this acer might be decent @gentle bay https://www.amazon.com/Acer-CB272-bmiprx-FreeSync-Technology/dp/B07V9ZM155/
It sounds really really temptingn
and nicd
but the reviews are a mixed bag
regardless, I greatly appreicate your efforts keegan
if you're willing to go 60Hz, or non-IPS 144Hz, you might find a better one in that price range, 75Hz monitors are kind of oddballs
Like the middle child
Or the only child in this case
But whats better a 144 non ips
or a 75 hz ips
if you play shooters definitely the 144hz
idk for singleplayer 60-75Hz is fine most of the time
i don't even know if there's a difference between 60 and 75
i haven't played it enough to really know
but your 1660 ti would definitely be getting 120+ fps in league i would think
i'm so used to 144Hz that 60Hz just feels like laggy and stuttery to me in games now lol
but i'll play singleplayer stuff at 60Hz if it won't run faster on max settings just for the eye candy
probably in any multiplayer game it makes some difference
@lyric knoll eyy mugen 5, same cooler i run 👍
I sed
Also
i looked at the bench mark thing
Upon closer inspection of the bar graph
i decided to ignore one outlier of 0 fps
so on average its close to like 215 on average
damn
i'm not sure how good the cheap IPS monitors even are, i haven't seen one before
i'm considering getting an old CRT monitor (with a signal adapter of course) because i read that they have superior resolution scaling and can thus run lower resolutions with very little difference in quality
catch me hitting engine framerate caps at max settings by running at 480p lol
yeah since they don't have a set array of pixels like an LCD
exactly
the best ones are the ones that can go to super high res
so you can use that for desktop stuff, but still play games on like 480p
lol
Wait
yeah! only problem is uh. finding one.
yeah
My 1660 ti should be compatible with a 3600x, right
yeah it should be
are there high refresh CRTs?
1660 ti + 3600x for LoL
i saw ebay had a fair few crts available. not sure high refresh rate crts exist, though as long as they can pull framerates above like 45 we're all good
(at least, i am, because low standards lol)
my high school computer lab had like one 32-40" CRT that was like 4k resolution, it was amazing
no way, i didn't think they got above like 720p
check this one, 1440p 80Hz https://www.cnet.com/products/sony-gdm-fw900/
Holy
they sell for $1000-2000 on ebay lol
i'm not finding on like the one my computer lab had
maybe it was a TV or something
hmm no a TV would have had component and not worked with a computer
that is pretty bougie
also the resolution wasn't 4K if it was a CRT
those don't exist
it was probably standard 480i/480p and you thought it was really nice resolution because it was the best looking TV you'd seen
we had these monochrome composite monitors for our apple IIe computers when i was in school
play like oregon trail and number munchers and math blaster in glorious glowing-green phosphor monochrome
it was okay because it acted like a black and white TV
Interesting
it showed shades instead of colors
On second thought
thats a drastic change in tech
thats pretty cool
Ah
We use computers to look up Quizlets for quiz/test answers now a days
lol
the worst was when in junior high all they wanted to let us do on computers was typing tutor
it was definitely more than 1000 pixels tall, idk though
damn
it was 4:3
oh
thats cool
i got a question though
With my build
can i always add on a Saumsung 970 NVMe 500 gb or Samsung 970 Plus NVMe 500 gb
i dont know why i would need to
but yeah
you mean for your boot drive?
it's easier if you start with the boot drive first, but i just moved from a SATA SSD to an M.2 NVMe SSD no problem with Samsung's data migration software
i've heard of other people having problems moving to an M.2 drive though
970 plus is a faster drive
And then add on a 970 plus
Im saying
can i use both SSD drivers at once
Like im collecting infinity stones
you'd want to move windows to the 970 when you put it in since it's faster, but yeah you'd be able to use both
of course you can use both SSDs at once
and yeah you'd want most of everything on the 970
as much as you can
personally i'd get the 970 evo now and add a storage drive later
Too late
The 860 1tb is en route
I will think about the 970 layers
Later
I dont need it right now
i'm getting a 2TB mushkin pilot
yeah, i went from a WD blue to a 970 personally
Hmm
and now use the WD as storage
the mushkin pilot is slow
Ill add on the 970 later on
SSDs are almost equal in cost to HDDs now, crazy
yes
at least on the low capacity end
past like 1tb the HDDs start to look way more attractive
you'd want to clone your drive to the 970, and then yeah go into bios and tell it to boot from the 970
then once you boot to the 970 you could reformat your other drive
Sounds complicated
yeah
hope the guy building my pc knows what hes doing
lol
¯_(ツ)_/¯
All of this just to play like 4 games
jesus
5
I cant forget about roblox
😴
you could just forget about NVMe drives and keep adding cheap SATA drives and your life will be simpler
Ah yes
Another 860 to my collection
Or the sata pro thing
i could use that
From samssunf
sata pro?
Holdd on
860 Pro sata ssd
512 gb
By samsung
waitnvm
thats a down grade
the sata pro is trash
Mind as well stick with 860 Evo
or just throw another one of these in whenever you need more storage https://www.newegg.com/western-digital-blue-1tb/p/N82E16820250092
yeah the m.2 is just less work to install since there's no cables
Okay fair enough
Very fair
But how complicated
would it be
if i got a 970
like would it take a whole
while
to confogure
configure
i mean you could just have it as a 2nd drive but then you'd be wasting the speed if you didn't use it as a boot drive
with my 860
Ah
So would it be better to install the 970 first
then have the 860 2nd
So the 970 would boot
and the 860 would just be the wing man
that would be the simplest
but you can move to the 970 when you get it, that's what i did
it's just more complicated
lol
Reason: Bad word usage
Well shoot
it's your life, live it how you want :p
I probably shouldve just gotten the regular 970
I mean
i will gladly take tips
i just
Am stupid
i need reasons why to do or not to
do
you could drop 2 RGB fans and get the 970 now
you're only putting a 1660 in there it's not that much heat
oh
2 RGB fans in front, put the stock ones in back/top or something
Maybe
i could do that
But ot be fair
im not assembling this till like January
tbh
for all the parts to come in
and just overall me trying to work
Hmm
Hey keegan
i really appreciate the help
nad the tips
but idk
i like this plan weve constructed
via my pc part link
im most likely gonna stick with it
i just have to allot the money now
thanks Keegan, will do
The mobos for the new Ryzen CPUs are so pricey. Anyone know when cheaper boards are coming out?
$100-150 is pricey?
More like 175 minimum.
First of all, you do not need the thermal paste because the cpu comes with it
Second, your should probably get the 3600x instead of the 2700x
@little osprey
You also should get 16 ram but at a 3600 instead of 3000
i looked into that the 3600 is nearly double
the cpu not the ram
i looked into ram speeds and the difference is negligible for the price jump
i can make up for the lost fps by using all four ram slots somehow that increases performance
i guess it would be quad channel idk
@little osprey Ryzen likes fast ram so instead of 32 your should get 16 but faster
16 3600 ram is cheaper than 32 3000 ram
@little osprey Samsung is overpriced. Don't get them unless for Pro or 4tb QVO SSD cuz those are the only worth purchases. For NVMe go Sabrent Rocket and SATA go SunBow x3
^ and on saw the rocket is a hella good deal
Hey im about to put so money down on a gaming pc I wanted opinions on my build and see if I should just go for the 2080ti or 2070 super
for 1080p 144hz?
Yeah, I am a csgo player mainly maybe a little siege but just really csgo I will also be streaming with it
A 2080 ti is overkill for 1080p, but if you changed some stuff like this, you could run 1440p and it’d look sharper
Okay so I wouldnt need the extra fans? also what would you recommend for a second monitor
also what GPU does with it?
also this might sound crazy but what if i wanted to do a 4 monitor setup dont ask me why lol
does it matter which SATA you plug your hard drive into?
Not really, im not sure what the differences would be but my m.2 was gonna be my main i was maybe even planning to get a 2tb Samsung m.2
Okay, lets do this then lets build a 1250 to 1500 dollar pc and see what happens
@little osprey dont get trident z ram if your worried about cost.. it's super overpriced
Sata port can matter, e.g. chipset ports vs asmedia controller ports.
okay
hmm
What if I did a like a i5-76k with a 1660ti?
Most modern mobo have at least 4 chipset sata, often more, z390 has 6. Z390 dark has 6 chipset + 2 more on an asmedia controller iirc.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gZDh7T @little osprey @limpid merlin
what about this?
If your streaming too I'd say go r5 3500, dont get that samsung nvme you'll never notice the extra speed it gives over a $100ish nvme, dont get windows liscense buy one on ebay or use unactivated
ok
With that money you should be able to get something like a 5700, 5700xt, or 2070s
So would it be possible to get a steady 144hz on it? only game i play is csgo
whats nvme?
And drop the windows liscense
Buy one off ebay for like $5 or just run unactivated
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Dpfv4n
I'd go with this
(Might want to change the 660p to a different nvme as I've heard meh things about it)
whats the 660?
The ssd
ok
Idk what exactly is bad with it but I remember seeing a couple people her saying not to go with it
^
thats what I got
@limpid merlin who's cheaper
what would be a good gaming monitor that not to expensive but 144hz and 1ms
Go AMD
Samsung SSDs are overpriced
CXM is worse than CX due to fan/coil whine. Get CX
Dont always look for 1ms monitors, that is usually not the real response time. On top of that no human has 1ms or close response times
But you can usually find 1080p 144hz monitors for like $150
ok
I'd say just use my parts list as it has a case with better airflow, and the psu has more protections
@cursive wharf whats a good m.2 then?
Inwin PSU has a misconfigured multi rail pretty sure
Wasn't a super amazing PSU is what I remember when looking at it
@little osprey Sabrent Rocket, 1tb for $120 is the only price I remember off the top of my head
Better than 660p due to cache
Alright
Eh, $80 gets you 1tb SATA SSD last I checked
Which unless you need NVMe might as well SATA
okay, so 1250 for that I have about 400 for my monitors and desk> recommendations? I would like a duel monitor setup
Also note, AIOs are generally worse or the same in noise normalized perf compared to good air coolers
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MwW9TW/western-digital-internal-hard-drive-wd10ezex
does anyone know if this drive is SATA 2 OR SATA 3?
SATA 3
sata 3
would you pay 250$ for a b350 m gaming pro mother board, Ryzen 5 1500x, apevia case wd black hdd 1tb
so it would be 1500 instead?
its a 1500 x
im remodeling my whole room so I am on a budget for a new pc and room I am planning to use around 2k for it all
the pc
full pc setup
if you lived near a microcenter, you could get a 2600+b450+1tb hdd, but its not a bad deal but i bet you could find a better one if you looked longer @sleek cradle
puddles gets it. 1ms on the box is like 95w on the 9900k box
I am 30 minutes from a micro center
would it be worth it to go check it out
i got aa good pc but i need to sell my other one and idk how much i should sell it for
yes
@little osprey
What is it?
I just need to be able to play csgo at 144hz and able to stream at the same time
they have like every comp-uter part ever
here's 2600 bundles at microcenter rn @little osprey https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?N=0&NTX=&NR=&filterProperty=&NTT=ryzen+2600&NTK=all&page=1&sortby=pricelow&SortNow=Go
I wont be playing at 1920x1080
csgo is the easiest game to run you should be fine with anything abbove like a gtx 1060
you could probably get a 2600+motherboard+1tb ssd for $250
I had a 1060 but it would just freeze randomly i was told it might of been due to it maybe being a bad gpu or motherboard
Ill go to micro center and check it out
here's what i'd suggest
for the same price, you could get a newer cpu with 6c/12t instead of 4c/8t and motherboard, and a much faster 1tb drive
this cable stuff is so confusing
so you want the highest pcie you can get if you've got it?
@little osprey it's not just that the monitor isnt true 1ms...literally no person on earth has fast enough reaction times to even need that
not about reaction time alone. Pixel response time can benefit from 1ms true grey to grey / near 1000hz scan rate in some uses. But I'm sure the limit is out there somewhere.
You're right though, 1ms out of the 150-250 ms reaction time typically seen is tiny.
Sata power left
sata power/sata data
Sata data right
You motherboard or psu should have the data data and the psu should've had sata power
do i need a secure connect cable to connect that or does it just come with the psu?
because isn't that not a normal SATA connection?
or is it actually just that 8 pin connector off to the side there?
sata power is the 15 pin connector on the far left and the sata data in the 7 pin to the right of that...the 8 pins on the far left are jumpers and aren't needed
@old charm
So basically, I’m building myself a new PC this Christmas with these specs:
R7 3800X (stock cooler)
2070 Super
And my case is an NZXT H510. I don’t have the budget for any other fans than the stock case fans, and I’m really concerned about the thermals; will there be anything I can do to cool it down?
the h series doesn't really have anything that can improve stock a lot, thermals aren't the best but it doesn't choke the pc components
Sponsor: Snag an OEM Windows 10 Pro key and use offer code "SStudio" for 18% off: http://bit.ly/2IXdKda
The NZXT H500 sports a slightly confusing airflow profile. At first glance, you'd think it was a "hotbox." Our testing confirms that this is not the case (no pun intended)...
so I'm just gonna pay someone to do the wiring for me lolz
I'm too scared of frying anything
they even had a $700 pc in there that someone wired wrong and subseuquetnly fried
yikes
Rate my list for a $860 ish PC
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700
Motherboard: MSI B450 Tomohawk
Ram: Corsair Vengence LPX 16 gb (2 x 8gb) DDR4 3000
SSD: Samsung Evo 500gb M.2
GPU: raedon Rx 5700 8gb
Case: Thermaltake V200 RGB ATX mid tower
PSU: EVGA 500 BQ
TRUEEUEUUEEUEU
helping someone make a super low budget pc and guess what
they bought a cpu cooler, instead of saving the cash by sticking with the stock cooler
^ dats me
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
Team T-Force Vulcan Z 16 (2x8 GB) DDR4 3200
EVGA 500 W1 80+ White 500W Power Supply
XFX Radeon RX 570 DirectX 12 RX-570P8DFD6 8GB 256-bite DDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossfireX Support Video Card
Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB 3.5 Internal Hard Drive
Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD
MSI Performance Gaming AMD X470 Ryzen 2 AMD4 DDR4
i'd go with the b450 tomahawk max, and a cheaper nvme drive like the sabrent rocket
I dont like that ram
whats wrong with it?
I have it and it isn't stable at 3200mhz
https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820231941? heres a kit i found thats looks solid
and pretty cheap
yea thats good
Is the tomahawk still compatible with the Rx570? I already bought it so I’d rather not have to change the graphics card but I can still change the motherboard
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/quinnhaygood/saved/#view=HmbFGX wanted to know if anyone could give me input on this
Hello again Bekora lol. Still a little concerned about my idle temps. Wondering if my fan setup would affect anything. I have my rad fans blowing in, a fan on top blowing in, and a fan at the back blowing out. Should I change the top fan to blow out as well?
Yes
Wish I had money for a decent build
Hey guys
Threw together my current machine for grins and giggles
Had no idea what I had into it lol
Now hovering around 36c idle :P
Better eh?
pbo on or off?
I turned it back on. Was off for a bit
I turn pbo off, set to 4.3ghz, volts 1.3 and I get nice steady temps
and a lot lower temps all around
but if I go auto everything, things get weird

Yeah, this is my cpu-z bench. I'm comfortable with the results. I tried OCing my RAM, but the "fast" settings that the Ryzen DRAM Calculator give gives errors in memtest
https://valid.x86.fr/clqgir
live near a microcenter @sand kayak ?
b350m is iffy
? Idk what that is
That's pretty much the price of the parts buying new right now
$100 GPU, $80 CPU, $60 mobo
Not really a deal
heres a much better build for less with those parts, if has a case and psu it would be a better deal
A full PC with those specs could be made for $550 new, except GPU would be 1650S
pretty sure at least
1650 SUper
Yes
It’s good for the price?
What’s the price
No Mobo, CPU RAM or GPU
Sorry wasn’t on the pic
So
personally I dont like the build. Its hard to expand a build in a mini itx case
350m board means limited upgrade path
I need a 800 dollar build that works for csgo and streaming! I am wanting to stream csgo a lot! If someone could help me that would be awesome p.s. rgb is fire
Yes that's what I was thinking
redrum is on letgo
1st gen ryzen is gonna be slow
Ok bet
It is only $450 but yeah the one nuclear nachos recommended is better
So I found a 1080ti on letgo for 90 dollars it said it was used for mining should I get it
for 90 bucks its probably broke
yeah true
if its even real
Yeah mining takes a toll on a GPU
Okay this is really helping because I have never used a gaming PC or had one but I want to get one so I can stream and I don't want to spend more than 800 I also would like to have the accessories that come with it monitor keyboard mouse I have the headset
@sand kayak smells like a bad PSU
Seasonic 80+ bronze
probably M12 or S12 Seasonic PSU, which is bad
no, not really
CPU overpriced, mobo is probably overpriced (if it had a price), RAM overpriced, GPU overpriced, PSU is bad
From June of 2018?
Alright
pretty sure an AMD build would've been better option even at that point. Apart from that tho, it's decent for a build at that time
also RX580 wouldve been cheaper as well
What is the best price per performance processor?
My specs in a year 32 gigs of ddr4 3200 ram, 5700 xt and a 3700
If the job promises tbh e money as advertised
I will begood
Hello everyone i am wondering what kind of monitor would be good enough for me to buy but i’m not really sure what to choose since my father built this pc so i’m not sure what will go best with the build he decided to go for. It’s all in spanish so i will try my best to write down what it’s trying to say
Type of adapter (assuming that’s the graphics card) : NVIDA GeForce GTC 1070
Information of the adapter~
Type of chip: GeForce GTX 1070
Type of DAC: Integrated RAMDAC
Information of the BIOS: Version86.4.50.0.63
I’m not sure what any of this means 😅
either like 144 hz 1080p for high settings and high refreshrate. or a 1440p for medium/high settings with 60-90 fps depending on the game
Would an processor Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-5820K cpu would be good with a 144hz 1080p?
would CyberPowerPC - Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - 8GB Memory - AMD Radeon RX 580 - 2TB HDD + 240GB SSD - Black be any good
guys?
Mentalgen?
what is it bad
really i just wanna okay stuff like minecraft tf2 skyrim hotline miani darksouls doom fnaf and like those types of games
What do you do if you built your pc but it doesn't yurn on in the case but does turn on out of your case, now you might think its the standoffs, oh boy how wrong you would be, the standoffs are in the right positions. And it still wont turn on.
Help pls
Heatsink bracket grounding issue?
Unplug everything when you put it in the case, including front panel USB, etc.
Plug stuff in until it doesn't work anymore
1st build fail
I hate myself
It doesn't work only everytime i put it in the case
Yea I have that case, it's nice for lower and mid tier build but if you upgrade the front fans are a little choked for higher end systems
It was fairly easy to build in
The cpu connecter wasn't easy
Mainly due to a weird cord though
And personal mistakes
Great budget case though
Yeah
It served me well for 2 years
Thinking of putting some fans in the top
Do you know which fans are exhaust and intake?
My sister is getting it with my hand me down system inmad e for her with my old parts
Cus I noticed the front fans have to get air from the side
All fans are both
What?
In take in the front and out in the top and back
Ok
Think I'll add an intake one for the top
Since I won't be water cooling anytime soon
You flip fans over and they blow the other direction XD
No, you fans blowing out on the top
Hot air rises, you want to push it out the top
Oh
So if I'm getting this right the fans I have are intake
And I don't have an exhaust
Idk
I plan to get another fan though
The pre installed fan in the back is also out
It's just the front fans are a bit choked on that case cause there is mostly metal behind then
Yeah, I figured the front fans would be choked
But like I said it's fine for lower end systems
I plan on running a 1650 super and 2200g so it'll be fine
It worked for my 3700X and Radeon VII, they were still at 78C
Is 78 not bad?
It's high but not really dangerous
Sorry I'm fairly new
Ryo are you going to build your bartop arcade now lol
No XD
Didn't you watch the easy video?
Nope, I just thought it was cool to sit next to one at a lan
Well when i build one i am going to use a 27" LCD display and have sliders on the side to include 2 more joysticks (with 3 buttons only) to latch on
majority of 4 player action games tend to only use 2 to 3 buttons
The most annoying thing about my new case is there is no space for any size RAD anywhere cause there would be no clearance for it
So I couldn't get an AIO even if I wanted
Guess that's what I get for picking up a smaller mid tower lol
Love my case i have room for a 240mm rad lol
The CPU power is pinched by my top case fan, there is no clearance at all XD
I also keep thinking "where's my side panel" ... Cause I'm a dork and not used to glass
This is why i said my case has room for a 240mm rad https://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/item/11/147/11-147-298/b7-03_050619.jpg
Can I get your guys opinion on a build I'm doing. I didn't really have much time to research this. Parts are ordered so I'm kind of committed but I could always get something else coming
No clue just an image i took from newegg
xD it is
my GPU is thicc lol
@tropic dagger go ahead, many people here like to help with builds
Also i am not joking https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-gtx-1660-06g-p4-1161-kr/p/N82E16814487437
max temps i get is 60c on load
Nice
I still get like 75/76 on extreme cases, but overall my temps are WAY lower with the better airflow in the new case
If you have had your GPU for a long time it might be time to change the thermal paste so you would be more in the 60's
3600x, msi5700, msi mpg x570, samsung 970m2 3x4, corsair rmx870 ps, liam li pc011 case
One thing i learned recently with Asus cards is they use really cheap paste
My Asus card is my old one, already changed the paste, but my current card is a VII and they never need new paste cause they come with a graphite pad
Wait you're using the jet engine Radeon VII?
@tropic dagger you don't really need an X570 board for a 3600X, B550 will work if you wanna save a bit
MSI B450 Max boards
@latent bronze yep, but it's default thermal solution is actually pretty good
Yea B450 boards to save even more money
ok I was talked out of the 3700 that was after I had selected that board
🤔 what will you be doing?
Cause a 3700 is a nice CPU, but definitely overkill for average use
kids gaming but wanted to future proof some. going to high school next year no idea what he will get into
I only got one cause occasionally I have actual use cases for it
Ah, right then, no need for a 3700
so where is money best spent for gaming, vc I assume. is cpu and chipset not near as important
3950X would be overkill
No gaming(almost) or high school work will ever need a 3700
CPU is important for gaming, but 8 cores is over kill
b450/b470 will give you lot of option already
Oh i forgot to ask
ok so I spent an extra 100 for the 570 is there anything to be gained by it or should I order a differnt board and return it
How long do rbg fans last
@tropic dagger if you already have the board don't worry about it
Anything Zen+ and above is future proofing
i think he means on his cart
no mention about the 5700 I assume msi makes decent cards
It's a decent card, no arguments or complaints about it
What RAM are you getting?
Or already got
3 120 corsair fans ok if not oc?
recently, there are alot of budget (but latest parts) videos. you can check them out for more reference.
16G corasir 3200
so what does a person gain by say going with the 3700 and 4000 ram and etc
it would have been about 400 more to max everything out from the ram and ssd. would the gaming be perceptively better or just allow you have more going on in the background while playing at highest settings
A 3700 or 3700X is more for heavy work loads like 3D modeling/rendering, Video Editing, High quality streaming, some forms of programming
so i could have gotten by with much less
Yes
Damn Im into this thing for about 1700
If you already have the parts don't worry it will last you for years
just placed order with new egg
I hope he appreciates it
Sounds like it's future proofed for getting into any hobbies or careers for such workloads
ok one last thing just so Ill know are there better cpu for gaming or just ones that are good enough for gaming
Way better way to thing about it
The CPUs for gaming are in a weird spot at the moment. It used to be that 4c/4t was enough but that's been less the case so now most tech outlets are recommending Ryzen 5 with 6c/12t, curent i5s are a bit cheaper but are only 6c/6t and you usually need to buy a cooler for them anyway.
So for the value and the gaming performance Ryzen 5 is overkill but the best value anyway
ok so I wasnt too far off the deep end
The people who went off the deep end are AMD, pushing massive performance and great value over the last few years XD
It's the best time to build a PC in years
alright thanks guys. Time for bed
Well take care
What's the smallest case on newegg? That isn't the Matrexx 30?
Look up mATX cases
G.Skill is giving away 16GB 3600MHz Trident Z Neo
there is also some ITX cases that can fit a mATX board
8x2
meh
@thorn prism what form factor?
That's important cause too small and depending on the motherboard stuff won't fit
Anything similar?
DIYPC M28 is about as small as actual mid towers get, but that's larger
And no nothing smaller without going into DTX and ITX form factors
MATX is pretty much just a shorter ATX with less PCIe so the cases are just a bit shorter from top to bottom
Usually
This is about as short as cases get from front to back, without removing the conventional HDD cage. Cause PSU, power cables, and HDDs all need to fit.
The only thing MATX can make smaller is the top to bottom and MAYBE the depth a bit
I Might go with the Q300l.
Sadly Micro ATX ia a bit limited
Cause you can just stick them in an ATX tower
And there isn't a massive size difference
i went with a mini-ITX form factor
but i'm using a regular mini-mini tower case to run it, so i'm not missing out on anything except PCIe slots on the motherboard
but i'm drastically reducing the size of the PC and making it lighter and easier to move around
it also looks cool as it's a define series case
how are WD Blue SSDs for boot drives?
either 2.5 or SATA m.2 cause they are the same price
yells at
m.2 is faster and apparently they have decent ratings
no, SATA m.2, not NVMe
SATA in the M.2 form factor still has the SATA limitation on speed
just a fancy ssd
people seems to like the WD blue SSDs well enough, but is it a good boot drive?
it's right at the top of streching the budget to $60 while it's on sale
I'm also willing to go 250GB
lay it on me, I have a heat spreader for NVMe to spare
my old EK NVMe heat spreader XD
that is a great ssd
@eager chasm yes the m.2 SSD wwd blue is a great drive only 10mb slower than a 860evo. It's worth the money I got mine for 60 bucks. My buddy has his has a boot drive and absolutely loves it I have it in my build for games
I might go for the more expensive, slower but larger capacity, my sister will like the size more than the speed
We both have the 500gb version
@eager chasm that last sentence by itself is hilarious 😂

thanks for pointing that out about me talking about my sister... I need brain bleach now
😂😂ey man you said it not me. That's some Alabama stuff right there
I think it's bc I never check announcements
I'm never on discord so I have notifications off for it bc I just call friends
On mobile it gets annoying because any ping from anywhere shows up at all times at the top left with a red bubble
PC isn't that annoying
What’s the 8 pin thing to the right of hard drive Sata ports
But sata already gives you power???
lemme see if I can find a better image
if I remember correctly
might be other way around
prob not what you're asking now that I read it again xD
8pin...?...
Just talking about the GPU?
@floral tree Did you mean to link a entire build or do did you mean to link just a GPU
@tranquil dust Look at what iambox sent
Curious about the 3700x temperatures. I just bought one for my new build but I've heard they run hot, I'm using a scythe mugen rev and not planning to OC it for a while, but I want to know if the temps will be generally stable and the mugen rev will be sufficient if I do decide to OC, or should I get a noctua
if you want to OC you'll need a better cooling solution.
I've got the 3700x and temps are a little weird, as far as jumping around.. but that is the PBO on.
if I turn it off and manually adjust the voltage it gets lower and idles out better.
But I should expect high temps on idle out of the box?
it'll probably be warmer than what you're used to, but it's completely normal for that cpu.
like the 1.45volts lol
example:
I sit between 30-40c idle, but also custom water loop
tied in with a gpu
I accidentally sent the PC part picker page for the GPU
Ok
what is PBO?
precision boost
and it just changes voltage for you dynamically?
its like an auto overclock in real time
awesome
you'd have to read up on it
i'll be using that when i get my 2600 set up
Precision Boost Overdrive (PBO) is a powerful new feature of the 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ CPUs.1 Much like traditional overclocking,
neat
i never knew about that when i had a terrible ryzen 3 2200G
would've given me some leverage
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ so can someone tell me if this is a good build please
you've gotta link the precise list
click the longer URL down there and right click and hit copy
that will just link my own build to me
thanks
sorry about that
may i adjust the build? i know of some better RAM option
it's $5 more or something
better quality, lower latency
i also stuck an M.2 SSD on there you may not want to keep, $20 more and 512GB instead of 480, and very fast by comparison to that sunbow you had
cool thanks
Isnt 512gb usually only 500gb usable?
is M.2 faster because it is connected straight to the motherboard or just because it is better hardware?
still more usable than 480GB
it's connected straight to the PCIe bus
so it can be much faster
ok
great for OS
I think the interface is better too
reg SSD for gaming, you'll never bottleneck an SSD on gaming
Unless you want to flex like 2 seconds faster load time
i'm being a complete butt and buying a 2TB NVMe drive
I'm going 1tb nvme 2tb hdd
i have a 3TB HD
which should be fine
i want stuff that is frequently accessed on the M.2 though
Ima primarily game w the m.2
high performance
Might but like footage n stuff on hdd
I can flex loading into the division 2 a few seconds faster than my friend >:)
there's nothing better than loading extremely fast into something
Isn't intel 660p qlc?
yeah
Oof
so is the sabrent rocket Q
Cheap ssd gives you cheap endurance
but the name makes it obvious
yeah
also oops my SSD is full
except like 20%
it's gonna slow way down
I'm still mad at myself for buying a 512gb SATA m.2 ssd
Its so bad
I was just told to get m.2 :p
is this good build:
Ryzen 7 1700x
Rx 580 8gb
16gb 3000mhz
no inland is cheap company terrible endurance
everything is telling me "you must spend all your money"
there is this mushkin pilot for $200 flat but this is not really the best time
anyway why not go for a ryzen 7 2700
also 3200MHz RAM to keep up with the infinity fabric
Nah, Inland makes a competitive $100 ish TLC with a phison E12 controller, great bargain. IIRC it's Micron NAND
That said, that market has narrow "best" pick margins, with sales dropping the EX920 near 100, my fav, the 970 pro 512 for $120, etc
@short laurel the ryzen 7 2700 is worse than the 1700x
@proud helm ?
look up 2700 vs 1700x
Pretty sure Zen+ has IPC gains
1700x is slightly better
I don't trust userbenchmark after they changed it to be single core focused
clock speed 3.2ghz for 2700 while 1700x is 3.4
I need to look at it again but last time I checked, the boost for 2700 is 4.1ghz, boost for 1700x is like 3.5ghz
oh
well
well 2700 is more expensive for similar performance
id say 1700x is a better buy
I have a 2700
i have a 1700x
2700 is like 150 bucks, I think 1700x is more expensive
I'm not too sure but I think Zen+ might have IPC gains over Zen
2700 is 150$ rn, 1700x is 175$
yea its weird
well i got mine like a year ago and i saw that the 1700x was ceaper
yea i got hyper 212 evo
2700 comes with a good stock cooler
pc building is fun. I recently built a 1500 pc for a workstation for a business woman
their family rich
it was a ryzen 5 3600x
1050ti and 32gb ram
(I built myself a ~1800$ pc and I don't think I count as rich)
complete overkill of what shes doing but better than her previous all in one by 100x
no but like that same family i built a gaming pc thats 1000 for a 10 year old
who had that much money to spend
literal 10 year old
yea
ik
workstation
was more focused on cpu and ram
or no it was 1250 1500 including 4k monitor
i dont remembeer
Well I guess its okay...
dude
but I think you still could've gotten better for the price of 1050ti
it was 129.99
I just don't like any nvidia GPUs less than a 1650S in a semi-recent build
yea
AMD just dominates at lower price points
agreed
For used yes
uh no
for new i dk
both used and new
bruh someone called amd the android of gaming
lmaoooo
on youtube
Well for new i would still go for the GTX 1650 Super
i did lowest to highest for new GPU's only and there are these prices for the RX 580 https://i.gyazo.com/89f395e3bca8494376d8293a7d753f5b.png
pretty much the same price as the GTX 1650 Super and the 1650S out performs that
@latent bronze But like rx570 is like 120$
afaik nvidia has nothing that low that runs good
and also I do acknowledge 1650S being good-ish
If the 1650S does a lot better than the 580 i doubt buying a 570 would be any better
I mean for 20% less expensive
and like what 40% less performance?
afaik It was like 10-20% performance lost
10% is from the 580
That is battlefield is more attuned for AMD cards
570 has 10% more in deus ex
Far cry primal 570 loses like 4%
570 has 6% more in gear of war 4
570 loses 30% in gta
570 loses 60% in hitman 2
570 loses 70% in AC Odyssey
570 loses 14% in shadows of the tomb raider
570 loses <1% in Total war : war hammer
570 loses 15% in watch dogs 2
570 loses 20% in witcher 3
570 loses 20% in battlefront 2
You do know you're looking at averages as well right
1% and .1% lows the 570 does tend to stutter
?
That is the thing everyone looks at the average and not the 1% and .1% lows
I've been told the 570 stutters were due to software and can be fixed
For an example Deus Ex MD could have like 10 frames more but if the lows are hitting the 20's and 30's that isn't really good cause it would be a stuttery mess
The thing i also found out for Deus EX MD for AMD cards you have to play it on a certain build in order for it not to freeze and crash
then looking at 1% lows
570 is 20% ahead
in battlefield V
570 is 6% behind in Jedi fallen order
570 is 26% behind in control
(I thought that game was for rtx but ok)
570 is 20% behind in far cry new dawn
570 looks below on the 1% and the average
SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 570 4GB GDDR5
ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER 4GB GDDR6
intel core i7-8700K
Games: 1080p
► 00:01 - Battlefield V
► 01:15 - Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
► 02:41 - Control
► 03:42 - Far Cry New Dawn
► 04:45 - World War Z
► 05:40 - Assassin's ...
and the reason why people only bench the 4gb model for the 570 is that is the more common one people would own or buy
That is benching rx570 4g

it is also time stamped
when you click on the video it starts the benchmark charts
The person you linked i don't trust because he doesn't even go in the settings
Nor does hardware unboxed lol
But at least he shows the GPU's for his video's
also I want to know how they benchmark the cards bc that footage isn't the in-game benchmark afaik
in regards he is more of a trusted source
I trust the guy I linked a bit better just because of the overlay
I'd rather watch the entire benchmark
The way they benchmark it is they do more than one run per card and then tally up the averages with the 1%
Also the game could play one way in a video and play out a lot different for you if you are also using a better CPU
I don't know either's benchmarking methods enough to trust either
i7 8700k is all you need afaik
This is also why i benchmark my own games cause there are moments i could have better results than a video i watched
It's all relative
I'd rather go with like a 120$ card that can do okay against a 150$ card
Id rather go for the card that will last longer
which is the 1650S
This is also why you would see on ebay more and more 570's and 580's being sold cause people are going for the 5700/5700XT's instead
yes i know you are talking new but i am also saying the reason why people are also not buying them new and getting rid of them for used
cause really no one knows how long AMD will keep on supporting those GPU's for
Well AMD and Nvidia after a certain series they will drop support so you can still play games just it wont play that well enough
You can have a 780 Ti and a 1060 side by side and the performance could be the same on paper but when there is no more supporting drivers for the 780 Ti the 1060 would perform better
I would believe that AMD will keep drivers up for enough time as neccessary
its not like 570 is a 6 year old card
Well it is going to be a 3 year old card soon
RX 570 came out in 2017
im pretty sure 7 year old cards are getting integer scaling
