and i assume you already have more storage/are going to buy more later
Yes. At the moment I'm planning to buy 256 gb ssd, but later will try to upgrade it to 500 to 1 tb.
ok
i would go with something like this, its $25 more than your original build but has a 1660 super instead of a 570 which is much better
Alright cool, thank you so much. I think I might have a few more questions. So when I was chatting with a friend about it, he was telling me something about the bronze for the PSU not being the best or something along the lines of that
Is this alright and once I get more money could I replace it and the 1660 with the same chassis?
the efficiency rating doesnt matter a whole lot, what actually matters is the quality of the psu, and yes that case should support many upgrades
Ah ok that's great to hear. My last question right now is just about supplies. I know I have to get thermal paste and already plan to order some soon. My friend said I just also need a magnetic screw driver and that's all I had to get and I was done.
Any recommended brands for magnetic screw drivers?
magnetic screw driver isnt neccesary but will make your job so much easier. if you are willing to spend the money, the iFixIt kit is the best little tool kit i've ever boughten
this is the one i have. great for just about any electronic device lol https://www.ifixit.com/Store/Tools/Pro-Tech-Toolkit/IF145-307?o=4
The Pro Tech Toolkit, the industry standard for electronics and computer technicians, has all the tools to repair smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs, and video game consoles. Part #: IF145-307-4
and it comes with a grounding bracelet so you dont accidentally short out your build. if you dont use that make sure you destatic by touching bare metal before handling your parts
Oh ok I'll look into this and I keep hearing about that and was confused about it
its just a good quality kit for building pcs, fixing phones, laptops, etc etc. its a little pricey but i think it's worth it and it's come in handy quite a bit for me but i also like to tinker with stuff haha
I see lol. Tinkering with stuff seems fun tbh. I don't think I would do it though since I'm afraid to. I think I have a toolkit, I'll have to check since it's been a year, but if not I'll try to see if I can pick this up, thanks.
np and good luck 🙂

Looking at 2 sets of grill trident memory
1st set 16 19 19 39
2nd set 14 14 14 34
There's about 100 dollars difference in the price, is it a noticeable difference and is it worth the extra money
Both sets are 2 x16gb
Not enough to warrent an extra 100
Well if you look around you can find better prices too
@subtle halo would that be your build?
guys, im at a crossroads. im building a system for my gf, and want it to be ryzen based seeing as it seems to be the best value. But i cant decide if i should go with a R5 1600 (AF skew, on 12 nm process, basically a 2600) or should i jump to the R5 2600 instead? its about a $35 difference with the 1600 AF being cheaper
Whichever is cheaper @wary geode
As long as the mhz speed isnt bad, id go with the cheaper
Corsair it is then thanks
Yeah it’s 90 for the Corsair vengeance pro white
And 100 for the g skill
Thanks
if the speed and timings are fine
P400a
@jade grove go for the 1600 AF, newer technology and basically same performance even a little faster and cheaper. Win win win there
@long fractal its not a little faster, but significantly better value
Out of stock sometimes
yea its in stock and not inflated rn https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Processor-Wraith-Stealth-Cooler/dp/B07XTQZJ28
the only reason to get the 2600 over it is for slightly better clock speeds
I'd rather spend the money saved on a gammax and overclock the af than get a 2600
@upper condor yea icic, more power efficient tho with the 12nm vs 14nm or something?
looking for 450w power supply upgrade for a dell model l280p-01
its hard to find the right dimension
trying to build a sleeper lol
@wheat epoch that model number is the PSU itself
yup
and i am guessing that you are looking for a replacement right? (which is not a DELL unit)
yes
then the actual machine model could help
because that PSU is used in some models where a normal atx actually fits
bigger 450w with right demension
l280p-01 <- that shape is very much a custom dell unit
meaning, you can either buy any of the replacement units that are available or you can buy one of the original units that are available.
na won't work
its like 4 7/8 wide
4 inch high
5" 3/8 long
can't put any one in there its tight
please read what i said again.
okay, lets try one more time:
What is the model of the CASE that you are trying to find a psu for
DCNE
@willow mulch we stan integrated
@wheat epoch that is a Optiplex
think so can't tell
and depending on how much of the inside you can free up, a regular ATX psu might actually fit
however, a SFX will fit
but it will require a bracket
ok sfx
the main problem is the way that the inside of the case is
ya pretty much lol
yup
@sudden turret can you grant picture posting rights to @wheat epoch ?
yes, which is what i have asked one of the mods to fix for you :)
ok
@subtle halo can you grant picture posting rights to @wheat epoch ?
ok post image @wheat epoch
@subtle halo
try to upload image now
thank you @subtle halo :)
👍🏻
@wheat epoch could you post a picture of the top of the inside of the case?
thank you
based on the last pic, SFX seems the simplest solution
because that gives you the most amount of space to work with on the inside
ok thanks
your main challenge is going to be the GPU placement [edit: your]
m-atx seems too big?
you still need a space for the IO on the board
and you need the physical "room" for the card itself
which will probably mean, m.2 or 2.5 ssd
m.2 being preferred
so that you can potentially use the space where the 3.5 hdd is now
maybe @celest horizon or @austere condor has something to add, both having some experience with quirky builds
ya it's not the actual board im going to put in there
just to see if the micro atx would fit
i will use that 3.5 hdd for now
and that ome io im going to cut it and make the other one fit
the current IO in the case is not what i am worried about
that is trivial to cut and get working
its the actual space for things that are going to be interesting
What size fans will fit?
ok
Linus used one of these to run a R7 3700x and a RTX 2060 in a SFF build
ok 300w
So my friend needed help because 8gb of his 16 wasn't being recognized and we figured out that not only were the ram in the wrong dimm slots, 1 of the sticks also wasn't plugged in. After plugging in both sticks and moving them to the correct dimm slots his computer won't post now
the lights turn on and the fans spin but the display keyboard and mouse don't turn on
any ideas?
we did
so it doesn't post at all?
correct
just remove all of it and keep one and it will post and try again putting it back in
we tried using only one stick and same result
wow ok
we tried different sticks in different slots and nothing
ive never experienced this befiore
before
Have you tried clearing the cmos?
on the motherboard for bios
I can't get into the bios
just remove the battery on the motherboard
oooh nvm i get it
ya lol
kk
its annoying because im not at his house rn so im in a face time with him instructing him so the communication is slow
ya lol
ill have to put the battery back in
after
set the time and date again in bios if it post
the battery is under the gpu and he doesn't want to remove it
you still here @foggy hazel ?
ya ok there must have some pins with a cap on it move it and should clear it
move it where
the other 2
ive never done this before and i need to explain it to him
can you take a clearer picture please?
this is my board since im not with him rn. could you instruct me based on my board
move it to 3 and 4
@buoyant flame find the battery
the battery is under his gpu which he doesn't want to remove
sorry 2 and 3
ok i assumed
If he just takes out gpu and then grabs flat head screw and rub it against the 2 pins itll clear it
yup
I don't think i can convince him to take the gpu out and frankly i don't trust him to. He is incredibly unsure of himself
if i was at his house i would do it but im not
Its soooo easytho
just move that cap to 2 and 3
ok
ok
Excuse the dust
this is his board
i can't find it
is it under the front io pins possibly?
@wheat epoch
I can't find the pins with the cap on them
his board is the ASRock z390 pro 4b
if that helps
ok
@willow mulch what fans are those?
@buoyant flame aye
that is board dependant @wheat epoch
@buoyant flame
a fair number of new boards dont have a 3 pin-out
you will have to go there lol
ya... thats not gonna be fun
2sec @buoyant flame
ok
just to verify: https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z390 Pro4/index.asp <- thats the board right?
i believe so
its a brebuilt from bestbuy and i took the board name from here
ok ill look for that naed
https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html <- grab the zip here
just unzip and run
there is a tab that tells him what it is
diagram its saying clmos1 3pin
doh!!
i can't run it because his pc wont boot
ok
that is what i get for being focused on 4 things at the same time :)
sorry about that @buoyant flame
np
https://www.asrock.com/mb/photo/Z390 Pro4(L2).png <- look at the bottom right quarter of the board
see the z390 pro4 legend/text ?
yes
tell your mate to confirm if that is there or not
ok one sec
bottom of GPU
he can't find it
im trying so hard rn hold on
he just sent me this
do you see it?
its not the PRO 4 board
humph
but yes, i do see it
where
that is for you to figure out, but it is there @buoyant flame
@wheat epoch different boards
yup seen that
what is he looking for?
@buoyant flame its a 2 pin, its close to another 2 pin
@wide sparrow the fans are gamdias aeolus m1-120s
i thought that wasn't his board
@sacred obsidian dont tell him. But he is looking for the clrmos (clear cmos) pins
im so lost lol
clearmos1
@buoyant flame the picture you sent
right there
@wheat epoch have a bit of patience here
@buoyant flame on that picture, i can see the pins you are looking for
does it say CLRMOS1 underneath? (yes i know it does)
its too blury for me
then open the original
because that is actually a really good picture
in a fairly bonkers resolution
im sorry i must be seeing a different picture
can you hop in a call with me real quick?
thats better
that is the picture YOU sent @buoyant flame
wow yah lol im stupid i didnt open the original i was looking at it in discord
ok so touch those pins with a flathead then?
yes
and then what
did he pull the power from the board before he did that?
he hasn't done it yet hold on
he did it and nothing happened
he drained the power and then touched them and nothing happened @foggy hazel
ok so now what
power back in
ok
now please tell me where he has the monitor connected?
ill check one second
@willow mulch thanks
Np
i have another question tho
Speke
how long did he wait before saying it doesnt turn on
cause when adding ram it can not do anything for a lil bit
the pc turns on and the fans spin but the monitor keyboard and mouse do not
we waited like a few minutes
wait like at least 10
lmao
there are no stupid questions, only silly answers @buoyant flame
ok we're going to wait and see what happens
at the moment its still the same thing
a bit of focus on the questions you get asked @buoyant flame :)
wdym?
"ill check one second" <- the answer?
oh my bad let me ask him im sry
nothing to be sorry about.
and you are certain of that right?
he just checked
no i did not personally see it
i have no way of knowing if he knows where his GPU actually is
ya this is frustrating because he's talking to someone else and im talking to you and him and the stupid video call keeps breaking up. Ik that he knows where his gpu is tho
well, here is a bit of advice for you @buoyant flame
if someone cannot give you their full attention while they are asking you for help? tell them to go jump on a lamppost
because obviously it is not "that" important for him to fix it
lol ya well he was giving me his full attention before so we're like kinda stuck now but ill have to wait
thx for your help. I rly just want to go over there and get the stupid thing fixed 😭
you know that i dont mind helping, not one bit.
im wondering if he just didnt seat the ram properly
However, you have to keep in mind. People read/hear what they "think" you are saying.
cause you gotta push a lot harder than most people are comfortable doing if they dont do it often
hence why i asked about the GPU
there are a bunch of questions that could be asked @sacred obsidian
but until mr Busy gets his head in the game, nothing we can do
tru
Ya theres definately a chance he didn't seat it properly because he'
he's never done it before but i was trying to watch him and the slots did click in so idk
@buoyant flame go over the start of this with us
ok sure thing
so basically heres the story. He asked me if he should buy more ram since he only had 8gb. I knew he couldn't possibly have 8gb in a prebuilt with an i7 8700 and a gtx 1080. I asked him to show me his ram slots. Everything looked fine so i told him to unplug them and plug them back in. He saw that one of the sticks was not put in properly and we took them out and put them back in. Ever since they were put back in the system has not booted.
thats basically it
let me know if i need to elaborate in any areas
Have you tried a single ram stick in?
yes
how long has he had the machine?
okay
woah he just texted me he got in the bios somehow
lemme call him and find out whats happening rn hold on
nice yes
you know...... sometimes you gotta be patient and forgiving
what was it
called it
thought so
i wasted so much time with something i literally could of done in 30 seconds
people who dont do this normally are usually afraid to push it as hard as you need to
that was exactly the case
hold on he said his screen and everything turned off again now
this is never gonna end
at this point
@buoyant flame i would like to remind you of what i said earlier: "However, you have to keep in mind. People read/hear what they "think" you are saying."
tell him to join the discord
i mean like if you have to keep relaying stuff, it will be easier to be able to go directly to him. faster response and all
ya but i don't think he will but ill ask in a minute
but also at this point id typically like to have eyes on the pc
and i would like to point to what i said about a lamppost @buoyant flame
yep i remember 😂
he said no btw
ok im done with the problem
i think he has it now
thx again for all the feedback guys
rly appreciate it
👍🏻
i literally just wasted 2 hours of my life because he didn't put the ram in correctly... but whateever
you guys made it more bearable 😉
you are very welcome @buoyant flame
If I buy an electronic from amazon do I get a random outlet for a monitor or the power supply or is it like they check
what
what is a good build for 800$? 850$ max if you think that 50$ will drastically increase the performance
also possible to fit a ryzen 3600 and 5600xt/5700 in that budget?
is this the place where i ask for help because am nub and just built new pc and have to work out a few kinks?
lmao
baller. working with a NZXT h710i case and asus prime x570-p mobo. case comes pre-wired with their fan/led controller and 2 LED strips and 4 case fans. 3 front/1 rear. i got the LED's going but the fans wont spin. nzxt cam app sees the fans. i can adjust the profiles for the fans. but they wont start. what did i screw up?
@outer locust yes it is
assuming you go a bit cheaper on the other components
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fYKZGc
hey i am just wondering what are opinions on motherboards for a ryzen 5 3600
@rapid oak what budget?
mid range and don't need wifi
mid range, so like $100? they start at about $70 and go up to 150
yeah around that
yeah i have head that is good
there really isnt anything that competes with it
ok thanks just making sure cause that was the one i was thinking about
with that particular board, one of the strengths is that there is a decent soundcard on it
so IF your audio gear is mini-jack based, thats the board for you
I mean also 2x NVMe M2 slots (seems like some other dual M2 based boards this cheap is 1x NVMe + 1x SATA only)
Is anybody familiar with linux registration editor?
Please dm me
Thanks
What’s a better case Corsair 275R or 275R Airflow?
probably airflow, because... well... airflow
@timber trench depends on the wattage you need
@timber trench https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Y3bCmG/phanteks-amp-550-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ph-p550g_us01 <- that can handle just about anything you throw at it
I7-8700 vs i7-9700k pros and cons (is hyper threading worth it?)
Seems pretty good but $90 for 550W idk? @foggy hazel
Voltage ripple/regulation, transient response, protections, cap quality, fan noise, lack of coil whine, fan quality, fully modular, etc are all the reasons as to why the PSU above was chosen @timber trench
As of right now there aren't any PSUs that beat it in quality at that price except for some Bitfenix PSUs that are usually out of stock
hum quick question
galax 1080ti hof edition says it requires 3x 8pin connectors.is the 3rd just for the added rgb plate or this beast kills electricity like i kill tacos?
Isn't that a card more made to be ready for LN2 OC and stuff? So as such kinda needs to have the stupid amounts of pin usage
idk i was about to buy one because they are looking really nice and all with the all white build and the lcd screen, but hell they have a 3 x 8pin connector, cant imagine a card that needs such power..
Hei where ur pfp from
i found this https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100
pretty useful
@formal coyote how much are you paying, those are kind of like kingpin cards but less extreme. if its more than $425 id pass
and it draws around 300w, dont think you need the third 8 pin unless xoc/extreme overclocking
@cursive wharf is it worth the same price of a Semi-Modular 750W PSU tho?
I trying to post a picture of the two PSU’s but I can’t send pics here I guess
anyways the other psu is the Corsair CX-M PSU
@timber trench apart from 3.3v rail transient response that PSU is worse in every other regard
@deep skiff 500 (canadian tho so like 380-400 US maybe )
I see
Main things to consider is noise and modularity. The CXM has coil whine issues, a louder fan, and is only semi modular instead of fully modular
Ah Alright APM is it then, thanks for the help
And 550W should be able to handle upgrade in the futures right? Like a 2070 and R7 3800X?
550w can handle upto stock 3950x + 2080Ti
no way in hell my 550w b3 can power up this 3 x 8 pin
bruh
Hi. Im needing a lil help putting my computer together. Mainly the wiring connectoer and where they go
This says hd audio but its from the front panel
And for memory, im guessing for 2 mem cards goes in bank b on each?
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MoonlightGZ/saved/3zWn7P Budget Build Thoughts?
@formal coyote For the most part that GPU will peak at about 300w - 350w I'd assume. It'll go more if OCed. Just because it has 3x8pin doesnt mean it'll use it
@timber trench RAM is overpriced, SSD is overpriced, GPU is overpriced, case is overpriced, and fans are overpriced. Lots of money wasted
SSD has very fast read and write speed for half the price of an EVO+
RAM has RGB, 3200MHz, 2x8GB
GPU has RGB and is known as a good budget GPU
Case has good airflow and 3 included 120mm fans
Fans match the case, have controllable RGB, and includes an internal fan controller
Those are the reasons why I thought they are worth the money but you want to give suggestions feel free to do so
:v every time you say rgb you pay more for it
Rgb costs more
Those fans are expensive. There's decent rgb fans are Amazon that perform well. You pay for brand name with corsair
Corsair has really good software to control and sync other RGB products I own that’s why I went with Corsair
If you find better and cheaper fans please feel free to send them over
I need help
heres an idea of a build you could do if you didn't spend money on rgb https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4YFgq3
I have a Dell Optiplex 7020 desktop running windows 10 and need an HDMI output card, any recommendations? thanks,
@timber trench if corsair is the only software you use for rgb then your outta luck for non corsair fans (corsair doesn't have great support for anything but their own) if you have another software then I would recommend these
I don’t mind using other softwares
And I would go for that option but I don’t like a physical remote to control the rgb, software is way more convenient to me
Oh btw
For the 1660 Super
I didn’t notice the price when @cursive wharf mentioned it
Ya lol thats a bad price
But the price is usually $250 not $280 lol
I wouldn’t pay $280 for a 1660 Super
I’d get a TI at that point
Are you planning on vertically mounting your gpu?
Or even a 2060
Nah
Maybe in the future but not on first build
I’ll keep it horizontally for a while at first then I might make it vertical
Ok so just FYI, fgb on a gpu that isn't vertically mounted is not worth it imo. I'd rather get a 2060 like u said 👍
Ah
I see your point
Is there a 2060 you recommend for a good price with rgb only on the sides? (Rgb optional)
I mean like u can see it when you look from under it but otherwise its definitely not a major reason to get it
I can look real quick
K
Kinda hard to find at that price point since everything is a 2060 super now for like 400 but there is this one
Has a rebate to put you right under 350 😉
Oh that’s the same one I was looking at but a 2060 lol
Yep
Not bad with a rebate
However at that point its probably better to save a little and get a 2060s fe
Ik its a lot more tho
Yeah but I need to get parts fast since COVID-19 is a big thing and limiting shipments
Ok. Its definitely not the safe way
Yeah lol
I'm gonna look a little more tho
Ik
Too expensive tho
Non rgb
Decent card
So now I’m between 1660 Super $250 and a 2060 $320
Pretty much
If the 1660S price goes down
Cause Ik $280 is not worth it
I’ll get it
But if it stays $280
I’ll get the 2060
Yeah but since my budget is $1,200 I can fit rgb into the price
I’ve been trying to build a pc for a while and I’m slacking , my budget is 1,518USD . Im trying to make a build for pure gaming, I want to play escape from tarkov,rust,squad,arma3,dayz games like those. First build and I already have a cpu which is a ryzen 5 3600 . Please help this poor soul
I just can’t figure out what to buy
Do you have a parts list?
No
May I send you the ones I’ve been sent . Can you see if there good or not?
Sure
Thank u
And yes I need a monitor and a case . Already have headset and keyboard and mouse
Let me fix this for you
and just to clarify, you have already bought the 3600?
its the "box" version where the cooler is included?
Yea , it has that stock cooler
it does not magically make your wifi faster :)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/s2KpFG @clever sluice
Lol ok , may you explain what the good thing about having WiFi with your motherboard
@timber trench thx I’ll look at it and save it in my notes
WiFi in a mobo is way faster than buying an average WiFi card
@timber trench wrong.
I’m not wrong I’ve tested it before
Getting WiFi separate from the motherboard
@clever sluice the advantage of wifi "in" the mainboard is price and convenience.
Unless you get a high-end WiFi card it might be better
Hm , if I don’t get a motherboard with WiFi I’ll have to by a WiFi card ? So I can connect my pc to the WiFi ? Sorry I’m new to this
Oh , I never knew that . How come people don’t add WiFi cards to there build list then
Most use Ethernet
because people generally try to NOT use wifi
Ethernet is much faster
I have to use WiFi tho
Cause the router is way to far from my room
But yeah if you can use Ethernet I highly recommend it
Wait Ethernet? Lol I’m so lost . What’s that ? Do you mean internet
Lol
Lol
Internet but not WiFi
@clever sluice do you currently have a machine?
Ethernet is a wired connection
A cable from the router to your pc
WiFi is a wireless connection
Machine ? Wired ? ..... Ight hold up . Right now I have a internet router . Wireless
Oh so Ethernet is wired
You can hook up a wire to the router
And then hook up that wire to the pc
That’s Ethernet
Ahh
Yeah
Yea I can’t do that since my router is like in my living room
Hm ok
its not an alternative, it is a requirement.
Well it’s a requirement if you can’t use Ethernet
Oh ok
Alternative if you can but rather not
which he just said he cant.
So to clarify , to have my pc connected to the internet I need to have a WiFi card ? Or I could use a motherboard with WiFi in it or something
Yes
WiFi cards go into a PCIe x1 slot so make sure you have one that won’t be in use which most likely you will
What would I put in a PCle x1 other then a WiFi card ?
There are many different things you could put
ready for the next question @clever sluice ?
@foggy hazel hold on , would I be able to hear sound with a headset even without a sound card ?
yes
Oh ok
because you have a soundcard IN the mainboard
^
Yea
You’re good then
is it usb or minijack?
It’s wireless , it’s for my Xbox tho but I could use a usb and connect it into my pc since apparently it only connect to Xbox sadly
could you find the specific model of headset for us ?
Sure
Yeah I want to see what kind of headset this is lol
Yup
Bluetooth
I just hold a button the the headset then it connects
@foggy hazel I don’t have that in my Xbox
i know
Oh, sorry
because the xbox is built for it
Oh
nothing to be sorry about :)
and if you look at the turtlebeach link, you will see them mention that usb adapter
:0 would I be able to put that in my pc and then I could connect to it on my pc
But I’m not sure but maybe just a normal Bluetooth adapter works
@foggy hazel correct me if I’m wrong
Hm
i have not tried it with any of the headsets, so i dont know
Oh ok
but it would NOT be surprised if it doesnt work with the on-board (in the mainboard bluetooth)
so, the dongle would be a requirement.
Oh
Alright
do you have any specific requirements in regards to the size and look of the case itself?
Hm well honestly for like everything overall i just what performance over looks . So if a ugly case is a beast then I’ll take the ugly case
fair
monitor question
have you got any idea about the size of the monitor you want?
Hm well my desk is ... hold on
59 inches wide and 30 inches long
you most likely mean inches
That’s big
Which is good ?
Yea
27inch is the practical limit with that depth
because you will be too close otherwise
(the list you linked Moonlight, you might want to rework it, because it doesnt take into account most of what has been talked about)
Might be right
I have a tv ln my room and it’s 29 inches wide and 17/18 inches tall and when I put it on my desk it felt pretty big
okay, we will return to the monitor question in a bit :)
Ok
next question: do you have any idea about what kind of storage you need/want?
amount wise
and dont worry if you dont
I’m gonna have to hop off for a bit, Naed will help you with the rest!
Hmm I feel like I definitely want at least 1 tb
I’m trying to figure out how much storage my Xbox one s has
you have given me enough info about storage @clever sluice
Mkay
your One S most likely has a 1tb drive in it
(where a part of it is reserved for the console itself)
oh yes, upgrading storage is very very simple to do
Ok that’s good so if someday I need more then 1tb that’ll be good
current rate is about 55 usd per 2 tb
For a 2 tb hdd?
Ssd is faster but more money correct?
yes
Hm
1tb ssd is about 100usd
I see a lot of people get a 500 ssd for system and stuff and use a 1 tb hdd for games
aye
Is that smart ?
Yea and apparently if I would do that my startup time would be fast but my games load time would be decent which is fine with me
its a bit more complicated than that, but close enough for now :)
😄 ok
Hm well that’s good to know lol since I feel like I’ve just asked a ton of stupid questions
Tru, thank you
just because they might be trivial for me to answers, does not mean they are stupid questions.
there are plenty of things in other areas that i dont know jack about :)
you are very welcome :)
i have a list that i am putting together for you, and i am getting to the monitor part now
Ok great
sidenote: your TV, what model is that @clever sluice ?
there should be a model number on the bezel of it somewhere
@clever sluice how firm is your budget?
Pretty firm . I’m only 15 and I don’t have a job anymore since
okay
and just to make 100% certain that i dont misunderstand something.
that is for the machine + monitor
but without the cpu itself?
(because you already have the cpu)
Yes sir
good
next question
do you have a usb stick (8+ gigs)?
because you will need one for the installation of windows.
No
any brothers/sisters that might have one you could borrow for a day?
or your parents for that sake
Oh wait just like a usb stick
yeah, you also need a pc to put windows installer on the usb stick. but i just got here so im not sure if you already have one
so that part is solved. good
Sweet
okay
so, currently i am having a debate about what kind of monitor you would want
because depending on that, your GPU goes up/down a model
related question: you used to playing on a pc at all?
as in, did you go to friends houses and play etc?
No, I don’t have a lot of experience with gaming on pc
(i am asking to get a feel for the requirements you might have for the monitor)
hm
nope. not going to work "right"
so, this si the current suggestion @clever sluice
which is 1450-ish budget wise
Ok I’ll look
the difference between that list and the others you have linked so far is this:
ive asked what you actually needed and wanted
and tried to find parts that actually fit that.
why x570 instead of a board like the b450 tuf pro or pro carbon?
o ic
@timber trench Cheap tempered glass case is $45 or so. A five pack of RGB fans is $37. Totalling about the same price as the case itself and not including the extra fans. For RAM you're spending the same amount that'd get you 2x8gb 3200 CL14 or 3600 CL16. SSD is overpriced for what it is. Sure it's cheaper then Samsung, but that doesnt mean it isnt overpriced
didnt read the convo yet lol
From Moonlight from a little while ago
about 2.5 hours ago I think
Sick and I subtracted the cpu cost and it’s perfect . One thing I’m worried about is taxes
also @clever sluice every single other list is either missing something or something doesnt have a price.
How much would it boost my price is what I’m scared about
@foggy hazel that is true
price should be what you see there
but, i am not a US resident, so i dont know your local state rules all that well
Oh ok
the 1446 you seen in the list @clever sluice is with the CPU subtracted.
@loud apex pfp from the anime Darker then Black. It's fairly okay. Not many people like the ending nor does it do a good job at explaining some details that're kinda important
wrong chat @cursive wharf ?
nah, another message from many hours ago
or just old as all ?
aye
Just pasted link so I can view it again ^
:)
x570 mobo is not nedded, but its good for future upgrades
when the other option is a 150usd board, paying the 4usd extra for all the other things that the 570 board brings, is imo the only sane choice. @vague crystal
yeah
also, for a machine that is intended to last a good long time, and be upgraded in the future? it all adds up in favour of the 570
The meshify c is good as well
With added fans it is
Is this a good ssd
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MTQTNVR/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_VjcEEbR5VMPD8
Sure is
it is.
Just expensive
I was going to buy that
But 280
was 270 before
Sad prices are slowly rising
just the brand price that is going up @wide sparrow
sabrent was cheap in the start
because it was unknown and turned out to be a good brand/series
What a shame
What's the point of a heatsink of you know?
remove heat from the chips
Anybody know anything about enermax stuff?
@foggy hazel idk, feel like Sabrent mostly just got hit with the NAND price rise. It's not like they were always the best for the price even before the price rise
they have ridden their reddit reputation for a long time now @cursive wharf
Oh wow, to remove the reddit rep, impressive
can someone do a pc part picker for a $700-$800 build? potentially streaming fortnite. (peripherals included) (1660ti or 2060KO preferred)
Ok I’ll give try
Any preferred amount of storage?
@wind leaf
Want rgb tempered glass?
Anything like that
Ok got it
nothing too extra
Give me some time because I’m in a class zoom
okay.
Duck, mouse and keyboard too
Here’s one you cam get a power supply for like 30 or 40 like I did 80+ bronze
There’s some things you can get it’s just a base line one for now
1111 did you really choose a keyboard with blue switches?
@wind leaf
ik it's cheap, but blue switches are a terrible idea for any streamer
alright
Ima change some things around
kinda just dumped money on ssd bc I don't like dealing with the ssd market
things change around so quickly
anyway so like heres mine i totally didnt just pick the cheapest periphirals https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Fwvbcq
i have teamgroup ram you absolute nerd
hey their b die is top notch
idk what i have and idrc, it works fine and dandy
ram is ram
bruh that power ranger ram is way worse
^
get some ripjaw v for the same price at least
there you happy now https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3xMw8M
yeah well it has a 2060 so be quiet
ima chill on this, can't think of much to shave money off soo
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/C6tQhg
mcbruh that's $60 over budget smh my head @stoic island
I got a better mobo in there but meh
mobo doesn't matter that much
2 m.2 slots and better soundchips don't matter as much in a build like that
@wind leaf you got headphones or speakers?
I'm not being sarcastic
it actually doesn't really matter
but I just want it in ma list
bc
Ah crap I forgot about the peripherals sorry my bad didn’t read clearly
my wifi was acting up sorry
the only thing about that list is the cpu isn’t really what i thought it would be
If I were Nike you can get some good stuff used as peripherals
Like you can get a cherry mx blue used for like 30 or 40
and can’t i just go with an ssd instead of getting a hdd
ryzen 5 2600 is good too
It is the Ryzen 5 2600
1600af is basically the 2600
Performs exactly the same as it
1600af uses the same process and fab as the 2600
but which one will last longer
the same
i can upgrade after a few years too right
Yep
hmm
but i didn’t buy the parts in time
Here lemme try another one since I have a better view of what you want
welcome back @wind leaf
