ask in #peripherals-and-displays :)
lol keep going to another place lol
aye, because you keep changing what you want to talk about :)
overclock a 3 gen chip is really pointless and gpu is maybe between 5-10% max
only chip worth overclocking a damn is 3950x
okay thanks guys
Can OC the gpu a tad though
On the other hand
I've run into a few games and things that pitch a fit with an overclocked GPU
SO, there's that too
yeah depends on engine
i really wished AMD fix 5700xt stability issues
i been using it for some testing lately god damn drivers worse than ever
so the cpu cooler is good?
Yes
for the cpu
any other tips before I make this setup
like mous mats or something else like light blocks so the rgb triangles
@muted patio or @foggy hazel
well idk if it has good airflow
You can probably get a 2x16GB kit for less
UNless you're just going for all slots filled, no reason for 4 sticks of RAM
Sabrent ROcket 1 TB is about $40 cheaper than the Samsung if you want to save some money also
One other thing is did buy cpu already you can change that out newer gen unless thats all budget can afford too
that extra 120$ can be used on 3700x i belive
if goes only 2x8
sabrent rocket ones or samsung?
o yeah it was strange configuration for sure
What is the Sabrent rockets write endurance
Write endurance is fine
You won't hit it. Write endurance isn't really a thing any more unless you're keeping it for 8-10 years
No i am not asking for this build i need some mine is already hit the write endurance and failed at 600tb on a evo that i use for animation scratch disk
How old is the drive and what was it?
970 evo nvme and it lasted 6 months for 600tb
for animation i need the speed as a scratch disk. i then move it to a hdd in raid for use
Yeah, that kind of write endurance, you need platters.
All I know is that corsair mp510 has 1700tb write endurance... tho the mp510 is wayy to expensive rn
They do have a 5 year TBW warranty though
From what I can find, it's comparable to a 970 EVO
Yeah i already am working with samsung on it to warranty it so thats easy i just need more. for other stations
But honestly if you're hitting 600 TB in 6 months, you need to consider platters.
^
he could be going off samsung magician software too
I render 1tb files as a scene and i have done roughly 600
The other thing is, SLC has the best endurance but you're going to pay for it
If that's what you really need, look into SLC NAND drives
alright or would optane be better
Whoa
360 PetaByte endurance
I would say Samsung Znand or OPtane is where you need to be
18+ Petabytes
Real world useage
still with his budget for drives its better to invest in NAS with optane or samsung znad as drives might get pricy but be best for his workcase
tbh thats cheap
alright guys, ive got a buddy who wants to build a system but i dont have the time to sit and compare parts to make a list up for him. his budget is ~1200 with a bit of wiggle room. He need system, monitor and peripherals. any help?
last year they were like 3k each
sorry to pop in right in the middle of a convo lol
solid thanks
@muted patio you always have links rdy lmao
honestly the value that rig offers is kinda insane when think back from two years ago
Right?
honest i am happy that people can get that perf at reasonable price compared to what they used to cost
Kind of amazing what you can get for 1K now
now if people could just "understand" that
tbh i think alot people just want top tier perf without paying high cost it takes
Yes. In many cases expectations are entirely unreasonable
a lot of people would be happy with having their eyes blasted to kingdom come with rgb lights
true
would be practical on all fronts IF people had put at least a single thought beyond budget into what they want
(mind, that is not exclusive to this place)
lol someone dmed me and says he is an apple employee what a joke
like i had alot friends ask me did i regrets buying i9 9900k in march but for pure gaming machine like it i do 240hz 1080p its still king
thing is, you have had it since march, and you have hopefully enjoyed the time you have played games on it
people have a tendency to forget that time spent "waiting" is also time spent "not playing/doing the things you wanted to do"
People don't understand that rainbow puke is expensive
"its just lights, how can it be so expensive?!!!!"
LOL
its expensive but its COOL and expensive lmao
even outside of that ive been using cheap stuff for a while, if you can game you can game.
i have heard that paraded around at stadium sound/light setups
rgb ram isnt that much more expensive depending on brand
they just do so its add 10-20% more profit on top of it
oloy is cheap
Also, cheap power supplies make me cry
iunno i got a 70$ 850 watt like 7 years ago and its still running strong lol
Actually, 3600 C16 non-RGB ram is sub $100 for 16GB
@muted patio @sacred obsidian don't know if you remember me from christmas day but i got that computer working last week
i don't mind extra cost kinda helps with color theme setups its vendors being greedy is my problem
what was your issue maxxed1gamer? i recognize the user but not the issue lol
everything seemed fine the computer just wouldn't work it was ram seating and a loose power supply cable
pretty good kit than @tight bluff
well glad you got it working man
i think i paided 150 for g,skill neo 2x16gb x2 for 64gb on 3970x rig
@jade grove https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kddvb8
patriot ram is good but ive had a lot of dead patriot ram sticks lol
RGB is a $30-$40 ram premium
granted ive had more patriot ram than any other ram too
tbh i hoping to get my hands on A-die soon to test difference from b-die
Reluctant to recommend that RAM without more tests done. out of the box it seems to be OK but it's long term issues that need more testing. Also, no major players have tested it.......
i don't think their is any brand vendors out with a-die kits too
we talking samsung a-die
yeah its replacing b-die
we proby see g.skill with a-die kits for computex i think you agree @muted patio ?
Nah. Industry is moving to DDR5 soon, both Intel and AMD. I don't think A-die will be an important thing with that coming out.
So is Hynix
i think Samsung said DDR5 is coming online this quarter
DDR4 is proby still has like 2 years left on mainstream kits
DDR5 proby only go into epyc and TR first
O me and @foggy hazel has this conversation before D:
AMD won't go DDR5 without a new socket, so 2021 ish
amd might wait to 2022 when pci gen 5 is out anyway before changing sockets
also, this generation of hardware (on both sides) will be really long in the tooth before it is replaced (is my prediction)
by replaced, i mean that the consumers will keep their hardware for a long time.
because we are pushing up against the boundaries of the sockets
and those products normally stick around for a long time.
very true i think this be first time intel changes sockets in like 5-8 years i forgot
when i mean changing its by going with more pins and not refing it
well, no
remember they have changed the electrical layout before, and kept the physical specs (externally) the same
O
i forgot about that
kinda dumb how intel plans on launching z490 with lga 1200 than next year have 10nm parts with new socket as well
another problem i see with 10gen is be almost impossible to cool
like rumor 10c is going suck as much power 3970x
considering that their share holders would flay them if they didnt.
quite a bit like the reason why we have "oem-only" gpu upgrades for each years "back to school" season
true
tbh i think this intel being like screw power management just force highest single core clocks and market it as gaming cpu like i9 9900k
thats one thing intel is good at is clock speed
there are limits to that
and clock speed will not save them from the impact of heat/power
they don't care about that now all care about being best gaming cpus
tbh thats why they changed tdp from 95 to 125
nah, not really
honestly i don't expect much from 10th gen
just hotter i9 9900k with two more cores
dont know if you have seen this one https://www.anandtech.com/show/13544/why-intel-processors-draw-more-power-than-expected-tdp-turbo
but it is worth your time to read
not really, when worded like you just did :)
yeah i should worded better
intel tdp is a lie
it is "just" a word that "encourages" the reader to assume things
anyway most motherboard vendors on intel cpus like running them outspec too
not really @subtle halo
It's not a lie though. TDP = Thermal Design Power. All manus use the base clock rating for TDP, not the PBO or Boost clock TDP
and before someone gets their pants all twisted about what i said above. TDP as a topic is so filled with assumptions on all fronts. That unless one is very specific with their wording. Things are very very complicated.
1660 Super
PBO is disabled by default unless activated by mobo vendor
Right. Which is why the TDP rating isn't a lie. Enable PBO and you have accepted to exceed it.
as long as people behave like rational beings. There will not be a fight
Once you learn to wade through what's BS and what's not, it'll make sense
However, i am going to get dinner, so have fun :)
@muted patio just so it is 100% clear: TDP is not complicated/hard to understand. It is however quite complicated to talk about in an open forum where you cannot guarantee the level of understanding
You're right, it's not. Once you understand the TDP rating is for base clock only, the rest makes sense
That'll work
Putting my motherboard in my Corsair 680x, I noticed there's a standoff with a knob on top. I looked on my motherboard and found the standoff point under some shielding. Is the standoff in the case essentially a placeholder and won't cause any problems?
Building first pc ever anyone wanna look through my parts list and make sure there is no obviously bad decisions?
For some gaming and some basic YouTube, twitch, web browsing etc too
GeIL ram idk about
Geil ram is decent
Would the dark rock pro 4 be better than the nzxt m22?
@fleet talon you want to make sure there is a standoff under your screw holes and nowhere else
otherwise you could short any part of your PC
maybe have an electrical injury even
so if you have extra standoffs i'd advise to remove them
@dry tinsel which one is worse an electrical injury or shorting your PC? Xd
@dry tinsel which one is worse an electrical injury or shorting your PC? Xd
it depends on how you value your PC and how you value your life i guess
Yeah, I understand that :P I have a hole in my mobo for it but the standoff is one I've never seen before. I'll post a pic to build pics
you can just post it here
Ah, that's just a stud
No screw needed to help with install
Basically that goes in a hole to hold the mobo in place while you install the other screws. Alignment.
Ah ok. Wasn't sure, never seen one before haha
So, another question. I have the h115i pro RGB, and the Corsair 680x, should I leave the included fans in stock position and mount the rad on top? Or would there be a better placement?
having a rad exhaust out the top is technically better, but not by much
its also better for your aio pump
so i would say its worth it
Front intake is slightly better, actually. but Top Mount is def better for pump
It's always flooded
well, front intake is better for cpu temp, but then the rest of your system gets the hot air
so your gpu cools itself with the hot air that went through the rad
How would the air balance be having 3 intake, 3 exhaust? Should it not be much of an issue?
It'll be fine, just make sure the fans are close in CFM
Welcome back I'm hey
If the price is right.
Depends on the price
well it comes from setup wars
so yeah
I saw this build and I liked it cause of dragon ballhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awwrgwoRzfg watch from 6.20

The components are good but you need to price these and determine if that's a good price for you. Personally I would go with a Ryzen cpu. That looks like a 2080ti in that system. ๐คค
Okay what about it?
cool right
Personally I wouldn't copy someone else's build just make your build your own.
From that list it seems alright but i would actually wait first cause maybe the 10th gen i3 might be a lot better than the 7th gen i7
i3 10300 is supposed to be 4 cores 8 threads base clock 3.7GHz turbo to 4.2GHz
Big brain I agree with that.
unlocked version would be a little higher of course
Yeah I get that I should'nt copy someone his setup
but what should I just get for atleast 200 fps on 1440
you can copy someone's setup if you don't want to wait
for frames it depends on the game cause if you are playing like CS GO you can get those 200 fps at 1440p with no problem
2080ti 9900k
I will play that fortnite, overwatch, gta and call of duty and lots of homework
I get about 180 on high settings with epic draw distance
GTA V and CoD you would get over 100 fps no problem
Fortnite and Overwatch you might get close to like 180 to 200
If you drop to pro settings you'll get over 200 no problem.
Depending on the CPU and GPU tho. Results will vary depending on hardware.
Overwatch 2 i know for sure with the i7 and 1080 would be around 140 fps
so what should I get go to pcpartpicker and make a full list for me pls
Id wait first for the new CPU from Intel and see how things looks in the actual performance
when is that
maybe in a week maybe in a month or maybe in a couple of months
lot of people knows it is this year and within the start
https://pcpartpicker.com/b/WWWD4D
@sharp perch this is my build. Feel free to have a look and ask any questions.
and if the i3 lets say does like 10% to 15% more in actual performance i would go for that
@woven horizon how much fps do you have
@woven horizon idk if I'd recommend that. Lots of money wasted tbh, sorry to say
About 180 average on high settings. I'm not recommending it is just what I have.
@sharp perch what's your budget?
So probs a 9900k and 2080Ti
Makes sense. Go for a 3600x or so.
Id suggest on waiting still than just grabbing a 9900K
Bless the 2080ti ๐คค
30 series cards I expect in April or June don't get the 2080ti rn you'll be so pissed at yourself.
Who knows maybe the i7 10700k when it comes out could perform the same as the 9900K for less
Then you can say to wait till November for AMD CPUs, then wait for whatever else there is to release
The waiting game is kinda eh to play
I felt bad buying the 2700x because right after 3rd gen got a price drop.
Well if Intel is saying they plan on releasing it soon it wouldn't be that much of a waiting game
Well so far it has been recommended to wait for Intel and Nvidia, which is like half a year total now. Once getting to that point it's just "maybe wait another quarter"
If this was a year ago i would tell him to get the 9900K and a 2080 Ti but this is now and would rather wait
Who knows 20 series would see a price drop for sure unless 30 series isnt rtx.
oh 30 series will still be RTX
It's just speculation tho.
if they make a GTX series it would most likely be 17 series
Oh please help Nvidia lol introducing the 1770 super plus rtx
Would be like too odd then cause then you would have the 2060 and the 2660
17, 18, 19... Then what?
After a certain period of time they will scrap the GTX series just like what they're doing with the GT series
cause the last GT was the 1030
It took them a long time to scrap GT, GTX will more then likely be staying for quite some time
so anyway il have to wait what I just dont wanna do lol
Well GT is just as old as the GTX series
remember after the 450 they scrapped the GTS series
You can play the waiting game, but after every release people will tell you to wait @sharp perch
10700K might be releasing in April as well
It took them that long to scrap the lowest end of the spectrum. The GTX is like the new GT, so they can still put out $120 cards. I doubt RTX will get anywhere near that price within the next few generations
Who knows if they keep doing teens for the GTX series it could end on 18 or 19
so except the cpu what should I get because maybe in june or may I will get it
At least 16GB of ram. Do not get a HDD only SSDs
I would suggest a HDD for files only
for things like music and movies and homework
With a 3k budget there isn't a point in having one tbf.
But if you're only storing thing like documents it would be good enough even if it is only like a 500gb HDD
Sure maybe like word and Excel sheets. I won't have a hard drive in my computer ever. I'll just keep adding SSDs
@woven horizon 3k with everything else, not just the PC
Mine is 2k with everything.
So like 2.4k maybe for the entire PC
Could easily fit in a 4tb HDD, as a 4tb SSD is quite pricy
can someone make a full pc on the pcmaker website
What price range?
Hei you do it i am lazy right now lol
I have a couple saved
2-3k
im about to take a nap
12 hours a day 6 days a week. I am lazy everyday after work.
I will wait @muted patio
I'm asking you
With peripherals, and probs monitor.
okay
MOnitors I don't know a whole lot about
I know
Operating system, just get a key on Ebay
I can just use a usb drive for like a month than get a key
so download windows on it and wait till I can buy the key
No idea
No. EVGA is second to none in the nVidia market
There is a bit more to airflow then just fans
I cant find the ram
so I need to choose another type @muted patio
and the m.2
and need different graphics card
yeah
Even on newegg
you can't find it
i mean the m.2 drive
can't I get something else
m.2
and is the gigabyte 2080 super also good?
why
So more core is faster? Not more ram?
than cant i just drop 3 fans on it
EVGA is the best for nVidia
Get whatever you want
Multiple people have told you multiple times what to get, yet you insist on something different.
SO, get whatever makes you happy
in other words, make up your mind.
okay I am just my first time building a pc so I had a friend help me but than you guys came
no, you came to us :)
thats what i mean
Like I said, if you want something with three fans then get something with three fans. However, more fans doesn't always equal better cooling. EVGA has the best coolers, best warranty and best RMA process in the industry. If that doesn't matter, get what makes you happy.
sorry my english isn't the best
I know you feel triggered bekora I respect both of your help
I'm not triggered lol
no, we are not triggered
If you want something with three fans, then get something with three fans
and the thing is that I don;t wanna spend my money on something and than expect it to be total garbadge
This is YOUR build, and if that look is more important to you, do it
it is "just" that this topic is at the best of times ... quite complex.. because it is almost entirely a question of "what do you(the customer) want"
We cannot tell you what looks best to you
our personal tastes dont touch on it, at least not for Bekora (to the best of my knowledge) and myself
I never quibble over looks
Quibbling over subjective topics is useless lol
If EVGA isn't available there, get something else.
yes I get that ofcourse you have a taste and I do we all know that it is my build and my responsibility to make it happen in another way
EVGA has a three fan card but it's expensive
It's another $50 over the two fan model
Last I checked we were going 9900k
$1,000 vs $700
I didnt say 9900k that is what someone else came up with
9900k vs 3700x, big price difference for small perf boost as well. Tho idk if that went through
I mean, if you aren't gaming at 4K, which the budget won't allow dual 4K monitors, it's honestly kind of wasted money
The build I had propsed was a 3900x
Ah, well nvm then
Lemme find it again
I don't know if anything has been changed though
I left case and monitors to the OP
Case is subjective, displays I don't know much about
but is it enough for everything
Depends on what "everything" is
Get a 3-4 TB platter drive also then
Documents take up very little room
Games take up HUGE room
any other m.2 because new egg doesnt have those
error 404
sorry we cant find this item
the kind that goes zoom
put another way: are you asking because you legit want to learn or are you asking because you think you have to ask?
okay thanks
okay any other ssds or hdds
@muted patio so I have enough storage
or @foggy hazel do you know a good ssd I should take
what you have been suggested/recommended already
Well, that's going to depend on you honestly
for some people 1 TB is enough, for others it's not
It's good for 10-13 games, plus OS and documents
well should I get 2tb ssd samsung?
Samsung is expensive but if you think you need more storage than that go for it
The only people who should get Samsung are people with workstations and need the 970 Pro series. Apart from that Samsung is a waste of money
i agree with you
whats up
I will buy a pc in a few months, moving back to pc gaming from console and i need something that could run 4k60 reliably at preferably the highest settings in the most demanding titles
at what price point
what will this be used for. such as media production, streaming, just gaming
only that
That cpu is great for gaming purposes
Ive been looking online and the 2080ti seems the only route i have
do you need wifi
(ใคโเฑชโ)ใค ... I have ryzen 5 3600 withg a 2060 super from zotac
motherboard is the b450 tomahawk MAX
Is the gen4 upgrade worth it btw?
2080 Ti is the way to go, maaaybe a 2080s, but Iโm not sure if itโll perform how youโll like it to perform
pcie gen4 is nice but not needed unless you have the budget
what is the response time of it
I cant give up 4k for anything in this world
Had no issue on my xbox one x
Input lag is okay too
Tbh even if the one x does 4k natively id much rather play with pc 4k
At max settings
Besides the cpu and gpu im gonna go with 32 gigs of ram 1 tb ssd with 2tb hdd
Gonna have to get a very good psu to drive me that 2080 ti tho
Inb4 nvidia releases 2080ti super
Maybe get a 2080 ti 2080s or titan
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9h3jJb its a rough 353.50 over
Maybe better
Sure
depends on which titan the ones that perform better than a 2080ti are more expensive
If a 2080ti can do 4k60 reliably at high settings im good with that
yeah thats your best bet for best settings. and long term use
meaning staying above the new titles that are to comeout
No need to go above 60 eitger
Its hard to go back to 1080p after using 4k oled
It is
When i invite them to my house they get enlightened
Lol
I mean they take everything back
Thats an advantage in it of itself
The only thing im missing is a good audio system to hook my tv to
But considering im stealing a bank to get a pc
Well..
Its not gonna happen for some time
My room is little so the sound will bounce off my walls like nobody's business
Ill have to work a few months for that pc like a mad man
I do hope its gonna be worth when i get it
yo
i need help
im in the bios
and need the windows free version so i can put in my official key
how many gb do i need on my USB
You mean to install windows off it?
If you use windows 10 media creation toold
yes
Is about 4-5 gigs
ok
If you have a 8gb stick you good to go
and then i go into settings and put in the real key right
When you install it
Or after
I dont think it matters
Its gonna ask you for a product key at the start of the install
Then when it tells you to activate windows
After some time
If im wrong someone pls correct me
that might not be enough
it takes 8 gb
8gb?
Nahhh
Ive been using my 8gb usb stick to make bootable usbs to install windows off for years
ok
if you do use a flash drive tho it'll erase all the content on it
thats fine
how do you tell if it is bootable
is there an exact one you use
@jovial cargo
@jagged ember
When you use the media creation tool from windoes
Windows
I mean MS
It downloads the iso to install the windows
And makes it boootablr
ok sorry a i gotta be quick cause my mom is gonna drive me to walmart to get a USB
As long as you got the space
what brand is yours
Kingston
Just to clarify
You need to install windows again to put in your activation key that you got
Correct?
What
What do you mean by that
Like
Download onto USB
Then once it boots
Then it makes me download it again
But not off the USB
Off the internet or whatever
You got this key for windows you got right?
You dont have w10 home installed?
No
Iโm getting the media thing right
Then you use your key
From the Microsoft website
Yes
Ok
Ok you are good to go once the media thing does its thing
Then you proceed to install w10 home
Then when you get into windows you type in your key and activate it and you are done
I hope you dont have any issues man
Ok so I turn off my pc and then turn it on and tell it to boot from the USB... then It just does itโs thing
No
I built it myself
Itโs been a rocky ride I had to take it into my local computer store to get some help because it wouldnโt boot
Oh nice
If you got more than 4 gigs of ram you gotta install the x64 version
I have 16 at 3200mhz
Should I get EMTECH. Or SANDISK
Havent used either
LEXAR ?
Does not really matter afaik
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/GrayHorror/saved/#view=hz7ht6
Can I get some help building my first pc I need this to be at least 100$ca cheaper and still be decent cause I still need to get a keyboard mouse and monitor
@vagrant radish do not buy windows and itโll be 100 dollars cheaper
Get a cheap key off EBay if the watermark bothers you
Well then you can just get windows for free
Just google it up or search it on YouTube itโs ez pz ๐
Ok ty
Idk in CAD but in USD for around 10-15 usd ?
Im pretty excited to build my first pc I've always been a fan of pc gaming :)
Youโre on a very tight budget I can see
Ye
Well good luck and have fun ๐
Ty again cya
Yw
Loool garbageee
Iโm planning to build next month or so though
Anything by apple is poo
I guess my budget will be around $750 including a monitor
Cool
Itโs poo for gaming, but it still serves me well for other things ๐
Ok well cya for real stranger I'll probably never talk to you again so it was nice :3
No worries, catch you later ๐
amazing
I love it
truly
most beautiful pc out of anyone in this group
its gunna have a small amp so it acts like the one that was in it, but its going to be my sleeper pc.
@vagrant radish So uhh... Just get this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/D9ZjJb
wait was that a chromebook
thats my freands. pretty sure its a chrome book with a old cooler and some old fans
lol but why
@cursive wharf can it run apex, overwatch, or league well?
"well" is subjective, so idk
But, you can probs up a few components for slightly better perf. What's the max budget for the PC itself?
now that is budget
really shattering the bank there.
bet you could get a cheaper ryzen and some ram,
hard drive might not be do expensive
Get this then. $15 over budget sadly
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/XnVZFG
Better GPU perf at least
better upgradability
I mean dude you might just want to buy like a old intel nuc, because that things about as powerful as new raspberry pi or a latte panda.
now hei's is good
PC's are confusing ;-;
Pc's are simple, they just seem confusing. it takes a genus to make a simple machine that a idiot can build. PC's and there parts are simplistically complicated.
I mean... to be fair...
we all learn somehow.
I use pcpartpicker,
I like linus, he's funmy.
Try to get faster memory and maybe not a rosewill case
Ok what is wrong with a rosewill case?
I've heard they have bad airflow
I guess I've never looked it up myself so maybe I shouldn't say anything about them
I own a Rosewill case and everything is nice and chilly
Can you re edit it for me? Idk what to choose I just need something cheap
besides that his system will only have a 3200G
I just wanna play league and apex :-:
Idk people have just told me rosewill cases are bad so I've passed that along but I'll have to do some research I guess
Wth how am I supposed to get a monitor mouse and keyboard
Well you needed a motherboard that supports 3000 series out of the box
the one you picked you would need a 2000 series CPU to update the bios
When using just Ryzen 3's or 5's without a dedicated GPU you would need more memory and faster on top of it
@vagrant radish things like monitors you could actually find nice one's on Kijiji
;-; I wish I had more money
@vagrant radish This is just an example of what you would find on Kijiji https://i.gyazo.com/7f553f9b9f56edff4190f2f1f202d30d.png
If you are building a extreme budget gaming PC the most frames you would get in most games would be in the 50's
Ok
So @vagrant radish if you were planning on spending like 200$ on a monitor with no dedicated GPU and using that case then you would be better off buying a used monitor on Kijiji for a lot less money because the case you did pick out would be fine for just the APU but if you were planning on adding a GPU in the future you would need something with more and better airflow
alternatively you could buy a laptop,
which would work far better,
and would come with a screan,
and wouldent be the equilvant of a toaster.
Laptop would cost a lot more then
Remember he is Canadian prices
@fossil hedge For a laptop better spec this is how much it would cost him https://www.newegg.ca/black-red-acer-nitro-an515-43-r2mg-gaming-entertainment/p/N82E16834316802
well you last pc part picker does not have a moiniter, sooo
There is this one as well but while the CPU would be better you can't overclock the iGPU https://www.newegg.ca/natural-silver-lenovo-ideapad-330s/p/1TS-000E-0FAM1
so what's his actual budget here.
I gave him examples of where he could find a monitor to fit his budget
I see.
so his total budget is 540 or somthing?
I'm not saying I disagree with your desktop,
His original build is about 366$ without the monitor and keyboard but the problem with the build he had doesn't support Ryzen 3000 series out of the box and only 8gb of memory at 2400MHz
ok, but your saying its 400+?
total if he was going for a new monitor would be about 500$
is he planning on gaming?
So ya the system would need more than 8gb cause the iGPU would take like 2gb out of your memory
So it would be like 2gb Vram and 6gb memory in a way
I mean, I like the system so far, I fully understand a upgrade path is far suprioir to a laptop.
I was just saying if you could get a monitor, keyboard, realtivly equil performance, and portably, why not. I mean there are also consoles, older ones are always on sale. I just am saying with this kind of budget goes it make a whole lot of sense.
Honestly I might just do the Dell optiplex thing
pre builts might also be cheaper yeah.
@vagrant radish you'd need to go with this one then and slap in a GTX 1650 Super https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Dell-OptiPlex-7020-MT-Intel-Core-i5-4690-8-GB-RAM-No-HDD-AMD-HD8490-Win-7-COA/164029946649
The HD 8490 in that system is crap for gaming
Link me some pre builts then
i just did >_<
MT is like main tower so you can fit inside an actual GPU and not have to worry about getting a low profile one
Not a laptop
You do see the ebay link right?
._. nvm I see it
-_-
in CPU performance the 4690 is just like the 3200G
but one thing you have to remember as well with those older systems if they use DDR3 memory
You can hit your mark on how much to spend with that system adding in a GTX 1650 Super and replacing the memory with this one https://www.newegg.ca/corsair-16gb-240-pin-ddr3-sdram/p/N82E16820233374
For a lot of games you don't want to be using 8gb of memory
MT is mini tower - careful with your GPU size recommendations there
You can drill out the rivets that secure the 3.5 HDD cage to free up more room though.
source: I have a dysfunctional family of optiplex
@celest horizon This is why i am saying for the 1650 Super cause it will fit and for the CPU that it is would be more than enough
Well 1650 Super within a full build would need 350w so if the system has 400-450w it would be more than enough ๐
I wanted to buy an optiplex but with a 3770 in it
the problem is the one's i find on ebay that is not bidding comes from China so i know how long that would take to get to me
Gammaxx GT TGA TUF EDITION VS IDCOOLING AURAFLOW X240
hey i have a question about my pc
go ahead, someone will answer when they can
Does anyone know why when i enter my bios and go to post gpu and no gpu is recognized and another problem when i am playing a game my gpu fans barely spins and i am afraid it will overheat any suggestions on how to fix this?
@lilac turret Dedicated GPU's wont show up in your bios and also for the fans on your GPU you would have to play with the fan curve also use MSI afterburner to monitor your GPU temps cause it you end up going way over 80c on your GPU then it would be bad
Ok thank you so much๐
Dedicated GPUs can show up in your bios
Default fan curves for many current gen popular cards like a gtx 1060, 1080 ti, 2060, whatever - often let the fans sleep at 0 rpm until core temp hits 45C or so -
Like ecks recommended - msi afterburner , or your GPU brand's specific software can let you monitor/control temps etc
Ok thank you @celest horizon
Idk anything about pcs like that but is this a good price for this ?
A start pc and later in the future to upgrade to a i7
Finally built my pc
My psu sata power cable has two ends one on the middle and one on the tip. Could I plug the middle end into the HDD and the point end to the case? ๐ค
So I basically get the job done with one cable?
@little osprey yes that is a decent one for the price but you can build yourself a better one with that money
also upgrading anything let alone a cpu with a prebuilt requires upgrading the powersupply. also if anything upgrade the graphics card not the cpu. cpu will not.have a huge performance increase
@naive viper yes u can plug multiple sata power with one cable
yee
Will the 1600 AF be a bottleneck for the 5700?
Is the jump of $100 worth getting the 2700x instead?
nah should be fine.
Weird question. So yesterday, my PC was fine, but now when I powered it on, whenever I scroll down any page, my PC makes a weird kind of weird hiss/static noise. I don't think this was happening yesterday. (I've looked it up already)
@teal bison it should be ok, its not the greatest cpu on earth, but if you do have the budget, upgrading to a 2700x is a good call.
but yeah its not going to bottlneck anything.
might not run well, but it should be ok.
@static lichen , scrolling makes it hiss?
Yes
It seems to come from the top right of my case, when looking at it from the left side
@fossil hedge
I mean. are you sure its not doing that all the time, or just when its under load?
I just have discord and chrome open right now, and in both when I scroll, it makes the noise.
could you start up some kinda workload or game to see if it starts up when its under load?
yeah, I'll do Destiny 2
@fossil hedge It still seems to do it, now there seems to be a kind of similar noise coming from one of my top fans.
I have no idea what this is though
Did you tighten the screw for the fan and it is also straight in and not crooked?
coil/cap whine
At the top of their case?
I haven't toutched anything\
Well have you installed the fans yourself or is it a premade
Myself
ok so is the screws straight in and is it not loose
They should be, I'll make sure
Always check to see how everything is first if you see or hear any problems
are the screws also straight?
I'll have to take off my side panel, but from what I see, they are straight
Just by looking down on them from the top
They're flat
open the side panel see if they are moving around if so tighten it a bit
might fix the problem
Ok
how old are the fans as well?
But what about the weird noise when I scroll?
Umm I just build this PC 2 days ago, on Friday
I'm assuming that I should power it off, and use my phone for discord instead?
Ill be back in about 10 min but i would also suggest taking some pictures so people like Box or Bek can help out
ok
So yea, there isn't much at the top of the case, the case fans at the top are likely where the issues are at
So that can cause the noise when I scroll then? If so, that's weird.
Heres my hypothesis, putting some load on the pc by making it do stuff, might make the fan move onto the higher rpm mode, and might then be either touching something or just like rattling against the case.
All if the fans seem to be in fine and straight
On my second fan, there are some wires running from the mobo and behind where the fan is at the top
Try to move the wires to be less likely to touch the fan
And keep an eye on if the wires are interfering with the fan
I just did that, and it still is doing it
Need 3600 mhz ram for that processor
I mean you might want more value put into the GPU
Also sabrent rocket q is not great
Here's something in that price range, less the fans
Also 5$ ebay win10 key
You could just pirate windows
It would save you 100 bucks
They might like the corsair case better
Or just buy a cheap key from a third party seller
Of course, but it has a 2060 super and the proper ram
Ebay WIndows 10 key
n oWiFi mobo though either
hmmmm
Lemme move some things around
Their case, better ram, better NVME
@mossy citrus
@muted patio remove NVMe for SATA to get 2070S and replace Ram as it's CL19
Idk, that's a $60 increase for the SATA SSD to NVMe SSD, but a $65 decrease to stay at a 2060S instead of 2070S
NVMe prices as a whole went way up
does your chipset have a cooling fan?
what motherboard do you have
msi pro carbon wifi 570
open the case and look at the fan
is it spinning?
it might be triggered by a temperature threshold
so it might not spin up while in the bios
Ill check
Thanks for the info
So i looked at the msi forum
Its supposed to be triggred once it passes the 60ยฐc threshhold
Mine only at 51 so i think were good
I have a question, what would you recommend to be a minimal budget for a mid range pc
mid range would be like ~1000 imo
unless you want to figuratively smash you head against a wall and try to build a 1500 USD computer on a budget of 880,
by buying used hardware, and trafficing across the entire state of Colorado.
bet I wasted like 100 USD in gas
@shadow storm ask the other way around instead: What do you think a minimal budget midrange pc should be able to do?
