dont know if anyone plays it here but doesnt hurt to try, if anyone plays ark I have a 24/7 server that has the maps rag and extinction along with boosted stats and a few mods to make life easier
just search Valhalla Rag under unofficial or add 73.224.208.206:27017 for Extinction 73.224.208.206:27015 for Rag
they are crossarked so you can go between both servers
Is the acer nitro 5 a good starter gaming laptop?
@halcyon fossil any recommendations?
Yes
ah ok
well
the nitro 5 is a good budget/performance combo
its oculus certified, but if youre running really graphically intensive games get something a bit better
see if you can find something with 16gb of ram, and a better graphics card
i7 is good though
the nitro 5 should be able to handle more intensive games at medium to high settings
its comparable to my laptop, and thats what i can get
i would try to help find a good laptop but im on my phone and looking for pcs to buy on a phone isnt the easiest thing to do 🙃
@halcyon fossil I planned on get the acer nitro 5 with the GTX 1050 and if possible the one with the GTX 1050 ti and I will most likely upgrade to 16gb of ram and if it doesn't have ssd then I will replace the hard drive with ssd
you planning on upgrading it urself?
@halcyon fossil shouldn't be hard to change the hard drive and add a stick of ram
lol
yeah ik
i wasnt asking like it was a hard thing
i was just asking if you were planning to do it
just make sure u clone the hard drive property
also make sure you get same speed or faster ram because if u get slower ram it will bottleneck the faster ram at that slower speed
@halcyon fossilhow do you clone a hard drive. Also O might just get one that comes with ssd
any video on youtube will work
wow zack
that's some good advice for this lad thanks
i mean he prob has youtube already at his disposal
but he prob thought about asking us first
though i have no idea how to clone a drive, i would think to just keep it and use it for whatever next build
sorry...
no need to be lol
just a, ig we can rack our own brains for knowledge of the question, if we dont, we can just say youtube videos or ask more knowledgeable people
@teal dew use something like clonezilla if you are trying to copy a computer image to another
Where’s the best place to buy a used gaming pc? I’m in college and can’t afford to build a new one atm
@solid roost like how much you looking to spend
I’m really not sure right now. Lol
I’m really just looking for some where to do some pricing so I can figure out what I can spend
@solid roost this might be a good place to start https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?N=100897449 4016&SpeTabStoreType=97&name=Gaming Desktops&isdeptsrh=1
Hey I need some help trying to budget on buying a gaming pc that runs at least 160 frames any ideas on what to get?
Umm looking to spend like 1000$

😂
Handful of cards can run fortnite at that target fps consistently
We benchmark Fortnite Battle Royale with RTX 2070 and Intel Core i7-8700K @ 3.70GHz at Ultra Quality Settings to determine if you can run it smoothly
Tldr, RTX 2070 and Intel i7 8700k or 9700k
It will break your 1k budget
Thanks bro I’ll look into it💯
Oh
You can do AMD R5 2600 also to save money
But still, you'll be going over budget with everything else you need to buy
this 2060 might get you close https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Gaming-RDY-LCIBG203
@tame nexusxbl#4170 do you already have a monitor that can do 160 fps?
Yeah bro
id think that would get you 160 but its 1300
budget buy to keep you under 1000 but fps that are up there would probably be a 1080ti
can i go over specs of my pc with someone i know i need to upgrade pretty much everything in it i just dont know where to start?
best place to start upgrade usually motherboard but you should be able to just post here and people will help
I5 2500
16gb ram
120gb SSD & 2tb hard drive
Gtx 650ti boost
Order? Cpu mobo ram, then gpu
what are some good ones id get these over time so can i get decent ones at decent prices
oh sick
@hybrid ravine pcpartpicker.com is good place to put all your stuff in and build as you go
has a compatibility checker as well
ill look into it for sure.
Question:
I want to buy a new gaming laptop for college with a budget around 2000 give or take a little and want to be able to play games like borderlands 3 and destiny at at least 100 to 120 fps what should i be looking for.
got it thanks
I wish i get a better pc lmao
i have a gt 730
and fortnite i run about 50 fps with 49 3d res
oof
lmao me too my laptop drops frames every even though it should be able to handle the games i typically play.
I’m relatively new to building a pc. Does anyone know if 2 x 8gb ddr4 3000 MHz Corsair Vengeance pro 16–20-20-38 timing and 16 CAS will work with a Asus ROG STRIX B450-F mobo? Any info greatly appreciated
@sand ridge It should work yea. The only potential problem with that selection is whether or not it balances the rest of your build in regards to performance.
What graphics card is a good match to an intel I5 3rd gen
@haughty sonnet i got an rx 570 4gb, ryzen 2200g (need to upgrade), evga 400w, NZXT H500, samsung 250gb ssd, 500gb WD hdd and 3 120mm LL corsair fans (were free)
@sand ridge from the looks of it, the motherboard would support that ram selection. The main concern I have is that the current CPU listed does not utilize the speed of ram you were looking at. So that would be a necessary upgrade before the ram could be utilized. I'll take a look at the balance of that system build in a moment when I get back to my desktop.
@haughty sonnet ok thank you i really appreciate it
@haughty sonnet just for reference i plan on upgrading to a ryzen 2600x next week if that helps
My new base at -1000m
@sand ridge Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. After looking over the list of parts on your build, I think that everything looks pretty well balanced. The lowest performing part of your computer would be the GPU as you have listed, but it is still very respectable -- especially for what you are looking for. If you have any other questions, I will try my best to answer them.
Alright boys im back with another question
Anyone know if i should wait an purchase all the pc parts together or if i should purchase them little by little?
together is best
then you're sure you're getting the best available that you can afford
What
let me reword that
ah heck, just read the comments here
18 votes and 31 comments so far on Reddit
i no word good
Ok
I took a madcrap today
Pictures?
I think I severed my sphincter
same
@haughty sonnet Actually ya I have 1 more question. since I plan on overclocking the ryzen 5 2600 to 3.8 Im aware I should probably get a cpu cooler other then the stock one that comes with it. Do you happen to know what would be the best option for me that would fit in a H500 case with a ROG STRIX B450f mobo? thank you very much for helping me
a hyper cooler is good
hyper 212 evo, cooler master makes some ok budget aios if you wanna go the liquid cooling route, deepcool aios are pretty good (used one to overclock a 1700 to 3.8)
@sand ridge
Cryorig makes great coolers too
Noctua as well tho they’re generally more expensive
noctua makes the best air coolers tbh
totally forgot about noctua. good catch. be quiet is up there too
Yeah
Corsair makes nice aios as well
corsair has really good AIOs
just don't go enermax for AIOs they're uh
pretty bad
Yeah
@tulip trench ya i seen that the hyper 212 evo was a really popular choice. you think it'll be good enough for a oc'd 2600 then?
@sand ridge i think it's a solid choice. 3.8 on all 6 cores shouldn't be too much for it to handle. the 2600x comes clocked at 3.6 out of the box and i know for sure a 212 can handle that so... i would think a reasonably overclocked 2600 to 3.8 should be just fine
don't expect sub 60c tho. i expect the cpu to be up around 65 under load. Also don't buy the 212x. it's just a 212 evo with an extra fan strapped to it. if you were considering one, just buy a 212 evo and find a fan lying around and strap that on to the 212 evo.
Just some napkin math, if @tender swift is right about the 212 evo's tdp, and the 2600 is rated at 65 watts out of the box, and a 2600x (just an oc'd or higher binned 2600) is 95 watts, a 3.8 ghz oc should land the processor somewhere around 105 watts. the 212 evo can easily handle that.
yeah, man
@tulip trench @tender swift ok well sounds like im getting a 2600 and 212 evo then thanks alot for the help. really appreciate it
sure thing
of course man.
@tulip trench do you possibly know what a standard build would consist of to take advantage of a 144Hz monitor?
yeah resolution is important
types of games
texture and settings in games
suppose you wanted to play a game like Dota or any other esports titles, you probably won't need anything above a 1060 and the 2600 oc'd. In fact, i have a friend that runs that configuration for his esports titles and those titles easily run at 144+fps, taking full advantage of the high refresh rate monitor. If you plan on playing more graphically intensive games, a triple a title like The Witcher 3, you'll need a beefier graphics card if you want to run the game at higher details and at a high resolution. get back to @tender swift or anyone else who's knowledgeable here with a resolution and various other details and we can help you a lot better.
IF YALL ARE DOWN FOR MONOPOLY ON PC HIT @tender swift @devout oxide or @reef dome up
Hey everyone I just got my starting gaming rig today
Any suggestions or things I should know about
what are you looking to know?
Well just if there is anything that I should know about updating my build or anything you would have liked to know about your experience with pc gaming
what kind of build did you go for?
One taht can handel most HD games at decent to great fps current build is a geforce 740 4gb SC a amd equivalent of a older intel i5 and 12 gb Ddr3 ram
what's your budget looking like?
Right at the moment not much maybe about $50 a month due to my crappy job
that's a bind
too little budget honestly
I know I'm probably going to slowly upgrade things slowly one thing I am probably going to upgrade is going to be the power supply bue to it not being modular
that's a good solid place to start
Cooling
I have a aio that came with it by corceair
Maybe that gpu if your cpu is at least recent?
It's about 4 years old
he said an amd equivalent of an older i5
3470?
Omg
I don't remember at the moment
And I was retarded it's a cooler master aio
This is what the guts look at the moment
I know it looms ugly right now but I am just starting and don't know anything to be quite honest
why did you not talk about the case
replace it
50$ is enough
You can find 2nd hand mid tower full tower cases by that price
I might get a older one for free from my dad if he can fig2out where he put it
Any recommendations on power supply
Ok and the main reason I plan on upgrading the power supply is to future proof some things and to have a modular one so I don't have to have a mess of cords
modular ones are rather expensive let me tell you
I'm slowly trying to understand things and I found out that a modular one helps make the inside look cleaner
yes it does
sure does
But in total honesty I would change case asap
yeah
also that FM2 board
nice corsair fan tho
no wait, that is a cooler master one
the ring is distinctive
I know I know and that's on the list I found out that if I want a better gpu I would have to upgrade the motherboard and power
That's why I plan to get a big case so I can have more room then I would actually need
Good luck then on that bud, that card can last you a little
so no need to replace it asap
but definitely have to some day
Yeah the graphics I wasn't goint to stress till I have ram and power updated
cpu and board dont forget
in this order
case > power supply > motherboard > CPU and ram
changing the PSU and case first, you'll still be able to use the computer
while you save for the motherboard, CPU and RAM
you can sell your powersupply and cpu+motherboard to get back some lost money
yeah those CX500s always go for a bit of money
35 maybe?
That sounds less ominous than what I was thinking I was thinking that it was going to be worse than what I was thinking
its not that bad it just takes time
yeah they sell for $30-35 used
that FM2 board would actually sell for quite a bit
they're hard to come by
about $50 used
In my country ppl try to scam offering 10% of what it cost for 2nd hand 😢
that's terrible
Hell what I have right now is better than what I had it was a intel i5 with 16gb ddr4 ram and a intel hd graphics
that GPU is better than integrated for sure
And once I upgrade my rig if you guys want anything I'll be selling off let me know
for sure, just make sure if you're gonna do that sort of thing, don't advertise it
the mods don't take kindly to it
I live very far from US so I can't take anything
I'll be upgrading too some time later
same
my build is actually pretty old and low budget
i'm running a i7-3770 i got for free out of an old pc
and a 1060 i got as a warranty swap for an older card
A i7 sounds better than whaf I have
it is
im running an i5 3470 and rx 570
but i've gotta upgrade because this rig also runs my plex server
them 4k streams are killing me lul
A friend will be selling to me an i7 6700, board Z270H and 1 16gb ram stick for 280 that's actually a good deal
the ram stick is ddr4
that is a good deal
I'm. Gojng to go and play for a bit I just got everything set for minecraft to use all that it can
alrighty, i'm gonna go lay down
@tender swift i
i;ve been wanting top setup a server too
but i dont know where to start
Im a newbie on that
start with hard drives and patience
hard drives... how much you recommend 4tb?
i started running my server about 8 years ago
yeah, that's a good starting off point
i will get one when I have the money to spare, got many components to sell, maybe I will build a PC server
i'm about 12TB full atm
it runs a plex front end
which is a fancy DLNA server that can be accessed anywhere on a variety of devices like Roku, Apple TV, Xbox, Android, iOS
whatever
a stream server?
it auto-pulls metadata for whatever you're serving
yeah
i have 16 people who watch content from my PC here at the house
and they're all over
so you run your movies in that pc, do you use any app to play your series/movies from remote access?
you use an app on whatever device you prefer
those are the deviecs supported
never heard of plex first time i hear about it tbh
yeah it's been around for a bit
but looks pretty interesting this might encourage me to setup a media server much more
I was planning to setup an experimental server for personal research, I mean, to learn
about networking etc
decided, will setup a media server
don't ask for payment to your server
-please*
it's already a grey area
how so?
I see
as soon as you accept payment to be able to access it, it becomes 100% illegal
sure, and they're cracking down on services like that
because we don't own the copyrights to the tings we stream over a plex server
it would be illegal to accept money to view those items
Can we stream our own content right?
sure
but yeah, since most of the content people stream from their plex servers is ahem "acquired"
hahaha
it's a big ol nasty grey area
sure but i'd rather have it than not
but at least the "acquired" content is not being streamed for payment
right
one nice thing is you can set it up to where you can still view the content on your household devices (rokus and other streaming media players) even when the internet's down
that's come in handy many many times for me
It is needed to cable the house with ethernet cable to do that?
🤦
im such an idiot
for others to view your content at all?
I misunderstood sorry xd
yea
you can't access like youtube or whatever
and you don't have cable TV
you can still use your plex server to serve yourself content
locally
Do i need to connect it to a personal router to stream?
your devices would need to be connected to a WiFi or hardwired network yeah
remote devices (those at other people's houses) just need to be able to access the internet however they have it setup
even if theres not internet, its enough if they;'re in the same net
its like a LAN connection right?
yeah
you bet man, i'm gonna go lay down
Me too my eyes hurt
same
good night, may you have good rest
night night, you too
cya man nice to meet ya, leaving
@tulip trench @tender swift yeah I am mainly playing games like rainbow six siege atm. I have played PlayStation for the last 10 years and now I’m trying to make a transition over to pc. I don’t plan on playing any games that are Graphically intensive for a good while. I just wasn’t sure if I was better off getting a 60 Hz monitor or 144 Hz monitor. And I planned on just aiming for a solid 1080p for the time being until I have more money. 1440p is 4K right?
Ok. I’m not familiar with resolution, aspect ratio or anything like that.
just let us know if you want suggestions for a 1080p rig, i'll try to get a parts list down to your budget
@tender swift ya I’d like suggestions for a solid 1080p build. At least for future reference so I know when I get other parts
@tender swift take time if you need I’m not in a hurry
just as a starting point, here's a rig in the $700 range
that'll run any game out there at 1080p, even high refresh rate
@tender swift this is my current build as it stands (once I get the parts in)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DZk86s. The psu is just a 620w not a 650w
I should be able to do just fine with 144 Hz monitor then? @tender swift
144hz is pretty fast
idk much about the radeon side of cards, but idk if it will be able to get 144fps
144hz monitors are expensive and unless youre playing a really simple/not graphically intensive game i dont think its worth it
Maybe a 75Hz would be best then?
yeah
i have a 75hz monitor and i love it
things are really fluid and all that
@tender swift
could i get ur opinion
Is the Hz just the max frame rate the monitor has?
basically yea
what am i being opinionated about
I’m new to all this so sorry if that’s a stupid question
so
we are deciding if a 144hz monitor or a 75hz monitor would be better
with an rx 570 gpu
75Hz
yeah
:D
yeah ik
kk
Well I plan on upgrading to a 1060 or 1070 next. Just don’t have the money atm
yeah
i get it
@sand ridge dont upgrade to the 1060
not worth it
id just wait till u have enough for the 1070
actually some 2060s are cheaper than 1070s rn
and theyre better
yeah, go for the 2060
but i would wait till Navi comes out and we see those benchmarks
Ok. If I upgraded to the 2060 would I have to upgrade other things with it or you think I’d be fine?
lemme check ur build again
Ok awesome. I’ll look into the 2060 vs 1070 for sure.
unless you're willing to go used
oh well yea
then the 1070's cheaper, but of course that's all on you
lol forgot abt that
pssst go used
i fully support going used, but i'm against e-waste
lol time to disappear again
byeeeee
I’ve never really considered used tbh. From what I can tell the 2060 is cheaper then the 1070 in pretty much all cases at least though Newegg they are.
yeah, they are consistently cheaper
Is there a reason why their more cheaper considering their better?
they probably just forgot to update the price maybe too?
the 2060 hasnt been out for too long
imma be 💯 wit yall
evga's B-Stock 1070s are cheap
i'll send you a link, formula
but i'd still go with a 2060, 100%
yeah...
it can have it enabled but you wont get a good frames with everything else on too
rtx stuff isnt good for rtx stuff
but then a 2080Ti's performance gets cut in half with RTX on
yeah
it was an unnecessary thing that they just threw in too early
well
they gotta start somewhere
i still feel like ray tracing isnt worth the frame drop
eeeehhh, it was just something to get people hyped on
HOWEVER
the fact that real time ray tracing is even possible
is a feat in and of itself
it was them trying to stay relevant while AMD's hype train keeps chuggin
yeah, they only compete with up to a 2070 tbh
but good price definitely
so nvidia still dominates the high end
lol also nvidia founder cards in the rtx series also come with 2 fans
not that many people buy founder cards lol
but like the navi cards are brand new
gotta wait a bit for partner cards
oh wait i forgot
i'm gonna keep my eyes on Navi, but i don't expect great things
PCI-E 3.0 doesn't really get saturated
but the other features of 4.0 are neat
especially for NvME gains
yee
1070ti is still higher than 2060 I believe
expensive tho
I'd just overclock a 2060 and get near that performance
I've seen 1080s go for 350 used which is kinda nutty
Sounds like I’m best to just get a standard 2060 then?
And speaking of which what exactly are PCI-E mean?
What does it mean*
its a type of video slot for the gpu
Alright thanks
Yeah. When you go build your PC, there will be these long slots, typically with locks, that's a PCI-e slot. There are types like x16, x8, and x4 but you don't worry about it if this is your first PC.
These boys
wait im confused lol
Hm?
Oh lol nah deepcool just did that for "aesthetics". In reality, it's just a ring of plastic fins
ah ok
lol when i build my computer i want cable mod cables
they look so nice
but expensive ðŸ˜
Yeah. There's red led behind the fins. The original build was black and red but when I upgraded to Ryzen, I renamed it to Apollo and changed the color scheme fo black and yellow
oh nice
You can get sleeved cables from corsair themselves if you use their psus
really?>
Idk if evga makes custom sleeves cables for their psus but ik corsair does.
huh
I'd check if your psu is from corsair bc you CANNOT mix cables
But cable mod is a safe bet
DO NOT MIX CABLES
i always just thought cables were cables
nah
Nope
the pinouts are different
so you could have a ground going to where a 12v is supposed to be
or whatever
and it will wreck your PC
imma just stick with the standard cables
as long as you get them from somewhere reputable like cablemod, you're golden
It's totally safe if you buy the proper cable for your psu. Just check what your power supply is. Cablemod will take care of the rest
like $100 for a full set
Custom keyboards. Honestly anything custom can get expensive really fast
the main thing is people who theme their builds
yeah
im going with a bunch of rgb stuff so i can change the colors when i want to
i just like the look of the sleeved cables better
get some RGB cable combs
eh i think thats a bit far
You could go with white sleeved cables. They reflect light pretty well
im just going with rgb for case fans, memory, maybe an AIO, and the text on the side of the gpu
sleeved cables look so good
speaking of ibuypower
that's not too badly priced
Agreed
plus then i can flex on people who think pc building is hard lol
it's just slightly more expensive lego
yeah that does seem like a good price
slightly
pre builts are getting better prices
Same!
https://iceyou.org A new Ultima Online free shard.
im just waiting til we can revive asherons call 2 😛
anyone want to play borderlands 2 on pc with me on stream?
Welp that’s nice and all
But I’m running 32:9 monitor
With a maxed out MacBook Pro 2018 13in
Can run Fortnite at 140-160fps
Who wants to vs me
and people think that my 21:9 monitor is insane..
Surprised that iBuyPowers PCs don't always have a terrible markup?
boutique prebuilts have become a better value recently
yeah that's why i said boutique specifically
HP, Dell that sort of thing
they still can't do a proper gaming rig
but iBuyPower, CyberPowerPC, ABS
they all do it pretty well these days and i don't mind recommending them
Hey question
what's up?
Anyone know how I can transfer all my stuff that’s on my hdd to my ssd without losing anything? Right now I only have a hdd but got a ssd today and would like for everything to go on there so the pc runs faster.
what size HDD and what size SSD?
I wouldn't reccomend putting EVERYTHING into the ssd as not all of it is probably neccessary there. Put your most important (and slowest opening) games/programs as well as your OS and that's what I'd keep it at
^
Linus tech tips?

Ask away @kind eagle
In the event that you did want to transfer everything, acronis is a good dupe tool to move os and apps over to a different drive. I'd heed @noble turtle 's advice though.
@tender swift my hdd is 450gb and my ssd is 250gb. I’m going to upgrade the hdd soon.
yeah a clone won't work then
they have to be the same size
here's what i recommend
unplug the HDD, install windows to the SSD
then when you have windows set up, plug the HDD back in and transfer what you need
@tender swift to transfer the things to the ssd you probably just click and drag? And what things would you recommend me putting on the ssd
i would recommend just your music videos and documents
and yes, when you get into windows on the SSD and you plug in your HDD it'll show up as just a regular hard drive, and you just drag things over
If I go that route then it’ll be considered my boot drive then right? I only ask because if you remember I told you that I am building a new PC and the rest of my parts are coming in later today and I plan on putting everything together today.
just make sure your SSD is set to boot option #1 in the UEFI and you'll be fine
Battlefield 3 anyone ?
@tender swift ok when I set up my new pc I’ll hook up just the ssd and install windows. Do I have to have it stalled before or can I do it while I’m booting up the new pc?
@tender swift https://youtu.be/7H7D1HcfY9o
Switching from a laggardly hard drive to a modern SSD will make a huge difference to the responsiveness and performance of your gaming PC. But starting from ...
yeah, but both devices have to be the same size
or your total installation size on the old disk has to equal the size of the new one
or be smaller than the size of the new drive
@kindred cave ps3 I got it ?
any ddr 4 3,000mhz
@tender swift does it hav black color?
@tender swift ya I only have 170gb used up on my current hdd and my ssd is 250gb. I just figured it would be easier to put everything onto my SSD and then just transfer whatever I don’t want on there to my hard drive after I have it all up wouldn’t it be?
then you'd be good to use something like Macrium Reflect @sand ridge
In this tutorial you will see how to clone a disk. In this example, the target disk will be larger than the original and we will use Macrium Reflect to resiz...
Oh thanks
of course
@tender swift ok awesome. Might have a few questions when I’m putting everything together but other then that I’ll send a picture of what it looks like after it’s up and running
great

Lmao does rust run on a ryzen 5 2500u and 8gb of ram alone? We’re about to find out.
well, technically yeah, it'll run. you can run anything on almost any hardware if you meet the bare minimum processing power needed to open the application. whether it'll run well or not is the question.
Example: i could run a game, max details upscaled to 4k if i wanted to. It wouldn't run well but i could "run" it.
kinda like me trying to run the minecraft PTGI mod on my i7-3770 and 1060
talk about a slideshow
@frank dune It will run, but very badly
I would very very very much reccomend minimum 16gb of ram as I use 8-9 constant on rust (on fast settings)
Well it starts and acts fine when it’s on simple graphics
as well as a dedicated gpu
I just don’t have a pc right now that can play it on better settings
you'll probably average 30 fps with major frame dips when getting into fights
In two weeks I leave for the army and I’m hoping that after I come back I’ll be able to build something extremely good, like maybe overkill. A threadripper and a 2080 ti sounds beautiful.
That'd run in well (if only rust wasn't an unoptimized hunk of poop)
I can’t tell if it was a joke or not, but did you see the 2090? It’s like as wide as a case
pretty sure that was an april fools joke
It was on Linus’s channel so I wouldn’t doubt it.
pretty sure?
no it was
there's a video of a guy having nvidia sending custom parts
it was so funny when iwatched
theres actually nothing in that shroud if i remember correctly
no there is
It looks like 2 2070s put together
watching the vid now
already did on april 1st
i think there was SOMETHING
but nothing imporanrt
important
HERE IT IS
nah full 2 gpus, the man was dedicated in the april fools joke
probably a ton of work just for that lol
it was and april fools joke
i already confirmed that
but hey whatever
i loved when the fps on the screen went through the screen
lol
he's smacking the gpu's with a screwdriver
someone commented "The box says ‘now with Siri Integrated Overclocking’😂"
haha the fake bird sounds are louder than him so he starts yelling
Monkeymark's benchmarking
Guys does we have a remote to setting the color of this ? https://www.newegg.com/corsair-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820236426?Description=16gb ddr4 3000 rgb&cm_re=16gb_ddr4_3000_rgb-_-20-236-426-_-Product
I'm pretty sure you can download a program to set the RGB of it, or it's done on the bios.
Hello everyone,
@kind eagle and @old matrix you control the lights on those through Corsair's iCue software
CORSAIR iCUE software connects all your compatible products together in a single interface. Control RGB lighting and fan speeds, program keyboard macros, and monitor system temperature.
I set up my pc and I’m pretty I have everything correctly connected but when I try to turn it on all the lights come on and all but I get no picture on the screen and a red light shows up on my mobo. I’m using an rog strix b450-f gaming mobo
Okay so I've had the issue before.
When you say Red light, where is it located?
Is it labeled with VGA? CPU? MEM?
Next to the dimm slots
Is it going off by a specific part?
Okay, is there also LEDs by the CPU and GPU?
They don't have to be lit, just there.
Okay, so there is only one LED?
Yeah only that light shows up out of the four
Okay.
Is the CPU seated correctly?
Is it an OEM?
The gold arrow on the cpu corner matches up with the arrow on the socket?
and you heard a click?
Or a crunch?
I will take the CPU cooler and take the CPU out but everything should be correctly installed from when I last checked
Again, is it an OEM or was it brand new in the box? Did you get it from Ebay? newegg?
And the CPU you have is the AM4 socket type correct?
Odd.
Would you mind sending a couple pictures of the pins if your phone has a high res camera? pics from the sides and top?
So for one, TOO much TP.
Everything else is good.
What is the exact cpu you have?
I need to check the compatibility.
One sec.
Okay so I found a thread with the exact same board and same exact CPU online, users say it will work just fine.
This is confusing though.
This may be a dumb question, but did you reset the CMOS, or have the fan unplugged?
CMOs?
If the answers to those are. "Yes I cleared the CMOS, and yes, the fan was plugged in." then you may need more advanced help than I can provide, I would definitely ask some of the Techie/ mods.
yes CMOS
The little battery lookign thing.
it's circular, metallic.
It is in this exact spot.
Alright, take it out, let it sit on cardboard for 5 minutes then put it back in.
Then reseat the CPU and fan.
Plug it all in, and test it.
What did that change? I’m just curious why that would make a difference possibly
What would *
So by removing the cmos for 5 minutes, it essentially will reset your BIOS settings.
I have an article on it, if you would like.
OH ALSO
@sand ridge
Make sure your PC IS UNPLUGGED.
Yeah I already have all the plugs in the back unplugged
okay, sweet.
"By disconnecting and then reconnecting the CMOS battery, you remove the source of power that saves your computer's BIOS settings, resetting them to default." <----
So once it's popped back in after 5 minutes, if it still does not work, Ping me.
Is there a certain way you have to take that part out or does it just pop out
Some people use flathead screwdrivers.
As they're hard to get out sometimes.
A very fine flathead screwdriver.
But remember
the battery is only the metal circle, don't hit the plastic or anything.
Sorry if I'm speaking to you like you're brand new to this. I'm not sure of your experience or anything, so I'm trying to make sure if you are new, you don't mess up your brand new build.
No it’s ok I am new
Alright, let me know when you place the CMOS back in, the cpu, and the fan.
Hey man @sand ridge Just checking to see if you got it working considering you haven't replied back.
Yeah I just finished putting the CPU/CPU cooler and CMOS in
Awesome! let me know if it boots.
I’m in the bios now
Awesome, I'm glad I could be of assistance.
Holy shot dude you are the best. Thank you very much for helping me I didn’t know what the hell to do. I’m still learning a lot about PC building and this is my first time trying it
no problem, make sure to downlaod the drivers for your gpu and motherboard when it's fully booted, good luck with the rest of your build!
download*
What do you mean drivers? I’m sure that’s probably a stupid question
Software
Like for the gpu.
You can get it from the manufacturers website, if you keep your hardware updated frequently, chances are you'll run into issues a lot less if any at all.
And the only stupid question is the one not asked my man!
True! I’ll look for the drivers as soon as I boot it up. Is it just the gpu I should look for?
GPU and motherboard.
Ok awesome. I’m assuming that’s how you change the color of the interface on you i’m assuming that’s how you change the color of the interface on your Mobo as well?
Awesome! yes.
You should be able to control it all throug ASUS AURA considering your Mobo supports it.
Very cool build by the way.
Thank you. I was freaking out that it wouldn’t start up
Could you recommend any tips on how I am supposed to overclock the CPU? Because I mean that’s the whole reason why I bought the cooler master CPU cooler
No problem, I had the same issue on my first build as well.
Also as for the CPU overclocking, I would do a TON of research before doing that as I've never overclocked a CPU.
But you can do it through the bios.
You just don't want to set the voltage too high or it will literally FRY your cpu.
And then if it burns the plastic that holds it in place, you'll need a new mobo as well.
So you have to be VERY careful.
Ok cool. Have you ever possibly overclock the GPU? I know it can be done but I have absolutely no idea how to do that
I have but never through bios, I would use MSI afterburner if your mobo supports it.
That's what I use.
Ok it’s pretty simple to follow?
Very much so, just don't throw the voltage all the way up or it will shut down your pc and you'll have to restart it.
There should be a tick to reset the OC functions if it forces your computer to freeze and shut down.
So when you come back on, the voltage isn't set all the way up and it gets stuck in that loop.
I need someone to help me with my pc repair problem dm
On it
That’s the fastest response ever Jesus
@lean ore lol I know right? This dude helped me a bunch. You’re in good hands
He needs higher assistance sadly, I wasn't able to get it to display on the monitor, and I also could not diagnose why his USB ports were not working, sadly.
Still an absolute legend
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
@lean ore I'm sorry I could't help you earlier, but I'm home now. What's happening?
Dm
Gotcha
if anyone wants
u werent online
he was askingfor funds and providing a personal paypal
undercover cop
Funds?
Wtf
"Go to paypal.me/bleepand type in the amount. Since it’s PayPal, it's easy and secure. Don’t have a PayPal account? No worries."
yep
What the hell.
that was the exact message
i bleeped out the important part

I think so.
that was his first and only message on this server
Reason: Duplicated text
aw
ok
i figured if i @tted you then he would have deleted the message
i should have screenshot the message lol
Ok so my computer will randomly shut off then go from being turned on to turned off without even loading
have you made any hardware changes recently?
Well the whole pc is over 10 years old and some parts on the motherboard died
OOF
But its not overheating
did you add any more ram, change the processor, power supply, graphics card or anything?
also does it happen purely randomly or just when you have like 297534959 things open or something like that
Yeah so the ethernet plug i had to get a separate port for it. It’s totally random so i was playing a game earlier on it and it shut off and then started and stopped
how do you end up resolving the issue?
do you hard reset the computer or does it eventually stop restarting/
Well last time i shut it off and hit the power button on the motherboard and it started just fine
PSU is am HX 1000W modular, graphics card is a ASUS STRIX GTX970, 3 CORSAIR Dominator DDR3 2048mb RAM, the CPU is watercooled and I honestly dont remember what it is
hm
Its been a while
i would open up your machine, check for leaks in your water cooling loop, and then reseat all the power cables
make sure theyre in nice and tight
@opal frost make sure you power off your computer and disconnect the power cable before doing any of this
make sure you flip your PSU switch to off after you shut down the computer
Yup did all of that too
Maybe dead CPU?
nah
it works for a bit but then randomly shuts off and on
so the computer still function
Hmmm.
functions*
It just randomly shuts off?
if so, it most definitely sounds like a wiring issue.
Could also be a faulty PSU.
yeah
OK, what? I just got here. Symptoms?
SpaceFox01Today at 10:49 PM
Ok so my computer will randomly shut off then go from being turned on to turned off without even loading
his computer randomly will turn off and on
it will work for a bit, but then randomly it will just shut off
and turn itself back on and off and on and so fourth
2 things... PSU or a fault in the MoBo
1000w psu, water cooled cpu, 16gb ram
1000W PSU???
yes
@robust ore no it wouldnt
most Pcs need a MAX of like 300.
I have a 1300w PSU, my previous 850w failed after a few years
noooo
So people usually go for 500-600.
yeah
PSU size is relevant to what you power
having an oversize psu cant hurt though
I have 8 drives, 2 SSD, 5 HDD , and a Bluray burner.
I have one GPU currently but with my system and PSU, I could have 4. My next upgrade is 2 crossfired.
So, PSU is relevant to what you want to power.
Why I CHOOSE to have a 1300, besides it was on sale with after rebate for the same as the 1000w and 10 year vs 5 year warranty.
no brainer
Reptoid no it wont the system will only draw what it needs
Yeah, you can't OVERPOWER
if i buy a 1000w psu it only means it can deliver up to 1000
the system only draws what it need
needs*
Easy things, buy a PSU tester... They aren't much and you can keep it and use it for a long damn time.
I assumed that if it faults, it would damage everything if its a higehr wattage.
rather than a smaller one.
Jays2cents did a video about it
But then I also thought about static.
If it's NOT the PSU, then likely, your board has an issue. You can try baking it, but that's tricky.
baking to reheat the solder, right?
right, but, depending on the board and capacitors, it's too easy to overbake.
Of cource.
course*
Like the capacitors and what not.
Why can't you use a heatgun though?
And use it for the back of the board?
Spring for a PSU tester... IF that tests bad, send it in for a warranty and buy another in the meantime.
The cpu might be overheating check youre pump to see if it is still working and try to reseat it it might need new thermal paste
Out of warranty, bu one.
Some one buy me a pc console FPS is trash😂
You potentially could, but you have to know where to heat EXACTLY according to peramiters.
<SP>?
@mild tartan just fyi ik that sounds like a joke but just make sure youre not e-begging
its against the rules
Well i did get it to start
I have a sick 8 core AMD, and it's still air-cooled and happy. Just got a new case and a 12" vent for the side of my desk.
Naw it’s a joke I’m saving for like a $300 build
@mild tartan lol ur fine if it was a joke, just wanted to make sure you were aware of the rules so you dont take it too far
I spent $2100, after my 1300w PSU. PSU was 2013, built my rig in 2014, and she's still sinister. Case failings and ventillation and I'm golden again.
Rebuilding next week.
Did any of you enter in the Newegg giveaway
yes!
Yes
I did.
In desperate need of a new PC.
yes
It's why I'm here. LOL
