yes,
and technically
They're all "custom" now.
might as well remove that lingo.
Yeah you don't find many rigs like Optiplexes floating around
so the new "custom" would be considered modded rigs.
Or anyone that took their sweet sweet time to do a personal loop
Custom loops are always worth
Aio has much better quality now than they used to, also a solid choice
Anyone peeped the new hydro x from corsair?
yeah
never thought I'd see something cost more than TTs products.
holy crap their pricing on that stuff was insane
I'm kinda wondering if an all-in one water cooler would be worth it for me because the current heatsink I have has the same issue an even better one would... it's freaking big and annoying if I actually need to change anything internally
I have a castle 360ex and I like it. I also have a few corsair aio's leftover from cooling gpu's
If you understand their lifespan and have specific need for it, its a solid cheaper option than a full loop
But the new Hydro X is combining both worlds, I feel this is the start of an industry move.
I mean, at 149 vs 180 for a 360mm AIO, its not too bad
Of course, thats just the block.

What in the world lol
BAD WORDS!
theyre bots
So many
@little osprey saw a pic of your build. How do you like that elgato card?
@hardy geode I really like the card, but the software kind of sucks, it interferes with my audio, so I just don't use it
@fluid raven I just like to game
I did stream for a bit but school and work have taken over my life 😮
Like I said it was for streaming
You could also say I just like buying add-ons to my system XD
@little osprey check out the HD updated Razer Ripsaw HD, better than elgato software
ok I will look at it, thanks @cyan iris
@mossy wadi how'd you mount the fan/radiator on the side?
So guys question bout my build is it any good
ASUS TUF GAMING PLUS B450M AMD RYZEN 2400G G.SKILL FLARE X for AMD 16gb 2x8
gpu?
But I need a better hdd and or ssd and PSU is 750w gold seasonic modular
Ehhh 2400g iGPU
Yea I need a dedicated for the gaming iGPU is just not strong enough but I have a 1060 6gb oc
I know the PSU is overkill lol so I’m upgrading my CPU to a 3000 series soon and adding the 1060 back idk if it will bottleneck if it does idk how bad
Ok good
Ok my mobo just randomly disconnects my mouse shuts down Ethernet card wtf
I don’t get it
Anyone know?
@frail sedge sounds like driver issues.
Driver or Virus— most virus will kill your internet ports to stop you from downloading a fix
But ya
lol thats hilarious
ah
thanks
we keep it clear so newegg staff can download pictures easier without scrolling through a bunch of chat.

Yeah,,, probably what my 3700x is doing right now
yikes
is the 3700x the new cpu amd came out with?
Yes
My cousin’s setup has a 2400g and no gpu
lmao
But in the future he’s gonna get a 1660
lol
2400g is still a solid cpu
Yeah
He was gonna get a 2200g but I said just get the hyperthreading cause he had the budget for it
He has 3 RGB fans too and I haven’t gotten any... yet
To be fair his are from uphere and costed $25 while mine are gonna be from Corsair and cost $90. Both are the three packs
lol
Dont even want to post a pic of my 2600X/B450F/16GBTridentZRGB/GTX1060 build as it's some offwhite (now faded to a yellow almost) case from the Windows 95-98 era and looks like a child put it together compared to a lot of these amazingly clean builds I've seen some of you post! I'm upgrading parts when the budget allows for it and a case is up there on my list.
a sleeper, eh?
we like sleepers
Hahaha it's dirty and horrible cable management so I can't really consider it a sleeper! But I'll get you guys a pic!
whats up with all these giveaways
Couple pics up
Will be doing some cable management when I get it in a non-temporary case.
Few zip ties oughta straighten things out in the mean time I suppose.
Really didn't want to post pics until I could afford a case and some adequate cooling. Only cooling is the GPU fans and CPU cooler.
@sudden turret it's done well so far. usually run the 2600x @ 4-4.1ghz with the stock cooler
nice
Next upgrade is the GPU and a case. Kind of debating on what kind of look I want to go with.
does that case have fans
Nope.. like I said earlier- currently saving for adequate cooling/case.
Oh yeah the fans cost aren't the issue there. But that case is missing the side panels.. so I can't close it. Feel like adding fans would be useless.
😂🤦♂️
well yes and no
@harsh smelt what is that keyboard?
rainbow flavored looks like.
Lol
It’s the rosewill neon k75 with Kailh blue switches. It’s pretty loud, but I’d say it’s worth $100 CAD.
Thank you
Sadly it’s out of stock everywhere
I guess I’ll get either a Redragon or a refurbished Corsair
@swift nexus Let us know if you need any help picking out parts for your new machine?
i do know they released the k75 v2 but i don't know much about it
Bloody B820 with optic switches is a good option for mechanical keyboard
@young junco What case do you have?
Phanteks evolv x
@young junco Thanks. Your rig looks awesome btw
Thanks!!
@restive walrus The lights ARE on in his latest pic
unless you're referring to the room lights and not the computer's lights.
@cyan iris What do you use for the RGB lighting behind your monitors?
It's some random rgb strip from Ikea lol
Looks good though
Even in light
Posted a light pic for reference
Gotcha, looks very nice
It's long enough to stretch the whole two desk setup we have
Im talking about the room lights
@prisma trail I finally have my parts list that I was talking about earlier. Approximately $2000 budget, although I went a bit over. What are your thoughts? Note: pay attention to the number of certain items in regards to price in the list such as RAM and fans..
https://secure.newegg.com/Wishlist/SharedWishlistDetail?ID=LKzgbjJaMWs%3D
that ram is way too expensive
It's two sets of two sticks
136 each yea
those timings are pretty good for 3600mhz ram
yeah
you could save money if you got a gold rated psu instead of a platinum
do you think 850watts is too much?
it's a good build but tbh, it can be better
maybe its a bit much but its a good size
has anyone built a pc with the corsair hydro x lineup? i was thinking of doing a like $3200 build
I appreciate it thanks. And I welcome criticism on this listing
How would you improve it?
noctua is diarrhea colored and it will clash with that case
just a sec
but it's a status symbol, zack
get over the color, they're the best fans out there
lol
i refuse
I have a few white cases that I've found that would also work well with the noctua colors
Here's a few of those cases that I was interested in https://secure.newegg.com/Wishlist/SharedWishlistDetail?ID=WsB3U5IvK6A%3D
Some of those in that list are not ATX; i know
But yes, the biggest downside of the build I've listed is the lack of storage
i'm fixing that
like that
and it includes room for all them fans
the 2080's kind of a placeholder, because there's no pricing data on the 2070 Super since it's out of stock everywhere
that RAM has tighter timings too
16-18-18-36
compared to the 17-18-18-38 on the TridentZ
Yes, that's nice. Is there a newegg listing for that RAM?
gotcha
not definitive "you must buy this" types of thing
i totally get that, lol
I'll definitely mess around with a few more combinations of parts in the coming days. But yes, I really appreciate your input.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tNyf6s buying everything today, any last minute changes, Or suggestions
I think imma just get the 2060 instead of the 1660
@visual remnant great motherboard... love mine.
sweeeet
@visual remnant Yeah the 2060 is about 13% faster in games.
But for more than a 13% price Increase smh
True, if it's within budget id recommend
well u can get the regular 2060 for 350 and super is 400 so its definately worth the extra 50
and its basically a 2070\
Yeah it’s a 2070 for cheaper and can actually run ray tracing at 1080 without having to turn all the settings to the lowest
Don’t quote me on that -
But I’m pretty sure
I'll keep my 2080ti thanks :P
Me too!! Lol
yo
are the ryzen stock cpu coolers good
bc id rather not spend 140 on a radiator and use that elsewhere
if youre not overclocking they are great
alright cool, i probably wont
Zoinks I didn't even think about the cooler, mine probably won't work
elaborate
I have an intel currently
i see
do all of them come with a cooler?
all of what
ryzen
at least the 3600x does
but it should clearly be stated when youre shopping online
itll even be on the box
Better get my horrible build pic in but I want to get my new monitor set up first
@winter hull got a link to that distribution block?
i might
upgrading to an intel I9 wondering what atx board is the best
word is Gigabytes has the best VRM, but what price range and what are you looking for?
corsair
Its meh, the wheels keep going out
when i say that, the ball bearing keep falling out of the wheels. I already replaced the wheels once, owned the chair for 6 months. Got my replacements on monday and the bearing are already falling out again. I dont weigh over what this chair is rated for
yeah, chair was on sale for $260, I had a $70 chair before this one with no problems
@cyan iris i can’t find it but it’s EKWB
@dusky shell I didn't either until it was recommended to me from the newegg website
So upgrading from a 980ti to an rtx series card. There's a really good deal on the msi ventus right now. Any reason to wait for the 2080 super and pay 200 more for 10-15% performance increase?
Other than the performance increase that is
@winter hull Yeah I saw it in a recent bitwit vid but cant find that specific block
@slate sun just wait for the 2070 super for the same price and you get it new
It’s basically a 2080. I think it even has the same PCB
Got any shots of the full pc? @little osprey
So cleaaan
Ty
I want a clean build but at the same time I loooooooove RGB
What I want to have is a clean day setup, then a light show at night lol
I’ve always liked it but it’s sooo expensive
I’m pretty sure I have a full upgrade wishlist of RGB parts 🤷🏽♂️
@rough hornet are you using foam to raise your speakers?
So im looking into getting an SSD for my prebuilt PC, and have very little knowledge of PC's myself. My question is, how would I know which type of SSD/ if an SSD would be compatible with my build's current state as an added item, and not a replacement? @ me or DM if you can help thanks in advance
Currently running a TB HD (sata) and 2 TB EHD (external - USB)
@stray nebula what's the rest of your build specs? Are you looking for a new boot drive to put the operating system on? Or are you looking for more storage space?
The simple route is a Samsung 860 evo 250gb
that's a 240GB SSD for $23 - it's SATA based which means it's going to be compatible with most PCs going back about 15 years
there are a ton of great SSDs out there, it's not all about samsung
I personally recommend Samsung because of the data migration software tho
or just use Macrium Reflect for free with a cheaper drive
it's pretty simple to use
but really @stray nebula it would better if we could get a model number for your PC to know what it's 100% compatible with
you could maybe even get a super fast M.2 drive that way
@little osprey What are your computer specs?
@little osprey its a lenovo H50 Cpu:intel i7 8th gen hard drive is a 1 tb 7200 rpm one and a terrible blown nvidia GPU
@orchid plover I have the same exact keyboard it’s great 👍🏽
Nvm you have the SE I’m jealous
@prisma trail @crimson fox Not sure if this helps
Radeon Software Version - 19.1.2
Radeon Software Edition - Adrenalin 2019

that's how we know it's good
also i took a panorama so it looks all stretchy l0l
@frigid cloud CAD, USD, AUD?
Tax included or no
If included, what tax rate?
@frigid cloud https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zrkmnH
$1250 if 8% tax included for this one.
Cheaper if no tax, more expensive if more tax.
USD
better to spend the extra 20 bucks and get the 2060 super. it has 2gb more memory \
are they even in stock tho?
yeah, but they are $100 more, not $20 more.
I mean, he could get the SC instead of the XC Ultra for $20 more, but I wouldn't feel good about doing that, so I wouldn't reccomend that to someone else TBH.
the 2060 super is supposed to be 400 american
the 2070 super is 500 so cant be 100 more
that's MSRP, not actual cost
the 2060 XC Ultra is $460
plus the tax, which I have been using, it's $496.78
no
vs $411.93
it does matter for cooling
it's the difference between 1.5-1.75 slot heatsink and 2.5-2.75 slot heatsink. So if you want better temps, then you're better off with the XC Ultra
i have yet to see 1 evga card with 2 fans that doesnt cool lol
it's not about not cooling, it's about more cooling
I want more overclocking headroom, so the bigger the heatsink/better the heatsink the more happy I am
I mean, if they aren't going to OC, then by all means the SC is fine
still only a 2 slot
my brother has a rtx 2060 super and they cool just fine
but whatever. You obviously aren't picking up what I'm putting down, so I'm going to leave it
gear
Hey I was wondering, is the Ryzen 7 2700x a good overall cpu for gaming and digital illustration/visual creation? Here's the build I'm thinking of building and was wondering if this is a good build for the future. I've never built a pc before and I'm trying to follow the advice I've been getting from a lot of different sources. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DvgH6s
I also like to listen to youtube videos while playing games or working in photoshop so I'm not sure if intel or AMD is better for that kind of workflow
@dusk snow Is $1,300 about your max budget?
@dusk snow https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3ZRbWD
I switched out your 2.5" SSD with an M.2 one which is cheaper, 3 times faster and a little cheaper.
Thanks. Would installing the m.2 drive in the compatible slot above the GPU cause any issues with overheating since the GPU fan will be pushing air over it? I know the m.2 drive has a heat sink with the mobo but I'm not entirely sure.
@dusk snow If it's a big concern you can always just use the other M.2 slot at the bottom of the mobo.
Thanks a lot.
@dusk snow It is a popular question. The best answer on Tom's Hardware forum was this: "I think the mobo manufacturers have done plenty of testing with the m.2 slot and heat considerations.
If you are using a downdraft cpu fan it will most likely blast the m.2 a little as well.
The GPU sits in its PCI-E slot and blasts heat on the lower side and your m.2 is above it so it might only get a little bit of radiant heat from the backplane of the gfx card.
Anyway, M.2 will throttle if it gets too hot and its the future, so jump on board."
Im going to be doing my 2nd pc build and im looking for a good case that can tell me case temperature on the case iteelf, the only one ove seen is the evga dg-87
@little osprey don’t SATA m.2’s perform almost exactly the same as normal SATA 2.5” SSD’s since they use the same architecture or something. NVME M.2 SSD’s are the faster AND more expensive ones I’m pretty sure
Oh he had an 860 EVO nvm lol
lol
So if I'm building my first pc and bought Ryzen 2700x. But total budget is around 1200 bucks what's the best Nvidia graphics card to go with ?
2060 if you can find a good price
Yeah I've been looking. Thought about the deal new egg has. Think it's 309 right now.
Hey 👋🏼 does anyone here know if the cooler master ml360R rgb can do this effect but then with like 2 colors (which you can customize off course) just like you can with the corsair LL120 fans can anyone help me? (the picture is a GIF only its not working sorry)
that is a very heavily edited picture
with special lighting and stuff
i doubt youd get something close to that irl
What x570 or x470 board do you guys think has the best 4 x8 GB overclocking? Aiming for 3600 c14, I assume I want to keep fclk synchronous with dram? I plan to buy a bunch of 3200c14 b-die and manually bin myself.
I JUST UPGRADED MY RYZEN TO A 3900X
Well i bought all my parts. Super excited and a little nervous building my first pc.
Correct me if im wrong but will the b450 boards support the new ryzen series chips?
@dusk snow With a BIOS update yes. But you'd need to have a previous gen CPU to first update the BIOS and THEN put the new series CPU in. You're better off getting a B550 or x570 for ryzen 3000.
Would bios flash work instead? My motherboard the msi gaming pro carbon ac has that feature.
@dusk snow Yes you can do that with the MSI B450 gaming pro carbon AC with the flash BIOS button.
Any thoughts on a 3600 paired with a 2060 super? Would they work well together?
It's hard to find much information since they're both new
Is there any way I could build a budget PC with only $500?
My main goal is ultimately 4k ultra 60+ fps and I can worry about some other video processing stuff later but gaming is the biggest thing. So my best bet to get quality and save some money is either the 3700x or 3800x and grab a 2080 ti at this point?
I GOT PERMISSION!!! I can build another one!!! (Evil laugh) lol
Matt’s $500 build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mPNCGG
Since the new ryzen chips came out, here is my near final part list for my next build.
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/JMTHEFOX/saved/dRNYHx
Looking to purchase the parts this Wednesday or on the 25th when my mom gets paid
Oops wrong
@wet tiger Yes they will work fine together. The 3600 is more than enough CPU to run that video card without being a bottleneck.
@fierce orchid Please see what "Samot" posted above ^.
Thanks. I did some more research a little later yesterday and found a lot of articles that said the 2 would work well together so that may be what I go with
@wet tiger Nice, that's awesome.
My pc is a bit outdated. Still rocking an fx 4300 😛
Which I have to say, for how much hate these processors get, they work very well.
Just not the best for gaming lol
@wet tiger Yeah it's more of a cheap priced office solution.
That was the best I could do with AMD at the time, and even then that cpu is on the low end of the fx scale
Should have went with a 6300 or 8350
I had an 8370, it was...ok.
The original gpu was a 730 though so it's not like the cpu really mattered I guess haha
I replaced it with a 750 ti since then
oof, well the 2060 super will be quite the upgrade for ya.
Anyone want to help me make a build?
Anyone know the best graphics card at 1080p@165fps(165hz panel) on a budget of around 400$?
So I'm planning out a new build, and was wondering if anyone would like to give me some feedback. Particularly on pricing and things you think might best be switched out with something cheaper or redirect me to other things for better performance and reliability in the same price range.
Would personally go for a bigger Case... but that’s me... I am a fan of having room around my parts
Looks small... only 2 fans on front.. I always judge the case by 3 fans on front... lol
Ah
The top fits up to 8 120mms
I already have the case, I just put it on the partpicker for the sake of it being completely there
But like what else?
They are 140 not 120.. that’s why there is 2 not 3
That is much larger then it looks.. looking at it more on some sites... like fun actually to build with.
Yeah, I love it. It's soooooo roomy.
That pic on part picker makes it look small
Yeah
I'm pretty set on doing an AMD build (though probably 3950x not 3900x) and RTX 2080 Ti with water cooling, but other things can be tweaked for performance and price
Also lots and lots of RGB :D
I almost got that same GPU... but saved the 300$ and went with the OC edition of the 2080ti
@hazy seal can you disassemble it and add a water cooling block?
The one I got? I am sure...
Never really looked. I don’t have a custom loop, so no need for me
Would a ryzen 7 2700x bottleneck an rtx 2070? Been recieving mixed feedback on it.
it would not
Tested games: 0:00 - CS GO; 1:58 - GTA 5; 5:36 - PUBG; 7:33 - RE 2; 10:21 - Shadow of the Tomb Rider; 13:15 - Whitcher 3 RTX 2070 Palit GameRock Premium Ryze...

My first build begins!!
Cool good luck
Looks like it needs some assembly..... lol. Have fun
Should I get an RTX 2080? I was planning to have it go along with an i9 9900k. My plans for the PC would be gaming, streaming and editing videos on it.
^^
It’s a great combo!
@fringe isle What kind of help do you need for your build?
Will a 2700X be bottlenecks by my 1060 6gb
@
@raven cloud want a system that I don’t need to worry about needing to upgrade right away, I want to spend right around 2k
Like for gaming but also gunna be running a couple vm’s for school
My camera is bad but that's my build
My gpu sucks though the fans only turn when they want to
that is designed that way
if you want them to always spin, download MSI afterburner
do a custom fan curve.
No I mean even when it says the fans are on
I like to keep mine at 40% idle
I think the fans are damaged
are you using gigabytes software?
No I removed it
download MSI afterburner
Something weird happened today though the fans spun up normal
How does this build look? My build:
Gpu: ASUS Rog Strix GeForce RTX 2070 Advanced
CPU: AMD Ryzen 2700x

Like a dream
3200mhz is good for the 2700x
Would you guys go up to 3600mhz for the 3900x?
OK I got afterburner
Will a 2700X bottleneck a 1060 6gb?
nope
you might have to reboot @crystal sigil for the afterburner to pick up your gpu
My card isn't overheating o.o
I'm playing swtor in max settings
Is it normal for my fans to be at 1700 rpm?
Thanks @lime forge
Yeah they are my temps are at 70 but won't go over
Also would 3000 MHz ram work fine with it and a Pro4 atx mb
I use 2400 MHz
so then your card isn't busted like you thought 😃
Right now I’m using a i5 650 with a 1060 6gb which runs fortnite surprisingly well I get 120-144 on Everything low expect view distance which is on Epic
My bottleneck rate is at 55%
Lol
ouch
Afterburner didn't help must be a hardware issue
I'm just gonna get the MSI armor 580 it has 2 HDMI ports which is what I need anyways
Yo guys i need some help
Im trying to remove my motherboard to install a new cpu cooler
Do i unplug my connectors by simply pulling them out or do i have to press a clip to remove
dont need to remove the motherboard.
press the clip
you dont need need to remove the mbo if you have proper back acces in your case
so you can remove the old cooler back plate and replace the new one
If you got a half way decent case it should have a hole in the mbo mount behind the cpu
I was trying to install the stock amd cooler but Im having a hard time getting the screws in as I cannot see if it lines up with the standoffs
amd or intel?
I wss trying to do it with mobo inside case but its hard for me cause the bracket for amd doesnt stick onto the back
So i used something to prop the bracket and hold it in place while the case is laid on its side
can you take a pic?
of the computer....
yah
You know how its indented
When i lay the case on its side, the bracket doesnt hold
and then you reach arround with the other hand and screw on one of the standoffs
you'll have to hold the backplate.
dont put it on the side
dont lay the case down.
keep it upright like it is
Ok let me try that
or use some tape 😄
but i feel you on this, I've had my fair share of battling those stupid plates lol.
need a third arm
I used the plastic one that came with my cooler
i did not like the idea of metal potentaly contacting the mbo
Why don’t you turn it on the side
you want it upright so you can reach both sides
one to hold the bracket and the other to attach the standoffs on the other side
^
as long as the plastic piece is on you shouldn't have to worry about metal contact.
true
but my cooler came with a plastic back plate that worked along wiith the metal one
im a go afk for a bit
@ me if it works or you have issues
So i tried leaving my case upright and having my bro hold the bracket while i screw the cooler in
Problem is that when I screw in one corner and then try to screw diagonally, the screw diagonally doesnt hit the standoff
And the screw doesnt really move
are you using the correct standoffs?
Yeah, and I got it to work, took me hella long
After looking it online, I found that other people have problems with amd stock cooler too
I for one had zero issues with the AMD Wraith cooler. One of the simplest installs lol
You just have to make sure the block is oriented right :P
yea
My Castle 360ex was harder to install and thats also fairly simple lol
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/q9QjfH could I get by with a 500gb Samsung evo m.2 ssd for this build?
@oak radish got a link for that ssd?
@oak radish Speed wise you can definitely get by with that drive, it's pretty fast. 500Gb though isn't very big these days but if you can limit yourself a bit on what you download it can last for now.
what would you guys suggest? its either z390 asus strix with a i7 8700k or a x470 asus strix -E with a 3700x
i currently use a ryzen 7 1700 but am used to intel
3700x
@tidal bluff Well the 3700x is a little more expensive right now on newegg but it's also a little faster. https://www.newegg.com/core-i7-8th-gen-intel-core-i7-8700k/p/N82E16819117827?Description=8700k&cm_re=8700k-_-19-117-827-_-Product https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-3700x/p/N82E16819113567?Description=3700x&cm_re=3700x-_-19-113-567-_-Product The new ryzen series has some bugs to work out though through BIOS updates. Also that x470 mobo will need a BIOS update right off the bat to even run a 3700x. I would go with the Intel option or get a x570 board with that 3700x.
Also, are you sure you don't mean x470 asus strix -F? I don't even see an -E model.
Or maybe you mean x570-E? Because there is one of those.
just deciding on which board i wanna go with will most likely be strix z390-e
looking at the bios review on the z390 im liking it sofar. the bios even tells you the % prediction of how good your cpu is in silicon
@tidal bluff Either that AMD or Intel setup should work out great for you. Let us know your decision?
I gotta save up but ill most likely go asus rog strix z390-E
is it just me or is the only difference between these 2 just the wifi?
one is the E and other is the F
I want to build a Pc, so what do you think of the Abkoncore Ramesses 760 as case?
@rocky dove never heard of it , it looks kool tho. my next case will be a thermaltake P5
Nice, in Thermaltake i looked for the View 37 ARGB, but then I saw the Abkoncore which has 12 slots for ssd/HDD and 11 fans.
im going for an open design so its very easy to run my loop. then later after its ran i can get the upgrade kit to fully glass it
id get a super or wait till they come out
they will be same price and faster
i always either go with evga or rog strix
@rocky dove Have you considered this?: https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-rtx-2080-08g-p4-2287-kr/p/N82E16814487414
Nah, i like the rgb of the zotac or msi more and of you look here in local stores the msi or zotac costs only 20€ more
Is it worth it to pay 200€ more for a 2080 ti?
Honestly if you’re getting a 2080ti does cost really matter lmao
But yes it does and no 200 more isn’t worth it if you’re talking pure worth
or overclock a 2080 super when it comes out and save $400??
will the 2080 super be able to match the performance of a 2080 ti if overclocked tho
Do you honestly think theres a 20 frame difference though? Realistically do you think the 2080 ti is gonna be better for how much it costs. That extra $400 dollars is important. Not everyone has boatloads of money to spend on a card. I mean if its better than a 2080 then itll easily be top 10 on Userbenchmark when it comes out.
Its obviously gonna be better but not monumentally better
It has faster clocks too. Which I would prefer as 11GB is pretty redundant.
Not worth the extra $400 imo
i though they said 2080 super is not going to be a thing
Best cooler for an i9 9900k? For the NZXt should I go with the kraken x62 or x72
bigger is better.
The 2080 Super comes out the 23rd. You are thinking about the 2080 Ti Super
Believe it or not but Noctua and bequiet! Air Coolers out perform many AIOs
gotcha
The NH-D15 would be great for a 9900K. Im getting it for my 3900X. It also is more silent than just about any AIO. Atleast of what I know. My AIO was loud...
and it performs better than an AIO and it's more quiet
Yes
correct?
ah i see
Yes
It beat a 360 AIO from Corsair. Which is great since its $90
holy crap
that's amazing
Also comes with noctuas amazing thermal paste
too bad the fans are brown and tan
Which is even better than most thermal paste. I personally would advocate for thermal grizzly kryonaut.
You can buy replacement fans
That are all black
i see
Or a black cover
Or the heatsink cover
Thats what a good heatsink looks like
From OC3D TVs Youtube
fractal design's venturi hf-14 fans are pretty good
Most fans nowadays are great. I dont like RGB too much. I prefer bequiet! or Noctua. You can buy some PureWings 2 140mm fans from bequiet! for $12. Very quiet and push good amount of air. Wouldnt recommend for radiators. Best fans for that would be higher speed Noctuas
But you can get buy with just about any fans nowadays since they mostly keep things very cool without all the noise. Ill sell somebody various fans for 10$
the fans i'm getting are like 118 CFM and 26 dB
What are they?
fractal design venturi hf-14
no RGB
What? I dont see those stats on them. 140 or 120. Non PWM?
Wait nvm
non PWM
these things
I see it
and with their low speed adapters they still have like 70 something CFM
Yea that sounds weird. I doubt a non PWM will push that much air especially given that noise level so low. But they might be right
they also feature 120mm mounting holes
so you can put them on a 120mm rad
Ok but if you want watercooling fans EK Vardar are better
Proven performance. But It depends. Whatever you like. I like absolute silence. But others like fans to push no matter how loud
are open boxes from newegg ok? was thinking of getting a strix z390
well, if thats kind of a imperative part sure, but why so pricey. open boxes tend to just be open boxes, I would not recommend it normally, but if you have free returns on the product sure.
LF someone to put together a budget Build that will handle FPS gaming! Graphics card adn case are already updated to a 2080 and a Mid tower case.. budegting 700 to 800 bucks for other components
what parts specifically @chrome yarrow
Anyone know how to access top mounted fans in this case? https://www.newegg.com/black-raidmax-monster-ii-se-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811156360?Description=RAIDMAX Monster case&cm_re=RAIDMAX_Monster_case-_-11-156-360-_-Product
I bought it pre-assembled, and one the top mounted fans went bad, but I have no clue how to access them.
Looks like some screws hold in the cage... should be able to take the off and get to it.
My old one had to take the sides, and front off to get to the top ones
I can take off the sides of the case, but from the looks of it the screws are in the top-side in the case, and the very top of the case is blocking me access to the screws.
@little osprey all of them except what i mentioned
h100i gonna be good enough to cool 3700x ryzen ?
Probably
AIOs can cool a 3700X easily. It has a 65W TDP. But I would prefer either custom or just an air cooler. Get a Noctua NH-D15 and itll be cooler and more quiet @dire jewel
Save the money
Wait, but 3600x has a TDP of 105W
High clocks
Thats why the 3800X has a high TDP. High clocks
Ive told countless people this. Its just not worth the extra premium. Those pumps inside AIOs are absolute garbage. Theres a reason they all come with 5 year warranties because those pumps only last around 5 years. After you buy an AIO, the days are numbered. Ive had both a custom and AIO waterloop. I can recommend the custom loop but not everyone has the money. But when you introduce an AIO you get a really loud and unreliable cooler. Because the pump is built in and hard to reach to the average consumer. That moving part really will make your day horrible when it fails. Thats what happened to me anyways. Fans are also moving parts but they are so much easier to replace. If you really are set on getting a AIO, do the research and find the right one. They just aren’t worth that extra premium in my opinion. Ive had countless issues with my AIO. Fans are lousy and extremely loud, the pump failed, plus the AIOs introduce a lot less room in small cases. Just do the research, if you want a good cooler thats quiet and costs less get the NH-D15.
I'm a first time builder and I'm looking for some advice
Picking the right parts
Ok whats your budget
About $1000 dollars
Ok
Im thinking of a 3600 and a 5700
Well if you are not afraid of used parts you can build a beefy machine for 1000
A 3600 and 5700 will compliment each other quite nicely.
Maybe even a 5700XT since it's only 50 bucks more
Be careful with that $50 more mentality
Also, I can't really go used since the local used market is not existent where I live
When I first built my budget was it $500, ended up spending $850 at the time.
Jeeez
Was going to get an 8100 and a 1050 ti ended up with a good 8600k and a 1060.
So just be careful, I fell into that "it's just a bit better for a bit more" trap and BAM I'm $350 over my budget.
Yeah I totally get what your saying
But I Also I
Have to ship everything from the US since local prices are absurd
Buying a GTX 1050 is like $230 and a single stick of 2666HMz 8gb of ram is $170
Totally garbage prices here
It that still technically a blower style card?
Thats a meme
Yeah I know, but if was real
It could not possibly exist
If it was real, is it still classified as a blower style?
Looks like its still in the packaging
Its got heatsink covers on it
Weird
Not weird. Its something to add color
As compared to this
And for the reason as to why it cools so good
Heatpipe time
Still better than my Broken H100i GTX
I find these images strangely arousing
If thats what your worried about theres a lot of issues to be addressed
You can power those fans with any 3 pin
Most modern motherboards and cases have an abundance of fan headers
But won't the board think that it's just a system fan and won't ramp up for CPU heat?
Do i need to link the manual
Like I have my case fans set to max in bios. I've never thought about that.
It comes with a Y cable
Then replacing fans is gonna be a pain
Woah that's cool!
Noctua even sells the fans the cooler includes with in all black and in pwm
So just in case u hate brown and tan
I've never seen these double fan models before. Usually I've seen people just go for liquid cooling instead of stronger air fans.
It does. I honestly hate dealing with liquid cooling.
Yeah, that's ruin my color scheme too. What color scheme uses the tan and brown
I've never seen a good tan and brown theme lol
I havent either but i bet there is someone out there reeeeeing now
What about green and black?
That looks cool, my current PC is black and blue, I'd love to see a black and blue verdion
I like the silver and brown with visiable fins
B-brown? You like the brown?!
Yeah
I'mma hurl
Or dirt
Those Chromax accessories are amazing
Im so proud of Noctua
This is making me rethink getting the Kraken x52 and x62 for me and my buddys new builds
You do you man. Im full of random useless knowledge and I have no money so.
Every hobby i have is expensive
Indeed
Yes
sleeper pcs, are art. I just love the idea of pulling out one in a LAN party and being like, "yeah I found this in attic, thought I might play some stuff" and then hooking it up to a mointer and ripping frames. If I ever went to partys, or had money, or freands.
so I opened the graphics card I have because the fans weren't working I cleaned the fans even as to remove the fans from the motors and clean the inside of the motors and they still do the same thing they did before should I just get new fans or could it be a power issue?
@crystal sigil the graphics card fans might not turn on until it gets to a certain temperature
Ideally no..
the sleeper PCs
maybe as a joke.. but all the time build, air flow would be so bad.
it does have the fan stop function but they don't turn on when the card gets really hot and then the whole pc shuts down
if you opened it up you just voided your warranty
@trim sun I believe used that same cooler on their NAVI card.
i bought it used there wasn't a warranty
would that fit it?
probably.
its a gigabyte Aorus rx 580
ARCTIC Accelero TT II VGA Cooler - nVidia & AMD, Dual Quiet 92mm PWM Fans, SLI/CrossFire
works on any card.
ok so it will work on my aorus then
yep
would this one work too?
i like the fact you don't have to individually glue the fins down
any accelero would probably work
i just like that one is just a large finned block instead of seperate fins
Specs to pic in build pics
Main PC: Asus ROG X470-F, Ryzen 7 2700@ 3.8ghz, MSI Lightning Z 2080ti, 2x8 tridentZ RGB 3000mhz DDR4, EVGA 750w G2 Gold Supernova PSU, DEEPCOOL Castle 360ex CPU cooler, 4 Corsair HD120s for intake and 3 thermaltake riings for exhaust, 500gb m.2 ssd to boot, a terabyte and a half of sata SSD storage and two terabyte hdd storage
Stream PC: Gigabyte GA 970a-d3spFX, AMD FX 8350 @ 4.8ghz with a Hyper 212 Evo cooler, MSI GTX 960 4gb, 2x8 Kingston HyperX Red DDR3, Thermaltake Smart 500w Gold, 256gb SSD
Can anyone give me some insight on the best possible build I can build and/or buy prebuilt for $1500 altogether, that's with tower and at least 144hz monitor
Used monitor, and 27 inches for gaming is pretty pointless
I just threw together a build on pcpartpicker and with a 3600x x570 setup and a 5700 your looking at 1100 without a case
Okay okay
I'm trying to get like at least 180-200 fps
Is 1200-1300 not enough to get something like that?
Depending on game, refresh rate, settings....
RICARDO MILOS
@compact cove What game?
@little osprey Fortnite
Gonna have at least 144hz refresh
Low settings
Epic view distance
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tjCFBb @compact cove
with enough room to spare to get a 144Hz 1080P monitor
@prisma trail my man
Shoot I could get a 240hz with the leftover cash
I could find one used for like 250-300
the 2060's not gonna run 240Hz in anything
Ah yeah I just saw that
Forgot to account for that
144hz is still really nice, not much noticeable difference
yeah
nvm 😂
12-1300 isn't a terrible budget but you will need to pick and choose what you want the most
most people who either have a pc or will build one are around the range of 600 to 1000
maybe a bit higher
thats most of the people with their own pcs
others with rly high end stuff are like in the L0 W percentages
I would go for the non x skew r5
Gamers nexus did a good video on how it’s matched by a easily overclocked 3600
I would honestly never buy a 3600X its a waste. Same thing with the 3800X. The 3700X can be overclocked and the 3600 can be overclocked as well. I mean Im not innocent since I have a 3900X but, It was a gift.
The deal was I buy everything else for the computer
with proper optimization is the 3600x still not gonna be worth it
Just dont spend extra money where it isnt needed is general rule of thumb. If you are truly a frugal man, you borrow case fans from friends and “borrow” their thermal paste. Use zip ties for all cable management. Also never buy anything thats not worth your money.
I asked my friend for some stuff and he straight up gave me a graphics card
And 2 fans
And to this day i still have it, Refrence GTX 970
Reference*?
Reference
Yeah I'm just looking to get a processor that I don't want to upgrade for a while and I'm looking for a good tier. I guess I should just get a 3700 if I can
I think the C8H is a great board to pair with the 3900x, you could go cheaper with the Aorus Elite, or about equal on the Master IMO.
@fluid raven Depending on budget I think the 3700x could be a fine pick, people seem to like the Asus x570 TUF board for budget builds. I agree the 3600x isn't worth the $50 premium to most users, but I'd definitely check out each CPU's current combo deals. https://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductCombos?Item=19-113-569&SubCategory=343&SortField=0
is the non x 3700 sold out or somethin
AFAIK there is no 3700, just the 3600, 3600x, 3700x, 3800x,3900x right now
ohh
Is it a no-no to mention other online retailers here? e.g. 3700x is sold out on newegg at $329 but not on amazon?
It's not forbidden
3700x bundles kinda expensive
I want something inbetween 3700x and 3600, but 3600x ain't worth it I guess

There are pretty decently priced 3600x bundles though
random but cool
ill take ten of them
Yes, just buy all non rgb components 😛
or going with a fanless case that uses all cooper pipes and heatsyncs
not sure how viable they are with how hot procs and video cards can get now a days but there would be no RGB
Yeah just go noctua
best fans you can buy and they are tan with brown blades
NH-d15 for the CPU cooler as well
Well it depends on the case and fans you get
Most of them have a controller that you can just plug everything in
then they sync automatically
Even mismatched fans will work if your mobo has a controller on it
😛 I hear yah
I dont mind RGB anymore, it honestly looks cool even with my mismatched RAM
I mean they sync but I have all the case fans on just blue with no effects
My case has that
Corsair 570x, has buttons right on the top for Fan and color control
Yeah most manufactures have went pretty hardcore on RGB the last few years so its really easy to find the components and case that will match your liking
Just did a new build after 7 years (thank god) and I am loving the look and performance I am getting
Well if you are going to do RGB I would suggest Corsair or Thermaltake. They have really good RGB solutions that don't sacrifice air flow. Running fully air cooled and getting pretty decent temps
Yeah they used to make just RAM but they really ramped up and start pumping all all peripherals and pc accessories. I have used their cases for the last 2 builds and have been very happy
Not my build but this is the case I got
That one they actually put the SATA LED strips down the side
What do you need the cd drive for? They have external usb ones that work well
Not to pry lol
got yah, its just nowadays you can dl everything from the internet and install OS and anything else from USB
got yah 😛
I like not having one sticking out of the front so I am fine with an external
but I understand thats personal taste XD
The only thing it doesn't have that may be a turn off for some is a reset button
CD......DVD...... what’s that.... lol
I honestly haven't used mine in any case
I think its kin to the 8 track and 5 1/2 floppy 😛
I own an 8 track.....
So do I :/
Hell.... I have my original Atari still
well I have my grandmas Atari since that was before my time 😛 Even have a copy of ET and Star Wars
So freaking excited though, just ordered the last part for my build and the beast is complete 😃
Didn’t say I use it.... just have it... lol
:p
wait is this the chat to ask if the parts i picked are good or
iss my first build so i wanna see if it is good or not
Yep..
so i picked my parts on pcpartpicker so imma just send a pic and tell me if iss good for like games that need go pcs like gta
Send the link from the site.. that lets everyone see it and adjust
good* mb i can’t type on my phone
alright
trying to make it a $500 build
i think iss good enough for a $500 build but just tell me if there’s better stuff i can use or things i should add
i’m gonna go on midweek madness to get a better power supply too
I’d go 650+ on PSU.. but looks good for a cheep build
I always vote 750+ but I like to make sure you have enough power
ohhh
It makes sure all your parts have the proper power
okay thank you
But a wise man said 650 is good for most builds...’
And it is... I say 750... but I’m not always wise
LOL
It'll give you room to grow should you upgrade to a more powerful/powerhungry setup in the future.
what is a good affordable Motherboard i have an old one and want to start updating
is this a good board?
yep, that's a fine board
So.. Is the rating on the psu really have a difference. Between bronze and gold ?
Yes, as per 80+ specs, however, most 80+ gold PSU's will also have more protection features and higher quality components/design.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/80_Plus
I would stick to Gold if you can
Its not entirely necessary to go up from there unless your really OCing alot or something
Just built a new desktop. Its posting and when I go to install windows it hangs at either the windows or mobo logo. Anyone have any ideas? Most things I'm finding online are if you already have windows installed or if it hangs after getting into the installer
You installing from a USB? Is UEFI Boot enabled? Have to tried turning on or off secureboot?
Uefi is enabled. I've tried from both a usb drive and a usb disk drive with the install disk. Doesnt seem to let me disable secure boot.
Got yah, have you tried a BIOS update?
Its enabled but grayed out. That's the next thing I'm gonna try. I just have to find a second usb
Depending on the board day 1 BIOS can cause issues
Which motherboard do you have?
It may have the ability to connect to the internet and DL them for you
Got yah, which processor?
I79700k
Okay, yeah I think that board supports Internet update but let me check
It does
yeah would check that then. Does it have flashback or multiple BIOS versions it can support?
Looks like the latest BIOS revision is from July 1st
Has some system and DIMM performance improvements
I have a friend with a z390 E and 9700k running fine on stock bios, hard to say if both boards have the same bios as shipped though
yeah depends on the manufacture date really
Other than that I would start troubleshooting components. RAM is the first place I would start
try with one stick and then the other if you have multiple sticks
make sure the CPU power is plugged in tight
same with mobo pin
Then just make sure you have stable power going to it and you should be fine
Oh, flashback specifically means being able to flash without cpu/ram
You can still flash using a fat32 usb
Alright.
Flashback is asus's brand term I think, but everyone calls it that now
i.e. cpu-less flashing
okay i guess its like qflash and all that
Ya, all those silly names haha
I thought it was the multiple bios versions
I know a lot of ASUS boards have the button on the back to go back a version
Doesn't look that one does though
I’m planning on building my first pc in the upcoming months and I was wondering if I sent the part list here if someone could take a look at it and give me any pointers on what to change
sure thing
Not bad, would say that is a decent high- mid tier build
Should get decent frames at 1080P depending on the game
Any questions you have specifically?
Well only suggestions I would make is go with a gold certified power supply. worth the 5-10 bucks more you might spend
it will give you more stable power and a little better performance if you decided to overclock
and they generally last a lot longer
other than that I think you did good!
Oh ok. Thank you. How difficult is building a pc?
I'd definitely not get that monitor at that price new
And ya, I'd agree, spend $80 ish on some 650-750W 80+ Gold like an EVGA G3, RM750x, Seasonic Focus / focus plus / prime gold.
Seasonic makes really solid PSUs as well
I'd recommend trying to free up a bit of cash to go for a 3600 + x570 budget board for $330ish on combo
yeah, that would be a huge upgrade
told my neighbor i wanted to build a pc and her eyes went wide and she was like 'you want to build a pc??'
Oh ok. I’ll definitely start saving to make some room for that
Thanks for the feedback
Not a problem!
Haha I get so invested in these
I think building or even just spec'ing out is my favorite part
I like OCing and seeing what I can get it to do but its just really fun building something
Some reading material for when you are ready 😃
This one has more pictures if you need visual
