#building-and-recc-chat

you mean, that specific model?
in general
as in, the 2060 variant?
i mean just this card in general
because it is "enough"
ok
we going for efficiency for the PSU?
efficiency and performance
not really Hei, i just know that one to be darn near silent
seeing as the actually passive ones are not available over in the states atm
i would like the entire machine to pull less power than my current i7-6700
whats that mean
IF you dont fiddle with things and "force" it to run at settings that only make you feel good, but dont actually matter.
it will consumer less power
because you will have a GUI for the mainboard that will have a LOT of "oh shiny" buttons on it
wait, but stock 3900x on load is like 140w, 6700 is 90w or less
just leave them all alone basically
the rest of the system counts too @cursive wharf
mech drives etc
yeah, wont have mech drives
none of that sillyness in this one
dont need
they are a waste of space :)
just one last thing to check with @cursive wharf
ye?
how is the Pilot vs the Sabrent?
you are the one that selected the pilot after all :)
I never really 100% looked at benchmarks, but I'd assume random is close to the same despite the huge seq differences
But everything in the Rocket is better, on paper at least
aye
question of firmware etc
and pilot is tlc, so not worried on that front
and at that size, the prize is heavily in favour of the pilot
I mean quite a large budget. Might as well Rocket
true enough
and my price comment was wrong, i mistook the rocket 4 for the regular
and that one is "silly" expensive vs the pilot
rocket (regular) it is
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mq2vdm <- i believe that is the final list @gray totem
RAM is CL18 btw
sidenote: the mainboard has been verified to fit the NH-D15
question! is the 1600AF good to go with if i don't plan on messing with my machine for a few years?
I assume no OC? That x570 does have a not so great VRM setup
it looks awesome
something to note down, connect your speakers on the backplate, NOT the front ports on the case :)
ok will do, but why
quality of signal
@sick cove yeah. But 1600AF prices seem to be random due to high demand. So if getting for the $110+ range you might as well get a 2600
ok
i see. can it run vr tho?
yes
seems good to me
yes @gray totem
raaaad. thank you for the tech support
no problem
you are very welcome :)
do throw a message when you get it up and running :)
and do remember, if you have questions, there are no stupid questions, only silly answers :)
you are the one being patient and taking the time to ask and think
that is rare these days
yeah it really is
indeed
i run multiple forums, large forums, so i know what its like
:)
is this the same mobo
the system buidler was having me get it at walmart
i believe it is
it is
same price on amazon too
amazon seems to report it as out of stock "at this moment in time"
maybe thats why
i am not in the US :)
got a
ya
so this is a dumb question...what do i do about win10? can i transfer the license from my current computer?
you got a retail license?
hmm no i dont
i dont think its tied to a microsoft account currently
i use local login
whats my best option u think
cheapest option
you can with any win10 version afaik. make an account and login, then goto activation and you should have an option to tie it to your account
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-link-your-windows-10-product-key-microsoft-account <- here you go @gray totem
ok cool, then i can transfer it?
aye
np :)
PSU
d'oh!
:)
oh?
hmm, not prime its showing
np
also, what is wrong with that ram price?
that is bonkers high
yeah, gonna check newegg
ouch!!
links for either directly from corsair or newegg
thanks for catching that, man
np
actually not avail at newegg
avail here though https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Memory/VENGEANCE-LPX/p/CMK64GX4M2D3600C18
VENGEANCE LPX memory is designed for high-performance overclocking. The heatspreader is made of pure aluminum for faster heat dissipation, and the eight-layer PCB helps manage heat and provides superior overclocking headroom.
corsair it is then
lol yup
only other price diff is a +20 usd on the GPU
but that is very minor, so that doesnt matter
Any builds for 500$ Max
(CAD)
you are very much excused, you have "ooooh! shiny! glasses on @gray totem
what else are you getting there?
well i could get the psu there too i guess, but good call
but if it saves me $40
🙂
idk, not worth it u think?
you are the one that knows if it makes it easier for you (convenience wise) not to
https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-rtx-2060-super-08g-p4-3162-kr/p/N82E16814487459?Item=N82E16814487459
@gray totem this is it, right @foggy hazel ?
XC Gaming
aye, that is the right one
does not look like it
the first thing we started with, and the last thing we end with :)
airflow is kinda eh on it tho
ahh ok
i cannot really offer any replacements, because it is entirely a question of what you want
im looking on coolermaster now
i dont know much about rgb cases, so .. yeah :)
thats the model with the acryllic sidepanel
instead of the tempered glass of the other variant
right
the ARGB i would expect would be to do with how much control you have over the light show
that is entirely your call :)
yeah this other one looks good
when you decide you want a more "normal" case, you are more than welcome to ask :D
nothing to be sorry about :)
it is your build :)
believe it or not, i have done pink builds for customers
double psu
:)
honey
prices etc look right
i use honey lmao
tis
ready to order these carts, right?
yes @gray totem
:)
#ordered
now you get to run on the walls while waiting :)
aye
even after all these years, when i am doing my own builds, i am just like that :)
first time for everything :)
:)
👍
thats an expensive light
lol yup
thanks again, i will come back when all the parts come and i put her together
dont worry, you are gong to be pleasantly surprised
yeah i think so
i have some thermal paste too from years ago
assembly outside the case
really?
thermal paste is included with the D15
lol
awesome
so put everything together outside of the box?
and put it all in the case last?
got ya
after 25+ years, i still do that
aye, just grab the media tool on ms' site
np :)
hopefully you'll be here when i'm ready to build
so i can come back 🙂
and talk t ou
or just send me a pm, this machine is generally on 24/7
sweet thanks
again, you are very welcome :)
any time :)
now go and run on the walls
haha yup
there are grooves to be made
have fun :)
you too 🙂
So I’m thinking about getting an nh-d15 but I don’t want it to cover up my rgb ram. Do y’all think it will affect performance if I mount the end fan to the left vs to the right
This
Vs this
note not my builds just some pics I found online
nah, just make sure they blowing the right way
Aight thx
say you have a 240 liquid cooler and your case can hold 3 140mm fans can i mount a third fan under the aio?
oh
but yeah with a 240 aio i could mount a 120 fan under it?
so your case has room for 3 120mm fans where you want to mount the rad?
yeah
if i were you, i would leave the 3 included fans in the front, and mount the 240mm at the top of the case
exhaust out the top
ok i was suggested to do it in the front for better temps on cpu
not really
all it does is increase your gpu temps
because you cool your gpu with the warm air from the cpu
plus, heat rises, and pumps perform better when they are at the bottom of the loop
ok
by how much would temps on gpu be roughly
like 5-6
oh ok
still not alot
i mean the gpu imma get has 3 fans on it
but from an airflow standpoint, put the rad at the top
so itll be lower temp to begin with
why?
it allows the case to maintain positive air pressure much easier
and, it means all the air coming from the front of the case will mostly go through the rad
as opposed to just out the back
oh ok
hmmm, i may need to do more research
apparently, the case doesnt "officially support" top rad mounting
my friend has the same case and it just depends if it fits is all iirc
that "detail" is quite important :) [edit: is]
tbh. if it can fit the same size fans, its just a question of thickness and the clearance of the edges
side clearances are fine
yeah
but thickness im not sure
i think that was the issue with the cooler he got in his was clearance wasnt there for his
it will clear the motherboard fine, but the first obstruction it could hit are the ram sticks
but idk which on ehe got
aight, imma be honest, if your gonna go for an AIO for looks, you might as well get a nicer looking case as well
if you dont wanna pay a ton for looks, just get a nice air cooler
and have it exhaust right out the back
ok it would prob mainly be for looks as aio provides about same temps as air cooler i feel at least i dont have any experience my self
yeahh. its not worth the risk trying to mount a 240mm aio in the case, but you could just remove the lower fan, but then it just looks unbalanced from the front
if you want, i would suggest that over the 240
but what cpu are you getting that would need 360mm of rad space for cooling?
lol the cpu def wouldnt need it imma get a ryzen 5 3600
yeahh, a nice looking air cooler should be fine
just toss it in here
Aight but it's a slab

well, having the better GPU will give you better game performance in general
@viral ore a moment please?
and having the extra 2 cores will help with a few cpu bound games
but the IPC of the 3600 might not be enough when compared to the 2700 to make it better enough
of course, a few other things still need to be tweaked
Such as
the PSU you listed is quite generic
In both?
What should I try to tweak?
well
list you budget and use case, and people can create a part list
thats a good outline, but you havent really listed any actual components
the only components you have listed are the case, mobo, and cpu
What other components are u referring to?
the case, motherboard, and cpu
.>
i thought this was a component list you put together
I don't have enough confidence in myself to try building something
Reason: Bad word usage
Then have nothing
and you would have been told this if you had said yes earlier @viral ore
meh
Which one overall?
What's a good choice then?
more importantly, which company is building them?
Australian companies
and at what cost?
wdym
what are the prices on both machines?
I listed them above
yes, i know they will be in AUD
aye, my mistake, sorry about that @placid grail
1st = 1,248 AUD 2nd = 1,345 AUD or change the 1660S to and 2060 RTX makin it 1517 aud
the problem/challenge with those lists is that the devil can be in the details
and there is a distinct lack of details up there
so listen, you putting it together isn't super difficult, and i guarantee you will end up with a better, longer lasting pc
emphasis on longer lasting
If that would be the case
Then do you have a somewhat budget gaming pc list of components?
we can make one
rn?
just depends on where you want to buy components from
So from an aussie website
I don't have one set in stone
and do you need keyboard, mouse, and monitor?
I can show u the peripherals i found
Oh the shipping
Probs wanna find a better monitor
The 2 australian ones
Don't have shipping
but the monitor got $150 aud shipping
Just add .au to the .com of the website
idk if you could milk the system with amazon prime
free two day shipping
but that probably wouldnt apply to a majority of items
oof.
With 144hz
i mean, any monitor will look the same, regardless of the aspect ratio a game renders in
no monitors are better than others for mismatching aspect ratio
but the one you linked wasnt bad
hm
do you happen to have amazon prime?
Nope
would suggest getting a prime trial before ordering tho
o ye
@placid grail https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YwY3gJ <- this is a potential start, with newegg filtered out, because it is acting silly on pcpartpicker
mainboard will have to be looked at, because the usual suspects are not available over there
for me, the price on that build is 1400.99 aud
because no newegg
mwave has it
to make amazon shipping not cost almost 400 AUD, you will have to get a prime free trial, and limit yourself to only prime eligible items.
so if you know of any local options, let us know
Most of the aussie shops are overprices af
and i am just going to make a prediction now (based on the other AU builds i have specced over the years) that is going to be a common theme
@placid grail you cant magic things over to you guys, so you can either wish for rainbows and unicorns or you can pay the local price
D;
shipping out to you is bonkers
if it is any consolation, local prices where i am, are higher
the cost of the aorus board is only 90 usd, so mwave doesnt seem to have terrible prices
they dont.
the prices are not that bad, the real "annoyance" is the availability of specific things
at least they have a good selection of cases
-ish
as long as you dont go itx
(or that was how it was on the last build i did at least)
yes, read the manual, dont rush
plenty. LTT did this one cheesy first person one that is exactly right
Does it come with a manual?
yeah, all the components will come with one
every mainboard and case come with instructions.
;o
which includes how the rest goes in there
because everything is tied to those two "main" components [edit: two]
i see
Do you recommend a different motherboard or the B450m?
Same with the cpu
Do you recommend a different one other than AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor
for a first build, b450 is just fine
it will be running stock, so there are no problems
but, i have butted in on @viral ore 's talk with you, and since i am on my way to work, i will leave you two to it
Aight
k thats fine
so imma put together an mwave part list so you can just order everything locally from the same website
ok
ok
i mean, its sitting next to you, not me
you you?
well, this one has really bad airflow
it comes with 3 fans too
;o
o hehe
xd
it do be quite nice ngl
what have u tried it?
The number
o lmao no
U said it be quite nice
Nice

parts
gpu could be cheaper, just depends on budget
i could find one
ye
the gpu gonna have to be cheaper lmao
what kinda keyboard do you want
do you want one similar to the one you linked b4
also, what do you want the switches to feel like
if you had to describe what you want
Something better than this laptop keyboard
I have no clue on the different keyboards
do you want to feel and hear the key register?
Can you find a cheaper one?
there is one for 70, but its out of stock
Link
sooo
about that gpu
xd
thats the last thing
aight
because its whatever you feel like spending really
also based on the monitor you end up getting as well
ye
theres also this
its mem-chanical tho
so its better than membrane, but kinda noisy
its not too noisy tho
not nearly as nice either
ye
i think you will really like the 99 dollar one
I hope so lol
You could probs find cheaper ram?
nope
fr
the links i sent you, aside from the gpu, are non negotiable
unless u just want something
like a nicer case
oof
I'ma be broke
It all adds up
compared to the total cost of this
lmao
Could I
Create a religion
That said
We don't believe in science or money
Then get everything for free
🤔
lol probs
do you want a curved monitor
aight, this brings the total to 1800
i think thats too much tho
the only things that can go cheaper are the keyboard, mouse, gpu, and cpu
1.5k probs highest i can go
We haven't gotten a mouse yet.
quick comment: consider some of the parts like investments
wdym?
monitor will most likely be around for a build or two
case could easily be around for a build or five
Sassy can explain in detail on that line of thinking
yeah, but i wanna go to bed soon
Should I sell my RX 580 nitro plus used for 125 + 8 shipping
What's the time for u?
What’s the next best Gpu I could upgrade to
late
That’s not super expensive?

tada
lmao
you literally cant go cheaper here without a complete build overhaul
I would still strongly suggest the previous build tho
if you cant, thats totally fine
but direct all further questions to naed, because i sleep
Hello are my components running correctly besides the SSD? https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/24644137
No your ssd is pretty slow @pulsar anchor
Besides that, it all looks fine
ok
Anyone know how unscrew them? The top screws off so I can’t unscrew it
Why did you screw the standoff on top of it
What was I supposed to do?
having the M.2 at direct contact with your motherboard can cause a short which then the board and M.2 would be useless
Ok
I hope you didn't turn on the system with it like that
them things come with manuals
mobos, m.2 drives.. and such
5mins of reading will save you tons of money.
Yeah
@tropic moss how does that cooler cool the cpu
@latent bronze you guys have too much OCD with cleaning chat
Cleaning which chat
Well we like to keep questions in channels such as this one so when they stream showing builds they don't have to keep scrolling to the next picture
Its makes more sense because people in this chat dont ha e contexts to which chat is for which build
People like Box and AMX has mentioned a lot of times before to keep the questions and chatter in this channel
If that makes sense to you
are you seriously going to argue this?
Ok?
Or should
Its just being polite
and you've been here long enough to know
Its like when someone asks if you want to do something for them, when they are telling you
we scrub the channel so its pictures only.
The only text that we would keep is when people are saying what is inside their system
I get it
search function?
are you asking for suggestions?
Yes
What I'm am saying its I like to see the picture and the chat behind the picture without having to dig
I'm not mad or anything
Or trying to be rude
Ok @little osprey, its over just deal with it
Pixie and violet are cheap monitors
Sceptre
Pixio
Also is cheap
disable auto correct then
@lofty swan lot of things need tweaking
mobo, RAM, SSD, PSU, WiFi card (get one from mobo), GPU (get one with better cooling)
Hey guys would a ryzen 5 3600, asus am4 TUF gaming x570-plus wifi mobo, and corsair vengeance rgb pro 16gb 2x8gb ddr4 3600(PC4-28800) c18 be a good match up together?
Change the ram
mobo is pretty eh
3600 ram with C18 timings ain’t good
plus gaming isnt that good. Pro gaming is a good thing, but no wifi
Get one with C16 timings
so, b450 Gigabyte Auros Pro WiFi
Everything needs tweaking?
@lofty swan Here is a optimized list
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fd6Ymg
added CPU cooler for lower noise
changed mobo for quality of life things (M2 ports, ethernet controller, sound chip, USB ports, etc)
RAM is better
SSD is better
GPU has better cooling
PSU is good quality
also
550w can handle a 3700x and 2080ti
Would it be a problem to upgrade to a 650?
or would that Fri everything
a 550w can even handle a 3900x and 2080Ti realistically
also no it wouldnt
you can put a 2100w PSU in there if you wanted
Oo gee
other then being a waste of money, nothing bad will happen
@warped moat does 3200mhz vs 3600mhz make a huge difference?
Oo okay cool
depends on the task
Its 3600mhz c18 but I found a 3200mhz c16, I'm going to be gaming and streaming
It’s a big enough difference that’s it’s worth it imo
got about $1500 canadian to build a new PC
is there a good PC builder website with canadian prices?
Ya go to pcpp and set your location as Canada
thanks 🙂
not necessarily a waste of money to get a psu with more than 550w
main reason is for overclocking or watercool
watercooling generalyl comes with overclocking
if you watercool and don't overclock i don't see the point
@little osprey custom or aio?
both
aio is good for cpu overclock
Lol no
stop saying lol no
The d15 outperforms many 240 and 280mm aios
the d15
Reason: Bad word usage
but the d15 is ugly
the clunkiest cooler out there
and ram clearance
thats my point
its still ugly
Aios are loud also
The pump is
if anything the fans would be louder
and most people with AIOs are using headset
lmao
i have to press my ear against the metal of my case for me to hear it
LMAO
thats incredibly wrong
a 240mm radiator is about 87 dollars
2 ml120 fans
(rgb)
30 each
150
pretty sure that 150 dollars is what you should be paying for an h100i
the main reason for doing AIOs unless you're doing 360mm or larger is because it looks nice
Reason: Bad word usage
stuff like d15 is even when black is still ugly
don't know what i said that the bot deleted but
Ok? Would you rather save 60 or have it look pretty
Only someone dumb would waste that money
and it costs 20$ less than the d15
Uh huh
Only someone dumb would waste that money
pretty sure thats a waste of money
price difference should be 30-50
not 20
and some d15s are actually the same price as the u12s
That everybody needs
Yes the ugly ones
Im talking about the black u12
The non black is 50
Zack says the D15 is ugly but i got to say this is pretty sexy https://www.newegg.com/noctua-nh-d15-chromax-black/p/13C-0005-001H5
But you dont need rgb ram
How is that ugly?
its nearly as wide as the motherboard itself
and you can put it wherever you want
If your build a ITX
you could leave it unscrewed for all you care
It depends on the case
But that doesnt make it ugly
you hurt my brain
ok but calling someone stupid for asking if you are using a ITX cause ITX is a lot smaller as well
Yeah but if doing sff then a 120mm aio is useless
just by how long it is
And read what I said
That is a ITX board in the image
And im saying its ugly because of the color
I am using a micro ATX board right now and no way it would that cooler cover most of my board
It also has better performance is some cases
well duh
So why is aio better?
AIO does give a smaller and cleaning look to be honest
But when trying to save money as well air cooled would be better
btw velociraptor i never said AIOs were better than air cooling
But give no functional boost in performance
all i said was d15 was ugly and that AIOs aren't a waste of money
But they are
So why is aio better?
Thats the thing
i never said it was
AIO's can be a waste of money depending on which one you're going for
you are paying the same amount of price if you were buy all the parts separately if not more
There is a 360mm rad for the price of corsair 240
and does it have maglev rgb fans worth 60 dollars?
Lol corsairs doesnt
yes it does
You think it costs that much to make them?
i have one right now
Its just people that waste their money on it trying to justify it
Lol corsairs doesnt
are. you. stupid.
They cost that much
