Yup
itll subside as part of my everyday life
Well, a car will do the same thing lol
True
to be honest lol
But car also requires extra money for gas, insurance, repairs, etc
Thats true.
so that has to be factored in. If the car can't be afforded from that aspect, mebbe a PC now and a car later
I agree with that
Lots to think about
Oh not really. Someday you'll wish you were in college again
Thank you though. I think i really needed to talk this out logically
Welcome!
Damn
I can see that. I felt the same way leaving highschool
And thank you man, I appreciate it.
Hmm
Welcome!
I mean, with Uber, Lyft, Jump Bikes, Lime bikes
public transport
getting around is cheap in a college town
Cars can be expensive, parking, fuel, insurance, repairs, etc
but FREEDOM
heh
Thats true yeah
but itll be alright
with my current environment
i can get around via car pooling
The other option is to find a slightly used PC on the secondary market
Thats true
lol
Okay lemme check it out
i5 8400 with mobo for $160
10900X ... Intel... what are you doing...
makiing bigger numbers to sound better lol
Im no longer following
X is usually a protocol used by Linux
Every time I see X I think slightly more performance for a lot more dollars
i agree bek
sure hsbdbmsndn
Anyways
we kinda deviated from the original convo
So uh
what kind of cooling
You said the mugen 5
ya
when I see 3700X i think, "oooo world's fanciest stock cooler"
with RGB fans of your choice
I mean get the cooler, and since it's not RGB, get your RGB fans for it
Take the stock fans off and put RGB fans on
oh
They're just 120mm fans
Like literally
yes
unscrew then screw in Rbg fans
I think they clip on and off but yeah
Ah same idea
Prism is the best stock cooler, change my mind.
It's a good stock cooler that is outperformed by basic aftermarket options, yes
Yesa
Would a 500 gb ssd be good enough for a mid end gaming pc?
you had a Hyper 212 on your list though
LOL
the spire is enough for it at stock if you want to use it
Well heck, if you didn't want the 212 just use the spire
Yeah, just don't try and overclock with it
since 3rd gen Ryzen run cooler than the 2nd gen the stock coolers are even better on them
too complicated for me
SO yeet the 212 and the Mugen lol
Personal experience with the stock Prism. It's OK. And just OK.
okay so ngl
personal experience with the prism, it's amazing keeps my boost up at all times even under load
MIne wouldn't do that, although I got mine before the ABBA update which helped with temps
Remember that noise rating only applies with the fans installed
That will change if you change the fans
i'm also using really good paste with good thermal conduction
cause screw stock paste
spire is fine
It's fine unless you're going to overclock
the older copper core spire would be better, but non-copper core is fine
but still good enough
🤔 I think I know why my new case has better temps, the front fans are FAR less obstructed
much more fresh air getting in
anywhere between 2 and 15 C better temps XD
what?
Alright so
inside the Case, The Mobo, gpu, cpu, ram will be black
Outside of the case is white
will it still work or nah
color is whatever you think looks good, no one can tell you how to color coordinate your PC, that's personal preference
again that's subjective mostly
Damn
some people will look at my all purple lighting and think WOW, some will think it's ugly
it's all subjective personal preference for looks, do what you like
(honestly if you think all purple lights are ugly, sure, OK boomer)

?
So basically I’m building a new PC this Xmas and I’m using the stock Prism cooler on my CPU because I heard it you don’t OC the thermals are fine. I’m also getting the NZXT H510 case and I just hear the thermals are so bad that it’s good to get an AIO but I don’t have the budget for it
Any tips
3800x
AH
I got it when it was going for a better price tHan even the 3700x
I got it for 250
I'd consider a different case than the 510
what do you guys think about that build
I already have it @muted patio
with a good paste the Prism is fine, but case airflow is VERY important
^ that too
@eager chasm yeah I know and the Case I got comes with 2 stock fans
But I can’t buy any other fans
why
Fans are cheap. Like, $5 each?
@muted patio like literally I have no more budget
if you aren't rendering 1 hour videos sure
and I'd go 3200 mhz on the ram if you can
welp I'm off to work, night
Oh, streaming. what gpu?
Well, you're going to be using NVENC right?
Yes
really with that CPU you could use Software encoding on the stream
That’s the setting right
Still, you really need to get 4 total case fans as soon as possible
Okay
because both of those make a lot of heat
Reason: Bad word usage
and you need to get rid of it
It's not lilke things will explode or die or burn
Aight
But it should be done, make sense?
@eager chasm purple is nice.
Shoot, you could even run with the side panel off for a while if things got hot
I can get my team to donate me money
so the ryzen 3600x is 4th gen but the mobo is only updated for gen 3
To be able to afford it
what do i do?
@soft walrus it’s 3rd gen
Ya, hence the 3 in 3600
4th gen Ryzen isn’t out
Ahahaha
It'll work but ideally you'd get an X570 board to take advantage of PCIE gen 4
Yeah, the B450 may not have the BIOS flashed for 3rd gen but it should
Yeah, those fans are fine
so i shouldnt worry about it?
whats a good $2000 pc build with a ryzen 9 3900x or an intel i9 9900k
I honestly can't comment about the motherboard
Tbh
I went X570
and for $150
I'd recommend the ASUS TUF Gaming X570
Literally no reason not to get X570 with a 3000 cpu
I got MSI X570
@muted patio idk how long it’ll be. Maybe I can find some temporary solution? Any ideas?
Which one would you recommend? NZXT H510 Elite ATX mid tower? Or the Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid tower?
How so
Oh, that's the 510 elite
Poor airflow though
True, but cant you just attach a fan on the top
What should i upgrade psu or storage?
So you have 2 fans going in 2 fans going out
Thats the front though
Ya. It's not enough
bummer
Heat rises, don't use the top for an intake
Its a sick case though
PSU or storage?
then how about using that fan on the top to push out air
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/dRJBq3
is that too much?
ok fair enough
So then lets talk about the Meshify c
I dont think it comes with any fans
One intake, one exhaust
But is that enougj
yeah 2 1500rpm 120mm fans
No, I'd add at least two more fans
One at the front and one at the top, maybe two front and one top
depends what you put in it, but i ended up with 5 fans in mine
so basically bought 4x140mm fans
i could probably get rid of one at the top, just have two front one top
Im eyeing the corsair H100i RBG Platinum Liqui-
the 5th one is just there for RGB really lol
Oh wait this is liquid
What should i upgrade first RAM or motherboard?
Wait isnt that the Jimmies have been rustled Gorilla @indigo thicket
yes
to cool off the liquid
Of course
the liquid just carries heat away from the CPU but you still have to cool the liquid back down to ambient in the radiator before it gets pumped back into the CPU
hey is the XFX Redeon RX 570 4GB RS XXX still good?
What are some good RBG cooling fans
Maybe the ones that come in packs
Waitttt
Do i need case fans or
Im sped
Ive been looking at cpu coolers instead of case coolers
wait what
Some coolers have fans pre-installed or just part of the cooler
Im still lost
okay
so
Wait
i could
theoretically use a pc cooler as a case fan
right
but why would i do thay
No I'm saying the fans on the coolers are usually the same as case fans
okay
If you want fans for your case just get a pack of the ones you want
I was about to do that
Most case fans are good enough, even the bargain find ones
The case comes with two. So at least two more for a total of 4
Personally I like 2 in the front, 2 in top, and 1 in back
But 1 in top works well too
Yay the computer at work seems too FINALLY have died
das lit
Personal opinion
im going with the meshofy
But the fact that i might get corsair rbg fans
Reason: Bad word usage
Actually, imma just ignore the fact that im cross branding
Brand matching it's stupid anyway XD
Yeah
itss gonna be impossible
i just dont have that type of money
I still cant decide though
Meshify C Tinted Tempered glass
RGB case fans might be my tax return buy
Hey doing taxes is nice when you get $1000 back lol
I guess
oh yeah
Im kinda tied
How much airflow do i want from these fans
Theres one by corsair, 24.8 dB, 43.25 CFM, and 600-1500 rpm
Or the other corsair one: 36 dB, 63 CFM, 2200 RPM
Both selections have 3 fans
and a controller for rbbg
rbg
You are over thinking the air flow XD
Even bargain bin fans are enough, trust me, I use them
It's more about the Case's airflow

right
Hi theo
meshify c wont fit a typical radiator + fans if your mobo has large VRMs
well top mounting
yes
Lol
Uh 2 adjustments: Yeah... Remove the 3600, and the coolmaster 212
I gotta get the new and updated link
meshify c is a beast at aircooling if you get great static pressure fans for the front.
anything with wide/large fin blades and little space inbetween
Noctua NH-P14 is the king, but fractal has a really good one too
Looking at my old case like 80% of the front fans are obstructed by metal and it only has some small cut outs for air flow
I should have upgraded my case long ago XD
Im too dumb for this. Sorry theo
i upgraded my case and case fans
And can u link me which ones Anni
if it looks like the left its fine
those are type you want to push air through small holes or filters
LL120 in your list are the same on my case i just showed you
but they are expensive
oh.
So uh
would i be fine with these fans then
And should i keep the GP-12 fans rhat come with the meshify c
yes
i mean.... if you have the money and a free usb slot on your internal motherboard to program them then yeah
https://www.newegg.com/fractal-design-fd-fan-dyn-gp14-bk-case-fan/p/N82E16835352019 for the record if you want more they're right here (just click 120mm for the ones you have)
Don't mind me I'll be over here with my with my rosewill black DC fans...
hahaha

at one point i had apevia fans in my case, that was years ago though when the fans were powered by molex connectors
corsair is so weird with their fans, they don't sell them as airflow or static pressure, but the black LL120s are 1500rpm fans up to 1.5mm-H2O and the white LL120s are 2200rpm fans up to 3mm-H2O pressure
yeah
it's too bad you can't find the NF-P12 anymore
the white ones are noisy
those were very pressure optimized
they push a LOTTTTTTTTTTT of air
damn those noctuas are hella efficient
brown and beige i always thought contributed to the overall appearance
2.61mm-H2O at only 1500rpm
it makes it look "premium" because it's associated with noctua
Despite having most of the bottom front blocked by the Drive cage it's still far better flow than my old one
Good night
Night
if only there were high performance fans that looked as good as corsair LL ones
how loud is 36 dB
loud af
BROO
bearable though
hmm
like laptop fan level noise i guess
I’m getting concerned so much rn
?
About my thermals with just the NZXT stock fans
https://www.newegg.com/p/1YF-000T-002H0 these are my favorite
@silver meteor if it's not over 85 it's probably fine for now
What temps are you getting?
Oh lol
Oh wait quick question
Ye
so you know how the corsair fans i was debating about
Amazing how much you can learn about air flow just swapping cases on a high end build

each one
Thats litt
https://www.newegg.com/noctua-nf-a14-pwm-case-fan/p/N82E16835608044 i will eventually buy two of these for the front of my case
well, also all 3
it's the same thing
the CFM just adds up
the static pressure is the same for each one
yeah basically
Damn... The work PC turned on... I hate using a Dell Optiplex 3020M
i don't actually know how they rate fans, because flow vs pressure is a curve, the more pressure you make a fan overcome the less flow it produces.
i have 2 now, i'll get some noctuas and have 3 later
3 LL120 RBG (43.25 CFM, 1.61mm) and 2 X2 GP-12 fans
does anyone know how they come up with the rating they give them?
1x140mm up front, 1x120mm in back
damn
Nice
it's an ITX case
What specs?
@dry tinsel
PC is not built yet
meshify can fit up to 240 on top, or 280/360 in front
you have to remove a panel to get 360mm of fans in the front though
yeah
Okay
Wait so the case sayss that i can fit up to 7
Idk how
1 in the back, 3 front, 2-3 top?
you can take the drive bay out to put one on the bottom
But is that recommended
7 would be 3 in front, 1 on bottom, 2 on top, 1 in back
nah i tried the one on bottom it sucks
i see
Reason: Bad word usage
it just messed with the flow of the front fans
and it couldn't get any air in the bottom anyway
i have it set to 0rpm now and i get the same temps when running benchmarks as with it at 800rpm, and at full speed i actually get higher temps
i see
so it's pointless and removes your 3.5" bays
I could get a 3rd front fan if I didn't have to have a Blu-ray in my machine
i think 3 front might be ideal, since it feeds the GPU more fresh air
but it may be a little uglier without that panel covering the hard drive bays
if you want to keep that panel on then go 2x140 in the front
Noooo
2 in and 3 out is better than 3 in 2 out
You know damn well i dont know how to configure that lmaidbsjdb
Negative pressure let's air come on the back for the GPU
2 font, 2 top, 1 back :)
but isn't the conventional wisdom positive pressure + airflow for cooling
FWIW i currently have 2x 140 in front, 2x140 on top, and 1x120 in back for slight negative pressure
nah negative pressure is better for cooling but dustier
i'll probably go 2x140 in front, 1x120 in back (i can buy one fractal design fan and get that) and then get a 240mm radiator up top
Negative pressure is common for letting the GPU get some extra air from any holes near the PCIe
well, depending on the case i guess
but yeah the meshify has a big hole next to the GPU so it pulls air in there when you have negative pressure
No
no you can use 120mm, 140mm are just quieter
2 front, 2 top, and 1 back will be slightly better than 3 front 1 top, and 1 back
slightly better
Hit air also rises so evacuating it more efficiently is good
2xLL140 and an RGB 240mm cooler?
He's going with air cooling
2 ll140 in front
No aio
and uh
oh
oh that was anni, got it
Thermaltake Riing Plus 14 Rbg TT premium Edition (5 fan pack) 63.19 cfm 140mm fans
they have 1.53mm of Static pressure
Two 140 Front, Two 140 Top, One 140 Back
does that work
do you need all RGB fans? or are you alright with the top ones not being RGB?
it won't fit a 140 in back
i missed which cooler you were using, stock?
You might be OVER thinking fans and cooling
Overthinking is my middle name
Cause I'm such a cheap pleb I would just throw 5 bargain bin DC fans in it
audbbsbd
😂
if you really want to overthink it make sure you consider where and how many fan headers you have
I buy two dual packs for 140mm
So i slap two 140 front
slap two 140 top
use the X2 GP12 for back
I just use fan header Y splitters
Guys is it bad if ur fans are only taking air in?
Yes
that works as long as you don't mind no RGB on the back fan 😛
Ouf
You want some in and some out
I have all 6 fans going in only
You flip them around
Oki doki
You take it out and flip it over
What should i flip
the whole tower
The front panel or the top
The top and back should be the outs
Oki doki

How does one get case fans sooo wrong lol
😴
Probably a first timer
oh with corsair only buy one multi-fan pack since they come with the RGB controller @gentle bay unless there's no price difference
Wait wait
@eager chasm
But realizing fans can be flipped over is the most basic XD
What do i upgrade first motherboard or ram?
the lighting node is an RGB controller @gentle bay
fan control comes from your mobo
There are fan controllers
yeah you need one for the RGB
which one lmao
@eager chasm
there's only a lighting node
Mobo or ram?
a fan controller?
cause im looking at the HD series too
@jaunty karma MB
im so confused
oh, idk anything about the HD series one
i guess it comes with a different RGB controller
Yeah
the LL series doesnt have one
it only has a Node
so where do i get controller
the LL multi-pack has an RGB ccontroller called the lighting node
lol
Reason: Bad word usage
corsair's product line is so confusing
so it comes with the LIGHTNING NODE PRO
Yes
The lightning node pro is the controller then ?
yeah, it controls the RGB lights
the fan PWM control comes from the motherboard
lets run it back
so you need enough PWM headers or to use splitters
4 pin fan headers
lol
oh jeez
sorry i keep going further down the rabbit hole
Keegan there are also fan controller hubs
yeah corsair sells one that does both RGB and fans called the commander pro
or you can get other fan controllers
what the hell
the corsair one is hella overpriced
why is this so confusing
cause you wanted RGB
I just want quality rbg fans
Cause you made it more confusing
Which one?
RGB fans have two cables, one for RGB, one for the fan
Personally I would use splitters and Daisy chains and plug everything into the the MB
mobo
@indigo thicket my rgb fans need only one
i dont know what that means @eager chasm
@jaunty karma cause yours aren't configureable
😄
Anyways
should i get rgb even tho im puttin my pc on the floor
they come with the node
letss run this back
One last damn time
Two 140 front
two 140 top
1 20 back
yeah that probably makes the most sense
@jaunty nacelle do whatever makes you happy (and can afford)
i was just saying when you buy the 140s, if you get LL fans, then buy an LL140 2 pack, and 2x LL140 single packs, unless it's the same price to get 2 of the 2 packs
Oh
since you only need one controller and it might be cheaper to buy single packs
lol
Are Team Elite Delta TUF RGB 16GB 2x8 3200MHz worth it?
well then
There around 80 usd
use the $8 saved to get some fan splitters then unless your mobo has 4 chassis fan headers @gentle bay
What splitters
When I get some RGB fans I might get addressable ones that can Daisy chain and run them off my MB header
Splitters, they turn 1 plug into 2
like tehse https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16812162026
I use those on both my builds
oh wait no i cant

what does this even do keeegan
3 fans in the front panel is in
So how many will i need
if i buy 4 140 fans
let me check how many fan headers your board has
@gentle bay depends on the number of headers on your MB
Most MB only have 3 fan headers
Reason: Bad word usage
Reason: Too many infractions
RIP
wait what
Poor Keegan XD
i was just using bad words to express my surprise that that mottherboard has a corsair RGB header on it
okay, there's a SYS_FAN1 at the top, and 3 other SYS_FAN headers at the bottom fo the board
Headers are the things you plug fans into
i'd actually get 2x these 1 to 3 splitters https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16812162059

@gentle bay
then plug all 3 exhaust fans(top and back) into one splitter, and plug that into SYS_FAN1
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2jqNzN someone was curious about my build, this is what it's going to be after about six months
and then plug the two intake fans into another splitter and plug into SYS_FAN2
slow morphing and such
actually you don't need a 2nd splitter
and after six months i'll have to buy a zen2 chip because zen3 will knock the prices down
just the 1 for the exhaust fans
i'm gonna need a 5-way splitter when i get that corsair H100i
oh wait the back fan is going to be voltage control
3 fans in my case, and then the cooler
lol
This is complicated
Very
fock
yay i can say fock
So two 140 top, two 140 Front
I think i will stick with that
Whats the other word for a male chicken
stop that now
Coco puffs
okay, you're going to get 4x LL140 fans, one fan splitter, and then plug the back fan into SYS_FAN1, the two top fans into the splitter and then into SYS_FAN2, and then the two front fans go into SYS_FAN3 and SYS_FAN4 (look in your motherboard manual for locations)
Question
one fan splitter
the LLs have hella long cables so they should reach the bottom
What are the pros and cons of water cooling?
i c
you can get two splitters if you really want to be safe, but yeah one is enough
water is wet @jaunty karma
i dont recognize you as my son
It never will be
There is no VRM airflow in water cooling
if you want to plug the two front fans into the same header
Whats the difference of water cooling and fan cooling/heatsink?
does it make a difference
or if something isn't long enough you can use the splitter as an extension
If i were to do that
probably not
it won't hurt to have two
these ones are stupid cheap rn https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16812119873
what's your currency? I am only curious because I can learn about a new currency
yeah i didn't see a 2 pack on newegg right now
I have some Philippine money
Am i blind i cant see the difference
@jaunty karma bottom one is shorter
okay so
"(
keegan
I just literally boguht the other ones
Fock
its okay
thats out of the way
thats cool
Okay
i think i finalized this build
only thing tto worey about is my monitor
My build sucks
Im jealous
Ik

im lowkey sad im spending this much
My pc build is just 600$
And that is completely fine
i just have a menial job
this isnt good for me
but here i am
being a clown
as usual
Save up for a better one in the future
im just dumb
dont splurge like me
Thank you
Last question
my monitorr
Are there any better ones out there
preferrably isp
ips
idk that seems like a great deal on a 75hz IPS panel
I guess
WHAT THE FRECK
oh
Imma wait it out
WHY THE DELIVERY FEE IS 2,5K??????
?
Newegg has problems with delivery fees
