and to convince you, let me show you a review :)
that is the setup for what will follow
look at the "Load power consumption - furmark" graph
that is the worst case scenario
black bar is your card @wanton sail
and the cpu used in that test is a power hog compared to the 3700x
@wispy matrix what is that build supposed to be?
I’m working on my 1200 dollar build
That card seems low
a good start would be to stick with one set of ram
and just go stock on the CPU cooler
@foggy hazel thanks for help looks good
@wanton sail you are very welcome. I will warn you about this thou, if you share/show that list to others, they are going to whine about the mainboard being "wrong/not-fit/underpowered/bla bla bla"
ignore that
they will also "loudly" proclaim that you need a bigger PSU
ignore that too
Is it 3rd gen ready though? I cant find it on their website
I looked on newegg and even says it https://cdn.cnetcontent.com/syndication/mediaserverredirect/1904845db9b7c8ddda07714ed8871926/original.jpg
Nice
@wanton sail any questions or anything?
@foggy hazel the warning it gives I would just maybe have to flash the bios eh? Other than that just researching
pcpartpicker warning just ignore it
There is a lot of boards now coming at 3000 ready but the site won't really notice it like that so it would give off a compatibility warning
@wanton sail that is a false one, see the "cpu support list" i posted a picture of earlier? that is your board.
there is no need for a bios update.
retail sites would also tell him if it is 3000 ready
retail sites have a "interest" in being optimistic :)
but yes, generally retail sites will say so
Ah k yeah figured that was all thanks
except, newegg has no mention of that one @latent bronze
(unless i am blind, which is not impossible)
That cpu doesnt run hot enough for a cooler
K thought that might be case thanks
np
Ya the ASRock board would need a bios update
no, it would not :)
as i said, the cpu support link i pasted above? it has had support since the day that board was born
Well the board i want to replace mine to is this https://www.newegg.com/asrock-b450m-steel-legend/p/N82E16813157868?&quicklink=true
This is what i am using now
@wispy matrix dont pair r7 3700x with rx 580 for gaming
that's like buying a race car and putting square wheels on it
it ain't that bad man
downgrade cpu to r5 3600 and remove one of the 16gb ram
put that money towards a better gpu
can prob afford 2080S on that budget
single channel?
2x8 gb dual channel
he has 4 sticks rn
your games will run so much better if you do that
if your budget is 1200 there's no reason to go for entry level graphics
It is good to have 32gb of memory right now
RX 580 is more appropriate for a $500 build
I’m dealing with a 1200 budget and I want something like this (took this from build pics but I was actually was gonna design something like this
It’s not my full specs bc I’m new to the building PCs
you can go at LEAST 2070S on that budget
even if you want to keep the 32gb ram
I would recommend making all your ram modules the same though
I personally don't think 32gb ram is cost effective at this budget
@earnest olive i would like to remind you, machines have other purposes than pure gaming.
that's true but if he's going for an aesthetic like that it's probably a gaming rig
instead of "probably", please take the time to ask :)
@wispy matrix what is this used for? (Resolution, games, work uses)
This is gonna be used for gaming, designing and a bit of Work uses
What programs
Adope
Nothing special it's an older PC I finally hung up on the wall. However, I have the same case for the living room which those are more impressive because they are new if you'd like those, but if you want the old specs I can also give you those lol
@wispy matrix my build has the gtx 1660 super for gpu and the ryzen 7 2700x with the stock air cooler in it and two 8 gb sticks of corsair 3200 ram in a green raidmax gama case if you want to see close ups i can get them just let me know
that pic you got from build pics was my comp
Old rig in the office:

ASUS ROG Ryou
Lian Li PC-05SX & Wall Mount
I think I got everything lol
Wanted to do custom loops for both, but that will come eventually.
@vague elbow darn, i have not seen one of those logitech subs in a while
its the thx certified one?
Yeah, I've kept it around because it's the best sounding speakers I've heard for computers. Trying to keep it in as good shape as possible. The backlight on the main control has gone out though, but everything else works perfectly 🙂
Yes
the 5.1 version right?
Correct
i had the 4.1 predecessor for a number of years when it came out [edit: it]
2001 or something iirc
That was another good one. I definitely like surround so it's hard to get away from these. I haven't seen anyone else make another good surround setup like this one.
altec lansing did a number of years ago, but dont think they do anything like it anymore
klipsch makes something comparable
but ... price can be slightly different
I'm ok with price as long as it's worth it and will last a long time. Has to sound just as good as these though! 🙂
try and look up klipsch, and try and ask around to get to listen to a pair if possible
dont get scared away by their pro product line, they have pc setups too :)
I'll take a look around. These speakers actually sound so good I used them for a home theater setup for a while until I got a much better setup.
Granted the room was much smaller then lol
hm, it kinda looks like klipsch has stopped making them thou :(
Dang that sucks. Seems like Logitech still sells their Z906 speakers. I didn't like the newer ones because the wattage was lower on the speakers and sub IIRC.
https://www.klipsch.com/products/promedia-5-1-computer-speaker-system <- that is how they looked
look familiar?
Oh yeah! I remember those
also, try and pull the felt cover on your own speaker off
and things start looking quite similar :D
lol yeah. Sometimes I prefer the look with the cover off. I keep them on though for extra protection against something randomly hitting the cones since I can't replace these.
aye
understandable
but yeah, anything klipsch does now seems to be more traditional stuff
and at that point, i personally would rather go for studio gear
Yeah, that's understandable. There are a lot of other companies out there that sound just as good if not better than Klipsch.
oh yes
and i will happily admit i am a sucker for a good set of studio speakers in 2.0
Definitely because they sound amazing.
Is this motherboard of decent quality for a budget build? Someone said its bad quality.
https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B450M-DS3H-Ryzen-Motherboard/dp/B07FWVJSHC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Gigabyte+B450M+DS3H+Micro+ATX+AM4+Motherboard&qid=1581803649&sr=8-1
p
What did they say was bad about it?
@shrewd cobalt its a board, it will work just fine. it will however not score you any reddit points
(which, if you are going for those, i am fairly certain there is a bucket of sand i can put a price tag on )
So everything plugs into the pump?
by design
The other one isn’t tho
They are the exact same
One plugs into one fan, the plugs into the other fan
Hey can anyone help me my USB ports aren't working and my gpu out is also not working
Is this legit
Thought so
im sure this is the right place to ask this, but would someone be willing to look through this part list i found and see if there anythings you would change about it, looking to do my first starter build and want it to be best bang for buck. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ryanlibre/saved/PsJy4D i only play League of legends but im looking to get a 144hz monitor to max gameplay hopin this build can match that in fps
👍
who here has server raid card experience?
i need help with matching some fitings with some hardline tubeing
i suck at the measuremeant thing
all i know is the fittings need to be g1/4
cus im useing ekwb radiators
What kind of server raid card?
Is Mac good for gaming
MacDonald's is very bad for gaming, you want to maintain a healthy balanced diet to achieve pure gamer status
I mean the Apple Mac not the restaurant
I know, I kid :)
Good one tho
from what I have seen of most off the shelf Mac hardware, they don't appear to be too impressive, especially at the lower end (not really budget).
Alright
the GPUs in them are often smaller professional cards more comparable to something like a Radeon RX 560, though if you spec it out with enough buck you can get pretty good hardware in there
there's an issue of compatibility and cooling...a lot of games only support Windows, but there might be a way around that which I'm not aware of
and MacBooks especially are prone to thermal throttling issues, which may or may not be truly that bad
I don't use Apple hardware 🙃
Nice
they need new batteries, or to be turned into desktop only machines
@wild pulsar Nice looking, specs?
Ryzen 9 3900, 5700xt red dragon, 32g 2800mhz ram (needs upgraded) tuf x570 Lian li lancool 205 case, coolmaster ml280
And thank you I also just installed three new front fans and one exhaust, the lancool specs says it’ll only fit 2 120/140 fans in front, not if you pull the drive cage then you can fit 3 lol
Yeah hate when cases say that
That ram could maybe be overclocked, doubt it though
Those custom cables look super nice
Btw u can boot windows into a MacBook but I dunno how
Boot camp
Easiest way to install windows on a mac is using the bootcamp assistant app built onto all macs
Yeah use BootCamp Assistant
Only thing you need to do is download an ISO file and you’re good to go
Just got my new build together! Super excited about it. Its not exactly what I wanted, I needed to make ends meet but I have the mobo I need which means my biggest potential bottleneck is out of the way. Had to cheap on the cpu because I would rather just not spend as much money on that part since I plan to upgrade it anyway
x570 Asus Pro, 2700x, 3200 32gb ram, m.2 ssd intel 660p, 2060 rtx
and a floppy drive because I have a sick sense of humor
still trying to decide on a video card here, I got 16 gigs of DDR3 ram in this machine and an old EVO 850 250gig SSD and an AMD FX-8350 Black CPU.. what would be the best card to get for this machine?
I don't have the money to upgrade anaything else and my budget for the card is under $300 canadian
lookign at the 580 RX
its between a 570rx or 580rx, 590rx would be overkill
Used rx480 for $100 is pretty good
Overclock it and you get close to 580 performance
i know nothing about OCing
You could pair it with a ryzen 3 and probably be under $300 total for upgrades
and I don't want to buy a second hand video card
lol my mobo would nede to be replaced as well
Ofc
A 590 is like a oced 580
1660 super is overkill for a fx8350, but it will serve you nicely for many years
Overclocking gpus is t that hard, definitely not as hard as cpu overclocking
1650 super is also really good
For a fx?
In general
Oh yeah that will bottleneck
But on the plus side, if you get more money, you can upgrade your CPU and your GPU will keep up
If you have a fx processor you probably just want to wait for a whole pc upgrade
i only have many for a video card peepz
Save
i can pickup a gigabyte RX 570 5 GB Rev2 for $159 canadian
is that as fast as I can get without bottlenecking?
or Can i get faster?
or I can get the RX 580 8gb for $234 cdn
how do I check my pc temp?
Hardware monitor from cpuid can give you temps
It is useful for a lot of things https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
what does PCH,MOS mean?
looking for some RGB advice
no but ill make one
i already have a build
my issue is software seems to cause skipping or audio lag
and im curious if anyone knows a fix
What software
well the one i use for my MOBO is MSI
Mystic Light
but i took it off
i use Logitech G Hub for my keyboard
i wish there was one i could use for everthing
im about to buy an 2070S with the RGB so thats gonna add more
and my MOBO and cooler have RGB that i dont have software running for since it lags
Any nice fan coolers that support a LGA 1156 socket?
Or should I just build a pc using parts from this decade instead of using this late 00’s prebuilt that somehow can play games that are less than 10 years old
Probably the latter @zenith glade
you start by reading the manual that comes with the board :)
it has step by step instructions for that
assuming its a M.2 drive, right here
You might have to move the standoff screw if the M.2 drive is a different size.
which will all be mentioned in the manual :)
hence why, reading the manual, is a fair piece of advice.
^^
just like the guy that screwed in his m.2 with the actual standoff... bending his drive..
5 mins of reading up on your product will save you a great deal of headache and questions.
we cannot help you, if you are not willing to help yourself
so far, you have not shown that you are willing to help yourself
Unless your illiterate
*you're
@median sail bruh all those fans are like $500
i would never spend over 500-600 on just fans thats nuts
guess you could say you're not a big fan
XD good one
i mean i spent a lil over 200 but not 600 XD
15 fans for $40 a pop? oof
what
What's the absolute worst that can go wrong with a cheap PSU? I've got a pretty decent build going on so far that's only cost me $140 but all I need now is a PSU and a case.
it can kill the motherboard and everything connected if it does a power spike rather than trip its internal breaker
Technically it could start a fire
Oh. That's.. that's nice.
So, just how budget can I get if I only need about 300 Watts?
Do they not deliver as much as they say they do?
to maximize lifespan and efficiency you want to have your system's max load to be 50 to 80% maximum rated wattage
Ah, that makes sense. I don't wanna prematurely kill the PSU. Still, I can't imagine an i3-7100, a GTX 1060, and 1 SSD and HDD using much power at all. But I don't have much of a way to gauge it because I'm frankensteining it out of a Dell T7500 for power so.. way overkill
ok, well the 7100 is a 2/4 and the 1060 is 120w tdp
You could use an oem psu as long as you have the 6 pin for gpu, but I recommend that as a last option. 450w 80+ or better is the way to go so your PC doesn't go from a budget one to a dead one.
I have a problem, can anybody help me ?
Lmao
what is the problem pugaman
None, I fixed it already
So I have a prebuilt Cyberpower PC and I forgot the password, but I have a Linux CD that can override it to reset the password. So in the Bios how do I set the boot device to the CD because it keeps doing back to the login screen without reading the CD first. The 1st Boot device it the DVD/CD Rom but it still won't read the CD?...Any thoughts?...🤔
@sacred obsidian please and thank you?
@hearty fern good one ✋
you either use the bootmenu, or set boot device priority in bios
you may need to enable legacy boot as well
it depends on the mobo/bios but there might be another place where you need to set the CD to be priority in boot
That is your boot priority
Primary your CD/DVD drive and secondary your actual drive
@little osprey how old is that system cause the connections for that is IDE
Yeah it's pretty old, it still has PS2 HAHAHA
There is a lot of modern boards that has PS/2
yeah
Wait so where do I from here because its Primary Boot Device is the DVD/ CD Rom but still not reading the Linux CD
?
🤔
When you start up your system look at what commands would show cause there would normally be 2
1 for the bios and 2 to select where to boot
OMG LOOK!
I'm looking
what am I holding
For what
for why?
ok congrats
Here it is
where?
@little osprey what is that
Linux boot
thank you for taking over ecks im helping someone in private chat lol
What are you gonna use linux for @little osprey
I'm resetting the Windows password with the Linux CD
What everyone else uses it for
I forgot how to do this guys hahaha
i didnt even know that was possible tbh lol
@latent bronze dude your really condescending. Lol not a good mix for a mod
nah ecks is alright
Hes condescending
@little osprey have you considered that the meaning you see in the words is just in your head?
@foggy hazel lol its blantly condescending
no, it really isnt.
How so
This is not a school playground, so people can actually have opinions.
that is your take on it.
Thankfully, that is also just your opinion.
And what your saying is your opinion
correct.
never claimed it was anything else
the one that so far has tried to state how someone else should behave. is you.
But you should act with respect and kindness
How a person acts reflects on them, and them alone.
What's a good cooler for the 3900X?
Anything really
Even stock cooler will work
Who's the lurker that
ed that
@little osprey depends on the goal for the system? absolute silence? d12/d15
Depends on how well and silent and liquid or not
@little osprey
Noctuas nhd15 for air and any 280mm aio
How much does silence impact performance
I think evga has their 280 for 90$ rn
Not much
Ok then I would go for silence
I'm getting a 2080ti gaming x trio
Aios are more quiet
I would go for a 360mm personally
AIO's generally have pump noise
Pumps make noise.
indeed
this is fact
Sure but not much
not opinion.
Well if you have a front mounted 360mm you can hear the pump
so do hearts
Or else non would sell
And if you have a large and loud gpu
You wont hear it unless you have your head against the block
go and read any comparison test/review of AIO's and air coolers
that depends entirely on the noise-floor of your office/room @little osprey
My floor is loud bc dorm
Me thinks @foggy hazel is an air cooler lover lol
elephant ppl
To each their own
@little osprey re: silence impact performance: Not at all
How about something like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H25DZ3M/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_MwFsEb0Y7EPA3
oof
Even though it's for a threadripper
Wait did i read this right did he say any 280mm AIO?
newegg sale
Ne-wegg
@little osprey will not fit on the socket generally
Ah
of the 3900 that is
280mm wow that's quiet huh?
@little osprey if that is how you read things, so be it.
I would stay toward corsair or nzxt for aios
They have the longest warranties
Lol @foggy hazel you read too much into it
the "fun" thing about an AIO is that IF the pump goes, you are VERY much out of luck
It was a joke
I would prefer an aio because I like to lightly OC
And pumps hardly fail
Just like if a fan dies
On an aircooler
@little osprey let the cpu do its own thing. because the "headroom" you have, is barely there
i have a crate of broken AIO's from the last quarter at work. and i have .. 7 broken fans from the last year
guess what is broken on all the AIO's?
Lol there can only be one thing broken @foggy hazel
The pump
Unless someone man handles the tubes
tubes can "slip" in the seals too.
True
because that is the "variance" you have with AIO's
only one slipping here is you brochacho
How about a h100i platinum
As long as you go with a reputable brand you'll be fine
if you want to pay for it? go for it.
H100i is nice
IF you want the same or better performance go for a nh-d15
or better
Noctua is nice but depends on the case
@little osprey please, 2+2 = 4, just because you stamp your feet does not make it magically equal 5
facts over fiction @little osprey
no swearing
as i said earlier, this isnt a playground, we are talking about hardware.
Yeah
i stick to the hardware, so far, i have not seen anything from you that counters?
I'm going to ask my mentor on this issue the setup is crazy but I appreciate the help guys thanks! 😎👍
then what was the noise you made earlier then?
as i said a while ago, read the words :)
Didn't you say before as well 280mm so why the 360mm instead?
@stoic island it is fairly basic physics and material understanding. Have a big enough lump of metal, you can remove heat worth X amount of water
scale the water up high enough? congrats, you just beat the static sized lump of metal
was it you i talked with about the zalman cooler? if so, that also applies there :)
I should've checked how large the cooler is xD
yea it was me
I thought h150i vs h100i was just better pump or smth
but its like 240mm vs 360mm
the 300 extra gram is what helps the zalman beat the d15
but as i said back then, i am looking forward, from a technical POV on things changing
it was my mistake
welcome to silly product names :)
well, it is what it is
aye :)
this might answer it
hahahaha
compared to the d15 fan at like 1500rpm full load
Must sound nice
well, you will know if the fans are running at least
aye aye

this is an older page tho
zalman prob beats d15 in most everything sadly
tho
Air cooler master race
jkjkjk
but air cooler gang
reliability over anything is my main point with my stance @stoic island
unless it 100% needs water, like come cpu/gpu compute clusters do
then i really don't see the point for consumers to "need" it
"want" it? sure, go ahead.
just dont complain that your budget is tight at the same time :)
Well, if they want to fit in an AIO in a 2000$ build, sure that works.
but if they want one in a 700$ build? bad idea
well, if they actually want it (in the 700 build) then i am perfectly fine with having a serious look at it
but when we get to silly stuff like, 1 stick of ram and a mech hdd because otherwise there is no money for the AIO? no.
just no.
well, I would rather steer them away from AIO at 700$ range xD
like at that range its good enough for stock cooler (for amd)
want the need
you already did.
Well i am happy with my 212 Evo RGB
i still think that one is overrated, but again, i am also looking at things from a slightly different perspective
I paid 27$ Canadian so
aye aye, there is no doubt it can be a decent budget option. but .. yeah :)
Also max temps when gaming i get is 47c
as long as a chip is not throttling, i honestly dont care
silence for me, is a premium :)
Or we can just all buy a $800 custom loop
i said silence, not pump gurgling
Gurgle gurgle
@hearty fern considering what i do for a living. I would be fired if i didnt.
if that is how you read it? that is entirely on you :)
seeing as how specific my statement was, that might not be a total naturalization of your job, but your answer implies it is indeed part of it.
Unless you're building PCs for people with tinnitus that want overclocks, seems weird that you'd be required to return any gpu that had coil whine when tuned/OCd over their rated speeds.
if
if he did OC the GPU for a customer, and it had coil whine, he would return them
I'm reading this as a hypothetical
you seem to be hitting the limits of what you can imagine that i do. Fascinating.
Well, I'm making a generalization, for better or worse.
Naed I have a question
@lunar bane ask away
Is it trustworthy to get products from newegg by third party sellers? Im looking at Beach Audio and theres mixed review that they ship faulty or good
Im getting nzxt aer 2 rgb fans 3 pack 120mm
Sadly i cannot answer that, because i have never shopped at newegg myself. I am not stateside or anywhere where newegg is actually competitive :)
Oh
for questions like that, i would normally refer you to one of the US based people :)
Alright
sorry mate :)
Its fine
Omg no wegg?
Well anyways Naed, could you tell us if that is within your work or is it not? If you cannot answer that question or don't feel comfortable answering the question, it's okay.
@lunar bane what you can try and do, and maybe have someone weigh in with some experience on it. Is post in #old-cooling with the actual link to the sellers page?
What are you doing in wegg discord if you don’t shop wegg?!?
yes
I joined to have a chat with some people, on behalf of a friend a good while back. And then decided that the community seemed like a decent enough place. And i have stuck around
@stoic island it is technically a very very small part of a small part of what i do
Now you are forced to shop wegg
Ah, I understand.
also, considering i have the knowledge, i dont see a problem in sharing what i know.
Do you have knowledge?
What is knowledge?
@foggy hazel ill try just gonna ask customer service on newegg first
seems subjective
@lunar bane monday (for you) when newegg opens, there should be a staff member that joins, the neweggservice or something like that, you can message that person :)
(here on discord that is)
Ah didnt knew that
yes
Well im talking to support rn and they seem they might have the answer
sweet :) could you relay it either in pm or here? i would be interested to know what they say @lunar bane
Ill see
I wonder if returns would go through Newegg or 3rd party for a third party seller
Because that could be an important point
Naed they said they couldnt help on that and would recommend i contact the third party seller @foggy hazel
based on that, it seems they have about the same relationship that amazon has with theirs
have a look at your credit card, and what kind of insurance it has. Over here that can sometimes help with stuff like that
I just dont really still know
Basically, it's risky, if you could avoid it, you should.
Unless you have some kind of protection like returns
do your due diligence Rex
Restock fee %15
Unbeatable sales on amazon cost $7 more but has even better positive reviews than besch audio
Hm need to dive deeper
if you are looking at review scores, remember to read the actual reviews
a fair number(close to all) of all reviews, really dont know left from right or hot from cold.
i have had, the "pleasure" of having a workplace rated very low because the customer read the sign for our hours wrong
as in, customer shows up 2 hours AFTER we closed
Oof
Yeah im reading the reviews rn
And they are faulty....
Getting the twin pack and one pack separate is better i guess sold from amazon
Cost $10 more but safer route and cheaper than some third sellers
Alright thanks
yikes bro
Yo im spending 800 pounds on a gaming pc any ideas?
Building or prebuilt ?
Im going to customise a prebuilt
looking for Airpods for daughter, I dont know much about them. first generation or second generation and new or refubished??? Can anyone give me some advice?
@noble flower do you already have the prebuilt
what is the diference in ram if mb support list says HX426C16FB2/8 instead of HX426C16FB3/8 dose it make a lot of diff for ram support?
No
What ram and what mobo @strange thorn
B450M S2H (rev. 1.0) and kingston hyperx ddr4 2666 cl16 4GB bying 2 sticks
its for amd ryzen 3200g
maybe even 12 so 2 go for vram
mb its 3200
serbia
every kit has fb3 instead of fb2 as in mobo supp list
@strange thorn what site do u use to buy ram
Laptopovi, tableti, televizori, mobilni telefoni, monitori, igrice, konzole, računari, dronovi, bela tehnika, kamere ➤Sigurna kupovina ➤Brza isporuka
those 3 are either free shipping and cheapest
plus i have a monitor that i would like to reuse so mobo has to stick only vga
its old but great
geil evo forza 3200 cl16 100
I cant read but I'll try to look for smth
there is 8g hyperx cl15 3000mhz for 51usd
is there amazon?
nah
I'm not finding any good deals
to much for shiping
its like looking through vietnamese sites all over again
there isnt many deals
mobile
I'm just looking through with google translate
and find an option to translate
they dont give deals here
not good at all
everything is slaped with shipping price pretty much
ur 120 usd b450 arous elite here is 140
but anyways
Look for 3200mhz cl16 ram
Geil is just iffy
there are good 3000 cl15 1k cheaper
what cpu you using again?
3200g
only good one with cooler
its 110
Yea... You'll prob want 3200mhz ram for that
In store can often be cheaper
21
210
and its not like its tons better
2600 is 16k
or 160
for u
or 2700 non x is 210
was thinking 3000g
athlon
but it requires cooler
so for 50 for coler its same as r3 3200g with a in box
ohhhh
or just leave it for my parrents
I thought you were going with a APU only build
if you're gonna upgrade to a gpu, that doesn't really matter
and its 768p pannel
oof
yeah well
I didn't even know that existed
I only really see like 600p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 3440p, and the ultrawide versions
ah
i could just stick a cheep 580 in it
there was a good deal on ali
but you wait 30 40 days
for shipinh
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
just slightly concerned about it being used
Smarter Shopping, Better Living! Aliexpress.com
yeah
but you gotta get it somehow
oh shoot
and plus gpu comes with new pannel
you wont have free returns
Ali express
@median sail why do you need so much fans
Yo im spending 800 pounds on a gaming pc any ideas?
If there is a sign that it is still running give it a little longer. If it is frozen you probably have to restart it
Btw are you using a HDD or a SSD?
Hi
Kinda want to build a new computer but not sure what to do as far as parts. Its been almost 20 years since ive done it
How do u get help here lol
Video kid they will help you out soon
It’s still early
And how much is a decent gaming pc I can build
Ok hopefully they ping me lol
@mossy pine this isn't a prime time to find help, at night US time is a good time. But I can try to help
Ok anything will help lol
I just know alot has changed since i was into it and i havent kept up on the changing technology. My computer now is from 2004
Are you looking for parts to build or advice on building it
Think you might need to ping them
@mossy pine ping ping
Advice on what parts to get lol
That is what i have now but way too old
Ok cant post pics
You can say what you have instead
Not sure what i need. I want something fast but kinda inexpensive. I don't think i need a gaming laptop but dont want it to lag when im doing stuff. Maybe 400-500?
Compaq Presario Media Center SR2013WM - tower - Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4 GHz - 512 MB - 160 GB |
Only i think mine is3.2ghz
If you're planning on spending 500$ on new parts you would mainly be using a APU system with a 2400G/3400G
Or search around for decent used parts like Demonmit1
I’m not very good with low budgets
I dont know whatb apu is lol
APU is a CPU and GPU in one
APUs are good for low budget
Like it is able to do a lot of things including gaming but don't expect to play on high settings unless you're playing like Overwatch or League of Legends
Ok the only games ive played on pc is baldur's gate and vampire the masquerade and brave frontier
No newer titles?
No. Never really got into the gun games like cod or anything
ok well newer games doesn't always have to be a shooter
I know just not much time to play around lately
@mossy pine this would be the ideal system https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rH8MMc
How much is a decent pc
decent is the link i just posted
if you want good then replace the APU for a 3600 and add in something like a 1660 Super
Is that a liquid cooler or is it not needed
That is a air cooler on it and you wont need a AIO
even with using PBO2 on you would be fine
I dont know thesw abbreviations
The 3400g comes with a stock cooler, on a budget build it seems like you could either save the $20 or put it towards something like more storage
PBO2 is sort of like a self overclocking
@rich void if he would plan on overclocking the APU a better cooler would be needed
Agreed
remember the heat is not only from the CPU side of things but also the GPU
I dont know how to overclock lol
You could always start out on the stock cooler and get a better one if needed
It is not that complicated especially with all the things there is now
Also better to get the better one now since it is in his budget
@mossy pine Pretty much that build and the games you play you would be able to see it at maxed settings and getting like 100 to 200 frames
@sullen spoke you have so much cleaning to do there
that front better be clean by the time i get back young man lol
Oh this is going to be a while
Well
You could make it much easier and like
yeet the aftermarket cooler out of there
get some 3600mhz ram
it is a 3400G wouldn't really need 3600MHz memory
Depending on what you plan on playing what i mentioned would be the ideal type
It doesn't need it, but I'm assuming they just want to speed up tasks like idk chrome
So pretty much the same part list i did there but replace the 3400G with like a 2700 or 3600 and put in a 1660 Super or a 2060
I'd change out some stuff for a higher budget
You would but would it really be needed
Also, this is what I would do for the 500$ build
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XXhgrV
Well, if they wanted a 3900x
or something
you gotta put on a much better cpu cooler
For what he mentioned on playing the nvme would be pointless
he's not focusing on gaming tho
he wants it for everyday tasks
and speed it all up
either use a different CPU cooler, or you can just use stock cooler
you should prob get 3600mhz ram for a 3700x
@wispy matrix 1660 Super
actually wait
@wispy matrix you only really want it to play games right
bc 3700x seems overkill unless you video edit or something
Also from the OP and my build https://i.gyazo.com/fd76e789744bfef87e8cb5355916ea41.png
I want to do multitasking like games designing and some online stuff
Now why would someone want a nvme for that Mr1111
also from OP
I'm assuming they want to speed up everyday tasks
because NVME drive plus 12gb more storage for 7$ more is worth it imo
I just want something a lil fsdter than whatbi currently have
@mossy pine This build you would have no problems at all https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XXhgrV
also nvme drives are neater with less cables but thats a preference
Lot of modern cases now the SSD is hidden in the back so you don't even notice the cable
I mean like neater to build
I dont like working with cables
possibly bc the sleeving on my cables from my psu make them pretty thicc
It is still very neat
I should stop using neat
I also forgot mentioning World of Warcraft as my games that I play
only after you
easier would be more like my intention for that sentence
Oh yea
my cable management is really basic and bad
I just drag them and stuff as much into the back as possible
so I cant say much
Um you really should see when Demonmit builds a system cause he has build in that case which you don't even see the cables
Also case is black the board and pretty much black and the sata cable is black i am pretty sure you would have a hard time noticing it at first glance
Yeah I need help with cable management my case has literally no clearance on the top of the mobo
I stuff them on the side
I forgot got to take out the cpu cooler
I also couldn't cable manage the cpu fan cables
I think i want a solid state drive instead of the old drives ive heard there much faster
If you look near the bottom I just stuff them into the back
@mossy pine there is a SSD in the build
M.2 nvme SSDs are actually a fair bit faster than larger SATA SSDs
Ok. Can u put more than one?
Yea ecks but there isn't many other places to put it
@mossy pine how much storage do you need?
Because 512gb on a nvme ssd seems like good enough
@mossy pine you can still use a hard drive in your system just the SSD would be the primary and the hard drive would be the secondary
Id like atleast 2tb ive got 5 drives to backup cauze 2 are failing and thats almost 360gb
I store alot of music and movies lol
Do you have a working 2TB drive now?
I also got a external usb 1tb thats full
No there all scattered on different drives lol
That's why I want one big one to bring it all together inThe one place
I don't trust the two hard drives I have now with a lot of the important stuff cuz I've had issues with them not booting up and not powering on sometimes.
Well for now with what is on that list you would be fine until you have money to get yourself a new 2TB hard drive for a secondary
Ok what about memory is that the max i can do on that board
@wispy matrix for a light show
@mossy pine you don't need more memory than 16gb, but max on the board should be like 128gb
Thought it said 32gb
in my list there is 16gb
@latent bronze
?
Do you actually run a Pentium 3?
Been a while since I saw someone run a Pentium 3
So you have another computer then?
@latent bronze what are those specs
my main system is a R5 2600 16gb memory and a 1660
Great value parts
2600 has been the go to for a while
I remember paying 330$ for a quad core in 2017
Um
What CPU
330$ for a quad core?
7700k
No
Top tier
Anyhow now I run with 3700x
I like it except monitoring on amd cpus sucks ass
?
I haven't had any issues with it
Because cores go to sleep and such
Nah I have pbo disabled
Just xfr
I might end up doing an all core oc
Something like 4.2
1.375 iirc
I usually leave it on PBO, when I use my all core oc, it's for benchmark scores
2070 non S
I can't break 10k overall on time spy and it's really annoying
2080 ti
Nice
I get over 10k
I take that back
But my GPU score is like 9700
I think I got around 12k
Time spy normal, not time spy extreme
Oh
One of them is 4k, one of them is 1440p iirc
Yeah extreme is 4k
Have you done port royal? It's not really a good score to compare but it's fun to watch lol
The benchmark
I havent yet
It's kinda fun watching the reflections knowing it's real time raytracing
Sadly I don't have any game I play often that supports rtx
Quake 2 rtx looked really neat tho
You can get the free quake 2
Actually no other game than quake 2 rtx and Minecraft if that counts
I'm not too into cyberpunk sooo
I haven't even tried Minecraft rtx
Metro
Got Wolfenstein for free with my GPU but never tried it
I don't have control :p
I think that came with 2080s and 2080tis
Okay I'm still stuck on this, my 3 fans have a 4-pin 12VRGB connector, but my motherboard has a 5-pin 12VRGBW connector. The motherboard manual says you should be able to get a 4-pin into a 5-pin but it's not working. Can anyone help?
