Let’s see some pictures of slot with the card removed
What motherboard it is?
That’s gonna be the most helpful
is it?
z390 a pro
I'm a grab a book
We’ll get you through this
Ah
pats @little osprey visibly damp head with towel
take the standoff out
Screw it into the right hole
Then use another screw to hold the M.2 into the standoff
Bingo!!!!
how do i take the standoff out though
Good question
oh
I’d get some grippy sons of grabbers and turn that puppy out
Eh, kinda. If it's tight might need a screwdriver
it's been like 3 months only lol
LOL
my are applause

I'm good now but god the front panel connectors were annoying
we did it, gang
YAY!
Gang gang
PS, I don't have NVME drives yet. Therefor I am jealous
at least you know how to use them
Eh
Every motherboard is different though, that's the spoopy part
Some use different standoffs
Nvme gud
the verge not the verge
Check out Displate's metal posters at https://lmg.gg/displateltt
Use code LINUS and get 25% off GlassWire at https://lmg.gg/glasswire
Now that we’ve got new hardware to play with, it’s time to resurrect the Build Guides once again, this time looking for the absolute bes...
how about this
what is the first thing I should do if my pc boots up but there is nothign on the display but it was working fine this morning?
ofc budget is irrelevant in your situation since you seem to have all the parts?
try hooking up a vga monitor, or some other display output you may have that will work to see if the screen shows anything
not sure if that's great advice but it's the first thing I would think to do
¯_(ツ)_/¯
well it is plugged into my tv currently
and i switched over to another input and turned my ps4 on and it shows up fine
and I don't exactly know how to power my pc off if I can't see the screen
damn
time to bust out that manual
Try a different jack on the video card
there's only 1 HDMI
o
it's weird
like everything powers on
there's just no signal
and it worked perfeclty fine this morning too
Well, everything works fine until it doesn't
is there like a safe, universal way to turn it off?
Yeah, the reset putton
hold the power button?
Or press and hold the power button
imma just give it a good hot minute and try the good ol "off and on"
I hate to keep turning it off/on though
so ture lol
maybe it didn't recognize something for whatever reason
i did technically swtich it from HDM2 to HDMI 1 but that honestly shouldn't matter
With modern OSs hard shutoffs aren't really damaging unless you did it during an update or bios flash
There are multiple auto recovery tools both with the OS and many programs
Hello all, this is my first time here.
I am building a new machine and I wanted to be sure the parts for my new build were compatible. Am I in the right place?
yes
Nice! should I post my list?
sure

this all looks pretty good
64 GB of RAM?
yeah no
I will check
I edit video
Also, Ryzen 2000 series with X570 motherboard is a bit pointless
Either go 3000 series and X570 or 2000 series and B450, X370 or X470
12 or 13
yes
I mean, I know you edit video but 64 GB of ram really needed?
Thats what I have now.
So I pushed my ryzen 5 2600 to 3.95 ghz but it wont sit stable at 4 ghz
And I've pushed my voltage to 1.32V
i think it's fine to let him have 64GB, he's comfortable working with that much
Well, the money could be spent on a 3700X
it's not the most expensive thing in a system
which for editing would be a big boost
ah i see
more cores/threads and clock speeds
Well now I have 64 DDR3
How much of that actually gets used though?
The adobe suite eats ram for dinner.
Well when I am rendering something from After Effects most of it.
I am checking it...
Most new motherboards shipping should have the ABBA BIOS for Ryzen 3
SO change that and the RX570 to a 1660 super
do you like asus or msi?
the b450
B450 Tomahawk is a good one
One of the best b450 mobos is the msi b450 tomahawk
Okay got it
No m.2 nvme boot?
that build is overwrought a little bit
Well, on Dec 30th they have one
3600/3700x/, best yet a 3900x over a 2700x would be my pick for that use case.
the AIO isn't necessary
OP on a tight budget though, 1200-1300. Can be done with a 1660 super ILO 5700XT and H100i
ya
Bekora nice list.
i didn't
But needs a couple changes
Oh, Emperor Calus
the AIO is too much, you could create a lot of headroom with a Hyper T2/212 Evo
which are both cheap
IDK this one, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GBL2k6
Working on a list
Any recommended builds with a 1k budget??
lol
64 gigs
boot drive
1660s
good evga one
scythe mugen
seems good to me
2060 super or 2070 super??
1K budget?
Whats the difference anyways??
For a whole build?
Nevermind the 1k budget
Ah, if you aren't a streamer, get a 5700XT
Yeah im prolly not going to stream
5700XT then. At the $400 price point, it can't be beat for 1440p and VR gaming. 1080p too
Looks good, but I wouldn't rule out the option for swapping the prism for a $50-$80 air cooler - they last forever and can run quieter if that is of value.
can always just start with the prism and change later if desired
Right, was trying to stay under $1300
working on a list atm
I have a buddy running a 2700x on a prism, but his pc is next to the central air intake, so noise is a non-issue.
My 3700X on the prism did OK but was a tad warm
The 2060 super is significantly cheaper than the 2070 super, but whats the difference
Ray Tracing ability, pretty much
I have mine on a dark rock pro 4 - runs fine, don't really OC or anything anyway, but silence is nice
2060 ray tracing is oof
I feel they can both run a 1440 p with raytracng
Raytracing*
The 7VFGk6 list looks great for my budget
So... would you recommend the 2070 super??
If you want ray tracing at 1440p, yes
@arctic wing ONly thing I'd consider is adding a Scythe Mugen 5 now or later down the road for CPU cooling. Or a good 240mm AIO
Alright thank you:)
Welcome!
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Lfp8Zf @arctic wing
Hyper 212 Evo is not great for the money
really? I have had nothing but good experiences with it
Mugen 5 is pretty crazy good for the value, I just like Noctua's mounting hardware over everything I've used.
I'm not a huge noctua fan fan other than the prohibitively expensive NF A12x25
On Ryzen, it was the equivalent of the stock Prism
if you can suggest a better one by all means
Scythe Mugen 5
my knowledge of coolers at that price range is limited
Scythe Mugen 5 is a good deal, thanks
U14 or U12 for the Noctua
u12a is the dual nf a12x25 model
Trade out the Samsung evo for a sabrent Rocket M.2 1 TB
only $10 more for twice the storage and speed
that upper thing @arctic wing
@round flare Sabrent ROcket 1 TB NVME is only $10 more than the Samsung. I'd just go with that rather than the samsung
where did you find the sabrent Rocket M.2 1 TB?
Sabrent Rocket is on Amazon
Okay thank you
That's right
Not familiar with that RAM brand but haven't heard anything bad about it either
calus made a good list
i did one slightly under $13K
first time
$13K??
I just bought a new motorcycle for that lol
my work build is that
can't forget the level 20
PSU overkill? https://i.imgur.com/WEWn29r.jpg
Thats a great deal
Chiller test bed lol.
Ah
That's high grade automotive stuff lol
I see the cooler and the fan now
Looks like an auto trans or power steering cooler
Yep, oil cooler, derale 8an unit.
Ya, I'll post more in #old-cooling if interested, don't want to de-rale (ha) the build chat
just curious, I thought of using automotive stuff for a cooler
Let’s us know what she cranks out when you put it on the dyno
do i need to connect it
Not unless something needs it
so would my gpu be fine with just the 8 pin
Uh, what GPU?
I mean
It’s called a boomer cable
Might have come with a Molex to 6 pin or 8 pin connector
8 and 6 yeah
It’s how we hooked up that their ide and scsi drives.
and fans
You definitely need to plug in both pcie plugs on a gpu. Both the 8 and 6 pin in this case. It can be safe to use adapters like a 2x molex to 1x pcie , but always check psu rail current limits.
Avoid sata power -> pcie power adapter like the plague unless you really know the electrical bits' details or you enjoy fire.
does this look right
holy heck
The plugs should be labeled
oh no
PCI-E is for the GPU
why is there so many branches
@little osprey Is that modular?
semi
well uh, careful there then. Them modular cables can have weird pin outs
Will work if you use the correct cables for the correct plug
I'm surprised adapters are needed at all - any/most modern PSU's shouldn' tneed them
Just make sure to look at any labels on the cables
Wait
remove that Y cable
The 6 pin is an 8 pin with the Extra 2 pin connector there. Then there is a 6 pin also
Both of those go to the GPU
Right, so that PSU's dual 6+2 pcie power cable can feed the entire card alone.
Some (myself included) recommend running two cables anyway, but it's not critical.
fixed it i think
I mean Jayz did a test on the daisy chain vs individual cables. Lost like 1% or <1% perf
but still lost a very, very slight amount of perf
Performance isn't what I'd be concerned about, though, depends a lot on wire gaugue, PSU/GPU ofc , lot of unknows.
Fix the other half and good to go
aight thanks

bend it back I guess
what would yall say is best p2p gpu rn
5700 with xt bios 🤔
Is this the same as a add_header? I’m confused on where my fan hub goes to
@little osprey bend it back man
you can use the same screws used for the psu 👌
ugh it happebed again
wtfffff
my monitor comes like halfway on with the home screen and then flashes to black and gives me "no signal" but everything power-wise boots on perfectly fine
I don't understand why this is happening
and then just like yesterday, turning it off waiting a hot minute and then turning it back on sloved it immediately
but I don't wanna have to do that EVERY TIME I turn on mypc
it makes no sense
no my monitor turns on and works fine
cables are connected and everything
monitor powers on fine and everything
but it just gives me no signal between my pc and the tv
it comesl ike "halfway" on and then it looks like it just craps out
Have u tried swapping out the cables
And/or using different ports
That includes different connectors if necessary
I only have 1 HDMI port in my graphics card but I know we;ve got extra laying around soI should just try that next
with how many moving parts pc's have I wouldn't be surprised if ANYTHING in my case or attatched to it could be an issue
that's what scares me about pc's lol
I guess that's true
I move my pc like just about never, I never really worry about that, yet it still worries me
Gotta remind myself to just try a different cable if it's not working
dust would be my main worry at that point
I've only had my siystem for like 4 or 5 days
Reason: Bad word usage
I'm especially worried about dust after I saaw this

Emperor Calus did one last night
Leaves you room to choose a nice case and a larger HD for storage if you need one
@little osprey
Yeah, it's fine
The B450 should come with the right BIOS to run the 3000 series Ryzen
@little osprey https://pcpartpicker.com/user/southpawpad/saved/rtWHBm
this is my exact build right now
its actually like $100 cheaper than when I bought it
I'm trying to build a pc and having issues everywhere I go, yikes..
It's my first pc as well-
Well not really
Since.
CPU fan won't spin, fan 1 and 3 won't spin in the case.
I can't load up to my displayport.
CPU fan might only spin at a certain temperature
Should have a pic with fan header layout
Using a b450 gaming plus max, updated bios from a thumb drive and now trying to boot up but for some reason it can't find the operating system...any thoughts?
Make sure u are booting off the correct device
Spam like f12 or whatever the key is for bootmenu, and make sure to select the device with os on it
If that doesn't work, there might be some default settings after updating that are interfering, idk them off the top of my head, but you can look through storage configurations in bios/google the settings
@little osprey well I can play hellblade and witcher 3 on max settings
@sterile wave the correct device is selected but when I press enter, nothing happens lol
Oof
Reason: Bad word usage
Gdi
Go into bios and ensure settings are correct like ahci enabled and other stuff I don't remember
U can google all the settings or wait for bigger brains here
I'm on potato phone so can't browse rn
@livid echo make sure to switch between UEFI and Legacy boot a few times. Switch and then reboot twice or something to check, then switch and reboot few times
@cursive wharf what do you mean by legacy boot?
double bios is op
Legacy is the older type of bios
Now called legacy since it's older
Uefi is modern and has more capabilities
They're basically different bios versions, most modern boards should be uefi but support legacy
So if u can find that setting somewhere in bios, try what Hei wrote
Which one?
Good thing we share same type. Or we would wait for part to come lol
Platinum wow
Lol oops
Thanks for noticing
Np lol
Anyway I don’t understand
Old psu is this
Somehow it’s became failure in a barely year
Damn that's quite unlucky
I'm not a Pau expert but you might consider asking someone else before you order.
You've had two fail now?
It's definitely a good quality psu it seems
I did long ago when psu went weird and I found the solution that caused the weird way
Before psi’s weird happens. Like waking up in middle of night often.
So I found this and switched to single. No problem since until last night
So do you think psu was wearing down?
Ahh
I'd ask in the power supply channel. I'm not super knowledgeable about those but someone else might be able to help.
U mean the computer turned on randomly in middle of night or just psu?
Yeah it is an inanimate object. It doesn’t care.
Psu's have feelings too
Lol
Yes
Sorry, that’s not a real gender.
Hmmm
If it's pc, it could be other things, but honestly, I wouldn't use that psu especially since his computer looks quite expensive
Wouldn't want bad things to happen
Yea
If it's acting up, time to say bye bye
My psu?
The bad one
Yea idk why it became worse
Urs is the rm 750?
Has there been any funny behavior with the 750 in his pc?
Is that chrome front
no thats just the glare
Man that look like so nice
I like two tone colors.
I am tempted to spray my pc’s inside white
My husband want me to ask. Is this would be fine?
seems pretty good
Okay then
Yes
Then I switched to single. No problems for few months
Needs to be a high power single rail
How many amps does the 12V supply on it?
I would avoid a power supply that has a single and multiple rail switch
Looking now
Ok
Seasonic
It is actually one of the better companies
not necessary
The Seasonic goold is well more than enough
The titanium/platinum thing is honestly just marketing
the one i linked has a platinum option but i only use platinum or titanium when i way over push the psu
Seasonic is a great manufacturer with quality components
Either of the two posted will be fine
This is for me but if i was to swap out my PSU i would be getting this https://www.newegg.ca/seasonic-focus-650-gold-ssr-650fm-650w/p/N82E16817151202
the only time i use them is when i am running 4gpu setups
Oo
1000 watts is overkill for a single card setup honestly
But if that's what they want it's not hurting anything
it is future proofing 😛
I need help
yeah unless your running a super overkill processor
You don't
Actually
screwing it in?
Or take the front cover off
It’s literally meant for installing fans
My husband have i9-9900k
Fans go inside
@muted patio how am I supposed to do that
Just pull
that isnt a overkill processor
With some decent force
It can be over looked
Front cover should come off
Oops
i more mean xeon, hedt, threadripper
Check your manual;
OC
@silver meteor on the bottom there should be a handle thing to pull it off
Ahh
@latent bronze the NR600 has that?
IT WORKED
Kinda
Yes
Just make sure the arrows point the right way for airflow
SHould be stamped on the fan
Thanks
Welcome!
This part is easy damn
Looks like those fans are facing the wrong way xd
you have that backwars
Wait what
fan hub should face forward
What?
Uhh
@polar holly what
That is a very solid supply
Yea lol
turn it around and it will pull air throuhg the case
That’s good?
And blow air out the back
That’s good or?
Yes
for a r5 3600x would 3200 ram be good or should i stick with the 3600??
because i wanna buy everything in store tomorrow but they don’t seem to have 3600
would there be a decent difference though
i Run the second one personally its great
Check on Newegg as well to see if it is cheaper
Okay
If you wanted to save a little 80+ Gold like this one is still very good https://www.newegg.com/seasonic-prime-ultra-gold-ssr-1000gd-1000w/p/N82E16817151199
My husband like top stuff
@zenith glacier idk, I’ve heard good things about the first one but both seem pretty good
yall
so i have a prebuilt to last me while i wait on shipping for my actual desktop, when it arrives, should i take the 8 gigs of ram from this and put it in the new one for a total of 24? (it's definitely not the same model, but its all 2666 mhz)
@latent bronze Prime Gold isnt bad, but I'd get better if I were getting 1000w
@zenith glacier so youre looking for a 1000w PSU?
yeah the ones she linked are good choices
Good choices, but not always the best for the price
Decent. Would've went with better if I were doing 1000w tho
Fun fact, PSUs aren't as basic as just wattage and ratings. There is a lot more to PSUs than that
Corsair 1000RMi for $200 I would've gotten. Bit better and cheaper
Or Antec High Current Pro Platinum 1000w for $226. Better than both Plat PX and RMi.
That Antec PSU I listed is one of the best PSUs you can buy tbh
@silver meteor how you know about the ram but dont know which way to put your fans, Merry Christmas
is 3500x for aliexpress a bad idea
there cpus dont rlly seem to be fake
and they are 115 there
you’ll be waiting like a month for shipping probsbly
i know
im ok with that
the issue is the rail setup on corsair isnt as good as a equaivalent model from seasonic
wdym
Ah
@sterile wave they do actually have 3600 ram, but i only see cl18
is that normal for 3600 or should i try finding lower
Receive an additional $25 credit for Ting today when you sign up at https://linus.ting.com/
Use code LINUS and get 25% off GlassWire at https://lmg.gg/glasswire
Everyone knows Ryzen LOVES fast RAM.. But AMD made some tweaks to the 3000-series that make it less straightforwa...
If u want a full rundown
CL18 is kinda meh
Watch this
Even if 3600 having that high CL just kinda makes it pointless in 3600 vs decent 3200
A cl16 3600 would be perfect, but a CL16 3200 really wouldn't be far off
If theres nothin better than 3600 18, check if there 3200 16 or 15
what do yall think of this so far, it's just pieces im planning to buy gradually one by one
if any changes or suggestions should be made please say
What, no evga case?
@wispy wagon do you plan to stream
a 3200 CL 16 kit and a 3600 CL 18 kit both have the same latency of exactly 10ns
so if the price is the same you might as well get the 3600 kit as you have the benefit now in bandwidth vs the 3200 kit
https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232880 @oblique karma same memory cheaper price
and don't mention prime cause you can see it say free shipping on the newegg one
alright well i’m hoping to get everything in store tomorrow so i’ll probably just have to settle with the 17/18
but if they’re the same price, should i go 3200 16 or 3600 18???
theyre both the same effective speed so it really depends on the cpu
but if theyre both the same price and regardless of cpu id grab the 3600/18 and maybe you can tighten the timings a little
okay because i’m also using a ryzen 5 3600x
yeah ryzen tends to favor faster ram and the higher speed of 3600 will have a more dramatic affect with tighter timings than the 3200
i think the 3600/18 is cheaper as well, so i’ll probably end up getting that one
^^^ on sale
nice
For plug and play best performance/effort on zen2 , 3600c(anything) will do you well. 3600 16 19 19 39 is fine, and that's a good deal it seems.
Is the Corsair CX series of PSUs good or nah?
how old is it?
@warped moat I’m fairly new at pc specs, streaming would help if you or anybody could guide me
I been watching Linus tech tips and a ton of other similar YouTubers which got me to learn the basics of where everything goes and some minor terminology
@zenith glacier how do you know it failed or how did you pin point a psu?
@zenith glacier Corsair Power Supplies are pretty good, plus it's a platinum so it could of been a cap popped or the motherboard or GPU had a fault and tripped the power supply as well
I have $200 to upgrade my PC, I have a R5 3600, 5700xt, Asus b450 mb, h100i v2 plat ( 240mm ), 1 tb sunbow tc SSD, and deepcool rf 120mm fans. What should I upgrade?
No I have the h100i liquid cooler
Is that corsair
Yep
Oh I confused that with the h series of cases from NZXT
Well personally I think you should save the 200
Your rig is great
Well I have more than 200 I just but that amount aside just in case I feel like changing something; however, my fans are very loud while under load so I kinda want to upgrade them.
One sec I'm going to send the picture
Woh
I’m doing a purple rig tomorrow
Sorry I have no idea how to help you as I don’t know the details and feel like the main components are fine
PNY CS900, ADATA SU800, or Team L5 Lite 3D for a 240gb budget SSD?
I was going to get a pny SSD and I heard adata does make bad ones but I don't know much about team L5 lite ssds
@dry tinsel are you the tech God?
I don't know where I heard adata was bad
Someone just told me no when I asked if I should
i recommend you try the SU800 if you want a 2.5" SSD
if you want M.2 then i'd suggest Sabrent Rocket (not Sabrent Q, don't get that white label for anything)
@quartz cairn that's your answer ^
@dry tinsel https://www.amazon.com/Antec-Supply-Sleeved-Extension-Length/dp/B07C6CLXW8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=psu+cables+white&qid=1577323496&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFPUDJRNUVZRExNRFYmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA1MzEyMTEzNTgzN0xBWlg2R01WJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAwNjY3NDgzUThMOFA4QjhUODIzJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU= if I have a 650w psu will these cables work or do I have to buy a specific one
You would plug your existing PSU cables into these @wary tundra
Yeah I know
Someone told me I had to check if they're the same wattage but the wattage wasent listed
@lyric hound The led, two of them was flashing, they are connected to psu, and rgb on gpu was off too. The monitor was not on so @muted patio suggested try different psu which is mine, and i did switched. With my psu, it works fine.
@wary tundra wattage doesn't matter
The only thing that matters is voltage
Which is mostly controlled by the mobo
So long as you put the right cables on the right cables
It should be fine
Mouse?
Also what's the use case?
Because if you're just gaming
I might go 3400G that way you have significantly better singlethreaded
K cool
I just finished building my first rig
Yeah I would go 3400G but either are great processors tbh
Nice! @shut olive, how'd it go?
It was a lot simpler to build than I thought it’d be
Adult Legos as it were
I would send a pic but my phone is bugging out
Yeah pretty much
Downloading boot up software now from my laptop
Awesome!
In two days my graphics card will arrive and I will finally be able to join pc masterrace
Epic
Sure didn't stop me though
I played on an integrated R7
Not a modern R7
An FX CPU R7
A mobile FX R7
@tidal gorge Well few things to change in your build
Bad PSU
Get a 1650 Super for same price (it's better)
Spend a bit more on mobo for upgradability
Ram is a tiny bit pricy
Also keyboard is garbage for price
any recommendations for ram
look up the error code
Nah, I just added my new motherboard and cpu, and it just is crashing my hdd
And I added all my old storage back now its freezing
I cant have my old ssd and hdd on the same pc, idk why
But it also cant run without it, so I'm in a weird predicament
did you reset the order that they are booting into
After a certain amount of PC components replaced windows likes to pretend it's in a different PC
Ah, I see
I'm pretty sure you need to go through recovery if that's the case
I cant though lmfao
I cant have both plugged in, and when I try one at a time, it just boots me into the hdd error screen
So if you press f1?
I probably have the USB somewhere
I'm tossing the hdd for now
I'll recover it later
Good luck
Lmao thanks
I can run you through a bit more troubleshooting later if ya'd like just @ me
Idk if I have windows on this drive or not tho so I'm spook
I would be if I didn't run Linux
Lmao yupp
It's easy enough to make a new one if you can't find it
Yeah
Well, it says I have windows on this ssd, but I doubt it
Ok idk if this is the USB working its magic or if I actually had windows on this ssd lmfao
Because I'm stuck on a screen with the blue windows logo there
Yeah, I think it froze lmao
Oof
Yup, both of those storage devices are broke
I think they shared windows? Like they both showed to have parts of windows
Did you have anything like raid/unraid?
I dont think I have it enabled
And my usb keeps freezing reeeee
Why is this so scuffed, I've never had anything like this even happen
¯\༼ ಥ ‿ ಥ ༽/¯
Did it work?
It froze when I started the install
So ima just let it go
And hope it fixes itself
Best a luck to ya
Yup
Does anyone know if you can install a motherboard with rear and top fan installed
Um you should be able to, it depends on the case
Ok. Just wanted to make sure I should be able to before trying it and having to take it apart because I can’t
Quick question for whoever wants to give me their advice. I just got a 1tb hard drive for my first pc build, I’m getting an SSD to put my operating system on and maybe a few games, do I go with a 250gb and save some money or should I just get 500gb and save myself the upgrade later down the line
I also still need a case, motherboard, and a power supply and I’m looking at $300 for all 4
what cpu and gpu are you currently running
I have a Ryzen 5 2600 and a xfx 570 8gb
I’m looking for at probably getting a 650 watt power supply, either an MSI X470 motherboard or a b450 tomahawk
And I really want the Corsair carbide spec 04 for the case
I’m also not sure if I should get additional LEDs and cable extenders but that’s just if I have extra money in the budget
Should I go with the 500gb SSD or cheap out and get a 250 for now
250 for now
Alright. Also I need a case recommendation. I’m trying to go for something red to fit my aesthetic I’m going for but all of the spec 04’s I’m seeing online are sold out or a lot more expensive
Having games on a boot drive just slows it down
I might do the 250 and use the extra money on cable extenders
Also if you want a good ssd deal, get a 860 evo 1 terabyte they are %50 off
On amazon that is
yo
@muted patio
im feeling really bad about my purchase
i was fighting with my friends the other day
about between the 5700xt and 2060 super for streaming and gaming at high refreshrates during professional play
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qJnphg @brittle ibex this would work for you correct
and i purchased the rtx 2060 super and now feel like im being harrased for buying a certain card
Then thats not a true friend if he is harrasing you for it
Tell your friend to chill
Well, your friends are jerks. We proved amds hardware encoding is garbage. Sorry they are treating you that way over a simple hardware decision.
Like its your stuff whats it matter to them what it is
@polar holly I think I’m gonna use that SSD and the power supply but I just saw the Spec 05 is only $65 rn and I already got 3 red LED fans, thank you
alright that works buy what you need i just put fans becasue case only comes with one
Ugh
Yeah lol I noticed that, it’s such a clean looking case too but I think the Spec 5 might be an upgrade honestly, and it fits in my price range just enough so that I can buy the cable extenders still
Comparing which encoders?
Ignorance is strong. It's not about performance
It's about wualityt
Amds hardware encoder vs nvenc. Amds is sub par quality wise.
When you're single PC streaming, having the option to NVENC encode is a very nice performance oriented option.
It was about the use of streaming on a 2600x and either a 2060super or a 5700xt with minmal performace penalty
Yeah his friends are calling him stupid for going nvidia
I thought it's pretty common knowlege that if you like single pc streaming, the $100 premium on say - a 2070 super vs 5700xt is worth considering for the NVENC support and all. It's certainly not impossible to single pc stream x264 - but even on a 3900x, good settings, some games won't play nice.
This is simple. You do you. If your friends are going off like this over a gpu decision I would just remove myself from the situation.
I thought it'd be over pascal vs turing or something lol.
i told them i bought the card already
and they told me to buy a card that wouldnt fit in my case
i told them the best card that would fit in my case was the one @muted patio showed me
this one takes 2.5 slots
the other one takes 3 and more with the plastic covering
Evga is king
i aggree
2060 super xc or something
and their still barating me for going evga
they all hate evga
they said anything but evga
@ (つ◕౪◕)つ ya - TL;DR the Jan 2019 OBS 23.0 update changed the game. Performance optimization for both pascal/turing + quality improvement for turing iirc.
They are uneducated. Nothing more or less.
Fan boys will always have ignorance is bliss
@muted patio in a month ill be back to tell you how much money i make off fortnite
compared to 6 months of being on a 1050ti and a 960
I'm a huge EVGA fanboy - but I think I make that transparent haha.
crazy how 160 stuttering can change how good someone play
compared to 165 non stutering
Dropped frames are bad
I try and not fan over one to another but some are hard not to reccomend
ya, you're going to want to cap your framerate
@little osprey more likely to find more help in #507714109786030081
but some may in this chat also
Oh thanks
Didn’t realize that was a thing
I’m in the wrong chat anyways lol I thought I was in general or a tech chat
Can someone get me a spreadsheet of this
Spreadsheet?
@muted patio my friend just sent me a vid of linus saying which graphics card is better
and linus's vid only talks about straight performace -_-
doesnt include streaming or cpus
Right. Seriously man. They're toxic. Take a break from them. This is honestly a bit ridiculous.
yea
it kinda hurts
cause now his friend that i dont even know
who doesnt even own an rtx card -_-
is telling me not to get it
hes the one who recommended me the oversized card
xD
Just on everything
done lol
Does 2 SSDs really help with performance?
Like having windows on one and everything else on the other?
I've never heard of that but it's possible
can also RAID0 them
I need some help upgrading my pc. Is this the right channel for that?
Yea just post whatever your looking for, it’s a matter of the right person responding to you though
Try mentioning somebody with a techie role and ask if they got time
@brisk fiber
Thank you
@dry tinsel If you have the time, could you help me with some questions I have about upgrading my pc?
What questions do you have I may be able to help
I'm trying to upgrade my graphics card, and can't tell if there's going to be any incompatibilities. I tried using PC Parts Picker but it didn't have the parts my computer has. https://www.newegg.com/p/3D5-000B-000N9?Item=9SIABFS9KS9797&utm_medium=TraEmail&utm_source=TEMC-Function-Voting-Invitation-USA&cm_mmc=TEMC-Function-Voting-Invitation-USA-_-index-_-product-link-_-9SIABFS9KS9797
This is the one I bought and am trying to upgrade.
Pcpartpicker would not have a oem parts. But the main restrictions for that will be( size, power connections, length)
