sometimes when i add a drive or something like that, pc will start cycling through the boot screen or will stop detecting an os, and clearing cmos seems to fix it but only sometimes? whatsup with that

there are a number of hidden partitions on those drives

#

those partitions are connected to the boot process

#

which is why your bios gets quite confused

You can turn of boot from usb inside your UEFI.

in disk management, selected the drive and right click the partitions that you want to delete.

ONLY do this on the drive you have connected (which is making the behaviour that you mentioned earlier)

do NOT try and do this do any of the other drives

i dont think so, use the usb to do a clean boot and seperate the drives u want to keep the importatnt stuff, c drive is for sure getting wiped im not too sure whats on e drive but i moved some documents around just in case and b drive will be unplugged as that has alot of older documents that may be important.

I literally do everything around the house everything they took off my door they always 24/7 tell me to do things like to bring the cup that they had that is 2 inches away from them to the kitchen and I do respect my dad since he does hard work and deserves a break but all my mom has to do is take calls look at car damage make an estimate and send checks for only like 2-3 more hours than I do schoolwork.

depending on your build a good rule of thumb is to get at least 80% above your rated power requirement, some brands I have had good luck with (though most of these are either Tier 1 or Tier 2 PSUs anyways) are Corsair CX series (if I need something that fits in the budget range but gives me good quality), Silverstone, and currently run a Corsair SF 550W PSU (IIRC its a platinum)

For more on what I am talking about as far as the tier list is concerned (the higher the tier the better Tier S being the really good ones and Tier 1 being the top end, and going down to Tier 5 or 6 (T6 just stay away from these please) you can visit https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40/

also reason why I say stay away from the Tier 6 PSUs (note if there are any more tiers beyond Tier 6 they also are being included in the stay away warning) is pictured above. I hope this info help answer your question and sorry for the wall o' text but I figure I might as well help you get the best for your build.

As for any psu decision please make sure you get a quality psu, don’t cheap out or worse don’t get one of the Chinese IEDs

I would look at any of the PSUs with in Tier S, Tier 1 or Tier 2 (Tier 2/Tier 3 would be more the if your in a pinch and Tier 3 would be really pushing it honestly as in your in a real emergency levels of oh POOP)

because realistically for one, you arent going to be torture testing your PC much. Two being that PSUs only at bad quality will die off quickly at 90% load
3950x peak is 145w
2080Ti peak is 375w
rest of system peak is like 70w
That's 590w peak, on a torture test, stock mind you. Averages are going to be a fair bit less. 3950x is 125w average torture, 2080Ti is like 360w average torture, rest of system is probs like 40w - 60w. That puts it at 545w average torture. Let alone being less on just standard heavy workloads. 2080Ti average heavy standard use is like 290w as an example

@mint knot if you want to use that NVME SSD as your boot drive, yes you can, IIRC I think you may have asked the same question yesterday and I also replied, but you will be just fine, keep in mind formatting the NVME SSD and installing windows WILL destroy any existing data on the drive, before doing any thing I would make sure you have any thing important backed up before hand

... I really need to go ahead and buy my case while it's on sale. Even if I plan to wait on the rest of the parts, nothing is likely to come out that would invalidate a standard ATX case anytime soon.

Not wanting to "hijack" this thread ... however I am piecing together a gaming PC from a prebuilt I jumped the gun a few months back.
Current build is;
MOBO ASUS prime b540
CPU Ryzen 7 2700 and
RAM venegeance pro 16g
GPU RTX 2060 super
Just ordered a Ryzen 5 3600X, will my MOBO be sufficient or what should I be looking at .... been out of this game for 20+yrs.
GPU opgrade will be in the coming year or so once I see a "need" for it.

the reason your list flipped to the tomahawk is you edited/interacted with the tomehawk list and then went back to the other list
