright.
now that you have the experience, it'll be easier to upgrade cause you know how it all went together.
those are already a thing.
yep
I think NZXT?
probably already done.
ask Naed
he is the RGB expert.

It definitely is! I can’t wait to build another one lol and upgrade when it comes time!
may you live in interesting times Box!
custom watercooling is like $260 for a RGB CPU/GPU copper loop with 360mm/240mm rads
not that expensive if you know where to look
Mainstream stuff are pretty damn expensive
though ekwb has some cpu kits for like ~300$
ekwb just be extremely overpriced
?
for example?
I don't look much into custom watercooling but
ekwb seems good nuff
$260 for a RGB CPU/GPU copper loop with 360mm/240mm rads right here.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32899782878.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5cf562285UYWPR
glhf trying to find something like that for less then $500 on ek
last I checked an EK RGB GPU block was $200
and EK's $270 kit doesnt come with another 240mm rad either
damn
you're still paying for name brands
So that's $470 + 240mm rad price
just like with anything.
- fittings
sadly their Aluminum series is going EOL
because that was like 300 for a full loop
CPU+GPU
thats what I just pulled out of my build Mr1.
I also heard that fluid gaming series had issues with blocks not being tightened enough
being tightened?
easy fix, but still can cause leaks on first leak test which can be annoying to deal with
huh
Guess I've been lucky then
but yea if I go custom water I'll prob get bykski
never had a leak
but
Another good company would be Barrow
air ftw
and I switched tubing, style, placement multiple times
before I was happyy with it
tho I usually see Bykski be better priced
not sure what these other people be doing lol
until custom watercooling is cheaper than Noctua mainstream cooler, or I become rich asf, I'm sticking with air.
I paid 170 for the fluidgaming 240a
I mean, you do need to consider GPU too
then another 60 for a 120rad+fan
I don't care about my GPU cooling beyond stock so
unless future GPUs have heat issues
¯_(ツ)_/¯
so like two CPU coolers and some GPU modding would be like $190 or smth
I like my quiet GPU
It's nice and quiet
like 70$
but works 😄
eh, I guess
Bad idea. You need to cool your CPU if you want it to survive
You could move the fan/radiator
why do you want to move it?
they dont like how the tubes look
soft bends only
they still pivet at the base of pump(cpu)
Ohh really
I trust th CX more
CX CX CX
Servers are finally mounted....uuug
@edgy cape it's okay, not great, but if it's like 60$, go for it.
TXM gold is better same then CX tho (edited for correct info)
But yeah, TXM is usually quite overpriced so unless ~$70 USD then dont get it
I think I got seriously bored lol
My new toy mounted…cleaned up the network rack some, lengthened it as well, ordered my 4u case has well
still have some wire management to do and pull off, but I am stuck waiting for the actual cords (power) to get here from Amazon, so I can have shorter length cords that will hopefully let me run them better
Same list from #general-chat ?
its not a trash, but I wouldn't say Nahhhh either....thought I am hesitent about raidmax only due to never using them my self so I can't say anything about quality....
^^
Is Team ramm bad?
Thermaltake Smart PSU are trash ?
I think so
Why
dang, i didn't realize the series of psu mattered too.
got an RM650 80+ gold corsair. is that good? I'm clueless
it doesn't have the best airflow, but for those parts it wont matter a whole lot
Is that case worth or is there a better cheaper one
PC Build is coming along nicely, I should have all parts by next week wednesday!
Ryzen 5 (3600?), want some LED but i dont wanna spend an arm and a leg.. meant to send this to build pics, lol. but i guess i need some help on LED
@little osprey for airflow a p300a mesh with a few cheap fans instead, but if you want aesthetics, go for the h510
PS
Is that case worth or is there a better cheaper one
@little osprey
I bought a really nice case with 2 120mm fans in it, ill provide link if u want
this is the one that @foggy hazel recommended for my build, tons of room, tons of cross compatibility,
Yer
It’s better than the h510 ?
according to the old masters, yes
h510 bad airflow >:D
good airflow, the back is wide open too basically
from that website link i just posted....
Also 2 5.25 bays for no specific reasons
you may have to install your power supply upside down, technically, for the fan to spin inside the case and create more airflow, insteadof just down
Nice
just what the box recommended
what rig are you building @little osprey are you on PCPARTPICKER
lmao, you read my mind
lol
(Warning! Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions.
)
Um what’s that
thats on your incompatibility warning, you may have to flash it
Lol
with an older componant
saw that on youtube a while back, you have to have them ship you one, i heard
5.25" bays are good for whatever if you want to do that kinda thing
i mean, what i have,
Pro 4?
Which one is it
I'm not a fan of their software
thats what i have for my MB,
they're backstocked elsewhere but AMZ had 1 that i bought, newegg seems to be in stock for just under $79
That motherboard is upgrade friendly as well ?
and MSI is a company you can trust
yes., tons and tons of ports
sata usb etc. what kind of upgrade you mean
also, btw, there's ram on sale on newegg, or at least there was, that was RGB
Like gpu and procceser
I like MSI software :p
I don’t really know that much about PCs just want something good to start off with
msi software is sexy. so you mean like the processor chip you'd buy,
separate?
cpu?
That ssd is not good
Yeah around
ok
are you set on a 2tb internal hard drive? you could shave cost by just not doing that
how many gigs does a man ned
need
I’m not gonna be downloading like crazy
Gigs
Over least 9000
^
2tb hdd is pretty standard :p
so way less than 2 TB, what editing? photo, video,
kk
see and those builds with the 3300x arent even accounting for their price, you're closer to 700 with that or even 3600x
- windows 10 key if you need that... 800
120$ is 3300x
172 for 3600
win10 key is ~5$
Ebay :D
lots of people here including me can vouch for ebay keys
how in the hell, lol
even if one fails, its like 5$
Did yalll get the list
I accidentally bought 2 keys, both works, checked both of them, both were retail keys.
no mass activation keys or any of that
nice
this would even be ok >> https://www.newegg.com/blue-wd10ezex-1tb/p/N82E16822236339?Item=N82E16822236339
to replace your 22 dollar one with lol
hmm I gotta swap out that mobo
@sudden turret do you have a minute?
oh boy
Don’t really wasn’t waste that much since this is just starting
thoughts on this sytem? (I already own the graphics card but Im thinking of rebuilding my whole pc. Also I didn't add any drive storage)
bruh
I cant send links
how do I get out of this role
What do you already have?
I'm probably going to make a new list for you, as intel is not good for value at all right now
I have that graphics card, 32 gb of naked ram which I might sell because I want the rgb, a 600w thermaltake psu, and an Asus Prime board. Also i5-9900f
side convo, best RGB controller to go w/ MSi MB? I dont want corsair cuz i dont wanna pay the corsair tax, lol
I built it a while back when the parts were more expensive
9400f?
What exact mobo
MSI ProSeries AMD Ryzen 1st and 2ND Gen AM4 M.2 USB 3 DDR4 D-Sub DVI HDMI Micro-ATX Motherboard (B450M PRO-M2 Max) (B450MPM2MAX)
Might as well keep your mobo gabe
Asus Prime B360M-A
(sorry not for me)
I don't see a need to upgrade mobo
Im looking to do gaming at good speeds and graphics (I can already run gta at ultra 1080p 60fps, however I want to stream as well and move to 4k res)
no budget atm but probably around 1100 in parts
cause its still a little into the future
maybe wintertime
so can you send a list with your current build?
all the parts i currently have? yeah
just gimme a minute
Im gonna write it in a document and paste it one min
pcpp if possible
I just got a new pc and the internet isnt working
Says im connected but
doesnt work
i can tell all the drived arent up to date either
but how can i get latest drives update if i dont have internet
Intel Core i5-9400f
Geforce RTX 2060 by Gigabyte, 6g.
2 Sticks of Crucial 288-pin dimm
Asus Prime B360M-A mobo
ThermalTake Smart 600w (I gotta check the other stats on it)
A regular air cooler from intel (I built this when I was a beginner I didn't really research the cooler)
it cost me about 1100 to build a year and a half ago
need any more specs?
yes
if ur trying to stream maby get new cpu
eh you'll upgrade it anyways I'll just slap in some placeholder
you're not upgrading storage correct
Drive space or ram?
Drive space
I have a Hard Drive and then an SSD that I have windows on
I might swap out the hard drive for something else
just put in what you have into this list
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vdQqyk
im not entirely sure what the storage I got is
is there a way to check without opening up my case?
lemme see if hwinfo does it
wait I think I can do it in task manager
Disk Management too?
I wasnt sure if task manager told you the name of the drive
lmao
@cursive wharf found some other boards with m.2_2 pcie only
Gabe's current build
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/M73tBZ
@dusty gale so 1100$ of parts to upgrade
probably yeah
If it goes a little over thats fine, just something around there
I just wanna make it so I can go a longer time without upgrading and I want my cosmetics to be improved
Okay so you definitely need a graphics card upgrade
my 2060?
I didnt think it was too bad
I mean it runs mostly everything at the best settings without any lag
Oh yeah true
Well
true
but dont add that to the total
Id make it a seperate investment
..?
I have a friend whos swapping his 2070 super out for something different and I could get that cheaper
kk...
but I dont wanna add it to the total because Idk how much hed charge for it
@stoic island can you send me the link to the mobo spreadsheet?
So i can bookmark it
Thx
@dusty gale everything that isn't marked as purchased are my suggested upgrades.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/42dmHB
What I suggest with the new SSD is for you to use like AOMEI to transfer your OS onto the new SSD, since it is faster, and use that for programs you use often.
thats what I wanted to do
and then the 240gb ssd you can use for whatever, after you transfer everything and clean it out and format it, maybe use it for games you play often
¯_(ツ)_/¯
does the case have room for extra fans/water cooling?
yea, most cases do.
I would suggest against it
@stoic island interesting. Tho not to surprising I didnt know before, cuz I barely pay attention to Intel
Not much performance difference, a lot more expensive
@cursive wharf I dont pay attention to intel at all until I was looking it up for this build lmao
I'd have to look into it
yeah I just like intel cause ive been using it for so many years
I think I had one build with an AMD processor and I wasnt used to it at all
AMD is the king for now.
well I mean hey its never not a possibility
prob 95% of new builds here are AMD builds
I just gotta research AMD and some different motherboards
intel mobos and chipsets are so wacky... different generations take different sockets, and on the same sockets theres different chipsets that support different generations...
thats the thing
cause like certain mobos need Bios updates and whatnot to use 8th and 8th gen intel chips
Yeah putting intel into your new build is unwise atm
AMD is just. Socket AM4. And everything excluding the 4th gen can be put in any mobo with a bios update
tbh it could very well just be "not supported" rather then "not work at all"
I was too lazy to look at any of the news yet tho
4th gen?
yee
They said it was about bios sizes so it's very possible mobo manufactures could put out bios updates
¯_(ツ)_/¯
thats what I got out of it at least
At launch you heard a lot about Zen supporting ECC mem, no mobos support it but they do "support" it
I know nothing about AMD, whats the spectrum like? Like whats considered the "good side" Like i7s and up
R3 3300x is literally i7 7700k more or less
I mean like whats a good reccomendation for a chip
Depends on budget
I want like the equivalent of a i7 9th gen roughly
So basically, AMD chips are 4 digits, such as
3700x.
First digit is generation, 3rd gen. Second digit depends, the higher it is, usually the more cores it has.
I would advised against going i7 and getting a better GPU
They're getting a 2070s from a friend
Im really thinking about switching to ryzen
Like I was before this conversation
cause ive heard its a bit cheaper and better at the same time
1100 isnt for the whole build
Hei
Honestly you could get a completely new Ryzen build without GPU for 1100
I have a pc Im just doing a big upgrade\
yeah basically
Surprising that it keeps getting in stock tho
I would've thought that if it was on low stockage this in/out stock stuff would be done by now
and it'd just be 100% OOS
Something like this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/z8f9Qq
Add in whatever graphics card you get
very solid pc
god damn intel stuff was expensive
9700k is 8c8t and like 60$ more expensive than 3700x
Making a few small changes
The ryzen 7 3700x which is supposedly about a i9 9900k
kk go ahead hei
@cursive wharf Ram RGB was requested, and mobo is placeholder
Also, 32gb was for aftereffects work
Could just get RGB fans/strips tho
¯_(ツ)_/¯
and it'd allow for fancier lightshows
yeah prob rgb fans
cause if i went with intel Id go with a rog strix like z390-f board but if I go ryzen
a tomahalk of some kid
moar rgb
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/QCjp4n
wow same time
dude I just realized how good amd is lmfao
its a lot cheaper
but like about the same stats
and I dont have to be as weary of my motherboard selection as long as I pick the amd fitted socket
Basically
There is still quality differences tho in mobos
seems like it
mp34 is actually a fine drive it seems
Ye, think mp34 is fairly new
and my buddy is building a pc he would probably pick it up
still no filter on that mobo tho
@cursive wharf any idea why it has such high TBW compared to a80 and others?
whats tbw?
It has close TBW endurance to mp510, which has a lot of overprovisioning
total band width? lmao
nope. But I feel like TBW is more of an advertising "lie" thing. So idk, probs just cheesed the system with calcing it
terabyte write
I like using it to quickly compare endurance
but its 500tbw vs like 1500
ok Im confused, whats the difference between ssd and m.2 sata?
Dont know much of what they mean in "jedec standard" for TBW. But a note is a note
Fair enough
@dusty gale M2 SATA SSD is kinda just meh. It's the same as a 2.5" SATA SSD for usually more money
My m.2 sata sucked
The connector/form factor is different. But the protocol is the same. So no perf can be changed
I mean is there any good reason to have one over just having 2 ssd drives?
like one m.2 and one ssd vs 2 ssd
As in m.2 sata + 2.5in sata vs 2x2.5in sata?
Tho do note, there is M2 NVMe. Which has a different protocol then SATA and is much faster
The only differences are the differences in the drives
there are good 2.5in drives, there are bad ones
there are good m.2 SATA drives, there are bad m.2 SATA drives
Yea, NVMe is much faster, like 3000mb/s compared to 500mb/s of SATA
are they on pcpp?
in sequential speeds
"M.2" is just the name of the slot. Speeds differ depending on the protocol and the specific drive.
Here is where nvme is when you're looking in pcpp
this is just a list im working on, is the storage a decent pick? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/crdhk6
p1 is decent but you can do better
alright
I added a tb of team mp34
kk
what was that case called
Coolermaster TD500 mesh?
Reason: Bad word usage
bruh
lol
lol
the rog strix helios is cool but im not spending $312 on a case
lol
I said the slang word for devils lettuce apparently its a bad word
the fractal case
Fractal case dont got no rgb and you wanted rgb so td500 mesh is better for da rgb
good to know
should i spend the extra money on a AIO cooler or should i just go with air?
my budget is like 1500
if you can spend like 4000$ total, why the hell not have a custom loop
yea no
better to get more performance with air
yeah
Air vs Water has like a tiny bit of difference in performance
Custom loops are icky
water just looks nicer
they require maintenance
but much more expensive
like more than usual
ehh people want that look lmao
Im too lazy to constantly take care of a water system
people who spend enough for custom loop prepare for having to clean out the loop and maintaining it every year or so
yeah
like a regular cooler/radiator sure but a whole tube system forget about it
I think the term you're looking for is an AIO (all-in-one)
yeah thats what I meant
any other good reccomendations for cases?
Plus I would be getting a bit of rgb from custom fans/liquidcooler/ram
Guys, Would you go budget with an i3 9100F just to get a gaming monitor with it, and then upgrade afterwards
or, Would you get a Ryzen 5 3600X and get gaming monitor afterwards...
Coolermaster H500
Would like to know since new gen is coming up next month
@oblique comet Ryzen 5 3600 non-x :P
3600x is barely any better and more expensive
Just that the X means I can OC with one click, im no overclocker I know nothing about it
this would be my first ryzen
first AMD actually
H500m is expensive
@dusty gale H500 is good
with no suffix
from Coolermaster
Usually for ~115$
Im pairing all up with a RX 580
I really like the CM H500 :p
I like the H500m more just my opinion
or if you have any suggestions for a 400$ build, no GPU, no storage needed
but theyre both decent cases
I like it too, but expensive
H500 actually makes more sense for my build, and I was looking at it.
Reason: Bad word usage
@oblique comet do you need a cpu?
like come on
@oblique comet do you need a cpu?
@rapid scroll Yes, im making a new computer, just reusing old SSD, HDD and GPU.
106$
I mind upgrading afterwards as well at some point
h500m is like 2x the price rn so sadly nah
@oblique comet what the budget for the cpu?
@dusty gale so, what do you think about the H500 no suffix
@oblique comet what the budget for the cpu?
@rapid scroll I have about 400-500$ for CPU, RAM, MOBO and PSU.. as I have to ship everything to my country
What country?
I have someone on Houston getting the parts for me and hes shipping them to Venezuela
you have a middle man?
why not just ship them yourself (idk how shipping works over there)
Shipping is wack
@oblique comet I recommend a ryzen 1600 af
@rapid scroll this can only be found at 150$
yea its OOS for like 2 weeks now
the price changed then
@rapid scroll This is launch price, a lot of stores bought it and it is sitting around 150 everywhere.. OOS for biggest sellers
I tried and did some digging..
ah
I was gonna get i5-9400F but then I thought I could put 20$ more for Ryzen 5-3600 or downgrade to i3-9100F to get a monitor as well and upgrade later this year to 10th gen
that cpu is like $150
if i upgrade mobo, gpu and cpu, do i have to start a brand new system or is dere a way for me to keep my data in my drives
i3 is 75$
i3 9100f is
yea
@oblique comet ryzen 3 3300x is coming out and its almost as strong as the i7 7700k according to linus tech tips but i3 9100f is an absolute good deal i have it and based in the data from youtube
i3 9100f isnt that big of a gap away from i5 9400f like a few fps for gamings and the price is good imo
But when is Ryzen 3 3300X coming out, about the time 10gen is coming out, right?
generally some time near or around the same time frame
that would be about 2months without pc
plus the month it may take the items to get to my country
what country are you in.....?
Venezuela
by that time i3-10 gen which might be about the same as 3300X would be out even tho i'd be considering upgrade to i5 of course, and in both cases i'd need to change CPU and MOBO
Does anyone know how I can sync my GPU with corsair Icue
I know about the Asus AURA software but it never works for me.
I also think the Corsair Icue interferes with it.
Back again. My new computer is still having problems when I play games like tarkov and star citizen. My frames are great in tarkov, around 70-100 depending on map, after a bit of time, the screen shuts off and my computer does a really quick reboot that makes me sign in again an start up whatever I had opened previously. Some people on here suggested it was my psu. I was using a raidmax before. I switched it out for an older evga 500w psu I had from before, and the problems continued. I deleted and redownloaded my gpu drivers using the amd radeon software and the problem persisted. My cpu is not overheating and the fan is flush. Everything is properly installed. This happened once before with my old xfx 380 when I was playing rust, but never happened on tarkov and star citizen. Once I began to use my radeon rx 5700, these problems started. Is this a major gpu problem that requires a new unit, or is there something I can do?
I would send my build using pc part picker, but I cant send links.
looking for the cheapest possible build to play cod looking for a friend
@floral walrus dm it to me I can paste it in for you
looking for the cheapest possible build to play cod looking for a friend
@little leaf I think you could get the build I was saying earlier.. with the i3 9100F
Thx
@floral walrus Bad PSU. iirc your other PSU was bad as well. A good suggestion is to get an actually decent PSU that isnt group regulated and has decent all round perf
What do you recommend? The evga psu was one I used since 2016 on my old build.
And is there anything else that would cause a reboot besides a crummy psu?
@floral walrus we recommend any PSU that is not a Chinese bargain bin IED waiting to happen
here is the Tier list, generally any thing from tier 3 or higher (Tier S - Tier 3) is acceptable, however keep in mind Tier 3 is usually pushing it and really is more your in a bind and need something useable and safe as quickly as you can get and low cost
https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40/
And this is FYI why you are better off running away from a Chinese bargain bin IED (See attached pictures for Exhibits A and B)
